Good place for lunch if you want pasta. The mini is pretty big and the regular lasts for three meals! I like the meat sauce and linguine with vegetables. The lady who works there is super nice and fast with the orders! When I pick up a plate I take it back to the office and put in the fridge for dinner if I don't feel like cooking that night. Adding to the lunch rotation for sure!

I haven't been here since COVID-19 started 3/2020. Since I was in town, decided to get my large salad. When you order this, they will give you a little of each from their veggie section over a bed of Romaine lettuce BUT you can ask for only what you want. I always choose only the pasta salad and the curry chicken salad (my favorite). I also ask for the olives and pickled carrots on the side.I ordered the Linguine with Meatballs for my husband. They gave a lot of food...he enjoyed it for 2 meals!I ordered the Chicken Parmagiana with Penne pasta for dinner...never tried theirs before. The chicken was kind of dry...hmmm, maybe because I put it in the refrigerator and heated it up for dinner? Not sure. Also, there was meat sauce over the chicken but not enough sauce on the penne pasta...hardly any taste. Come to think of it, I had this same problem before when I ordered the Eggplant Parmagiana with penne pasta.Suggestion: Ask for another scoop of pasta sauce.

Man! I wanted to love Catania!I remember (over 10 years ago), Catania was at the former Remington College Building.I dont recall the guy's name, but the man that worked there on the daily was an amazing cook. Probably some of the better pastas i've had. I went to Catania, hoping to see him and he wasnt there. Not sure if he sold, retired, is somewhere else, or just simply quit, etc.Catania is located at the Pioneer Plaza, alongside many other eateries. Parking is non-existent in the area. You will need to park on the street somewhere or find a nearby parking structure. I want to say that the closest one is Pantheon in Ft. Street Mall, but I could be wrong. You are supposed to call them for their daily specials -- today there were none. I am unaware of any Instagram accounts for them.It was slow. I think I went before the usual lunch rush, as I took an early lunch today. Today's order: 1 Mushroom Marsala and 1 Fettucine Alfredo. When I tell you that the sauces were 90% water and 10% something else, I am not kidding. Both entrees, there was NO TASTE. None. I tried adding black pepper, reheating and mixing, the works. It tasted like pasta with chicken on it. Wet pasta with chicken on it. There was very little sauce to begin with, but when I watched the lady add the sauce, I could tell by looking at it, that it was going to be on the lighter side.I remember the sauces being so thickened and in abundance that im just not sure what happened. A microwavable lean cuisine has more flavor than these. As with all of my reviews, I never disclose price, as those are always subject to change. But for the price, you get a decently sized (and weighty) portion. You also get a piece of garlic bread -- which was pretty good.Would I try again -- maybe, if I see a different cook.In the meantime, Ill stick to Allegrini Mozzarella, not too far away.2 stars because I used to love the place and the take out containers are nice.

Located in Pioneer Plaza, Catania Ristorante Italiano is a great place to grab a bite to eat for lunch if you work in the downtown area. The shop is small, located among the many other eateries in the hall, and offers Italian takeout. Their menu isn't extensive but it's enough to scratch that itch if you're been on a carb diet for a long time and need a cheat lunch. I ordered the linguine with sausage and meat ball sauce with veggies. The plate was a "mini" but the portions are very generous. At $10, I was surprised at the heftiness of my lunch while walking back to my office. All the food is precooked, so again, don't expect gourmet, but it was tasty overall. I'd say the taste to volume to value ratio was pretty good.Service is A+ and the lady behind the counter was very pleasant and courteous.

I was looking for a good place to eat Italian spaghetti and meatballs and sausage. It's very difficult to find good Italian take out food that's reasonably priced in the Honolulu area. I found it here. Catania is located in the Pioneer Plaza in downtown Honolulu. It's one of the many lunch places in this plaza that the business crowd patronize during lunchtime. They're only open Monday through Friday from around 11am until 2pm. They're busy from 12pm to 1pm with people who work in the downtown area. The spaghetti/linguini noodles are cooked perfectly and the sauce is delicious. I'm a big eater and the regular plate is very filling. I would probably put on a lot of weight if I eat here every day so I try not to go here too often. The service is fast (everything is precooked) and friendly. It's convenient for people who live and work in the downtown area but more difficult if you need to find parking (metered and pay parking nearby). They also have a few cold pasta salads and lasagna. If you have that craving for Italian food you should give this place a try.

I always would pass by the establishment when I'm roaming around pioneer plaza. Never thinking what I was missing. They have a decent sized menu at this specific location but what I can appreciate is they offer a mini size. Perfect for me cause there are times when I'm eating with my eyes more than anything (nothing wrong with left overs though).I decided to try their chicken piccata. Chicken was a little dry but you know chicken breast is just kinda like that. Most of their stuff is premade already and they just throw everything together with the sauce you choose. Oh but I also like how they ask what kind of noodle you prefer (linguini, spaghetti or angel hair?) That's so awesome to me. The lady who served me totally packed my mini styrofoam plate. Even asked me if I was ok with he amount of garlic caper sauce she loaded on, wow! I paid about $9 for just the plate. It's worth it. I'll be back!

What nice surprise. For a semi fast food restaurant the food is impressive. We tried the Chicken Parmesan which was very good. Being married to an Italian isn't easy when it comes to trying new places. For a quick nice lunch , large portion and good quality Catania is pretty hard to beat. Service is quick and with a smile.

The chicken piccata with linguine convinced me to write a review! Their noodles are cooked perfectly al dente--not hard nor soft. The sauce had all that salty goodness from the capers and the butter white wine sauce. I also like to order their alfredo sauce items and the chicken parmigiana.I don't order here often because I don't work closeby, but whenever I do visit, I know I'm having a good lunch. Great value for the price you pay. The regular size has enough for 3 servings if you're not a big eater. The mini is huge too! The workers pack in the noodles, sauce, and veggies to the point where the lid is bulging sometimes. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for pasta!
