Captain Jim Sportfishing & Boat Tour

While this was not our first-ever charter fishing experience, it was without a doubt the BEST EVER! Our son researched numerous companies, and based on those reviews, we went with Captain Jim for our great adventure.The boat was in great shape - the bathroom was clean and had all you'd need (LOL!). All lines, poles, and lures were stowed so as not provide any trip/fall hazard. The crew was exceptionally knowledgeable, helpful, and responsive to everyone in the family.Our group of 5 (2 grandparents, our son, and 2 grandkids) are most certainly not expert fishermen - but from beginning to end, Captain Jim & first mate Hugo made our deep sea fishing expedition a fabulous time to remember. The initial safety and orientation briefing was professional, *quick,* and well-accepted by young and old alike, and off we went into the glorious waters off the shore of Oahu. We were truly in the "deep blue sea" in short order, ready and willing to cast our lines. Once back on shore, Captain Jim filleted and bagged our catch for dinner that evening, and we couldn't have gone to bed happier. We actually "fed the family" four nights with the delicious mahi-mahi, aka "Tenderloin of the Ocean."Side note: My husband had a favorite shirt that he unfortunately left on the boat in his exuberance to show off our catch to others in our group (firm and steady land-lubbers) who had elected to stay ashore. We contacted Captain Jim, who quickly found and mailed it to our home on the far shores of the mainland! Truly "above and beyond" is his motto!Deep sea fishing with Captain Jim Sportfishing is definitely a must-do adventure for anyone visiting Oahu, and we highly recommend you contact Captain Jim. Top-of-the-line Captain and first mate. Knows how to fish and where to catch fish. Both Captain and first mate were helpful and informative, not only on fishing, but the culture.

We went out for my brother's bachelor day 1/13/24. Couldn't ask for a better captain! Captain Jim, Adam and Kevin made our experience not only fun but comfortable. We will definitely be booking another trip with them. If anyone has any doubts or deciding which charter to use I 100% recommend him! You won't be disappointed.

Captain Jim was amazing. He took us last minute, and entertained us the entire time. Myself and 2 friends had a wonderful time. He even showed us turtles and tried his best to find a momma whale and her calf that other boats were seeing. Definitely recommend booking with him!!

Booked an 8 hour charter with Captain Jim. Within the first hour of our lines in the water we caught a good sized Ahi! What a rush, so much fun. We then caught a Mahi midday. Capt Jim is very knowledgeable about the best fishing techniques for these waters. As for booking, he graciously took us on short notice. Convenient boarding right in town. I will definitely book him when I have visitors in town again!

We chose Captain Jim because he had great reviews, and he did not disappoint. We had an amazing time out on the water! Chartered the boat for our family of six. We had so much fun and he is so knowledgeable. Got some beautiful fish, which we will have for dinner tonight. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time, and we did. Cannot recommend highly enough. If you are in Hawaii and would like to do some great fishing, book Captain Jim.

Captain Jim and his crew were great! We needed to scatter a loved ones ashes and wanted to also give our kids some fun on the water. From the moment I called Captain Jim was so helpful, providing advice and information. They were so welcoming and gentle in handling the scattering. Everything was set up for us and the boat was great. We joked that he guaranteed we would catch something and in the last 5 minutes he delivered on his promise :). Whether we caught something or not, we loved spending the day with Captain Jim and his crew!

I live on Oahu and have my own boat..got invited to go out with a group of guys for an all day charter. If you want to catch fish and learn 'local style', this is the boat for you. Capt. Jim and his deck hand Hugo are incredibly knowledgeable, down to earth and friendly. I never touched a pole, all I wanted to do was watch and learn (and boy did I). Awesome Awesome day. And oh by the way, we got an IGFA Offshore Grand Slam (3 Pelagic Species in the same day...my first ever) ...1 Marlin, 2 Hebi (Shortbill spearfish, and one Aku (Tuna). Mahalo Nui Capt. Jim and Hugo for the great day...I'll defintely be booking a day when I have friends and family on island and 'failure is not an option'.

I just got in from a fishing charter with Captain Jim. It was great. He was knowledgeable about Hawaii history and knows a ton about fishing. We caught 2 fish. We don't have anywhere to keep the fish or cook the fish so he called a restaurant he works with and they are cooking it for us tonight for dinner. The family is so excited for the dinner tonight. Captain Jim is a great captain. He makes for great conversation and knows how to hook a big fish. His boat is small so You'll be able to have a very intimate fishing experience. Fwiw, I got sea sick so that's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars. Otherwise a great experience for my family and I.
