Gulick Delicatessen

I was sorta in the area, well in Liliha for my seemingly monthly oncologist visit, and had a couple three hours to kill so decided to check out Gulick Deli.I haven't been there for years but that's only because most of my lunches these days are sit-down events and not take away and eat someplace else kind. Today I took my plate home to eat.Service was quick - no line on a Friday at 11:30. Maybe that's the day others eat at sit-down places.Portion sizes are large and everything looks and tastes good so you could rack up a big bill ordering without self-restraint.My bill was $27 including tip. Crispy fried chicken, sweet sour spare ribs, nishime, vegetable tempura, shiso musubi, and huge Diet Coke. Sorry, my camera was sleeping.Everything was great, except the vegetable tempura which was a little oily after sitting around for a while. Note to self: don't order that again.I only ate half of all the stuff plus the whole musubi and was satisfied so I guess it's a reasonable price when pro-rated over two meals.If you haven't been there for a while or ever, you should check it out. Another great local comfort food spot.

Good 'ol Gulick where the food is delicious and the service is great!Favorites: teri hamburger, gobo, potato saladAlso recommended: spicy chicken (has bones though), tamagoyaki, corned beef hash patty, cone sushi, namasuThe only item I can't recommend is the fried tofu with green beans because I once got a batch with really hard pieces.If you do not see something out that you've had before (and they aren't about to close for the day), there's a fair chance the next batch is already being prepared in the back, so just ask and they can often grab it for you.There's also a menu of set bentos to choose from.Parking is limited but there is no dining in, so it turns over quickly.

Its decent. Although, I wouldn't make a special trip out to here just for the food. The chicken was dry, noodles almost like panda express style, rice was mushy-almost cooked to sushi rice, teri beef piece & vegetable tempura was tasty, spam-basic small piece- 1/2 of an average slice.I like to support local businesses too but $14 bento...I wouldn't go back to try it again after what I ate. Bento size was big but small enough for it to fit in 1 of my hands.Also their tableware utensils are the weak ones. For the hefty food they serving, they should invest in more sturdy ones.

Update on Gulick Deli this morning I stopped to get breakfast for my co-workers . I got there once they opened at 5am and I was the only customer.Normally there always a line , the service was fast and friendly and I ordered 4x the same plate . Garlic chicken, shrimp tempura, chow mein, egg omelette and Musubi . Support local

Thursday January 30, 2025 when I am in the area and passing by here. If there is parking and it doesn't look that crowded in there I come here fast kind to buy breakfast or lunch from here. There is so many good food choices to choose from which makes it so hard to decide what to get and how many. It's so so easy to fill up a plate here. The service is always fast here. The ambiance is casual as it's a delicatessen and it can get crowded in there. There is street parking in front of the place and like 4 stalls on the right side of their building. I will continue to come here and support local at the same time.

Inari is always yummy here. I keep getting the hash because it looks so delicious and huge but I keep feeling like it has no flavor and needs more onion. Today the star of the show was the fried chicken. I usually pass it up because I didn't like it before. In fact for some reason, no okazuya has good fried chicken until now! The chicken is big and it kinda taste like how Zippy's used to taste when it was bigger and not over done! lol give it a try. I want to go back and buy more. This place is always clean! Staff always friendly too.

One of my favorite okazuyas. They always pack your plate, and theres a big variety of choices for food. I love their garlic chicken, vegetable tempura, and eggplant w/ beef. Theres only a few stalls for parking but never been an issue for me.

Gulick is one of my favorite okazuya's. They have a great variety of food selections to choose from and bento options as well.Their staff is very friendly and the line moves rather quickly even during very busy times. There are no tables for sitting. It is basically a grab and go.I would recommend not going too late because they do run out of food after the lunch rush and your selections then become slim.I usually order the same items when I go. I like to order their chow fun, spicy minute chicken which is not spicy at all but very tasty, their green beans and pork stir fry, maki sushi, and their namasu. If there is no spicy minute chicken, you can't go wrong with their shoyu chicken.In my opinion, there really isn't anything here that isn't good and I feel that everyone can find something they will like. Sometimes, they have special items and the food is usually consistent.I would definitely recommend it and say that is is worth a try if you haven't tried it yet.

I haven't been to Gulick in several years; the last time I was here, the food wasn't that great. I decided to stop and try it again, as I needed to pick up food for the auto repair shop I take my car to for service. I got mostly okazu items, not the Chinese food, and I'm pleased to say it was a lot better than the last time I picked up food from them. The hash patties were my favorite. The California roll was good as well. I'm definitely going back again when I'm in the area.
