I really wanted a meal prep service to take some of the drudgery out of cooking dinner day in and day out. I was so disappointed with Fresh Box.First, this saved some time, but not as much as I expected. They pick the menus and shop, but do NO ingredient prep, so I was still trimming and slicing carrots and onions and potatoes, meat, etc. Plus the meals took awhile to prep and cook - 45 minutes to an hour each night.Second, the recipes aren't easy. For one meal, I had 4 different things cooking at the same time. That a lot to stay on top of.Third, recipes were not detailed enough. It says cook until tender? About how long it that? Without at least ballpark times, how do I know when I need to start cooking?Fourth, ingredients don't match the recipes. The recipe called for onions, but there were none. The bag had potatoes, but it never used them in the recipe. I added the potatoes when it said to add the missing onions and hoped. Tonight's meal called for Dijon mustard and they sent a packet of Chinese hot mustard. Not the same thing guys!Fifth, the packaging is just head scratching. The whole thing comes in a big cardboard box with styrofoam and gel packs. When I had CSA (produce delivery) they used a reusable bag that I gave back along with the gel packs, but I guess I just throw these gel packs away. Then the ingredients for each meal were in a paper bag. But the produce was just tossed in with no wrapping at all. The corn and squash and spinach all dried out in the fridge. By the third night, the veggies were just sad looking.Sixth, it required tools I don't own. Tonight I'm supposed to be grilling corn on a grill plate. I don't have a grill plate. And I live in a condo, so no grill. What do I do?Never again.

Man COVID...as much as I strongly dislike you, you have definitely brought out some surprisingly positive outcomes. Who ever thought I'd FINALLY start cooking?!Thanks to fresh Box, I am more confident and EXCITED about cooking in the kitchen. They make it simple by providing 99% of the ingredients you need (You usually need to provide your own oil, salt, and pepper, which is totally doable). The box comes with 3 different meals. There are 2 diff size boxes (box that feeds 2 ppl/meal or box that feeds 4 ppl/meal). I can't emphasize enough how SIMPLE and FUN it was to make all three dishes. We had a chicken and roasted asparagus pasta, furikake salmon with soba and kale chips, and Italian wedding soup. Each meal comes with easy, comprehensive instructions and can take from 1-2hrs to make (depending how slow you cut your vegetables lol).I will definitely be purchasing another box in the future. Thank you fresh BOX for getting me out of my comfort zone and sparking joy in cooking :)

I enjoy cooking but I lack culinary creativity, which is why I really love FreshBox. No more meal planning or waiting in long lines at the grocery store for fresh ingredients. Everything gets delivered to your door on a Tuesday afternoon. Although convenience is a huge factor for ordering FreshBox, the recipes themselves are healthy, bright, and flavorful! How it works: Order online by Friday. Each box comes with all the ingredients needed (protein, vegetables, etc). All you need are cooking utensils/pans and some salt, pepper, and oil. Cost: $75 and change (after tax) for 3 meals with portions to serve 2 people each. The portions are perfect for me and my boyfriend. We are always full but usually don't have any leftovers. Over the years I've tried at least a dozen recipes and almost every single one was a complete home run. They feel gourmet and fair for the price. If you really want to analyze it, you pay about $12/person a meal. Sounds hefty, BUT the quality of the ingredients and the preparation that goes into the recipes is equivalent to eating out in my opinion. They try to include as many locally sourced ingredients as possible which is a plus! Some of my favorite recipes include the Hoison pork bowl w/ pickled carrots over Onda pasta, Spicy peanut chicken, and the Charred long beans w/ enoki mushrooms and chicken. If I had any criticism to give, it would be that sometimes the protein is prepared too simply for my own taste preference. The recipes often ask to just broil the chicken, steak, or fish after seasoning with salt and pepper so I will usually get a little creative and add some garlic and whatnot for extra flavor. Also, the meals are set so if you don't care for a specific protein I'm not sure how lenient fresh box is in accommodating changes. Overall, fresh box is an absolute game changer for me. My rolodex of recipes was becoming tired and boring and I was having trouble thinking up new healthy meal ideas. Cooking has never been more fun, easy, and tasty!

I've been with Fresh Box a couple of weeks now, and it's the best way to eat fresh and local. I love the family Box because everyone helps with the cooking, and we eat together as a family which is rare nowadays. It's made a huge difference in our eating habits, and with our family closeness. I wish Fresh Box came with a way to make the kids do the dishes. The veggies, and meat are local, fresh, healthy and delicious l. I did the cost comparison and it's less than if I were to go grocery shopping for all the ingredients they send. Great Deal, thank you

I love how each Fresh Box meal is a fun and interesting experience, and often quick and easy to prepare. Don't get me wrong, there are complex mixtures of flavors in certain dishes, but often the recipes highlight a certain flavor, food trend, culture, cooking style, or ingredient. Fresh Box has really helped to broaden my experience with and outlook on food.Ordering is simple via their website. You get weekly emails reminding you to order and showing you what recipes to look forward to for the following week. You order whenever you want, and don't have to sign up for automatic weekly delivery, although I think that option is there. Their food pictures are enticing, and make you want to order. The Fresh Box is delivered to your home. If you're not there, they leave it according to your directions. There is ice in the box, so food will not spoil. Everything that you need to cook the meal, except the basic salt, pepper, and oil, is in the box. You follow recipe cards to make the meals. Directions are clear and easy to understand. Pictures on the recipe cards help confirm how something is supposed to be prepared or look.Portions are almost always generous. There were a couple of times when I wished there was more of a certain food or ingredient (like peanuts or cranberries) in the dish, but this is rare. Protein portions used to be small, but are now satisfying. The protein variety is also excellent, and I especially love how they use local beef from Kuona Cattle Company. If you don't care for a certain type of meat, you can often substitute it with chicken. It would be nice if they had more tofu dishes. My pix below show chicken and beef, but they have pork and a variety of fish, too.Fresh Box meals are often healthy, and don't make you feel lethargic after eating. There are usually no heavy sauces smothering the flavor of the food. I love being able to taste distinct flavors of each ingredient, yet also experiencing how spices or foods can blend harmoniously. The dishes are also very photogenic!

ATTENTION BUSY PEOPLE!Do you like to have fresh healthy home cooked meals but "don't have time" or "don't know how to cook"? Fresh Box takes the time and guess work out of cooking! They do the shopping for you. They give you a nice re-usable COLOR step by step recipe card. THEY DELIVER THE BOX TO YOU. All you need to have is salt, pepper, maybe oil and 20-30minutes to throw it together. Tonight I left work at 5p, picked up daughter, got my son, went to baseball practice, did homework with daughter at Kapiolani park, finished practice at 6:30, got home at 6:45, and HAD A HOT HOME COOKED DINNER ON TABLE BY 7:10! INTRODUCTORY PRICE$72+tax includes 3 different meals for 2, so you get SIX DINNERS. $12/serving is pretty reasonable, especially if you look at the amount of time it saves you. Time is money! Order by Friday, get your box the following Tuesday!NO WASTAGEHow many times have you gone to Costco to buy spinach and dumped half the bag when it got moldy? Or have you ever had to buy a whole container of dry mustard when you really only needed 1 tsp? FreshBOX gives you just the right amount of all the ingredients you need so you don't have to buy a whole bunch of parsley or a whole bag of potatoes when all you need is one. EASY TO FOLLOW RECIPE CARDSEven my kids can follow along with the nice pictures and step by step instructions. I'm going to make sure they know how to cook and this how I'm going to start teaching them. If you think outside "the box" you can stretch six meals into 8 or 9 meals by adding a few items. For example, next week I'm using my gluten free pasta for the kale ragu, and using the freshBOX pasta to make the kids their buttered pasta. (2 meals just became 4)TRY NEW FLAVORS AND FOODSIt's fun to try new foods and play with recipes that I wouldn't normally even try on my own. The produce that they sent was very impressive. The tomato was PERFECT. The pear had NO BRUISES. The sweet potato was symmetrical. I don't know where they get these perfect fruits and vegetables from but they were perfection. However, I did notice that the perfect brussell sprouts that I ate a few hours ago are making me have very stinky farts. Does that happen to you guys too when you eat brussell sprouts?PORTION CONTROLOhhh. So that's what two portions look like. So my problem appears to be portion control because I wanted to eat ALL of the pan fried fish in ONE sitting, when it really should be for TWO. No leftovers to put away, because each recipe is perfect for 2 people. Thank you Kyle H for introducing me to FreshBOX. Me love you long time. Both of you.

Definitely a go-to for busy weeks... I like that fresh Box is local and sources local. I tried to look into other meal boxes but none seem to deliver to Hawaii! Although the price may seem expensive in comparison to the mainland box meals ($79.39 for the regular box and $87.96 for the gluten free box) you have to remember that this is Hawaii, and everything here is more expensive. The portions are nicely sized. I can either get 2 full meals when I cook for myself and my boyfriend or 3 meals when I'm cooking for just 1. I also like that the recipes are generally healthy.. usually under 500 calories per serving. Instructions cards are fully colored and easy to understand. I like to save them in a folder to make again on my own. Delivery is a breeze. I have my fresh Box ordered to my office and it lasts all work day without refrigeration (the ice packs are really good). The only thing is that I wish there could be some type of recycling program... I feel bad wasting them every time I order a new box. I only had one mix up so far with a missing ingredient. However, I had that ingredient at home so it was no problem! fresh Box also offered $5 off the next box because of the mistake.

What, 3 meals in a box delivered to my door? Sign me up! After seeing pictures and hearing about fresh BOX I finally tried it and wow it was amazing. Oh wait, it's not pre-cooked meals in a box? So I still have to cook :-(...I love how the menu changes each week and am like a kid at Christmas waiting for the box to be delivered on Tuesday. Cracking it open, there are 3 meals for two people for $72, portioned and measured out in separate containers and a bag for each meal with all the ingredients, except a few items like oil, salt, and pepper. The proteins are packed at the bottom, with an ice pack on the top. Then the vegetables and seasonings are packed separately on top of the ice pack. All is then in an insulated pouch in a box, delivered to me. All I have to worry about is prep and cooking and voila I have a pro chef's meal prepared by me.I love the service because we end up wasting less since everything is perfectly portioned out. No having to shop for ingredients and plan a menu. The recipe cards are in color with a nutritional breakdown, pictures, and step by step instructions. Yay, dummy proof for me! Plus, it's a way to add variety to our everyday cooking and to let us try things outside our normal comfort zone. It tastes great and is healthy too.

After following these guys on Instagram for over a year, I finally ordered a box. We had a busy week coming and the opportunity to have some of our meals pre planned and delivered to the door with everything we needed sounded like perfection. The whole concept here is 3 local, healthy, portioned out meals for two with everything you need [minus salt, pepper & EVOO] delivered to your door on Tuesdays. Every week the menu changes and is posted ahead of time. You can choose between 3 meals for two or four and my favorite part of this service is that you pick every week if you want to receive it. No automatic preorder or charging, you get the option to decide how you feel about the menu and if it's helpful that week. With tax choosing the two person plan, it was about $75 or $25 a night. Tuesday arrived and I was mildly nervous about when my box would be delivered as I work but when I arrived home at 4pm I saw the box at my door. Each dinner had its own bag of ingredients, recipe card & protein frozen under reusable ice bags. How relieved I was to see those ice bags and how impressed I was with the Freshbox service. Each bag of ingredients looked fresh & the directions were simple + included pictures. You can pick the order of your dinners. Our menu was delicious! We started off with steak fajitas with peppers, onions & jalapeños, topped with smashed avocado & cilantro in taro tortillas. YUM! I was shocked at the portion size [that was our biggest concern]. Next up was thyme scented cod over confit tomatoes & onions with sautéed potatoes & string beans. Fresh, filling & very healthy. I'm weird about seafood but the seasoning was perfect. Finally, we had chicken thighs with mushroom farro risotto, zucchini & almonds. This was delicious on all levels. New farro fan here! I cannot believe how easy it was to make these meals and the ease it brought to my prep and clean up. Fast, east, healthy, yummy & portioned. This made me feel like I had a person chef... Except gasp! I was the chef. ;) We will definitely be ordering again, can't wait to try another menu!

Introducing my latest #LifeHack find and one that I'm sharing with everyone I know who enjoys eating good food! If Kim Kardashian's butt is God's gift to men, then Fresh Box is God's gift to busy working mothers everywhere!!! As a working mother of three children putting dinner on the table can be tough, but with Fresh Box I get to be a cooking goddess in the kitchen and my husband has a home cooked gourmet meal at least three times a week! Pre-pay for the box with your credit card and view your three meals for the week.PRICE: $72 per week for three Fresh Box dinners which feed two people. $12 per meal per person.DELIVERY: On Tuesday a box is delivered to your door. It's okay if you're not home because the Fresh Box is packed in a cooler bag with ice packs. Genius!REFRIGERATE: Put your Fresh Box dinners in your fridge and pull them out whatever night you're ready to cook.COOK: Pick a dinner and grab the easy to follow recipe card. Yes, you have to cook your meal but it's really fun and easy! Ingredients are all packaged together so you just chop, cook on the stovetop and you're done in 20-25 minutes. It's okay if you're not a great cook because the recipes and instructions are truly foolproof. All you need to have in stock are olive oil, salt, pepper, knife, cutting board, pot and pan. Basics everyone should have in their home.HEALTHY: Yes, these delicious dinners are totally healthy and very filling! My husband usually finishes his portion and has a full stomach. I usually eat half my portion and eat the rest the next day.So far we're on our third week of Fresh Box and it's one of the greatest things I've done to make our home life happier! No longer do I stress out over what we'll have for dinner. You might gawk at $72 but we can easily spend that much eating out at a restaurant which is nowhere near as healthy and delicious. Now my kids get to eat their usual regimen of "kid friendly" fare and we eat fancy comfort fare that we look forward to preparing together. It's like date night and cooking school all rolled into one! Do yourself a favor and order a Fresh Box. You will LOVE IT!!!
