Great place for a party. This is a spacious and beautiful location on the AF side of the base. The facility has a full fridge and working deep sink. There are a couple or outlets if you want to bring a radio or rice cooker ;) And you can't have rice without having some kind of meat. There's two stationary grills on property. The trash is taken out by management when you turn the keys back in and pick up your deposit. I believe the deposit is $250. There are bathrooms in the back. No porta potties thank God. No real flying creatures to stanch your food and plenty of fresh air. You will get the occasional roar of a plane engine since the runway is close by and sometimes you see a naval ship just off the coast heading out or doing maneuvers. Overall five stars. The scenery is beautiful and he can't beat the price. M

Foster Point Peninsula on Hickam AFB is the absolute worst place for a picnic lunch! Please don't go there. It is so ugly! It is surrounded on three sides by pristine azure waters... YUCK! You can see the skyline of Honolulu and the silhouette of Diamond Head... so horrific! Nearby sail boats gently rock to small waves on the aforementioned pristine azure waters... you do not want to see this! There is no comfortable place to sit and eat. There are only maybe a dozen clean tables from which to choose: some in the shade, some in the sun, and some are under a pavilion to use in the unlikely event it rains during your picnic... Don't take the chance! Today during lunch (well, for the first few minutes) I had to share the peninsula with one other picnicker. Sure he was like 40 yards away, but you shouldn't have to put up with this! And the wind! Today it was so blustery that it threatened to blow my napkin off the table... not once, but TWICE!Oh and it is so noisy... did I mention the sail boats and the waves? Well, they're not silent, ya know! They make this monotonous "lap-lap-lap" sound that might drive you crazy! And you'd be dining only a couple miles from the airport. So as you watch the lumbering jets lift off gracefully into the sky, you can actually hear them. .. It's horrendous! It so far out of the way! It takes minutes and minutes (maybe as many as five) to drive out there from the base proper.... Don't waste your valuable time!So in short, take my advice: Do not put up with ugliness, then uncomfortable conditions, the noisiness, and the long long ride out to Foster Point Peninsula for a picnic lunch! It's just not worth it. But if you do, you'll likely see me there enjoying my picnic lunch; and if you do, feel free to wave. But try to keep your 40 yards separation!;-)

I assisted a young cousin from the mainland now stationed at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base plan his elopement with less than 24 hours notice. He doesn't know much about the island except he wanted the ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Field. I immediately though of the beautiful beaches and locations at Hickam. He and his fiancée immediately selected Foster's Point for the beauty and indescribable aquamarine color of the ocean. We had a quick ceremony under a tree at the point. The photographs were lovely, it's a very special place that will provide them with memories for many years to come.

Visited the Foster Point Peninsula while having lunch at the Sam Choys restaurant. Looking out toward the beach, the view was right out of a postcard. Sunny, clear skies, beach with a view of Diamond Head in the background. Needless to say, sights like this really make me miss Hawaii when I'm going through sub-freezing weather on the mainland!

This place is wonderful!! Been stationed at Hickam AFB in the past and returned for my second tour at (now) Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. And I knew a long time ago this will be the place I hold my retirement ceremony at. Yesterday, I had my retirement from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service and this was the perfect spot (I will miss it). The back drop of the clear blue/green water, Diamond Head in the distance and on the other end you'll have a nice sunset. The area can be rental for the entire day and you will definitely enjoy it. If you have an opportunity to hold your special occasion here....DO IT !!!!

Did ya know you can book this place for a wedding? Neither did I! If your looking for a place to have a company event, weddig or a bbq this is a pretty good place. You have to reserve it first (I dont know where you can do this or how much it is.) but that can't be too hard to do. This place has a pavillion so you are not out in the sun. It also has about 12 clean picnic tables. It also has a kitchen and bathroom facilities. So it has everything you need!!!!Not only do you have great facilities you have beautiful scenery around you. Gentle waters lapping around you that is crystal blue. Sail boats waving in the breeze. Its a gorgeous place to have an event!

Every sunday morning I do a long run and this sunday I wanted a different route. Hickam beach is on my cycling route but it's late in the evening. I've never seen this part of Hickam during the day. So fast forward 5 miles and I'm passing foster point and I see the "Tree". OMG, what a beautiful view. I stopped my run and sat on that bench for about 30 mins taking in the view. I think I've found my spot for tranquility and relaxation.

This is my absolute favorite place on base...and probably along these central-south shores. The water is very very clean and you can see so far out into the ocean, and into the ocean... why? Well its called Foster's point, named after a marine who worked hard to build the man made peninsula. I used to come here a lot when I felt alone and had my guitar with me. You have to reserve the gazebo, but I'm pretty sure the tables are fair game just as they are by the beach. I'm going to miss this place very much when I lose all my dependent privileges at the end of this year. sharing it with my close friends, I wonder if they know how much this place means to me.

Beautiful location, but if you actually rent it for an event, be aware of a few things: - You are supposed to have it from 9am-11pm but they don't come by to clean it until 9am. They had an event the day before and the people trashed the place. They weren't done cleaning it until 11am and I had my wedding at 1pm there. I even asked them repeatedly ahead of time if this was a potential issue and they claimed it wasn't. I'm sure they usually don't have back to back events, but they weren't prepared at all for that, even when alerted to the fact.- because it's so pretty, tons of people come by to hang out there and they totally ignore the signs when an event is going on there. Some people are even belligerent about having the right to stay, despite the signs that say "reservation only beyond this point". - they might not have soap, toilet paper or paper towels stocked. Overall a great place to hang out, but not the greatest if you have an actual event there.
