I had guests from Japan and they had a pretty tight schedule. I wanted to take them to the shop because they love the shortbread cookies and would have enjoyed the opportunity to see and purchase the other products they offered but their store hours are so limited; Monday through Friday from 10 am to 2 pm.We could never make it work.If the store was opened longer or even on the weekends, it would have been easier to take them there.

Found out about the Diamond Bakery factory from a social media post and I put it down as one of my stops during my trip to Honolulu. The large factory is located in an industrial area and is this easily identified with its bright yellow paint. There is a small parking lot and we were fortunate to get a space. Signs point you to the door to enter The Shop at the Factory. As we entered the lady at the counter had a sample tray and offered samples of several of their products. The store is like a showroom with tables and displays of all their products, shortbread cookies, biscuits, crackers that came in boxes, bags and individual sizes. They had a Year of the Snake Hawaiian shortbread almond cookie box for the upcoming Chinese New Year. You see varieties and flavors that you don't see at the stores. The prices were better than what I saw at Long's and ABC. Glad I made the stop here as I was able to pick up some items to bring back home.

I saw some reviews of this Diamond Bakery factory on IG. You can't miss this building on Mo'owaa Street. It's a huge yellow building with red trim. And for those of you like me, it was near our Mikey's cookie who have since retired. This factory is a cute little shop that has all their cookies and crackers out on tables for purchase and the prices is cheaper than longs. I specifically went in to purchase the little red box - their lunar new years shortbread almond cookie. It's a great gift to give anyone to celebrate Chinese new year! And the lady who assisted me was really helpful! Promise I'll be back because she mentioned that Diamond bakery will be coming out with doggy treats in the near future! stay tuned!

Going crackers...Seriously as I had no idea they existed here! As I entered i was so surprised as I expect a basic warehouse setting to only be shocked how beautifully it was set with a summertime vibe decor.A gentleman approached as I gazed at a screen filled with the creative process of making the treats he explained the original location was at Makiki ZIPPY'S until their current location here in Kalihi and how they kept it all the same but have done some small changes in the packaging which is nice and gave them more space to add information as they were part of the Children's Miracle Network and to support the local kids.I came here as they were at the Made In Hawaii Festival that we had recently though I rushed through it and skipped them hoping to return was lucky enough to get a 25% off coupon from a friend that provided me with a shopping bag as well got me here and in Kalihi it's so easy to find their huge yellow warehouse even in the distance..ahhh there it is lol!!!With lots of other fun merchandise available as well this is must see stop to see what's new and i found that as well along with buying mix and match cookies which are $5.99 for any twelve which they'll pack it all in a cute mesh bag. Support local that's been around for generations and am so happy to have found this Diamond in Kalihi.Thank you!

Haven't been to their store front, but have been purchasing their cookies (my fav are the candy bead cookies for myself and the coconut for sending to the mainland) for years, and sometimes their crackers. Saw Alan Wong's article in Midweek about Diamond Bakery saltines as the base for great snacks and pupus from good old days. What caught my eye was not the tuna salad or Kamaboko dip but the (canned) corned beef salad! I had a package of Candy Bead cookies so I tore it open and ate a few. Yummy!I also had the saltiness (doesn't happen often - was meant to be!) in my house, and had just opened a can of corned beef to supplement leftover corned beef brisket and cabbage so I made old time canned corned beef salad! Before eating it with the cb salad, I savored a cracker solo - it was so ono !!!While the salad was good, I truly savored and enjoyed the crisp and crunch of the saltiness with just the right amount of salt even more. Mmmmm! Will do tuna salad or Kamaboko (IYKYN) dip with the saltiness next! Can't wait!

These are delicious parcels from the beautiful island, our very own paradise here on Earth. A variety of tropical flavors the true gem of the islands, other varieties in crackers and biscuits. The factory itself is not to be missed, offering array of transit ready and packaged delectables prepared and baked onsite.#LOVEMaui. It is without a doubt heartbreaking for the devastation in Maui, especially our beloved Lahaina...Aloha aku no, Aloha mai no. E hoomau, maua kealoha. (I give my love to you, you give your love to me. May our love last forever.)

The holidays of 2023 brought sweet treats to my workplace, which is how I got to try these sleeper (to me) cookies. While I've eaten their soda and saloon pilot crackers as a child, I'd never have thought they could possibly make a good cookie. Founded in 1921 by three Japanese immigrants, today they can be purchased at their factory store on Oahu and various local retailers throughout the Hawaiian Islands and US West Coast. THE GOODS:The trio that made me smile were Candy Bead (rainbow nonpareil sprinkles), Dark Chocolate Chip and Mini Chocolate Chip Mac Nut. While they all had the same homemade, buttery base, the different insides and toppings made them unique. They're small, around the size of a silver dollar and crunchy. OVERALL:Very few store-bought cookies are worthy of my 5-star approval!

Shopping in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii...Our friend, Deborah P., said that she saw a sign for the new store at Diamond Bakery. We all decided to tag along with her and check it out. (It's always more fun to go somewhere new with friends!)Located in an industrial area, Diamond Bakery (an old school establishment) has a private parking lot. Go to the entrance and ring the doorbell. Someone will let you in through the glass doors.Inside, the shop is nicely air conditioned! There are about four soft, comfy turquoise -colored chairs for customers to sit and rest. The displays are organized, colorful, and interesting. We were wondering if all of the different flavors of cookies are available at other stores or just here? Some flavors seemed more exotic - like orange cream shortbread... Very tempting...I think we did some damage and know where to go for snacks! Their hours are currently:Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm, so - maybe go on a holiday like we did (because most people are working during these hours of operation).Happy shopping!

Thank you Donna O. for recommending this place to me!I was heading to Kalihi to accomplish a few errands and noticed a recent checkin by my Yelp Elite friend Donna O. After inquiring to her about "other" business, Donna mentioned this place which is within uber close proximity to other cookie shop.Finding a parking spot was a little challenging. Even tho they have a rather large parking lot...all the spaces (except one) were taken, possibly by employees? Otherwise, street parking is scarce too in this heavily industrialized area. Getting in the shop proved a little challenging as this place is locked down well. Lol. What does one expect? ...it's the processing location for a very large business with a little retail section in front. Once I found the front door then the door buzzer, I spoke to someone on intercom and the door lock was released allowing me access to the magic cookie shop.Have to admit, retail area is small still, fun! You can put together your own sampler of individual cookies or buy the prepackaged/boxed ones. Either way, you know you are getting the freshest product! And, the selection of flavors was magical. Have never seen some of them before; at least I don't remember them. My new favorite flavor...orange creme cookie with macadamia nuts! In fact, after doing a sampling with a few friends, we all agreed...favorite flavor for all of us! Might have to go back to get more of that one soon!Hours are short as mentioned earlier, this is mainly a production location. Still, if your in the area, do yourself a favor and find them! Sorry not many pictures. Was too busy trying samples. Hahah.
