Downing Hawaii

I would give 10 stars if I could. My son is fairly new to surfing and was looking to buy another board. Keone was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Customer service was exemplary! I'm from California and was so impressed by the genuine kindness offered to my son and me. I highly recommend Downing Hawaii.

They're so friendly, helpful, and service-oriented. They even pick up the phone and sound HAPPY to hear from you! So rare to find nowadays. Best thing is that they know their surf stuff and they are local family-owned. Shop local!! Support small business owners! They are not just cogs in a wheel. Don't shop on Amazon when there's places like this for all your surf needs.The store has have everything you need and more.

I was interested in purchasing a surfboard and I waited patiently for 25 minutes. Then a couple walks in and instead of helping me the couple gets help on boards. As I wait there I still get no help at all? I guess they don't need the business?! I'll go elsewhere where someone will actually help me with a board instead of being ignored!?

Downing Hawaii is run by a local family of two brothers and a sister (Kaiulu). The store has some pretty good selection of surf boards, men and womens jewelry, surf and walking shorts, tshirts, swimsuits, wetsuits, sunglasses - and just about anything that you'll need to have fun in the sun!I scored during my visit, because the store was having a 40% off sale. The items are nicely displayed, customer service is wonderful (helpful, but not pushy), prices are amazing! I love Downing Hawaii! Reminds me of good old fashioned Hawaii surf store back in the day! Good customer service, good vibe, good selection on everything surf related.

Went in for a Xcel rash guard and we ended up buying a lot more cute cool local surf shop.

Love this place!! Prices are cheaper than other places that carry the same products. It's a little cramped and the parking super sucks, but the store is well worth the trip. I would definitely be going back (on a Saturday when there's parking and no traffic) and shop again and St. Louis Drive In is close by.....yumm

Shop is alright but nothing that other surf shops like HIC and T&C don't have. Prices are around the same as other places. Hardly any parking spots unless you want to park on the street. Friendly staff.

Awesome family owned surf shop. Conveniently located in town, Downing is the perfect for a quick stop before going to the beach. They have a good selection of boards, supplies and apparel, for great prices. Customer service is unparalleled, every time we shop here, they are friendly and helpful, quick to answer your questions or just talk story. Excellent customer service! I called looking for an Odysea board and they had a shipment coming in. The store promptly called me when it arrived and reserved it for me. They even delivered it to my apartment. Top notch and super friendly service with great mana! Thank you!
