Duke's Lagoon

I've always wanted to have my own surf shop. If I did, Duke's Lagoon would be the model for my business. Chris and Misa are outstanding proprietors of this business. I've rented boards from them. I've had some good chats with them. Chris is around my age. I won't say what age but he's as stoked about surfing as we probably both were in our 20s.If you've never surfed in this area, he will give you all the tips you need to have a fun surf. We will be back.

Have a very good selection of surfboards. fire wiretorquewaldenTakayamaNSPStewartThis time my husband took a lesson cannot beat the value that you get and care that you get for this lesson $120 hour and a half lesson and they take pictures. No extra cost.And if you rent a board from them the next day and they're doing a lessons he will snap pictures of you and send them to you. Yeah, no extra charge. They just like spreading the aloha spirit. we planned this trip and our location where we would stay based on Dukes Lagoon best choice .Chris and Misa are very knowledgeable about all the breaks.We are experienced surfers but first time in Waikiki. Chris explain the brakes, where it was safe to enter, where to watch out for coral reef. If you take lessons with them they automatically take pictures. we happen to be paddling out Chris also has recommendations for places to eat where the locals go you need to rent something full of knowledge and willing to share Also, Misa make jewelry and I bought some very cute earrings!

Consider this spot if you want to get in the water, but don't like or need a break from the ocean. We visited when we were in a nearby hotel and needed a more relaxed location to visit with our two little ones. We rented some paddle boards which was a ton of fun! Still a great view of the ocean.

Chris and Misa at Duke's Lagoon are awesome and they are definitely the go to people for your surf lessons and rentals in Waikiki. I've been embarrassed to admit that I sucked at surfing and despite trying many times and taking lessons with other instructors I just couldn't get it. But then I went out surfing with Chris, he was unbelievably patient and skillful at showing me how to really surf. He's very passionate about what he does and is encouraging and makes learning to surf really fun! I highly recommend taking surf lessons with Chris and Misa at Duke's Lagoon!

I absolutely recommend this establishment for all beach and surf rentals!Chris, the owner is an amazing business owner. We rented 2 beach chairs, umbrella and snorkel gear. We had mentioned we were going to north shore and he was incredibly kind about the return window because we might be out past the return time of 5pm. He said we could return the following morning. I highly recommend this rental service. Don't bother going anywhere else.

Best place to rent a surfboard, phenomenal selection with the friendliest owners. It was so convenient being able to grab a surfboard early in the morning when you're staying at the Ilikai. Could not recommend this place more!

Simply 'da best! Located in the lobby shop area of The Ilikai, this has become my fast favorite for all board activities at the Waikiki Beach because of the following: 1. Launch Site - Duke's Lagoon takes full advantage of the calm water produced by the breaker barrier adjacent to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Lagoon area. This, coupled with the connected parking lot (free from 4:30 am until late at night) makes this not only easy for novices but cost-effective as well. 2. Ocean Area - Based on the Launch Site above, a short paddle out between the markers puts you at the legendary "Kaisers" surf spot which is great for not only those learning to surf but also for those that are more independent. Additionally, adjacent to this is an underwater canyon that a large number of Sea Turtles call home so a well-timed paddle over this area can result in a lot of really great turtle sightseeing. 3. Service - Chris and Misa (the owners) bring on several qualified and fun people to assist with surf lessons, paddle-board turtle tours, etc. And when I say "assist", I mean they pretty much do everything for you such as transport your board to the launch site, help you get pointed in the right direction, wash your equipment off for you after and take it back to their shop. So while lessons or tours aren't bargain basement cheap, you definitely get what you pay for and it is worth it. I can honestly say that after spending a couple mornings with Chris, Misa and their colleagues, my family had fantastic ocean experiences. Those that took a surf lesson got up plenty of times during their 90 minutes and came back tired with big smiles on their faces. And for sure, the turtle tour was one of the best mornings I have ever spent on the water. Highly recommend these activities and for sure, do them with Duke's Lagoon. You will not be disappointed!

We gave our kids a Christmas present they will remember forever - a surfing lesson with Darren, Serge and Thomas on the Kaiser Break on Oahu. It is such a stunning spot with the sun rising behind Diamondhead Peak and these incredible and fun instructors immediately set the kids out on the right waves. Once you ride one, you don't want to stop! My true review of Duke's Lagoon is 6 stars! Thank you to Chris for organizing it all.

Dukes Lagoon (inside the Ilikai) was awesome. Chris helped my teens (who didn't need lessons) with their rentals and advising exactly where they should surf (even using an ipad with live cam to show them) and they hung out in that exact spot and caught waves all week. Super chill and knowledgeable- highly recommend!

Our first surfing experience in Hawaii was incredible. My two teenage boys and I had such a positive experience with the surfing lessons. Chris, our instructor, was exceptionally patient and kind, as was his wife. The instructors were excellent at teaching us techniques, and we all managed to catch a wave. My sons enjoyed it so much that one of them now considers surfing his favorite water sport. It was such a memorable experience, and I highly recommend it!
