DJ Troy Michael - Hawaii

Don't hesitate to book Troy! Booking a DJ is so hard to do when booking a destination wedding, but Troy was amazing to work with, and took all of the anxiety away from the entertainment portion of wedding planning. It's been 7 years (this review is long overdue) but I still have friends telling me that we had the best DJ. Troy spent a lot of time making sure he understood the vibe we were going for and I pretty much only had to provide my "must have" songs to seed the playlist, and the special songs for first dance, entrances, etc. Troy kept the program flowing and it didn't feel rushed and it didn't drag on like so many receptions I've attended. The dance floor was ALWAYS full and even my grandparents got on the dance floor. The reception was so much fun, and I was able to just enjoy the moment, and dance all night. Thank you Troy!!!

DJ Troy was an awesome DJ for our destination wedding in Koolina!! He had all of our guests on the dance floor until our wedding ended at 11PM. We filled out a preference sheet for must-haves and do not plays and for everything else in between-- he mixed in a bunch of great music. He knew exactly how to get everybody on the dance floor even with our guests ranging from little kids to our grandma. He also has a great set up which includes your photo on his DJ booth. It was a really nice touch that gave the booth/dance floor/lights a very classy look. He was also very easy to work with and had great recommendations on our timeline, money dance, and music preferences. Thank you for making our wedding such a fun & memorable night!!!

DU Troy was amazing !!! He listened to our requests and special songs . He got my Asian friends up and dancing along with our family from the mainland . My kids had an amazing time ! Even my 86 year old mother danced ! He made everyone feel comfortable . I would recommend him to anyone planning a night of dancing .

Dj Troy really killed it with our wedding music and vibe. We got so many people raving how great the music was at our wedding and we literally danced all night. He is a witty DJ and understands how to keep the party going. He doesn't play from a Spotify playlist- he actually DJs and incorporate mixes and covers of the best songs. Truly amazing. When my now-husband and I decided to have a wedding, the main reason was because we wanted to have a dance party with our friends. We knew that hiring a high quality DJ was one of our top priorities. After recently attending a couple weddings with DJs who played what sounded like a Spotify playlist (complete with spaces in between songs... what the heck...) but still charged thousands of dollars, we knew that it was important to find the right person for the job. I reached out to several DJs for quotes and got a corporate or cheesy feel from many of them. Then we had our intro call with DJ Troy. Troy used the call to explain his approach to DJing, his experience and his process, and learn more about us and our guests to make sure it was a good fit. His professionalism, attention to detail and true understanding of his craft persuaded us on that call that he was the DJ we had been searching for. We booked him during that initial call. A couple months later, we had our second call with him to go over some music choices (he gave us a google doc to fill out ahead of time). At no point did we give him a playlist or even a very long list of songs or artists we wanted to have played -- we chatted with him about the overall vibe we wanted to create at different points, chose songs for select moments (bride processional, first dances, etc), gave him a short list of certain songs and artists we like, and let him work his magic for the rest! There were so many points during the event when a song would come on and I would think, I love this song! He expertly wove together all different kinds of music throughout the night and it all culminated in the final dance party, which felt like being at a super fun night club with our friends and family. He kept our guests dancing for nearly three hours! I had so many people tell me afterwards he was the best wedding DJ they had ever experienced. A couple of big pluses -- he brought his own sound system, which was super high quality. He put lavalier mics on the officiant and my husband during the ceremony so the guests could hear what was being said. We used his mic and sound system for the speeches during the reception, which was great because our venue has a horrible sound system that renders speeches unintelligible. DJ Troy also served as our emcee, making announcements when needed but not hamming it up or telling irritating jokes. He also brought his own lights, which really enhanced the experience on the dance floor. I think the price he charges is more than reasonable given the high quality of his work and all these extras he provides.If you love music and want a professional DJ who you can trust to do his thing and not have to give a whole playlist to, I highly recommend hiring DJ Troy to work his magic.

Troy was an AMAZING DJ for our destination wedding in Hawaii!!! I was a bit nervous about who to hire for a DJ since me and my husband live in California. However, working with Troy was a breath of fresh air!! Troy was very friendly, warm, and approachable, and you can tell that he clearly knew his stuff!! Not only was planning out the music super easy to do (Troy was very organized and gave us a music document to fill out ahead of time), but he also gave great suggestions on what to do in the Oahu area, especially if you are coming to Hawaii for a destination wedding!We got SO MANY compliments on Troy's DJ'ing throughout the wedding ceremony!! He did a great job of staying on top of the schedule and also playing all the songs we wanted to be played throughout the ceremony and reception. Troy also added in some songs in addition to what we wanted to have played, and was very intuitive in terms of what music to add to the part.His music lit up the dance floor, and seriously... it was a CRAZY wedding lol!! My friends and family were on the dance floor the entire time!!(In addition, his DJ table set-up was awesome and we were able to share our engagement photos on his LCD screen, which was a nice elegant touch!)THANK YOU for your amazing DJ work, Troy!!! DJ Troy was the best decision for our DJ/emcee!! What drew us in was that his DJ booth was different and had our picture on it but he has honestly exceeded all of our expectations. He was so responsive, friendly, easy to talk to, organized, and so thoughtful! I love spreadsheets and word docs to help me stay organized, especially when planning a wedding and he made it so simple! We're from California and planning a destination wedding is no joke. Our venue was in a remote location with no electricity, water or anything and he made sure to recommend a generator company so there would be no issues with electricity. He goes above and beyond for everything he does to ensure the most important day of your life goes smoothly. He is amazing and I can't say enough good things about him! We're from the Bay so we dance a little crazy but he knew exactly what bay slaps to play and made sure the guests were having the time of their lives. Sorry for the blurry photos but that's how you know we were having too much fun! We got so many compliments on the music that night! We couldn't be happier. If you're looking, you should just stop right now and book DJ Troy!!

DJ Troy was the best DJ we could have asked for! From the minute of our initial conversation with him, he was extremely helpful with tips for the wedding even outside the music realm. As for the music, our guests were consistently on the dance floor and consistently RAVING about DJ Troy, even after the wedding. Book DJ Troy for his unique (yet crowd-pleasing) music, friendliness, and being an overall great person to work with.

DJ Troy did an amazing job for our wedding on Oahu! Easy to work with and very friendly, responsive, and professional. Biggest differentiator - he's skilled at mixing music and won't just play from a playlist. Transitions between songs are dynamic, and he's really good at feeling the vibe and energy of the moment and adjusting songs accordingly. He was the MC for the whole night and was helpful but not intrusive. You can trust that the night will be about you. Go with Troy!

DJ Troy was the DJ for our daughter's wedding at Turtle Bay Resort. Honestly, the party would still be going if we had not had to stop at 10 PM. Troy is a pleasure to work with-he is flexible, knowledgeable, and just all around terrific to work with. Our daughter and now, son-in-law, loved working with him and so did we. He called regularly to see if we needed any Oahu advice or ideas for our guests. His playlist ideas were just perfect for our 3 generations wedding. His ideas as to where to have the DJ booth were just perfect. Everyone danced and danced and partied, thanks to his expert work. He truly 'made' our party just fabulous and fun. He also did the sound system for the ceremony. Troy is a true professional and we highly recommend him. He's just terrific in every way. Much gratitude to Troy for a fabulous event.
