Fred's Sundries

While on a good walk around Chinatown, you would think that there would be only produce or homeless people here. However, there's a store where you can find some snacks and drinks that you WILL NOT FIND in your local Long's or Safeway: at Fred's Sundries. Stumbling upon here years ago, I'm now a regular customer. Sure, I only buy a few things every now and then, BUT IF I want to surprise the wife WITH a snack from Asia...here's where you'll find it in Chinatown!! Plus, the owners are awesome!! They also are FLUENT in English; NOT LIKE OTHER PLACES...This review may be one of my shortest, but if you trust my instincts (and you're in the area with a munchie craving), give this place a try!! You won't regret it. Cheers.

A very convenient location in Chinatown, this sundries store is your typical one that sells all sorts of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, canned goods and tobacco. What makes this place better than most places? The service. It was nice to have a conversation without having a difficult time understanding what is being said as well as being barked at when they approach you. I recall Fred's Sundries in existence when I was a young child growing up in Chinatown. I'm pretty sure the owners have changed but I found today's shopping experience very nostalgic. I only went to buy some cold drinks but I saw bags of chips and assorted candy bars I stumbled into here today. It was a walk down memory lane. I usually go to CJ Market, which is closer but due to the late hours of opening on Sundays I walked further down Ewa side to this store.

Cigarettes went up to $6.95/pack! Owner said "Crown" brand is cheaper than "LD" brand so he is going to TRY to get it. We'll see.

Love this shop! Friendly young couple running it. They carry all kinds of sodas/soft drinks here. Liquor prices are cheaper than ABC. Stop by here on your visit to Chinatown and you won't regret it.
