I was in the area renewing my ID with the Chief, aka Dad hehe, and we walked over to the exchange for some snacks, drinks and to browse around. This exchange has tons of all things Coast Guard. Plentiful shirts, jackets, baby outfits, and CG uniforms/costumes for the kiddos. The line at the register is never long when we stop by.

Very happy the exchange is on the base. They have everything you need. The service is great as well! During the government shutdown they are providing 15% of drinks and consumables! They are also providing a venue for a pantry so donated food and groceries can be distributed to the Coast Guard personnel. Mahalo for your support!

The Coast Guard Exchange is a small convenience store located on Sand Island Road. It is exactly 2.3 miles in from the corner of Nimitz Highway. There's a small section for each department they have so generally speaking the selection is small. When ever I go there I usually always have something specific that I want. For example I recently shopped there for a Kindle Fire which they had on black Friday sale. It was cheap at 29.99 and no sales tax of course. I'm thinking this is a hard to beat deal.CGE has various departments such as snacks, liquor, clothing, TV, small appliances and of course Coast Guard uniforms and the accoutrements to name a few.The staff is always courteous and eager to help.I gave a 3 rating because of the small selection but this is also the reason that the store is easy to shop. No crowds. Give them a try you may be pleasantly surprised.

We make the drive out here for our tobacco purchases. What's thirty some for a log of tobacco on schofield is only $20 and some change for the same thing here.

At the end of the Sand Island Access Road is this gem of a base and facilities. On this base you can find a nice club for your "beer needs", a Coast Guard mini-mart with great priced items (similar to the NEX or AAFES), and even a great priced gas station!!Because of this, I plan to use this facility for my needs while in town. No more paying the high prices of for simple necessities or gas. I can drive about 4 minutes down Sand Island and save a literal fortune. It's well kept, clean, and protected with a Gate Guard. I like that this Base is right in the heart of the city. What a convenience. Check this base out if you're here and military (active or retired). I even purchased a "Coast Guard" reusable shopping bag. It's unique and something, once again, I've never thought of even though I've already been on Island for 4+ years. Cheers shipmates!!

Very well managed store! Contains a slice of everything you need, plus cheap fuel for your vehicle. They have GREAT sales on clothing, and a small clearance section of unique items. They also carry fun little Coast Guard toy models for the kids that you won't find anywhere else. The class VI section is well stocked, and there is a smaller but skillfully ordered pantry. Nice electronics section! It's just like a smaller NEX but with unique items and easy parking. A great little eatery is just across the Gate Guard Shack. Check it out!
