Take a breath...Take in the view that's right here in UH...this tiny garden tucked right behind East-West Center where it must be such a calming vibe to overhear the Manoa Stream flow which is what you can hear as soon as you approach the walkway there you see a sign to bring awareness of their rules. The Garden is open daily from 7am to 6pm though do recommend coming on Sunday to find parking and of course being less crowded though be mindful that it's not a place to have your party or picnic and pets aren't allowed as well. There is a koi pond as well which sadly is quite green and not the pleasant sight to see but did appreciate the area that's open to the public to stroll but there are mosquitoes...and I got bitten quite often so be careful.I did enjoy the garden regardless though parking is the most difficult but see many folks do come on campus to stroll and see why they do so as it's just stunning and a nice view without going far...pics are some items given to me that I just had to share and I'm so grateful for wonderful friends that have been so kind to me...reflections!Thank you!

Attending the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, I had a number of friends who were much better than I at plant identification and botany. The East-West Center Japanese Garden was one of the places they would like to go and look at the different plants. They told me where it was located and described it as picturesque.Later on, I took a wrong turn when out walking one time - I was not paying full attention - and found myself in the Japanese Garden. Momentarily, I was like, have I been here before. No. They just had done a really great job of describing the place. It was a nice place to visit and clear my mind, the trails were not too long and the location was close enough to central campus it was not a time consuming detour.

What a fun little garden in the middle of UH Manoa campus! Its located behind the east west center. Parking is free on holidays and on Sundays (which are the easiest days to go tbh and it's also less busy on campus). I've taken my engagement photos here in the past on campus and i now bring my dogs here every so often for a photoshoot. The only caution about this location is the dirty pond water with algae and koi fish. Just be cautious that your pets dont drink out of them because they might get sick. Theres a lot of fun spots to take photos or just hang out and lots of space to spread out within the garden. The shaded areas are near the steps or behind the trees next to the building.

A very pretty place to visit and ideally recommend to go on Sundays to visit due to free parking, it's super busy otherwise. I'd also recommend if you visit during times when it is/has been raining to maybe bring sturdy shoes for mud/wet grassland terrain, but otherwise on sunny days or staying near the ledge of the auditorium building overlooking the garden is the ideal spot for staying safe from sun/rain conditions. I'd often see families or students relaxing/sunbathing in the gardens enjoying themselves. Since it's on a college campus, anytime I've visited during the week, it's extremely busy and hard to find parking (and you have to pay), so do take caution when visiting on any other days that aren't sundays or holidays.

Highly recommend. This is an outdoor garden you can walk through. Miss coming a few times because I thought it was "closed". We went on a weekend and they were not many students around at all and lots of parking. I definitely want to come back here more often and do the tour. Meticulous garden, fish pond, streams and beautiful green lawn. I was surprised they were not more people in the park given how beautiful it is. It was nice and quiet and very relaxing.
