At 80 years old Cindy goes to work everyday and open the shop for everyone to enjoy her creations and that is something to admire. From 1959, devoted husband, children, and family worked tireless hours in that same Chinatown location to establish her own store, and named it Cindy's Lei Shoppe. Cindy is proud to have her family continue this fourth generation family business.A lei is any series of objects strung together with the intent of being worn. Lei are constructed of flowers, leaves, sea shells, seeds, nuts, feathers or even bones of various animals. A lei is a common symbol of love, friendship, celebration, honor or greeting. In essence, it is a symbol of Aloha.I know Cindy for many years and no she is not my best friend but im a loyal costumer so every time im in Oahu I will come see her and say hello and buy me some Lei.Her family is helping her to run the shoppe and they are always friendly and attentive to help you to order.n Hawaiian tradition, these garlands were worn by ancient Hawaiians to beautify themselves and distinguish themselves from others. The Maile lei was perhaps the most significant. Among other sacred uses, it was used to signify a peace agreement between opposing chiefs. The Shoppe is not fancy or big but the selections of flowers is intensive so needless to say over with many of different creations and quality is a great value and fair price.

I needed a haku for my daughter's senior pics we were going to take that day in Maui... the flower shops in Maui only did preorder and unfortunately I didn't plan ahead of time . This lei shop had premade hakus ,,, they carried basic ones and glamour ones ... I purchased the basic one bc the owner suggested it would be better for a petite person ... honestly either one would've been perfect. It was only $40 and the glamour one was $70. I hand carried it throughout the short flight, it held up well and photographed beautifully. Thank you so much Cindy's

Driving down Maunakea St across from the famous Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery is one of the best flower and lei shops on the island. Cindy's Lei and Flower shop has awesome prices on all their leis. It's been one of our go to places for all our special occasions. If you can't find street parking, then right next door is a municipal parking lot. Truthfully just have a friend sit in the car while you run in and grab your flowers. Well that's what I like to do since I despise paying for parking.

Roy was 5 stars and then some! I called just a day before Valentine's Day needing a Valentine arrangement and a birthday arrangement. Within 3 hours he had both arrangements ready to go. They were absolutely stunning, at a great price, and he even packaged them so they wouldn't tumble on the drive and helped load them in the car. He also had beautiful Leis at a great price. He and his staff were so lovely and a pleasure to work with. Top notch.

I was raised by a first generation Chinese family where flowers are not generally given as gifts. However, I was also born and raised in Hawaii where the Hawaiian and the local culture will also express one's love and care via flowers. Favorite niece by default was to graduate from John A Burns School of Medicine and I wanted to get her something special for the graduation ceremony. She previously received a leipo'o (aka flower crowns) when she graduated from high school. Back then it was your typical colorful ones with assorted blooms, fern and baby's breath. But forthis occasion, I wanted something grand and spectacular. My solution: a Glamor Haku from Cindy's Lei Shoppe (CLS). CLS, located in the heart of Chinatown that started business back in 1961, is a family business where concurrently three generations are providing leis locally as well as shipping to the mainland. I am often in Chinatown on the weekends and on one Sunday earlier this year, my eyes landed on their Glamour Hakus on display and realized that's the answer to my solution. University of Hawaii historically has their spring commencement the day before Mother's Day and the medical school graduates on Mother's Day. Knowing how busy CLS was going to be, I submitted my inquiry and placed an order ahead of time. With flowers, there's no guarantee on specifics - - it's purely dependent on the weather and supply. Supplies are sourced both locally and off island. With that knowledge, I knew I wanted something striking with some floral blossoms (cymbidium orchids) that will make a statement. CLS delivered. During both graduation ceremonies (general commencement and medical school), favorite niece by default stood out amongst her fellow classmates with her height and that Glamour Haku! In the evening, she also wore it to dinner 2 nites in a row where heads turned as she passed tables.Mission accomplished. I was very pleased with the quality, price, and customer service. It gets very busy during peak season at CLS so you need to do your due diligence and inquire in advance and understand the availability of limited resources. In closing, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to CLS and their amazing staff for making me a proud uncle on my niece's amazing accomplishment. Many photos were taken to document this moment and CLS contributed to memories to be cherished. 2024 #40

I called from the Mainland for a delivery while staying in Hawaii to commentate our Anniversary. I spoke with a kind gentleman on the phone who was very Helpful- the flowers arrived at the Resort on the day requested- and they were gorgeous!! They lasted our entire 9 day visit. It was a bouquet that was suitable for carrying and to put in a vase also!! They were exactly what I had envisioned!! Thank you!!

Recently had a lei and haku shipped to WA for a celebration of life, and everything went smoothly and as planned. I placed the order online the week before and it arrived on-time just as promised. The lei and haku were packed nicely and flowers were fresh when they arrived. They didn't have the lei that I initially purchased but they contacted me and gave me options for a replacement. It was beautiful. Price point is slightly high, BUT considering it's being shipped overnight, I think it's still worth it. Would highly recommend and will use Cindy's again.

Love Cindy's leis! They are efficient with your check out and have a great selection of fresh flower leis! When I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted and provided assistance right away. I wanted a lei for a man (which is usually ti leaf and kukui nut) but we wanted it to smell nicely too! So I chose green orchid, tuberose and an orange flower lei which I think is a great combination of smell and masculine colors. We have a work colleague who is having a birthday today, and we forgot a lei, so I ran down there mid morning from downtown. It took me 10 minutes from Iolani Palace to Cindys Leis at a brisk pace, and I made it back before he arrived at work!

Warning: They're sometimes so busy. But it's because they're so consistently good at providing me fresh, beautiful lei. If you're important enough that I want to gift you a lei, I'll also try to make sure it's from this family run shop. Bonus: they're great about letting you arrange curbside pickup!
