Enjoyed our meal. We had the sardines (sardine skillet), bolinhos de baccalaureate (cod & potato croquettes), alcatra (pot roast), red & green shrimp pasta, baccalaureate a brass (cod & potato gratin), and pasteis de kata (custard tarts). All were delicious, but my favorite was both the cod appetizer and entree, and the Portuguese egg tart dessert. Love the cute decor. There's only 3 restaurant parking up front, but there is a parking lot right in the back, and many street parking around. One nice touch is they give you a "menu guide" that tells you what some of these Portuguese dishes mean. It was very helpful to figure out what you want to order. Definitely would come back and try more dishes!

Family date night so ventured through the mountain to try this new place. Cute place. Workers suuuuuper nice without being ingratiating. Only 1 restroom...didn't have to wait, but I did use it 3 times so if ever there is a time when only people with small bladders eat there, there will likely be a line.Ordered bread basket as soon as we got there so the baby would have something to eat...she was getting hangry. Buggah ate like 2 whole breads! I def ate too much also. One of the breads super crispy top, and airy inside...that was my fave but was super oily. Cocktails sounded pretty good, but I don't like sweet, so after discussion with the waitress, decided on a bloody mary. Good but nothing special. I'm sure there would have been ways to make some of the drinks less sweet, but didn't want to mess with the recipes since most were Gin based and I don't know Gin enough. Had a glass of wine after that was nice.Fish Tin is literally fish in a tin. Think they just crack um open, sprinkle green onions and then serve it with tsukemono and breads. Normally like sardines, but I guess we typically dress it up when we eat it...Hawaii style kine. Salt and Vinegar Onion Rings were good as far as onion rings go. Definitely no Salt and Vinegar on there. I thought it was just me, but hubs confirmed it. Baby liked it, but wouldn't have gotten it other than for the S&V.Hubs got the pot roast. That was super tasty. But except for the flaked off parts, it was dry. He ended with a hunk of meat that I thought was bone when I tried to cut into it.I got the Vinha D'Alhos. This is something the hubs makes from a recipe from his podagee friend, so I was looking forward to it. It was soft and was tasty on the outside, but lacked something once that part was gone. It wasn't in the sauce long enough? Maybe could have used a touch of salt? Definite potential.Overall, an okay meal. Maybe still working through the kinks in the kitchen? I know they mentioned being short staffed FOH.

A happening place in Kailua! Great food, great service and casual atmosphere. Packed on a Thursday night. A Portuguese restaurant with adapted Hawaiian flair. The food was delicious and interesting. My favorites were the chicken wings, polenta fritters, bean and garlic soups, branzino, shrimp turnovers, pot roast and nata. The puri puri chicken and bacahlau were a little underwhelming but still good. When we got to dessert we were very full but did try their nata...delicious!A wonderful addition to the food scene and plenty of street and municipal parking lot. There's a very small 3 car parking in front as well.

Dine with four to six people at your table so you can try more dishes. Great vibe, personalized rustic decor and friendly staff/owners. Drinks included the dragonfruit cocktail, martini, and a glass of vinho verde.Appetizers included two kinds of tinned sardines served with bread, seaweed and pickled onions. The sardines were fine, but it was the relishes that showed the chef's talents. Other starters included a bread basket and the cod croquettes. Our party consisted of two couples, so we ordered three entrees. The branzino, pot roast, and vinegar pork. They accidentally doubled an entree (didn't charge us), so there were leftovers to bring back home. We took a chance on the bay leaf ice cream and it was delicious. The chocolate cake with cherries and mousse did not disappoint. We will definitely return.

I could not get a reservation for 6PM on a Friday night ten days out, and I realized why as soon as I walked in. The spacious dining area, once Champa Thai (I'm still recovering from the abomination), transformed into a warm and inviting space with a robust bar. I stood around for ten minutes and waited for the hostess. There were too many empty tables to justify the unavailability of a 6PM reservation, but the shortage of waitstaff told the ailment so common to Kailua eateries. There just aren't enough workers in this Whole Foods/Subaru Kayak/Yoga/aging community. Our server did great though, and I appreciate every bite of the delicious food. The flaming sausage was a sight to watch--it was literally on fire. The sardines were good, but don't expect the same juicy, oily freshness from port cities like Lisbon or Faro. The appetizer board was so so...I wouldn't spend 26 dollars on that again. The wine choices were solid, Cava and mandatory green wine were perfect for the appetizers. The cherry on the top? Their grilled lemon...wow. Just blew me away. I would come back just for that citrous wonder.

Exceptional experience eating with a large group of friends at a GREAT new place in Kailua. I think we ate almost everything on the menu & all of it was wonderful. Don't come in a rush - come to really enjoy the food and good energy in this cozy restaurant with amazing service. The flavors are built with care & you can tell that they work very hard to make this a go-to place to bring family and friends. Our party of 8 was all smiles & we didn't want the night to end!

extremely delicious food! We had salt cod fritters, pork with cabbage, house salad and ribeye. Everything had big intense flavors but nothing was heavy. Perfectly seasoned food, we debated on what the best dish was all night. The bread alongside the pork was fluffy and soft! wonderful atmosphere and super nice team. We are fortunate this is now in Kailua, and look forward to trying more things soon!

The food was unique for my palate and every bite was a wonderful surprise of flavor, each complimenting the next. The restaurant is feels restful and welcoming, like coming home to your sit with you favorite family member. The decor is tasteful, well-appointed, and a building block of the overall charming experience. Kailua is lucky to have a place like this to gather and feast.
