If you're looking for a Kailua music store, look no further than Coconut Grove Music!Located right across the street from Bob's Sports Bar, above Lanikai Brewing Company, Coconut Grove Music is the go-to place for your stringed instrument needs. Whether you need a tuner, new strings, or guitar picks or are looking for a new or used instrument and don't want to travel into town, this is the place to stop by.Street parking is available, or you can park in any of their free, assigned stalls in the small parking lot next to the building. The entrance to the parking lot is a little narrow and can be easily missed, but there is a mini food truck close to the entrance, which might help you find out how to get in.To get upstairs, take the stairs facing the street to the second floor and walk straight towards the end through the brown door. Their old location used to be through the brown door on the bottom floor that took you upstairs, but they are now in the last brown door on the second floor.I will say that some of their items are priced a little more than a big box store like Guitar Center. Then again, if you think about it, if you're already in Kailua, you probably wouldn't want to drive to Pearl Highland or even to town at Easy Music Center to pick up some new strings.Shout out to them for having the Elixir Phosphor Bronze 11|52 acoustic guitar strings and a couple of the Herco guitar picks!

I (and my 9 year old daughter) have been getting guitar and ukulele lessons from Harry Koizumi here. Great location and Harry is very knowledgeable and great with kids. Also purchased gear here and Rick has been super helpful with my questions.

my mother in law asked about hawaii made ukulele straps so i went to the closest music shop- unfortunately they only had 2 non local ones available (local ones sell super quick!) BUT the person helping me was SO nice and started looking online for local made ones at other music shops he knew of. He found me a shop in haleiwa that had many options. I love when small biz supports other small biz- there wasn't any hesitation to not share another biz that could help. will be returning with my musician husb, i'm sure there's lots of guitars he wouldn't mind checking out.

I had a bad experience with this store. I needed to have my Pono Ukulele and Kamaka Ukulele fixed. Pono-Bridge came off and Kamaka-Small section on the bottom needed to be glued. Cost-$495. I was not too happy and was never given a quote prior to work being done. After complaining about it, he lowered the amount but still paid a substantial amount. Auwe!

Good selection of Kala uk-u-le-le's. Prices seems reasonable for such. Decided to learn during my six weeks on Oahu. Kala Mahogany tenor with pickup and built-in tuner was my choice. Gonna have some fun.

Left two ukulele's; one to restring, the other to replace one tuning key. After I took both ukulele's home; the replaced tuning key was silver, the remaining three tuning keys are plastic. I specifically told the person that if he couldn't find a plastic tuner to replace, then change them all. I went back to purchase silver tuning keys; none were available. So I purchased wooden ones; only one worked, the others seemed like it was stripped and couldn't turn. My restrung ukulele is another story. After tuning the ukulele, two strings broke off. I learn my lesson and will look at YouTube to start maintaining my own ukulele's. I will never go back to this establishment. Hope you all have better luck.

My sister and I happened to be in Kailua for an event and stopped by Coconut Grove Music afterward, since I was in search of an electric guitar. If you're coming from town/Pali Hwy, they are on the first right turn after the marsh, down that road and on the right. Coconut Grove Music shares a building with a Crossfit, and fortunately the music shop has several reserved stalls in the tiny lot for its customers. The shop is on the second floor; follow the signage to the enclosed stairwell.Aside from one other person, we were the only customers there. The space was clean and nicely laid out, with several areas where people could sit and try out instruments. A blue Jackson Dinky eventually caught my eye, and after holding and tinkering with it for a bit, I ended up purchasing it. The guy at the counter, Mikey, was welcoming and let us browse the guitars without any hassles. He was happy to provide a pick and amp cable when I wanted to try out the Jackson, and was encouraging when I explained that I was looking to get back into playing the guitar after not having played in years. It was also awesome to hear that Coconut Grove Music does a free initial setup for guitars purchased there, within the first six months after purchase. Definitely a positive experience!

Just scooped a ukulele from here on my Oahu trip, great shop with quite a selection and a very helpful guy running the shop. Would definitely recommend for other spontaneous music purchases!

This local music shop focuses on guitars and ukulele, with some other instruments. It is run and owned by local musicians and has been in business over 35 years. Staff was very helpful and I came home with a ukulele that I feel confident will sound great and last for years (and not be a piece of touristy junk).

This music store is so necessary for the Windward side. Without it, we would have to travel to town in order to get what we need. They have great selections and their staff is super helpful.
