I decided to go there to pick up dinner since I was doing some shopping. I got the minute chicken chow mein (5), beef chow fun no bean sprouts (5), crispy gau gee (5) and the salt and pepper pork chop (4). I was very pleased how yummy the food was. The leftovers was more ono!!! ---no photos...sorry! The price was very resonable.Service is like your normal Chinese restaurant...nothing extraordinary lolThere were a bunch of people eating in. The place is nice and clean with good lighting. I like that there are no carpet there. I will definitely go there again.

Ok. Final verdict after my third visit. Only 3 stars. This restaurant is a mixed bag. Some items good, some items ok, some are meh. Service is still 4 stars (have had the same server twice and the old timer from House of Dragon once - both are friendly and quick.)Tip - pay with debit card. The bill does say there's a surcharge for credit cards. This time we got an order of spring rolls (4 each, cut in half) and plain noodle in soup (saimein). Spring rolls were meh - only crispy and crunchy on the ends. Basic Chinese spring roll flavor, May be frozen commercial. Veggies and a bit of pork inside, Will not order again. Plain noodle soup was good. Just basic but broth was pretty good , char siu wasn't the best but ok. Came with choy sum. Noodles were thicker, not Hong Kong style (bummers) but were al dente and good. Would order this again if feeling under the weather.Summary of my three visits. Dinner plate - pass. Flavors are bland. Crispy won tun is good, fried shrimp is a tiny again and over cooked. Chow mein is bland. Kau yuk is ok. Spare ribs are pretty good. BTW - menu says crispy gau gee but they say it comes with won tun and don't seem to care that the menu is wrong. Minute chicken with cake noodle - good to almost very good. Cake noodle was pretty good, could have been a tiny bit crispier on the outside but was ok as is. Minute chicken was very good. World definitely order this again. Side order of crispy won tun (not just the pieces on the dinner plate) were good.

Just stopped in this afternoon 3:12pm 2/3/25. I grew up in Pearl City when House of Dragon first opened. So far this young gentleman working today not so friendly. Came in the door just looked at me, no greeting, motioned to him with table for 2. Didnʻt say anything. so I had to ask if we were able to sit anywhere in the restaraunt. We sat, he provided the menus. Only two other customers dining in. Two ladies making won tun near the beverage cooler. He brought tea pot and water. Waited for gentleman to come back to take our order. He was just staring into space when I looked up and had to give him the eye so he can come over to the table to take our order. Food came out reasonably fast. Hot tea was lukewarm.I ordered Crispy Gau Gee Mein. Bit into the gau gee my favorite and it was cold. Some restaraunts get away with precooked and refry the gau gee but this one was not even that. Unknown how long this was previously cooked. Dove into the noodles; the gravy was warm and the noodles room temp. Appears this dish is precooked gau gee and noodles and all the do is stir fry the vegatables. Pork was soggy from sitting in th baking soda too long. Disappointed with this place. Usually newly opend places strive for quality the first few months. After that is when you can tell what is going down hill; customer service, taste of the food, and the quality.Iʻm sitting here writing this review after I stopped eating the cold meal. Not once did any of the servers come and check on us and/or ask if everything was okay. NEGATIVE!!! This first time experience not good. Not sure if we should come back here. Now, the lady came to check on us because the two gentleman eating their meal. Let her know how this experience was. Now she bring another tea pot. Hello...we are ready to leave. After dining here for 30 min. She says tell them. Not when you hungry and cannot wait for another order. Not sure if this place warrants another visit. Food was tasty.

A solid pseudo Americanized Chinese eatery IFF you forgo old school chop suey house standards.Four visits, this is consistently true.Do NOT get the "lunch or dinner plate". Tasteless noodles, fried rice, bitter baking powder fried shrimp, overcooked chicken wing, over cooked won ton, and bizarre braised then crisp fried sweet sour spare ribs.Avoid the lemon chicken. Instead opt for dishes like:-- Steamed fish filet with ginger onion - Well steamed, relatively thick, boneless white fish filet with zero mud taste. Very flavorful.-- Kau yuk with taro - Very well seasoned with notes of nam yue (fermented tofu). Tender without falling apart. Same true with the taro. Still holds together.-- Crispy gau gee - One of the best. Perfectly fried, not oily, well seasoned coarse ground pork filling. Super moist inside.OK roast duck. Somewhat overcooked. Mildly seasoned. Perfect for low sodium eaters. OK char siu. Finished with either maltose or honey in an oven that is too hot forming lots of black burnt bits but still relatively moist and flavorful throughout.Online ordering a plus with added credit card service fee and something called "support local fee". In house purchases, add 3 percent CC service fee.Promised pickup times missed by 20+ minutes when it's busy. Play to its strengths and it may surprise you. Revised rating: 3.5 stars.

Takeout Dinner from Pearl City, Oahu, Hawaii...On my way home from the west side of the island, I searched my Yelp app and found Grand Chinese Restaurant. I had never heard of it, so I went to look for it.Located in the corner of Pearl City Shopping Center, between American Savings Bank and Chuck E Cheese, Grand Chinese Restaurant is hidden in a hallway behind some stairs. I liked the free, shared parking lot!The interior is bright, spacious, and clean! It would be good for a group gathering!I had called ahead and my order was still being made. However, I paid cash (to the friendly cashier) to avoid the credit card fee and took a seat. Surprisingly, my order was called out soon after, and I raised my hand. The guy at the next table took the box because he had ordered before me. That's hilarious that we ordered the EXACT same thing:Dinner Plate andMinute chicken Cake noodle LOL! I waited a few minutes more and got my dinner! My meal smelled so delicious in the car. I hurried home to enjoy the excellent Minute chicken - it had a slightly smokey essence, was tasty and tender! The cake noodles were ok... maybe I waited too long to eat them because they weren't crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. Maybe the noodles were too thick? I appreciated the gravy and veggies in a different container so that the noodles didn't get mushy.Anyway, the Dinner Plate was yummy. I liked the fried foods (wonton, chicken wings, and shrimp canton) in a separate brown bag. The fried rice, chicken chow min, pot roast pork, and sweet sour spare ribs were satisfying. This is local comfort food. Don't expect fancy Hong Kong style cuisine. If you're from Hawaii, you'll like this place!Four and a half stars, rounded up to five stars!

This is the former location of the House of Dragon Chop Suey in the Pearl City Shopping Center at 850 Kamehameha Highway. It was closed up for the longest time. Approximately, 3 weeks ago they opened up. After the craft fair we decided to eat here as we was already done packing up and haven't eaten lunch or dinner yet. The food came out right away and it looked like a mountain of food on the plate. It looked good, it smelled good and it tasted good. The service was fast as it was around 3:30pm. Earlier it was packed from the time they opened till around 2:30pm. The ambiance is casual and the noise is average or a little less as there wasn't that much people at the time. The place is nice, bright and clean inside. The prices were really reasonable as we looked at the menu and there was so many food choices to choose from. We decided on the dinner plate as it has a little of everything. Every 1st Sunday of the month we have a craft fair there. We will be trying other things on their menu next time. We didn't even look to see if there was any desserts on their menu as we were stuffed like a bear.

Recently renovated and a lot more spacious. I don't know if it's the same owners as House of Dragon but it's in the same location. So happy to have a Chinese Restaurant back in the shopping center. There's lots of seating based on how big your group is. They also seem busier than the previous restaurant so that must be a good sI went in for take out since it was my birthday. Prices seem pretty affordable.Food is a lot better, a lot less oily. Will be back.

Delicious food, quick service, and kind staff. We ordered the egg flower soup, soft gau gee mein, salt and pepper squid, and honey walnut shrimp. Overall, it was all really yummy and I would definitely come back just for the salt and pepper squid. The portions were smaller than I expected, especially the lack of noodles in the soft gau gee mein, but for $13.99, I wouldn't expect it to be any larger. The salt and pepper squid was the highlight. It was hot, crispy, and perfectly flavored. There were quite a few peppers so some of the pieces were spicy and some weren't.They charged $10 for rice for four people. I found that a little interesting as I've never seen a charge for rice. I'm very happy a new restaurant opened here as my family frequented the old Chinese restaurant that used to be in this location. I would argue that this experience was an upgrade! I definitely will be returning.
