Update:Came back during another visit and still have 5 stars. Here's why:Service from John and Frank was outstanding. John was super informative but not pushy. Friends without feeling phony and shares his opinion, both good and not so good. We loved our meals: macadamia crusted mahi and prime rib. Minor drawbacks:We got there at 5:00 and the place was absolutely packed. That's fine but there was a lot of beach people traffic who were pulling wagons, were wet and sandy, walking thru the restaurant. If you order prime rib "texas style" be sure to request medium rare to avoid over-cooked. We'll be back.

I came here for breakfast and didn't realize it was a buffet! Personally I'm not a big buffet person but I wanted to try everything they had available. The food was decent but nothing special. I think the best part was the fried rice. But the staff was really nice and the view was amazing! I think that people go for the vibes, but the breakfast options were not for me.I would like to go back to try the other foods when it's not a buffet!

Duke's does everything right. I've visited other Duke's locations, such as the one in Maui, in Del Mar, California, and in Huntington Beach, CA, and the food is always delicious. They have a ton of people working at this location, and so the service is fantastic. The bar area inside and outdoors is always a fun time, with lots of friendly people to talk to. I had the mahi mahi and their signature mai tai, and it was fantastic. If there was a (small) negative, it's hard to find this location if you don't enter from the beach -- you'll have to go through the Outrigger Waikiki shops to get to this restaurant through a tunnel of sorts. Highly recommended for a visit, even if it seems touristy!

My friend and I went for lunch. I chose their lunch buffet and it was great. It had a few different poke choices, some hot food choices as well as a great salad bar.The view was nice and the restaurant clean. I would definitely recommend reservations and don't forget to stop at the gift shop, since you do receive a discount after dining at the restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

This is based on Lunch Buffet.A good place to try the Ono Hawaiian cruising if you are staying in Waikiki and don't have a car to venture out. The selection was not extensive, but what they did have was good. I would recommend getting the Kalbi, Poké, and the Shrimp. The service was great! We had a reservation and were seated right away. Other people had to wait 15 minutes when we got there.I loved that you could see the beach and feel the soft breeze from our seats. We paid about $88 for 2 adults and one child. While I wish they had more selection and we probably won't get the lunch buffet again, we would come back to try the other food on the menu and get another slice of Hula Pie!

Located at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach resort, Duke's is named after the famous Hawaiian surfer from the 1900s. This is a massive restaurant with beach views and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. While staying at the Outrigger hotel I received daily passes for the breakfast or lunch buffet. Normally the breakfast buffet is $29 and includes made to order omelets, pancakes, French toast, oatmeal, some fruits, breakfast meats (pork) and coffee/tea. While the omelets were good I didn't care for the other items and I don't eat pork, so I went to the breakfast buffet only once and stuck to the lunch buffet the other times.Lunch buffet (Normally $33) - Highlights of the lunch buffet here included made to order poke bowls (with fresh tuna, salmon, octopus, etc.), teriyaki chicken, north shore garlic shrimp, kalbi short ribs, Okinawa potatoes, kimchi salad, fresh pineapple and more. The quality of all the mains here were exceptional for a buffet making this place a must visit, especially when considering the high prices of other restaurants in the area.Overall, I really enjoyed the lunch buffet here and would come here again, even if I didn't have the complimentary passes from the hotel. They have a sister restaurant, Hula Grill located on the floor above them that has some great offerings as well.

Duke's Waikiki is definitely a busy tourist restaurant and on the pricey side because of that, but I think worth it overall for the food. Highly recommend making reservations well in advance so that you avoid the long waitlists. We had a dinner reservation and enjoyed the following:- Poke tacos - nice appetizer to share for 2 people, the wonton tacos offer a nice crunch and go well with the ahi; the shoyu doesn't overpower the flavor of the tuna- Macadamia nut and herb crusted fresh fish - mahi mahi was the fish of the day which went really well with the seasoning and lemon butter sauce and was cooked perfectly (not dry at all); the jasmine farro rice was okay - Furikake ahi steak - seared just the right amount and with a delicious coconut jasmine rice (wish that came as the side for the macadamia nut crusted fish!) - Hula pie - the famous pie that they're known for; definitely good to try once but not sure I would get it again because it's so big and kind of overwhelming with sweetness- Coconut mojito - tasty blended mojito if you're a fan of coconut and a lighter drink Overall, a good meal and worth coming back despite the crowds!

The Cajun fish tacos were so amazing! Every component compliments each other perfectly. The coconut shrimp was tasty but needed more coconut flavor. Service is friendly but prepared that this place gets busy and loud. It's also a bit pricey. Live music nightly was a nice touch.

The Dukes Barefoot Bar is a wonderful Waikiki outdoor beach venue! Server Riley is the best...so attentive, professional and thoughtful. Be sure to ask for her! Also, their calamari (Pupus--appetizer) are the best I ever had anywhere I've traveled.
