I love this little beach. It's so nice because not many people know about it. I almost don't want to review it so I can help keep it a secret lol.Hale Koa (AKA Secret Beach) is behind the beach cabanas. The beach itself is maybe a couple hundred yards long. It's a great place to snorkel if you don't have much experience. The water is shallow and calm. Also a nice place to lay out and tan or listen to the ocean while reading a book.My only complaint is the amount of trash I've seen accumulating. Please pick up after yourself if you visit.

There's a sign at the gate that says. It's a military base and non military is subject to detention. Not open to the public.

Yes, yes, it is clean with many garbage bins so folks have zero excuse for littering.Downside is that the shoreline is receding so there's not that much space to lounge. Plus there's tons and tons of coral and rocks which make it hard to go barefoot. This beach is a few short steps away from the parking lot and very convenient if you're carrying lots of beach things from your car.All in all, it is quite peaceful and safe..."I will bring health and healing; I will heal My people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security."Jeremiah 33: 6

My husband was excited to show us a new beach he found today, so after school I gathered our kids to get ready for a random beach afternoon. Its always fun exploring the base and finding secluded beaches away from tourists.

Perfect spot to spend the day if you have military access. It was my favorite beach we visited.

Hale Koa Beach is also known as secret beach. Google maps does a pretty good job of getting you there. If you're driving there for the first time (using GPS), it might seem like you're going somewhere you're not supposed to, but you should be on the right path. It's not the nicest beach ever, but it's nice enough to bring your family and wade in the shallow warm water without hordes of other people. The most interesting/surprising thing is that you have to cross an active runway to get here. Well, if there was actually incoming/outgoing aircraft, the gate would be down and you couldn't pass, but it's interesting they don't have tighter security where you drive across. Maybe more importantly, it is a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) risk. In other words, you might accidentally drop something onto the runway and that object gets sucked into an engine of a multi-million dollar plane.Note there is no garbage can located here, so you must pack in and pack out all your stuff. Be respectful and keep it clean!

This beach is awesome!!! Absolutely beautiful and pretty quiet. Definitely wear some sort of foot protection because there is a lot of coral and rocks. Once you go out a little there are some fish and it's very shallow! Very easy current and not many waves so great for swimming. Tables and shade available! Overall a beautiful beach and my favorite on base.
