Pretty damn infuriating when you place your RESERVED order a week in advance only for them to tell you in person when you show up that they don't have your RESERVED items. No attempt to tell me in advance so I didn't have to drive 45 min? or even offer the item if they get more?Guess it's better to just go somewhere else

Solid spot! I wanted to get some fish to make a poke bowl and saw this location so decided to swing in. Lots of options from ahi, oysters, crab meat, salmon, etc. They were busy with plenty of customers picking up their pre-orders but they moved so quick. Very efficient!

Mahalo to the people at Fresh Island Fish. They're great in adjusting their overall business model to help meet the needs of local customers and keep their business afloat during this crazy pandemic. If you like "fresh" fish, they currently offer freshly caught fish to the general public at wholesale pricing. A winning combination that you just can't beat... Eat, Eat, Eat...Ordering is simple, go to their website and click "Shop". Place your order online. Pick-up is only available on Wednesday or Saturday depending on the date you placed your order. A confirmation email is sent with your order number and the time slot for pick-up Pick-up location 1135 N Nimitz Hwy at Pier 38's parking lot. Be sure to arrive within your pick-up time window as they cut and pack orders by time slots to ensure maximum freshness. On the day of pick-up, social distancing is required and ask that you remain in your vehicle at all times. Drive up and you'll be greeted by a friendly representative who will confirm your order on their iPad. Once confirmed, drive up and their staff will place your order directly into your vehicle. Everything is packed well and they even include an ice pack to keep your fish fresh if you forget to bring a cooler. Enjoy!

We ordered from here twice over the past couple months and are pleased overall with the quality of the fish. The first order about six weeks ago seemed slightly better than last weeks order, especially the poke. Both times we ordered 3 packages of ahi and a poke kit. We eat the poke the first night and last time cut the prime part off for sashimi. One of the things I like is that they trim the skin off. They also wrap each piece of ahi well so it doesn't leak.TIP on freezing and prep. We cut the ahi into steaks and wrap them individually then freeze them in packages of 4 or 5 steaks to use for one meal. Our latest way of preparing the ahi is baking them in parchment paper (you can buy it at Longs or Safeway by the Saran Wrap). I prep veggies like spinach, thinly sliced peppers zucchini, shiitake, ginger, and have jars of mayo, oyster sauce, chili paste, shoyu. Each person can make their own packet of veggies, sauce and ahi. Look on YouTube or google for recipes (papillote or cooking fish in parchment.)

True entrepreneurship is when you come up with genius ideas amidst a worldwide pandemic. Due to closures of restaurants, fishermen has a hard time selling off their inventory of fresh catches, Fresh Island Fish cane up with the idea of retail sales. At first, it was chaotic with the wait and organization of the sales. But within one weeks time, they setup online ordering and payment system and also streamlined the pickup process, while maintaining social distancing. Bravo to the Fresh Island Fish team! It's truly a win win for all. I am glad that I got to enjoy some fresh ahi to cheer me up. Eat local support local.

Fresh Island Fish is typically a wholesaler to restaurants however with the pandemic going on and so many restaurants closed or slower than normal, they began a retail pick up.At first (maybe around April), they began selling to the public on a first come, first served basis. I heard the wait was sometimes 2 hours! They quickly adjusted and now have online preorders (and prepayment). It seems they do preorders on a Thursday at noon (and they sell out within minutes so you need to be fast!). Before checking out, you must also select a pick up window preference: 8-9a, 9-10a or 10-11a.On Friday, you receive a confirmation email with your order number, pick up window and also which line to drive in when you arrive. They color code the lines (ex: purple and red lines) and some of the text in your email is the color of the line you need to be in so there is no mistaking where to go.When you arrive on Saturday during your pick up window, you get in the line as directed on your order email. You may either have your email on your phone or printed ready or even write the order number down on paper. First you will show your order number to a person who types it into their iPad. You then follow the line forward and at the front of the line, there are huge coolers that the staff pull your order from. The fish are all bagged and tagged by order number. This company seriously has made one of the biggest pivots I've seen in the pandemic. From changing their customer base to finding a better organized system for distribution - amazing!!Oh... and the fish is amazing, so fresh! My favorite is definitely the salmon!

Was referred by a coworker who previously bought fish from here and it was worth every penny! Bought 4 lbs of sashimi grade ahi for $26! We were able to get 3 very filling meals out of it. Fish was very fresh and packaged well. When we checked out online, we were able to select a preferred pickup time. We selected the last pickup slot and there was no line to pickup. Pickup transaction was very quick and smooth. Thank you Fresh Island Fish for selling quality fish during COVID-19! We will definitely buy again!

Among the hardships of 2020, Fresh Island Fish was a blessing.During COVID-19, they began selling fish directly to consumers (no middle man) due to the shutdown and closure of the food industry. I've ordered from them 4 times already and have not been disappointed! Back in April, I spent almost 2 hours waiting in a car-line to purchase fish on a first come first serve basis. Ahi was going for $4/lb! Unbelievable! Now, they have only accept online orders, which sell out within minutes, and pick-up from Pier 38 is organized and seamless. Fresh Island Fish has been amazing, especially considering that they weren't a retailer pre-covid. Although the prices are no longer $4/lb, the freshness is unbeatable and buying from them is supports local fishermen. As long as they keep selling, I'll keep buying!

Check out what they advertised as Ahi Poke Cubes. Really looked like AHI SCRAPS. Not going to order that again. It was fresh but it seemed like it was watered down during the rinsing, didn't taste right. Look at my picturesFirst off you sign up on their website, they email you with what they have available for pick up on Wednesday, you have a one hour window which is good, very organized pick up,fish wrapped and on a piece of refreezable ice jel pack.Complained and they said that I got the wrong order, picked up my poke cubes today. Their website is a bit confusing, if you want to add their kit to make poke it $3.00 more.
