A friend of mine wanted me to pick up a tub of puffed rice candy for him. Costco and Sam's Club didn't have it but I noticed that Don Quixote had it. I did a search and found the Hawaii Candy factory location. I was able to the tub of the puffed rice candy for a few dollars cheaper. The Hawaii Candy store at the factory location has a variety of products including seasonings and other items. The location isn't easily visible from the street but worth visiting. I bought a bag of fortune cookies, puffed rice candy and strawberry sour belts with Li Hung packet. There were other candies available which I will try on my next tr

Going back to my roots...Oh my gosh and thank heavens for Hawaii Candy as places like Ishiharaya has closed many of these beloved timeless locally snacks are so much harder to find.Located in the industrial area outside the airport right below the rail lines which are still in the midst of the construction not really sure of the parking situation though I found some street parking nearby you're able to see the sign from the street you just need to walk in to the back for the entrance.Who has grown up eating Waffles-o-roll and Red Coconut Balls *me!* and to still see their showroom filled with that nostalgic vibrant packaging and that classic logo we're familiar with got me in a state of confusion as I didn't know they also have many other items as well like seasonings, beef jerky, even the Chip & Cookie where I was told if you look in the back the first ingredient is chocolate chips...woah!! What I also had no idea is they have "Butter Wafers!" the very same as the rolled just unrolled lol! Along with that each wafer is stamped with a Hawaiian design which I absolutely love and they come in three flavors (Original Butter, Coconut, and Matcha) and I can see my besties in the Mainland would love these to pair with their sips.Supporting local and all made in Hawai'i I grabbed a bunch of goodies and they're able to make anything into individual party favors which is a great idea and who wouldn't want these lovelies!!! Before I got on my way, I was given a pack of Butter Wafer for the road (So thoughtful!) the showroom is quite small but is very nice vibe to showcase all of their goodies, the staff is just a delight, and you can absolutely call in your order so that there's no wait time for them to gather the items.Thank you!

Established in 1933 by senbei-maker Shochi Ohta, the Ohta Candy Factory made famous the little red balls of coconut candy still found in Hawaii stores today. The product list has grown to include fortune cookies, seasoning salts, macadamia nut candies, sweet potato & taro chips, rice cakes and the colorful puffed rice snacks. THE GOODS:Giant Fortune CookieAs I entered the break room at work, a big box loomed on one of the tables with a note taped to the outside with a motivational message from the higher ups. Inside the box were these larger-than-normal fortune cookies, individually wrapped for the taking. Being accustomed to the flavor of the Panda Express recipe, my hopes were high for this locally-made version, and they did not disappoint; not only for their size but also for its crunchiness and creaminess. And of course my positive message inside didn't hurt! OVERALL: One of the good things about Hawaii...

Fresh mochi - straight from the source!I would have never thought of going to the factory for this brand of mochi and senbei (wafer style cookie). My friend from Virginia (she was born in Hawaii) had an idea to go to Hawaii Candy, Inc. She said, "It's on Ualena Street" - like I knew where that would be... Haha! We used GPS which brought us to an area by the airport. There's a one way road with an unfinished section of "the rail".We weren't sure if the warehouse was open to the public, so - we parked in the lot and called their phone number. A very pleasant female voice welcomed us in. She said that they had a small retail area (lanyards, okoshi, wuntun strips, etc. can be purchased here). We told her that we were right outside and she laughed!I didn't get her name - shucks! She was so sweet and kind. She asked us how we found her and where we were from - the Aloha Spirit hospitality in action! Then - she made every effort to make my friend's wish come true...My friend said that when she goes to the store, she sees peanut butter mochi - but only one tray. She would like to bring some back to the mainland and also get some for her brother who will be leaving for the mainland, too.The nice lady explained the production and delivery process - then made arrangements for pick up of the special order. Fantastic! In the meantime, I read Jessica P.'s review of how she worked with this company to get special fortune cookies made for her parents' anniversary party! Whoa!I'm really happy about finding this small local business! They listen to customers and go out of their way to make dreams a reality. I will keep them in mind for future needs!

In my search for "Thank you" party favors for my parents' 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary, I discovered special fortune cookies made by Hawai'i Candy online. Their website features popular snacks such as wun tun strips, macadamia nut coconut balls, and a variety of cookies. Yum!I decided to visit their shop to place an order for individually wrapped fortune cookies containing a personalized message. The shop was a little difficult to find, but after catching a glimpse of the Hawai'i Candy sign on the side of a street facing building, I parked and found the small shop while on foot deep into a driveway.Upon entry, I was greeted by friendly faces and wonderful customer service at the front desk by what appears to be a small family owned business. They explained the personalized fortune cookies in detail and even had samples on hand to get a better idea of the final product. The small fortune cookies are actually pretty big! It was about the size of my palm and tasty!I decided to create the personalized inserts myself to avoid paying an additional $25 in printing charges. A message was printed on both sides and then cut into a 2-1/2" x 3/4" size. I then went back a second time to place an order for 50 cookies (25 minimum) with a 5-day turnaround. The final product of 50 pieces was packaged into a Hawai'i Candy box ready as my hand-carry to Las Vegas. Each cookie was wrapped with Hawai'i Candy cellophane for a total price of $0.55/each.After placing each fortune cookie into a gold organza bag containing a few other giveaways for the Golden Anniversary celebration, I thought it turned out to be a great "thank you" treat from Hawai'i!

Our family "favorite" for DECADES has been the RED COCONUT BALLS from Hawaii Candy! Recently, I purchased a box to take to a relative on the mainland. Unfortunately, the candies were "rock hard" and impossible to bite into! When I returned to Honolulu, I contacted the Manager, CHERYL OHTA, to inform her of our disappointment. To my great surprise and delight, Miss OHTA responded with great aloha, apologizing for this unhappy occurrence, and promised to "make it right," immediately. And indeed she did! It is such a rare occurrence to have a business "stand by" their product and make sincere apologies as well as replacing their product. I am so impressed with her, and with Hawaii Candy - who has been in business for 90 years - and I can't help but think that they will last another 90 years with such sincere family managers, their business integrity, customer appreciation and sincere Aloha! Really wonderful! And the Red Coconut Balls are STILL the BEST EVER, in my 75 years!T
