Family Vision Care

This review is for the receptionists up front, not for the doctor himself. The doctor is awesome with my kids! HOWEVER, receptionists are nice up front BUT they never ever answer their phone lines. I have called multiple times throughout the day for a couple of days in a row but no answer and always rings and goes to voicemail. So out of my multiple times calling I decided to leave a voicemail message. So I did. Mind you I had called on a Tuesday, then the next day Wednesday (this is the day I left a voicemail). Again, no one has called me. Then on Friday, lord and behold, someone finally called me back and I had to take time to step away during work to answer to an office that never answers their phone. Apparently, this office is CLOSED ON THURSDAYS. Which is fine, I understand BUT the fact that one of the girls who answered when I had told her I been calling multiple times days prior to their office being closed on Thursdays, she had made an excuse making it like I called on a Thursday. I had told her NO I BEEN TRYING TO CALL DAYS BEFORE AND NO ANSWERED THROUGHOUT THE DAYS that I have been calling. Not sure what's going on in that office but for the appointments that me and my kids are there, their office is Dead with like one patient being seen before us. To the doctor, please train your staff to answer phones. Not sure if help is needed up front to answer phones or if it's just on silent to be purposely not answer but double check your staff who is manning the front office in answering phone calls.

1st time at Family Vision Care and the name speaks for itself really... I brought my kids to my appt (don't recommend btw), but the front desk girls and Dr. Kato were extremely patient with us...even during my actual exam when my 1 y/o was crying and he's still asking me "what's clearer, 1 or 2" lol! Honestly though, very good environment...you can tell these people really enjoy what they do and Dr. Kato's a good man to work for. Definitely will be returning (without the kids next time though, lol).Mahalo Family Vision Care!!

I've been going to Family Vision Eye Care for years. The staff is amazing. Dr. Kato is absolutely something special! Professional, knowledgeable, so friendly and personable. If you're looking for eye care, this is your place. 100% recommend!

I've been coming here for years and recommend this place to anyone that asks. I've always felt comfortable coming here because Dr. Kato (and his wife) are very personable, funny, and explain things to me that make it simple to understand. I brought my 3-yo in for her first checkup and Dr. Kato reassured me that she's the perfect age to set a baseline. The girls in the front are always so friendly and patient and knew how to talk to my daughter to make her feel comfortable as well. Dr. Kato had her (us) cracking up most of the time and was even able to determine predicted near-sightedness in the future and ways to prevent it. After we left, my daughter told me that she had so much fun at the eye doctor and wants to go back. As much as I love them, I'm hoping her eyes don't go bad enough that we need to go more than once a year!

I have been seeing Dr Kato for almost 10 years now. One day I just searched the nearest eye Dr, and since we lived in Makakilo then, it was perfect. Located in the Halekuai Center, above The Barbershop. Parking can be annoying there now that there are a lot more businesses than there is parking stalls... On my recent visit I received a confirmation text along with a reminder of the parking situation. They have a couple of private parking stalls that they allow clients to use, huge plus! I see Dr Kato annually and he is great at what he does. I have never had to wait very long... I feel like that's the Dr's (in general) thing, making you wait. There's never any awkwardness that you sometimes feel in Dr's offices. He's very professional, yet personable. I always learn something new at every visit with Dr Kato. Anytime that I've had concerns with my eyes, contacts, or glasses he's always found a solution!The staff are all very helpful and pleasant. When my kids were younger and had to come along, they would always start up a movie for them and offer a cushion to sit on. Every visit I'm on the hunt for something different. Doesn't matter if it's my new pair of glasses, or contacts they will work with you until you're satisfied. For the time I've been coming here I have changed insurance at least 3 or 4 times and I never have any problems. They are diligent when it comes to any insurance claims, coverage/info. Even though now I live outside of the Kapolei area I still gladly travel just to continue seeing Dr Kato. When the time comes for my children to see an eye Dr, Dr Kato will surely have our business, as long as he's in business.

I have nothing but positive things to say. Since I've started wearing contacts I've had trouble with fit and comfortability. For years I genuinely thought contacts were supposed to be a little uncomfortable because it's something in your eye obviously. I needed a refill and my routine exam and Dr. Kato not only helped find the right brand but also educated me on expectations and what to look for that I've never thought of. After a few years, I finally found a brand that I'm happy with. The staff is really nice, helpful, and knowledgeable too. I'm really happy to have found this spot. Thank you!

Just made my first with Dr. Kato and I must say I'm very happy with my visit. Staff was friendly and helpful. They checked my temperature and office was clean and well sanitized. Dr. Kato was such a caring and helpful doctor. He was thorough with my exam which was much appreciated. He was approachable in answering questions on advice to my hobbies that I do because I crochet and knit a lot, giving wonderful advice as to how to help my eyes maintain their health. Very pleased with my visit, this business will be my go to eye doctor now since my old doctor retired. Go check it out you won't regret it. 2 thumbs up for me!

Excellent Dr. and staff! The front desk/Bridgette is very friendly, warm and welcoming, knowledgeable, and has great customer service! Dr. Kato is amazing! Very knowledgeable, patient, listens, friendly, funny, and explains every very well and detailed! Extremely satisfied with service here. Office is very clean, organized, and nice. Easy to find and there is also a lot of parking.
