Chan's Drive Inn

I'm sorry but I don't know how a restaurant could even think about serving something like this up. Usually I'm not one to complain when it comes to food. I love trying new things and new places but I should have listened to my boyfriend who grew up in this area and told me the food here wasn't that good. We were hungry and it was a close walk from our place. Anyways, I ordered the meat jun and it was BURNT. What kind of chef thinks this is okay? I'm usually optimistic so I think "okay maybe it just looks burnt but it may just be their way of cooking it" I grab a bite and sure enough, it was not edible. I'm sorry, after eating this I don't think I'll come again.... if you don't even care what you serve, then I'm afraid of trying other things from here.

This place been here for as long as I can remember and the food is still as good as I've once rememebered. The inside has changed a lot but given that I haven't been here in such a long time it seems drastic (lol). We came a little close to closing but they were still willing and able to service us with our order. We decided to dine in because we had a few minutes but then we were rushed out because they said they had a party to go to. Ordered a beef broccoli plate which came with 2 scoops rice, 1 scoop macaroni salad (I didnt get the chance to take a picture because I didnt bring my phone with me and I was hungry lol) the food was good, prices are alright, I guess. Don't think this is some where you'd like to dine in if you really enjoy that fine dining type of feel. It may be rather shanty and have a cheapened outlook to it especially for some. But as for myself because I grew up near the area it is a place of familiarity for me. So, other than being rushed out before being done eating, I'd eat here again and I would definitely take/bring certain people I know here to experience it. This and the manapua truck behind A building anyways, I was originally going to rate it 4 stars but given the "transformation" of it's look (the seatings changed, they don't have booths on one side it's all tables with chairs and nothing hanging on the walls anymore... The walls could use some deep cleaning with some bleach or new paint I guess) and being rushed out, I deducted one star. So 3 stars it is (:

I frequently past by Chan's Drive Inn and I was always curious about the food. Chan's Drive Inn is located in a small strip mall on North School street in Kalihi near the enterance of KPT and next to Kokua Kalihi Valley. I went in early morning and only saw the cashier sitting down on one of the many chairs in the restaurant. Chan's Drive Inn is a plate lunch/take out place similar to L & L and other "Drive Inns". I was the only customer at the time and the cashier was nice. Once he saw me enter the restaurant he quickly got up and went to the counter. I ordered the all day breakfast which is around $5. Service was quick and efficient. In and out in a little over 5 minutes. I haven't really tried anything else from this place since it is my first time eating here. The prices here are reasonable. The workers are nice. The all day breakfast was good. It was your average breakfast plate. This place also carries crab puffs, steak and shrimp, cheeseburgers, and so forth. I think this place is worth a try if your hungry and looking for a reasonably priced take out place.

"Chan's Drive Inn" isn't really a drive-in. It's a tiny little restaurant in a drab run-down mini strip mall on School Street. I stopped here for a quick lunch before a business meeting in the area because it was convenient.I ordered the #C BBQ combination plate - chicken, short ribs, and one other "mystery meat". It also came with 2 scoops of rice, cabbage salad, AND macaroni salad. All of the meat was extremely fatty - not just a little, but tons of fat. The chicken was tasty - the short rib not so much, just because of the extreme amount of fat. I tasted the mystery meat - beef of some sort - but it had a very odd seasoning that I didn't care for. The rice was tasty as well. I didn't try the macaroni.Not horrible food but not really a "destination restaurant".

Cheap eats! Good and service is friendly and fast! Love i just love their crab puffs! Wish had a little more stuffing inside but other than that its yummy! Other plates are good too! Even though parking sucks location is good!

Nice people. Its like L&L style food. I like going here cause I can phone order and pick up my Big Breakfast before work.They also have a catering menu. So you can order Katsu, Kalbi, bbq chicken, etc by the pan size. Which is cool if you need some quick bbq food for a party.

My boyfriend and I used to eat here after he picked me up from school in town. It's really convienent because he lives about 30 seconds away..Our favorite would be the Eggplant w/Chicken, Mochiko Chicken, and the fried MahiMahi!!And the owner is super friendly :)

This place has the best katsu of any drive inn. I live in Manoa and works in the west side. Chan's drive inn is the place to eat and avoid traffic.

I like it that this restaurant is reasonable on price and gives a large portion of food.

I could take this a zero if icoulf bad gau gee only you could eat the wrap there wasn't even and meat or veggies never coming back
