As the "other" look funn factory in Honolulu, Family is my first choice for fresh plain look funn noodles, and look funn rolls. It is a small shop located a little ewa of kekaulike market on N. Hotel Street (almost to River Street) on the makai side of the road. I am unsure of their hours but most days they are closed and have sold out by 12:00 p.m. I think many of their orders are for restaurants which buy their noodles to make their dishes. They offer plain look funn (I believe $1/lbs which is a lot) as well as rolls of look funn with specks of char siu or shrimp (70 cents a roll). Can't go wrong with these prices. I have tried Ying Leong Look Funn Factory, located in Kekaulike Market, and honestly I can't tell the difference between the two. All I know is they are fresh, have that springy chewiness while being soft. This is unlike the refrigerated type you buy at the supermarket. I believe Ying Leong is pricier. So for the non-negligible difference in taste, the "Chinese" in mean always goes to Family if I can.I usually buy a lbs of plain look funn which I eat fresh with some char siu or roast pork I buy at Nam Fong and some fresh choy sum from Chinatown. Super awesome meal and usually comes in waaaay under $10.The employees do not speak much English so you have to point to what you want sometimes. It is hot and steamy inside (it's a factory, imagine having to work there at 2:00 a.m.!!!) and CASH only. If you are in the mood for fresh look funn for your stir-fry, chow funn, or plain with sweet shoyu, this is the PLACE!!!
