Hale Nalu Beach & Bike

The older auntie who works here is rude. She came out and started moving things around as we were looking through shirts that were hanging up. Re-squaring and spacing the hangers and getting in the way while we were actively trying to look through the shirts for a family member who was visiting from the mainland. She acted like we were a bother when we were trying to look through the shirts. She even rudely asked do you even know where that is (Mākaha/Wai'anae/Ma'ili/Nanakuli)? We left without buying anything.Told her - Yes, auntie of course, we live right up the road.SMH - customer service fail. It's sad because uncle Derrick had a really nice place; my daughters used to get all their supplies here for surfing and bodyboarding, they did jr lifeguards every year, various meets, the Grom, etc. I also asked some friends about our recent experiences there and several of them said that they have had similar experiences there recently. She talks down to people and acts like customers are an inconvenience. I think this auntie is probably his family member since he doesn't seem to be able to correct her, it's at least the third or fourth time she's been rude and dismissive to us. This is the third strike. Who knows, maybe she just doesn't like the way we look!?! The last time we told uncle Derrick about the way she talked to us before we left, it doesn't seem to have made an impact. We probably won't be back again.

This is an awesome local business. They took care of us with our snorkel rentals and we purchased several clothing items. Super friendly and very accommodating.

The location is in a one way alley so follow the arrow in order to come in the correct way. The owner is Derick and his assistant are the best! I forgot the lady's name but she is an absolute sweetheart. She helped me put a rear mirror on my daughters stroller, and Derick fixed my flat tire. I highly recommend this place. They sell all kinds of local stuff as well.

Best surf shop on the west side. Personable service. Aunty and uncle is very attentive. Get your dive gear here, bike fixed, surf gear and shirts and hats. I picked up a three prong spear here. Good quality at a decent price.

Had been looking for a local surf/dive shop on the island and this place was great! Low prices and just genuine people. The lady (I'm sorry I forgot your name) and Derick were very nice and extremely welcoming into their shop! Could spend all day talking to them both! Will be back! This is a must visit!

Excellent Customer Service + Near the Best Snorkeling on OahuDerek is great. He immediately makes you feel welcome and provides great customer service for whatever you need. We ran into a mixup returning our rentals (our fault), but he was very understanding, helpful, and accommodating.Prices here are also great compared to other spots on the island. Make sure to visit nearby Kahe Point (Electric Beach) to see lots of fish and maybe dolphins.

I bought two used bikes from Derick...my last bike I bought was a mango colored Specialized Stump Jumper....customer service is awesome....it's the go to place for surf gear, rentals and bike repairs in Waianae. They rent bikes, surfboards and snorkel gear. They sell bike parts there too. Derick is an expert on bike repair and surfing too.

Great very affordable rentals, board repairs, cool board shorts, t-shirts, surf racks, items for surf, snorkeling, and most anything you'd find in a surf and bike shop. Great local West Side Oahu small business to support year round.
