DoubleTree by Hilton Alana - Waikiki Beach

My wife surprised me with a honeymoon trip to Hawaii and specifically requested a king bed with city views. Instead, we were given twin beds--definitely not the romantic setup we envisioned--and a view of the parking lot and the backs of buildings. We can't even see a street with people on it.To make matters worse, the toilet sprays water all over my legs when flushed but somehow still leaves behind waste. On top of that, I couldn't add my Hilton Honors account to the reservation. When we asked about switching rooms, the front desk told us they were fully booked and couldn't accommodate us.Overall, this experience has been a huge disappointment. What was supposed to be a special honeymoon has been completely ruined.

I like the location but the maids are not so good. I purposely left certain things to see if they "clean" andthey do not. The day I checked in I found an almost empty 40oz bottle of Modelo beer under my bed. And I don't understand why they keep changing my towels and redoing them if I didn't put my towels on the floor, seems wasteful. And a few times they forgot to refill the backup towel paper. I do enjoy the location of the hotel cause it's not so noisy outside. And the staff was very nice and helpful. Other than the cleanliness I recommend this hotel.

I enjoyed the price and location of this hotel. We were in the center of everything. Walking distance to most beaches and restaurants. Who doesn't like fresh warm chocolate chip cookies free for the asking. The gym was well equipped and the patio was nice to sit on after working out. Sadly the pool was too cold to use the beach was 10 minute walk. Clean rooms and smaller bathrooms. I would recommend this hotel for business travel.

Wow what an experience, From check in to check out the staff was amazing, the cookies the cookies are delicious , the conversation and even booking all of our excursions we did swimming with the turtles, swimming with the sharks and even parasailing what a time we had and each time we returned we were greeted with smiles and welcome back how was your day /activity The valet staff is definitely on their A game and we had VIP parking due to our oversized van

I enjoyed staying at this hotel during the summer! It is conveniently located across the street from the international market and so close to the beach as well. All you have to do is walk through the international market and bam! you are at the beach! I enjoyed walking and strolling down the area and shopping at all the markets.The pool can use an update, and a change of vibe; it not as inviting as maybe the other more expensive hotel pools.Parking is expensive and not included and can range from $50.00 or more at every resort here in the nearby area.The best part: THE COOKIE!!! This cookie reminds me of the one they sell at Lazy Acres and the even better part is you can ask for 1 everyday of your stay.Another pro of this hotel is that we had no issues with our room it was clean, spacious, and we opted for a balcony which offered an okay view (some beach and some of the marketplace).

With a great location and within walking distance of the ocean, this hotel is a really good option to vacation in Hawaii (Waikiki), the staff is very friendly always smiling, and ready to help with any need that you may have. With two nearby malls and several 7/11 convenience stores, makes it easy to shop for food, or any snacks, if you want to venture out there is a food truck area just a few feet east of the hotel.Keep this place in mind on your next trip to Honolulu.

Convenient location and a big hotel chain. If this Double Tree isn't to your liking, then there are plenty of nice hotels nearby in Waikiki. Rooms are large. We managed to snag a room a day before we arrived to Hawaii. The AC blasts constantly in the room to keep the humidity down. Doesn't help that the entrance area of the hotel is open air. I got charged an additional $8.99 in taxes the morning I was planning to check out. Might be a Hawaii thing to not just charge all taxes upfront when you book a hotel. Watch out when booking hotels in Hawaii. The front desk staff held our luggage free of charge, which is a great perk. Plus I got two cookies from the front desk when checking in, which is nice.

Hotel Itself: CLEAN!! Phenomenal experience -- would (and will) come back again. Front desk staff gave us some top-notch food/restaurant suggestions and even offered us some cool perks for our honeymoon trip. Tons of Balcony rooms w/ great viewsHousekeeping: After every cleaning, it's like walking into the room for the very first time. Friendly and polite -- and super easy to get extra towels for when you need to get the saltwater off. Location: close to everything -- walking distance or a very short drive to all the top attractions (shopping, restaurants, etc.) less than 5-minute walk to the beach. Valet: Scott's the best. The entire staff made sure we felt welcome during our entire stay. On top of the minor details -- like offering to give us towels to put down on the seats after a full day at the beach (because who wants wet dinner clothes). Definitely a top-notch crew.
