Fighting Eel

This is hands down my favorite boutique in all of Honolulu and my favorite location by far. Fighting Eel has the most beautiful prints and designs and their price point definitely aligns with the quality of their clothing. The customer service that Lauren and her team provide is phenomenal. From assisting with exchanges or small fixes to jewelry or clothing, they've always gone above and beyond to be hospitable and provide excellent communication and solutions. I can't recommend their products and this location enough. Lauren is the absolute best and her customer service is a huge reason why I love shopping here!

Tried to exchange something I received as a gift because the item was janky and the zipper was terrible. Was told that the person who bought it for me bought it too far in advance and was outside the exchange policy when I only received it 2 days prior... staff was not willing to reason with me and was quite condescendingly rude. All I wanted to do was exchange for a different bag

5/16/23 Just left the store and I agree with the recent reviews regarding poor customer service. Good customer service means having a friendly smile and making eye contact while speaking with the customer. Not talking with your back facing them. I went into this store as a 1st time customer since I admired their clothing that I saw on IG. Yes, the entrance door is kept locked so you'll need to be let in, assuming someone notices you standing at the door.I browsed around and tried on a few items but it didn't fit me just right so I told the worker it didn't work out. The workers in the store did not seem too interested in helping me find something or just being of assistance. They seem off putting and disinterested. The whole experience is enough for me not to return to this business. 2 stars for their clothing and cute totes but I do not recommend. There are other local clothing stores to try.

I used to shop at fighting eel a lot. Like I've spent thousands of dollars at their locations over the years and even bought Ava sky when it was sold at Nordstrom years ago. Over the years, I've kind of migrated to other local designer stores like Manaola and Mahina Made.I would say I go to the Kailua location the most. I rarely find myself downtown, but today I was waiting to pick up a friend and thought I'd check out the larger selection at the downtown location since I had time to kill. I was also looking for some new dresses for an upcoming summer Europe trip. After finding steeet parking (there is no lot), it was awkward to walk up to a locked door. When I saw that it was locked, I then read the sign on the door saying it is locked during business hours and they will open it for you to come in. This seems like a fire violation. I'm pretty sure businesses shouldn't have locked doors during business hours in case of... you know, a fire. Since I was wanting to do some damage... I wanted to like touch the material and go through the racks, and I had just finished an iced tea, I asked very nicely if there was somewhere I could throw away my empty cup. Lol. The sales girl said no. They don't take food trash. Lol. Wtf. I had to ask to be allowed to be let out. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back to this location. I'm a little concerned for my safety and I think it's just poor customer service not to have trash cans haha. Ridiculous.

Just went there last Saturday! I was surprised at their selection, floor set-up of merchandise, easy to look around, friendly sales associates. I was also able to park right on the street in a metered stall which didn't cost much. Will shop there again.

Customer service here is so bad. The workers are judgey and rude. I will never purchase this brand. Based on the way they treat customers, they don't seem to mind.

Once again another successful trip to FE downtown.Kiana suggested wonderful items that were both from previous lines as well as the newer release. I made out like a bandit !! I definitely know now that I was clearly not dressing well without being exposed to fighting eel -I love it!! Thanks to my sister in law JESS for sharing her addiction with me. We are a FE FAMILY! Kiana and the gals @ downtown FE YOU ROCK!! Oxoxoxox

Customer service is definitely not a priority. At nine months pregnant, got the door locked in my face. I thought the worker was rushing to help me open the door, but no, rushed to lock the door. So I stood there and rang the bell because I was there an hour before closing time. Another worker stopped vacuuming to come and see what I needed, a simple exchange for a larger size. She said she couldn't do that because the registers were closed. So, I guess their hours posted are wrong. I'm not sure what the hours are, but manage your expectations when trying to shop at fighting eel on Bethal street.

Very clean nicely set up, eye appealing store. Really friendly & helpful sales staff. Sad and surprised to read all the negative reviews about the Kahala store; sales associates are very good at this location. Beautiful clothes and everything else they sell too; love their bags & all the cute accessories too. I recall reading about their start, when Fighting Eel was born. Now, I only read about one owner; at any rate, I'm all for supporting local.I do not like the return policy however. When You spend an arm and two legs and You change your mind on an item, as long as it's unworn , tags remain & you've got your receipt, you're within 14 days (for Me it's just a day later) you should be able to get a credit back to your payment method, if you so choose. The only option being a store credit, makes me angry and makes me not want to continue to shop here in the future. Also, No Returns on jewelry. There should be black & white exceptions. Like I can't clasp my necklace! They should be more flexible in their return policy.

Over the years I've been a huge follower and purchased just about everything offered at FE. Clothing, blankets, towels, shower curtains, coolers .... you name it. With such a growing brand with high prices, I don't get the whole stamp card, no stamp card.. you can't merge online with in store purchased points - why is this so restricted and complicated?Then when you do get a discount that you work so hard for, it won't even cover 1/2 the tax!Here's the math Spend $500 , get a full cardTax on $500 in Hawaii is 4.5% = $22.50Your full card will get you $10. Wow. It's called a "Loyalty Card", but why would I carry it around for nearly no reward?I have recently stopped shopping at FE. I hate to say I'm motivated by a fair perk, which clearly this isn't. Shop local yes, but let's support the local buyers too!
