A friend introduced me to Michael at Cremona Violin in Honolulu. He helped my daughter choose her first violin so she can start lessons as well as fit my other daughter with a new cello that will hopefully last a couple of years (since she's only 8 and has lots of room to grow still). Michael was kind and patient and knowledgeable. I look forward to working with him in the future.

I was invited here by my violin professor. There was a soft opening where I was able to play a fine Italian violin worth more than my house in Hawaii as well as instruments starting at $900. While the highlight of my visit should have been playing the old Italian instrument, it was other things that impressed me.After the shop manager, Michael Wong, allowed me to play an instrument I could never afford, I started to play his other instruments. What shocked me was the quality of sound that came from his $900 and $1,200 instruments. I have never played instruments in this range that offered so much for the money. I've played $3,000 instruments that didn't sound as good as these violins. One of the things I noticed was that even on the $900 instrument, the setup was well done. It was easy to play even on the high notes on the e-string. On instruments at this price point, that rarely the case. For high school players looking for a step up instrument, it is important the set up is maximized for ease of playing. The $5k+ instrument also were excellent buys. Too much detail to go into here on the better instruments, but there was a great array of professional level instruments. What also impressed me was the adjustment of my violin. My instrument is a entry level professional instrument. I saw some violin tools out and they offered to do an adjustment on my violin. I've had my instrument at shops in Honolulu/Chicago/Detroit and the adjustment was never quite right. After I told them what was wrong with my instrument, it took about 45 seconds of what appeared to be tapping on my sound post to bring the instrument back to its full depth and volume. I've spent hundreds of dollars experimenting with different kind of strings because the last three adjustments at other shops didn't yield the results that Magico was able to do in a few minutes. While walking into violin shops can be intimidating, Michael Wong makes it easy. He is low key, honest, helpful, and an accomplished violinist too. If you are looking for a full sized instrument, Magico will provide you with the best value and quality on island.P.S. 日本語もOKです。

Wow!!!!!!! What a fantastic store. Michael was beyond gracious and helpful; his service, expertise, and kindness are without peer. My son thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially getting to see the cellos and "test drive" a few.Michael walked us through the cellos one by one, providing information on each, including builds and place of origin. We settled on a beautiful cello that sounded out of this world.Highly, highly, highly recommend this store. Service is exceptional, quality of the instruments is top notch, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. Having been to other music stores,I can safely say Michael has the competition beat!

Michael was so helpful and willing to let me try out as many things as I liked. He let me come in and try his new inventory without any pressure to buy. Michael understands what a commitment it is to buy a new violin and he made the process very easy and smooth for me. Thanks again!

Just visited this shop for the first time today, as I was lending an opinion on a violin a friend was considering purchasing. My impression is that this shop is far and away the best violin shop in Hawaii. The owner, Michael Wong, is very warm, friendly, refreshingly low key, and is an an accomplished violinist. He is very knowledgeable about stringed instruments and quality and price point/value of his stock is first rate and the best you will find in Hawaii. While we were there, a customer came in to purchase a student violin for her daughter, and they walked out with a remarkably nice sounding 3/4 violin for $800, an amazing bargain. Top notch luthier is on board as well. Highly recommend (I am a luthier as well).

Our experience of purchasing a viola from Cremona Violin Hawaii was 100% positive. We learned about their Luthier Yam Raz who was trained to make string instruments in Cremona, Italy from my daughter's friend. They are both professional violinists. It was very nice to learn that Cremona Violin Hawaii has such a well skilled luthier. From that, I was very comfortable and able to trust for what they carry and make. The owner was very informative, not pushy, and the price was very reasonable for the excellent quality. He is very honest. Four violas we tried, we were able to choose one that we liked on the same day we visited. My husband is very happy with the instrument. We thank Cremona Hawaii for an excellent service you provided. Most of all, we love your instruments! We highly recommend Cremona Violin Hawaii.

I've only started playing Violin for a year, and I wanted to get an upgrade so that I could potentially raise my playing level. I came here and got a 1.6k violin and traded in my old one. The experience was fantastic, the Owner had a very awesome and chill chat with me. If you are a violinist in Hawaii, definitely check them out!
