Some nostalgia still remains here...Duke's Lane has always been home to the visitors trinket dream of what was know to purchase matching honeymooners outfit or cheesy shirts and fabric flowers for the hair can still be found here and among many other items without driving the distance to Aloha Swap Meet. It's quite mind boggling the amount of carts that are found here many that are unique but some that are similar and are told to shop around which you absolutely should though I'd forget which one I originally would go back to, it was quite hot so I decided to stop at a shave ice stall which was a nice and refreshing.Come out here and explore it's quite the adventure to find that treasure you never you needed!Thank you!

So. If you want to out-tourist all the other tourists, go here. Duke's Lane is an alleyway full of stalls selling tchotchkes, generally run by street hardened, tough-as-sh*t vendors, who sell items identical to all other vendors in the area. Rather than competing with one another in price, they seem to have a pact to charge the same or similar prices for all of the same items. Maybe that's not a bad thing, but it will not result in a good rate for tourists if that is what you are looking for. All fine by me. I'm happy to pay fair prices if it keeps small, deserving, local businesses alive. But there are also some really unfriendly, unkind, and unethical vendors here who will kill your vacation chill in a second. One accused my eight year old and her friend of stealing after they delightedly looked at some rings. (They didn't.) The kids were pretty freaked out by this experience. Most vendors were also extremely and uncomfortably pushy so one could not just enjoy a browse. This complex might be fun to do a quick walk through, but the bad feelings far outweighed the good for us. I do enjoy a good street market just about anywhere in the world. This is not one I would recommend.

A little bit of International Market still exists from a tourist perspective. This market stocks lots of Hawaiian trinkets and souvenirs. Also if you are going to a Lual a great place to pick out your outfit too (matching for the whole family too) it even has a stall that sells clothes for your dogs too.

This is the narrow section of "shops" alongside the International Market Place. This is where everything really starts looking the same- dresses, t-shirts, jewelry, trinkets, souvenirs, etc. (much like in the IMP- but we've learned that the swap meet has the best pricing on lots of things, especially t-shirts). Only one product stood out for me- hawaiian license plates (used ones). It's a little awkward when the space is so narrow, and there are more people than you, also shopping; you bump into them, or say "excuse me." The vendors will really try to get your business, as you are walking, which I refer to as the "swapmeet hustle." We didn't buy anything here. My husband wanted to see everything, though I told him we had been here before. But this time, we actually walked the entire row.

I absolutely find the best souvenirs here if I bring someone to Honolulu for just a day or 2 (when I am unwilling to take the time to go out to the swap meet.) This small area is full of treasures--Aloha clothing, beautiful hair ornaments, Jewelry, exotic handmade items from Asia, etc. And the shop owners are much more willing to bargain here than they are at the International Shops--I usually find dresses and other items at 10-15% less than the exact same item is marked in the International shops! Enjoy!
