Good variety of food options. Quick seating and service.I'm trying to eat less carbs so second time for lunch I've ordered the ribeye that comes with a small salad w/ ponzu and thinly sliced garlic. It's a yum and forces me to eat a reasonable portion for my health.Last week I ordered the ribeye medium/medium rare and it came out 100% well done, so today I requested medium rare/rare. This time it came out maybe 80% well done, 20% medium. It was still a yummy, healthy option for me, just a little cardboardy, so I will order the ribeye again, this time rare/"bloody" and see what happens. Maybe in the future I might request they put the steak in the freezer for 5 minutes before they sear my order. I feel kind of rude thinking to do that though. I should just cook my own damn steak at home more often! But I do like Carp Dori.

Don't go without a reservation even mid week or even at opening. Reservations are only made by calling the restaurant on the phone.

A great hidden spot for a late night eat, my friends and I had just finished working out and wanted something relatively healthy and this hit the spot. Tucked in the corner on the third floor of the mccully shopping center, I never knew this existed, but I am glad I tried it. It was a nice healthier option than everything else which seemed like fried food at that time. I did not know what to expect with the fried garlic but it was delicious, sweet even from the fry- it was great to spread on something or on its own. Just a little work to peel it. The beef tongue was a hit with my party and we all almost wanted more and I really liked the shiso leaf with the ume, you don't get to have that flavor everywhere. Definitely adding this to my list of late night eats.

One of my favorite restaurants located in the McCully Shopping Center! I would recommend making a reservation or calling ahead for availability because this place can get quite busy. There is street level and underground parking, but be aware that it could get hectic. The inside is traditional and cozy. They offer a good amount of izakaya dishes and drinks. My favorite is their Hiroshima style okonomiyaki. It's like a savory pancake loaded with cabbage, meat, seafood, yakisoba noodles and topped with pickled ginger, seaweed, okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, and bonito flakes. The service is also always friendly and quick!

I come for one thing and one thing only - motsunabe. This place offers the most affordable motsunabe on the island at just $17 per person, and the portions are incredibly generous. The motsunabe here is a true masterpiece: the buttery, sweet motsu combined with a savory dashi broth and a mountain of cabbage is simply divine. They don't skimp on the chives and burdock either, which adds to the rich and satisfying experience. And what better way to finish off the meal than with a serving of ramen, perfectly soaking up all the delicious flavors left in the pot?Admittedly, the rest of the menu is average, but the exceptional quality of the motsunabe more than makes up for it. For this reason, it remains one of my favorite Japanese restaurants on the island.

Carp Dori is in McCully Shopping Center on the top floor. It's located at the end that is opposite of Fook Yuen Seafood Restaurant. They have tables in the main dining room that can accommodate small to medium sized parties. Larger parties could be possible if you have reservations as they probably have to rearrange the tables. We came for lunch and the restaurant filled up quickly shortly after we were seated. Glad we got there early so we could get our drinks and food without waiting too long. It was a quick lunch so we ordered a bottle of sake, a pitcher or beer, 2 Yakitori 5 Skewers + Edamame, Hamachi Sashimi, Kanpachi Sashimi and Tako Wasabi. Price is reasonable and the food was good. Customer service was friendly and we were able to try out a new restaurant for a quick meal. Worth checking out in McCully Shopping Center if you're craving Izakaya.

We dined there on valentines night for a quick casual dinner. It's a nice little place with a sports (baseball) theme. We were seated and looked through the menu as the wait staff brought us water. They had specials as well as ramen, and yakitori, which we went for. The wait staff was friendly and answered all our questions, as well as suggested some item we should try. We placed our order and the food came out pretty quick. We ordered some of their special (6 piece) tempura as well as different types of yakitori and some side dishes. We were lucky that we made reservations for 6pm and they had happy hour til 6:45pm. I am not sure if it's only weeknights, so you would have to check. All the food we ordered were cooked nice, hot and fresh. We liked that we could order yakitori AS well as tempura. Overall, our experience here was pretty good from the food (a couple of things could have been cooked a little less) the wait staff was nice, and the restaurant was nice and cozy.... We would dine here again... we could only try so many things this time because it was only us two LoL.
