This is an awesome omakase spot under $100. It's a small spot tucked near the kitchen area of Buho.I was originally persuaded to make a reservation after reading an article in Frolic...intrigued by their Japanese + Mexican take on omakase. After sitting through 12 courses, I was a bit perplexed because the only Mexican flavor I picked up on was the horchata ice cream at the end. I asked the chef and she explained that they've slowly moved away from the Mexican fusion. If you go, don't except fusion dishes.Nonetheless the omakase was delicious and everything was well prepared and executed...just wanted to experience something more unique which wasn't the case. My favorite dishes were the A5 waygu, chawanmushi, and uni toast...the latter was impeccably created in front of us. This spot may be hard to find so suggest you take the elevator inside Waikiki Shopping Plaza to the 5th floor or there is a dedicated elevator for Buho on Kalakaua Avenue between Victoria's Secret and Sephora. When I dined there, they mentioned it was fully booked but two parties didn't show up...made me wonder if people were confused with how to find the restaurant. Once you get to Buho, check in with the Buho staff/reception stand and they'll take you to Fukurou.

I took my husband here to celebrate his birthday. It's a very hard place to find. You have to find the restaurant "Buho" as Fokurou is run out of this other restaurant. They have you wait at the bar or the fire table which is nice and you can order any drinks you want and bring them to your table once it's ready. We were led to the back of the Buho restaurant to an unmarked tall white door the opened to very small room with 8 seats at a bar top and greated by multiple Japanese employees. Who, btw, were so incredibly nice and welcoming!I was driving us and ordered an alcoholic drink that was WAY to strong for me to be able to drive later and they were so nice to accommodate and offer me a different drink without charging us for the first one!The food was absolutely amazing. There were many courses but they were small so you never felt you were overeating! The only downside was the other group was of 6 friends so it was extremely loud and hard to have a conversation. We didn't mind too too much but it definitely took away from the intimacy I wanted for this dinner which was why I booked at this restaurant in the first place as there are only 8 seats.Overall it was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend!

A hidden gem on the roof top of Buho Cantina. Fukurou delivers on quality, service, and takes you away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Likely one of the most inexpensive Omakase meals at $90 pp, on the island but doesn't skimp on fine dining ingredients like Wagyu, uni, Ikura, snow crab, otoro. Two seatings a day with only eight sushi counter seats where you have an intimate view of the chef preparing each bite. 11 courses total, including the dessert. Upon the savory courses, the chef offered any diners that needed more bites the option to add ala cart. I was comfortably full so declined but later learned they were only $10 per additional bite. I certainly would have had another uni toast and Wagyu taco. Our entire group enjoyed dinner, and I would highly recommend. Make a reservation and go enjoy life with great company & food. 3 hour validated parking in the building garage.

13 courses with lots of variety. For $90 a person I thought this was a great value. We had wagyu taco and uni toast. I thought the dishes were very unique. The place was very hard to find. Once you park you have to go to the very top floor and find buho. The restaurant is located inside of buho.

I was able to get a reservation for my friend and I last minute and I'm so glad I did! Fukurou was a bit confusing to get to so we walked around for a bit until we found Buho and then they directed us to Fukurou's entrance. The food is so good! We went through several courses and the quality of all the pieces were fantastic. Our favorite was the kan-buri so we opted to revisit that one in the end. The chawanmushi with crab roe was also really good too. Miki and her assistant were super kind and Miki explained each course before we were about to eat it. The place is super intimate so unfortunately the people you're seated with kind of matters. The group next to us was a bit loud and you could really hear every bit of their conversation.I highly recommend coming to Fukurou to try it out! Will be back if I can snag another reservation.

11/15/24: Fukurou's omakase (which includes a decent amount of bougie stuff) for only $90 was AMAZING! This affordable and intimate dining experience was an absolute pleasure and I wouldn't hesitate to come back. It's located in @buhocantina , and there's 9 seats max and alcoholic beverages available for purchase. MENU:*Kabocha nitsuke*SIGNATURE: Blue fin ahi, quail egg yolk*Soba and tempura anago*Sanma *Ika*Kinmedai*Chawanmushi*Wagyu "taco"*Ora king salmon*Uni Ikura*Negitoro handroll*Goma pudding and horchata ice creamSome bites were just pure perfection and the portions are pretty generous. Everything tasted very fresh. You have the option of adding more of any course, but I was perfectly content by the end of the meal. I highly recommend and I look forward to returning.

This dinner was honestly such a treat. I gotta be honest with you, I have no idea how to get in here regularly lol we went in through the side of Buho? but all the workers were really nice and directed our group to the hostess stand.Very intimate space. It's surprisingly sound proof as well because we couldn't hear the music bumping outside til we had to step out to use the restroom! The course was amazing!! The fish was so fresh and melted in my mouth. I wish I could have stayed longer to revisit the wagyu taco but unfortunately our group had to dip out. If you have the means to do the omakase course, I highly recommend it!!

It's a bit difficult to find this restaurant. My wife and I made a reservation to celebrate my birthday, but at the time, the sister-restaurant was throwing a Halloween party, so they asked us to enter through the back door. We went to the back door as instructed, but there was no one to let us in. Ultimately, we went through Buho, and was escorted to the 9 person omakase spot. After finally getting to the restaurant, the service as amazing! Our plates and glasses were quickly removed, or refilled. The server checked on us often to see if we needed anything. The chef explained every bite, and the quality is super fresh. This was going to be my 5th meal of the day, so I didn't come hungry, but if you're still hungry after all the courses, you can revisit certain courses. Throughout the night, you can hear the loud dance music from Buho, but it wasn't too distracting. My favorite bites were the tuna, seared salmon, and the wagyu beef. Everything was delicious, and there wasn't a bite I didn't like. For the price, it was very affordable and good value for California standards. Would definitely recommend and come back.

An Omakase that's delicious and $$ friendly, in my opinion. Hidden behind the Buho restaurants in Waikiki holds an intimate -9 person only- omakase spot. For someone that doesn't do omakase often, this is a really good ease into the experience. The flavors weren't as exotic as I thought it would be. Simple, savory, delicate 13 courses left me full and happy. Towards the end, our sushi chef even asked if we would enjoy a repeat of any of the courses received. Staples were: garlic seared salmon, toro, and the wagyu! It was a below $100 13 course, not including my yummy additions at the end. I'd recommend to anyone just starting off their omakase journey!
