Chow Mein Express

There's not much good options for HNL airport, this one was one of the better options. I ordered a 3 item combo, got the broccoli beef, spicy beef and chicken with mushrooms and fried rice. This combo was $16.99.I also got two pork spring rolls for $5.This is just regular food court "Chinese" food. It was quite oily and didn't seem too fresh ( we arrived EOD) .The portion was big enough to share between 3 people. Overall not too bad considering how over priced the other food options are.

I was waiting for my flight to come back home and this food court was near my gate. Out of the three choices, I gave this one a try since I have had CPK and BK before.Honestly, I am going to rate this food as a whole. It was not really that good to my taste. The Beef and Broccoli was more on the bland side and the beef was chewy. The broccoli was at least ok. The Mongolian Beef I really couldn't taste much of it at all. It was spicy and that was it. Orange chicken also didn't have much flavor for me either. It was not even fried either and the batter felt soggy. The chow mein and fried rice was nothing special.I mean, I was hungry, so I gave it a try. I'll think about eating at other places next time I am at the airport.

Got a veg omelet and Smartwater at the crack of dawn. Grateful they were already open at 6 am. Food was all right. Edna helped me, polite and kind.

The food had decent spice level and they were quite quick with the service. They don't have much options for vegetarians, so one has to pick their vegetarian dishes carefully. So I picked up four options out of the multiple options set up right infront of me. This restaurant is set up in the food court and is a pocket friendly option.

DO NOT EAT HERE.The food is not edible.Ordered the beef and broccoli and for $12 I got all broccoli and like 3 small pieces of meat that I do not even think is beef.I had to throw it all away; what a waste of food and money.

The only reason they get three stars instead of one is simply because of the staff. The older gentleman and woman working today were wonderful. Happy, friendly, quick and efficient.The airport line is always long, and it was definitely busy and loud, but totally normal in the airport.Where they fell short was with the food. I'll add a pic of what I got below, but the chicken was dry/inedible in the mushroom chicken. The zucchini in that same dish was mush...The orange chicken was delicious and the chow main was okay.

The orange chicken was super dry and lacking any kind of sauce, but it was still edible, like overcooked chicken nuggets. The beef and broccoli was really good- the florets were soggy with sauce but the stems were firm. It's nice to have a firm stem, or so my wife says. The prices were as expected, but with the 25% "airport surcharge". Bonus: the tables right outside the food court have a nice view of the Japanese courtyard and a lady dancing a hula near my table. Unless the dry chicken was making me hallucinate.

Don't make the mistake I did and assume, "oh, Americanized Chinese food at the airport can't be that bad, right?" It's somehow blander and soggier than I would ever imagine a Panda Express clone could be (even the orange chicken and especially the chow mein...).I don't blame the people behind the counter, they serve quickly and do their job. I thought I was saving a few bucks but getting a $16 burger next door is probably a better option - you might be slightly less disappointed that way (probably).Ambiance: depressing. Food: tasteless. money: wasted. Plane: delayed.

Arrived at 8:30pm and didn't feel like doing pizza or burger King, so Chinese food it was. Got a 2 combo plate for $15.17. At this hour there was only chow mein left for the starch, whereas I was really looking forward to the chow fun; chow mein was okay, had to add a packet of soy sauce for flavor. For the proteins I got the orange chicken and the beef and broccoli. Orange chicken is just fine, but beef and broccoli portio annoyed me because I got 3 pieces of beef and the rest broccoli. Should've been called broccoli and beef...The workers were trying to wrap up the night and had no demeanor to them. Portion size and quality for the price are extremely poor. The only reason for the stars is that they have some legit chili oil if you ask, so definitely get that. Plenty of seating in the outdoor atrium area, although you'll likely be subjected to some jet fuel and engine noise. Should've just stuck with CPK or the King

Located near gate A15. This place is comparable to Panda Express with fewer options. Not bad for airport food at Hawaii prices of $14-17. Service is pretty fast
