Don't know why my husband and I have been on a major Mexican food kick lately. Each week we have been exploring different local eateries and sampling their take on Mexican cuisine.This week brought us to Freshoverflesh. Having settled on being full on flexitarian, I don't mind the use of meat substitutes such as soy or tempeh as in the case of today's giant order of tacos.Both the "chicken" tempeh and soy "steak" tacos were yummy and flavorful. They had a nice kick to them, but not overwhelmingly spicy. Since we brought the tacos home, my hubby added a little sour cream on his tacos, and I squeezed on lots of fresh lime to add even more freshness. I especially liked their tortillas.Would love to try out more of their menu options in the future.

Freshoverflesh will pleasantly surprised vEgans and non-vegans alike. With fried "chicken" wings and hamburgers, these fast food favorites are perfect for game day, whether that's the Super Bowl or the upcoming season of RuPaul's Drag Race. Banana flower is a massive opportunity found for the vegan meat trend. A blind taste test might even fool non-vegans into mistaking it for the real deal. The buffalo sauce and ranch dressing will satisfy your cravings without leaving you with the heavy feeling. Keep an eye out for an appearance at the Sunday vegan night market off Maunakea. You may even luck out and find desserts and fresh juices as a perfect complement.

An incredible hidden gem in Ward area. It's actually located inside of Fishcake! We order the quesadilla and it was soooo good- creamy and thick. I loved the pickled onions and sauce that came with it

Freshoverflesh is amazing! I had seen some reviews, but truthfully gave up on having good tacos in Hawaii, but FOF restore my faith. Their ordering is a little difficult as is finding their location, but all worth it for the awesomeness. I'm vegan, the rest of my family is not, but we all enjoy FOF. Some vegan food tastes ok for being vegan, but FOF is just outright delicious food. Can't wait to see them expand.

Best vegan tamales in Hawaii! I've been looking for vegetarian tamales since I returned from college, and I haven't found a good one until now! I love how the banana flowers look like pork, but taste so much better. The collard greens ads a little Southern twist. And the beans and rice are delicious!! Pre-order or walk in there's a few seats.

If you want to try vegan food at its best. This is it. I look forward to Freshoverflesh popping up during the week at the good vibes center since I can't make the Sunday night pop up and can't always make it to the feats they frequent. I have had tacos, eggplant parm, buffalo chicken sandwich and they all are the bomb. I wouldn't share a bite with anyone and crave more even though I'm full AF. I am always checking Instagram to see where they will pop up next. I hope they will always keep this business going. It's amazing and I'm happy to keep themIn business. It's been so long since I've had some Fresh over Flesh! I'm not vegan but am trying to eat less meat and this is some of the best vegan food I've had. I've never tried any of her food outside of the Mexican (pop-up?) She had running out of a kitchen in Kalihi. Queso? Amazing! Quesadillas, burritos, tacos...omgggg! I love Mexican food and it's actually one of the only times I regularly indulge in red meat when I eat it so I love that I found a vegan fix. Follow her account on IG for more updates. I think she's making a food truck and doing pop ups in the meantime. Seems to be different food now (still looks incredible) but I have not tried any of it. Excited to try some of the other food and get back to the Mexican as well!

Yo, wow. I had the privilege of enjoying the holiday plate in November. Straight fire. They really know what they are doing, such deep flavor in every dish. They made this banana blossom cutlet, and it's super bomb. Dope crew as well with a chill vibe. I hope I can one day be blessed to taste the jackfruit wings.

Some of the best vegan food I have eaten in over 20 years of being vegan. I have now eaten from Freshoverflesh a few times and I look forward to eating anything they have to offer as the food is excellent, tasty, flavorful and makes me feel happy to my core. Thank you for providing such amazing food that nourishes both the body and the soul!

The food was great would definitely return here, The vegan fried chicken was great , my first time here and not my last!
