The canoe hut has been recently renovated over COVID and is a very clean newly refurbished lounge that is comfortable to sit down and relax. The bar staff are pleasant and attentive and pour great drinks. It has daily happy hour from 4:30pm until 7:00pm. They put out a table of snacks to have while enjoying your drink. For food items they have a very limited menu but there is a Chinese restaurant next door that you can order to go and bring it to the canoe hut. There's parking available and easy access. A hidden jewel.

Read the previous reviews and was weary. The place has just recently been redone I found out while here. Kinda cute, love the surfboard light fixtures . Full bar, good bartender. Had a full house with the party, but ended with the karaoke ($1/song) - froze a couple times, and out of paper towels in ladies are the loss of star. Also had a tv for the game. Just enough seating. Worth trying out.

D.I.V.E.D isI sn'tV eryE njoyableWell, sort of anyway. This bar is the epitome of a Dive, a shabby bar, in a skanky motel, that's in a questionable area. The few times I've been here, there were some crack addicts hanging around outside on the sidewalk. Not the kind of crack addicts that add a certain "mystique" to a cool joint, but the kind of crack addicts that make you clutch your personal belongings close and say to yourself, "what the hell am I doing here?"The bar is in the Pacific Marina Inn and is fairly small. There isn't much of a decor here, and the patrons are a mix of locals and the unfortunate visitor that got suckered into staying at this motel. I guess the highlight of the place is the karaoke, but on the nights we were there, they had the volume cranked up to eardrum-shattering level so now instead of "fun", their karaoke is almost intolerable. Try to imagine Tutu, drunk off her ass, slurring the lyrics to "The Rose" at the top her lungs, WITH THE VOLUME ON FULL BLAST, Holy crap! The few things this place does have going for it is on some nights they have live hawaiian music, these are the only nights I'd recommend going. The bartender on the weekends is also friendly and keeps the cold drinks flowing. Other nights, they have drag queen shows, not the exotic drag queens like at the old Venus night club or Fusions, but well, the other type. Some of them did have some nice voices. They also serve free popcorn and potato chips, there was another pupu they served but I forget what it was.So if it's late one night and for some reason you find yourself around the Lagoon drive area and you're thirsty for a drink, come here if you dare. Just make sure to stash anything of value in your pockets and pray you have some earplugs handy.

Well ,I stay here a lot due to I travel for work and never knew they had a bar.The minute I found out, they did. I figured I would check it out and had an extremely pleasant and inviting experience. The bar tender "SINA" is to die for with her her pleasant and inviting demeanor. Really enjoyed myself and will definitely return, even if I'm not staying at the hotel, just for the hospitality there.Must do.Aloha and Mahalo Sina!!!

Finally came back after about three long years of Covid this Friday night, Friday the 13th. Perhaps this is why I'm scared to go back here. Let me tell you why.....Loved bringing my potential clients here, a bar where "everyone knows your name" kind of vibe, real Aloha Spirit. So disappointed in their re-opening! No Heineken light, no Miller light, and no Tito's Vodka! SMDH! WTH?! Canoe Hut was known for their awesome karaoke system, one of kind, just deposit your dollar bill and punch in your own song! No waiting for a DJ, no waiting for the wait staff, just FUN. Not to mention some great karaoke singers assembled here. I bring a lot of clients from Japan, and as you know, they love karaoke. Canoe Hut does have free karaoke now, but it's a speaker you can get from Walmart with a tablet that plays YouTube videos and two crappy microphones. The microphones and tablet died a little after 8 pm. The system and the sound were awful. Kind of a shame. The only great thing about Friday night was the bartenders. Both gentlemen were courteous and very apologetic. I sensed they wished they had more power to change things up. If you're looking to bring clients here for karaoke, don't bother. I don't think I'll be back. There are plenty of good karaoke bars out there, with an actual karaoke system with speakers, working microphones and no YouTube karaoke videos with commercials. Karaoke bars with light beer, Tito's, better food and cheaper prices. Like I said, it's a real shame.

Local patron of this bar for 10+ years! The loyal local customers have been WAITING for Canoe Hut to re-open, and our prayers were answered. Or so we thought, what happened to our KAMAAINA vibe? Are you trying to mimic the look and prices of those corny "Tiki" bars in Waikiki? Have you taken a look outside? It's Lagoon Drive. Stop driving away your LOCAL CUSTOMERS who come religiously twice a week, stay from opening to closing, and spend at least $100 a visit. We are not "layovers" who drop $20 and leave the next day. We are loyal and here to stay. But perhaps not if things continue this way. Canoe Hut will lose its "bread and butter" for good and it won't be because of Covid. Three stars and three stars only for the service and bartenders Ross and Clay! Let's go management give us our happy place back!
