Came here after seeing a YouTube video about them. This little grocery store is legit.. you'll find handmade dumplings and pastries that you won't find in other places.Their pandan honeycomb cake was SOOO good and so big! My friend got a pork and shrimp filled dumpling that is typically wrapped in a banana leaf and she said usually you can only find it at family gatherings. It was really good! Everything is SO fresh!

I walked and walked, almost every block in Chinatown to find ingredients necessary to make Vietnamese noodle soup called bun rieu. The store I frequent near River Street, was closed and I'm not sure if that's due to covid.... Anyway, my search was over, this was almost as hard as finding a needle in a haystack!Thank you to Kevin, this nice young man was very patient and extremely helpful with me as I don't speak Chinese or Vietnamese to describe what I was looking for. Nice variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Pretty good selection of canned or jarred items. And guess what, they had the noodles I need too! What makes this store stand out....they have homemade pork loaf and look fun! Hurry while supplies last :)*Bonus find: $4 masks of all colors and patterns!

I've been shopping in Chinatown for AGES and I have my go-to places for all sorts of items. Many times I'll walk up and down Kekaulike St and will pass by Gon & Ti (GT). Located on the Ewa side of Kekaulike St that is near the corner of N King St., GT is a produce store and you may just be impressed like how I am when I pass by their store. I tend to marvel over their display of their fresh fruits and veggies lined up so nicely. And many times I check out their Vietnamese prepacked and cooked items. GT is also on the cleaner side, compared to other stalls in Chinatown.I do appreciate how they carry locally grown products and seasonal items. If you're looking to make Vietnamese food at home, GT is a great place to stop by with the large array of fresh herbs and vegetables to accompany many dishes. When time is the essence, I notice that at times GT carries bittermelon that has been cleaned AND sliced. They are packed nicely and most times can be found in their chiller inside. If you come here early I highly advise you to check out their prepacked cooked items. They have a large selection of savory and sweet items ranging from assorted dumplings, glutinous rice, house made steamed and fried pork rolls (cha lua), rice cakes, baked goodies, look funn rolls....and more.I am also very appreciative on how most of their produce clearly have a pricing sign so you know what you're paying for. So far everything about GT is so good but why only 3-stars?I used to come here a lot but had several bad shopping experiences where I downgraded GT and removed them as one of my go-to places. I was cooking bulk and needed more pre-cleaned and sliced bittermelon but was flatly turned down. I was willing to come back later but was still denied. They clearly had whole and uncleaned bittermelon on display but couldn't be bothered in making more. Moreover, after shopping I proceeded to pay but the line to the outside cashier was long. I then walked to the register inside and MULTIPLE times was ignored by the staff behind the counter as they spoke in Vietnamese. I stood there waiting until I interrupted their conversation. Just recently, I was standing in line outside to pay and a patron in front of me was complaining of people not practicing social distancing during COVID-19. So, I opted to pay inside and the cashier, who in turn became annoyed on why I tried to pay for my purchase inside. I had to explain the chaos going outside and I was trying to alleviate social distancing concerns.Overall, GT is a great place to pick up produce and Vietnamese related ingredients and food but sadly I've had multiple instances of below-par customer service that makes me want to shop elsewhere instead.

Gon & Ti is there along Kekaulike St., next to the other part of 555, but often overlooked because... well, it's not really eye-appealing. You'll just take a glance over and see rows of overripe bananas, wilted leafy vegetables, brown spotted eggplants, rough, rigidity carrots, etc. However, the coconut man is here! You want fresh young coconut juice straight from the coconut? Get it here! This was a decent place to shop at with many quality produce at excellent prices, but after a couple of ownership changes (or management changes), it's not the same anymore. I usually pass by this store when I'm walking in between the vendors inside Kekaulike Market and Xin Wang Market, but I was in need of a coconut to make Coconut Chicken Soup. The store I normally go to was closed, and I just remembered that Gon & Ti has coconut. They sell different size coconuts both young and old. The nice coconut man helped me choose one, but I still had to shake it to listen to the juice inside lol. That's all I bought here. You can pay outside, or venture inside for dry and frozen goods, prepared foods, and other Vietnamese delicacies. It's a little dark and dank in there, but it's an open store without or just barely any air conditioning.Overall, Gon & Ti doesn't look good from the outside, and you need to have great timing for fresh produce, but if you need a coconut and fresh coconut juice, then ask the coconut man outside, and he will hack one open with his giant machete. Stand back!

Hidden gem!Growing up, most kids would get hot pockets or pizza rolls as an afterschool snack, not me. My family frequent Chinatown, so I would get Chinese, Vietnamese, or Chinese, Vietnamese fusion food afterschool. I would eat things like xoi (colorful sticky rice), che bap (Vietnamese corn dessert, banh cam (jin dui, but with mung bean in the center and coated with syrup), mochi-esk desserts, tang yuan (mochi in soup), look fun (rice rolls), baos, etc. You get the point HahaMost of the goodies would actually come from this stall! Everything is made fresh daily and I highly recommend you come early because they sell out. I really enjoy the sweet desserts, but they also sell savory snacks too. They also have frozen foods and drinks in the refrigerated section inside and fruits and veggies outside. I've been searching high and low for nem nuong and I FINALLY FOUND IT! Definitely coming back to pick up more. Thanks for reading my reviews! Let me know what I should try next!!
