Hau'oli Pastry had a pop-up at Kekuhaupi'o Gym at Kamehameha-Kapālama on Thursday for the girls basketball double-header.I'm usually not a fan of mochi donuts ... but the poi mochisadas from Hauʻoli Pastry is a huge exception! These little mochisadas are ONO!!! I tried one and was sold! The 2nd pic was one of the boxes our producer bought for the TV crew.I picked up a dozen between games to take home.

Found this place when I looked up a fellow yelper that complimented on one of my pictures and was in the area to check this place out after seeing a few great reviews.A family run small business that sets up outside of auto detailing on the right side heading west bound on Kam highway, right after the fast food restaurants (popeyes, taco bell, etc) but right before genki sushi/zippy's. You can miss it because it's not a store and they are selling it in the lot with a big banner out in front to the left of auto detailing. I have often driven past this place but never really noticed it because of it's location and they sell out and close up fast, and they don't sell at any farmer's market either.Today they had Taro and fruity pebbles flavor so I ordered a box of 15 for $20 of half flavor of each. The mochisada is addicting, fried and sugared like a malasada, but the consistency of fried mochi, a unique blend to snack on. A fluffy, yet chewy sugary snack, I could eat the whole box, and I bet icecream would go great with it, but with all that sugar, it would put me in a coma. They have a loyalty card buy 7 boxes and get one free. I was lucky they were open and still had some left to be able to buy/try some because I found that Hauoli is on instagram and mostly takes pre orders, and only sells certain flavors on certain dates and time. They can be contacted through Instagram or by phone if you'd like them to serve it at a party.Open parking since they are on a lot by themselves.

I did a custom order of original poi mochisadas to make a birthday cake with chantilly frosting and it was a huge hit! Everyone enjoyed the challenge of making balls into a cake. Even better was the fact that there were no leftovers, cuz usually when I buy a cake, I end up taking home leftover sheet cake and nobody eats it.This is the original mochisada, not to be confused with the one they sell at Zippys. NOT.THE.SAME.THING.Follow their IG to get locations, there is no storefront so you have to hunt them down or place a custom order for your workplace or next event!

This is the most delicious Mochisadas ever! It's crispy on the outside like a Malasada but the dough on the inside is like eating a mochi. Don't go for the copycats at other places like Foodland and Zippys. This is original homemade Mochisadas and a local family run business. Sometimes they are at Farmer's Markets and are able cater to special events like a Wedding or Graduation party. They have flavors from the OG taro, oreo, fruit pebbles and other seasonal flavors. With chantilly cream or chocolate sauce to dip it in. Sometimes there's Boba Cookies and Chantilly Brownies too. He also sells Boba Cookies at Sweet Treats by Kris in Pearlridge Shopping Center. I've only had the OG Taro, it was so delicious! You can really taste the taro and the crispness in the Mochisadas. It's my favorite place to get and eat Mochisadas! They cost 15 pieces for 20 dollars or you can buy them individually. They also can do fundraising with sales from their products. They're a great family business! Support local! It's also a good way to carb up before a race, hiking, swimming, biking or triathlon training. They occasionally announce deals on their social media page.I highly recommend trying this place out! It's delicious and so tempting to keep eating the whole box of 15 Mochisadas! Thank you for all the hard work you all do in making the delicious pastries!

Imagine a delicious, fluffy malasada had a baby with a chewy, sweet piece of mochi. Thats what you get with Hauoli Pastry's mochisada. I found John on Instagram almost 3 years ago on one of my suggested pages. I decided to check him out when he was at a local craft fair in Kaimuki. Once I had his taro mochisada - I was in heaven! On certain occasions, he also makes other flavors such as haupia, Oreo, and fruity pebbles. The chantilly and chocolate sauce are a MUST! I loved these mochisadas so much I convinced John to cater these on site as my dessert at my wedding 2 years ago! These were such a hit with all of my family and friends, and we are so blessed to have shared these with all of our out of town guests. Walk, don't run, to find out where hauoli pastry will be next to snag yourself some delicious mochisadas!Ps: don't forget to try his other baked goods such as the chantilly Mac nut brownies, dark truffle tartlets, and the Thai tea boba cookies!

Excellent Mochisadas if you've never had them. Not a heavy yeasty donut but a fluffy light as air donut that is a delicate crispy on the outside and pillowy center inside. Nothing like I've eaten before! I ordered mine with no sugar ( like regular malasadas sprinkled with sugar ) Going to dip into the decadent chocolate sauce after heating it in the microwave and the buttery flavor of the Chantilly sauce. Support Local on this rainy day. It was worth the drive to Pearl City for something your tastebuds will thank you forCan't wait to eat the Chocolate macadamia nut brownies topped with Chantilly sauce and the Fruity Pebbles shortbread cookies. A Special Pre-order for the Holiday Season. Get your Bundle before Sold outDefinitely a Must Eat delight

Chef John McGough has extensive knowledge of food sweet and savory, but his expertise and passion is in pastry he has worked alongside the best and branched off on his own to share his love with pastry with others. He is the founder of the mochisada and perfected the recipe before others to follow. I can personally tell you that his product is delicious I have tried it fresh, 1-2 days old, burnt, ect and have never been disappointed any talk about it not being anything but delicious is false. Do yourself a favor and try it for yourself to find out where his next pop up location will be is to follow him on Instagram he posts time location's and even when he's sold out for the buyers convenience.

First time trying this out. It's a cross between a mochi and malasada. Tried their original and Oreo. Can't go wrong. Great snack if you're in the pearl city area on the weekend.

I would have liked to give this place 5 stars or at least 2 or 3 stars, but when I bought some Mochisada at Kapunahala Elementary's Keiki Swap Meet & Food Truck Event today the outside of the Mochisada was burnt and it seems as if the owner tries to hide the burnt areas with sugar. So, when you bite into the Mochisada all you get is a burnt taste in your mouth covered with sugar. I thought maybe I could pull off the outside and just eat the inside, wrong, the inside was dry and not moist like I thought it would be. I eventually ended up throwing away everything I bought because it tasted nasty. If you all ever want to eat a good Mochisada you better off going to Zippy's. See my photo of all the burnt parts on the Mochisadas. So disappointing and such a waste of money.
