I had an amazing experience having the private of having Candy Art/Chika at our wedding! All the guests absolutely loved the idea of candy art (both adults and kids) and I received so many compliments on having such a fun vendor at the wedding. They kindly offered the package of candy art and Photo Booth in which we paid for and it did not disappoint! Honestly, it was such a deal considering how much work they put in with both the candy art and the Photo Booth. We'd like to work with them again in the future if there are any events to plan, they were just so pleasant and joy to be around. Thank you so much!!

We were invited to an elite event and we saw this candy art. There were other animals and fish that she made but I didn't take a picture of everything. This would be a excellent idea for a party. I seen kids eating their candy and it must have been good because they went back for more. Contact Chika for a great addition to any party!!

Edible sugar figurines of colored bears, tigers, ducks, dragons and Hello Kitty?! What is that? Never heard of it. And you'll fall in love with them when you see them, just like me! Yes, this lady makes them right before your eyes! After seeing what they do and hearing good things about them from friends, I knew I needed to get them as part of the entertainment at my granddaughter's birthday party.Candy Art Hawaii, owned by Nathan and Chika Tanaka, have a gemstone here. They're the only ones that do it Hawaii, so I wasn't sure that I could get them for my party. This was the first thing I took care of in planning my party, some eight months before the party date. And yes, I was so fortunate that they were available. They specialize in "amezaiku," a traditional candy art of sculpturing hot candy into lollipops of various animals. Chika is the main candy artist, which began as a home-based business in 2009 when Nathan and Chika were inspired to share their unique craft after having lived in Japan. Amezaiku is a dying art from the 17th century, with only two active professional artists in the US Mainland and less than 50 artists in the world. Nathan and Chika's goal is to firmly establish amezaiku in Hawaii's culture, which requires them to train a new generation of artists.Candy Art Hawaii was the hit of the party! Amazing and colorful animal figurines done within three minutes in front of you. They were so cute that you wouldn't want to eat them. Thinking that they would be liked by the kids, I was amazed that the adults liked them even better (kids wanted to eat them, and the adults appreciated the skill of the artist)! And after the adults got their lollipops, some of them parked themselves nearby to watch Chika make more of them. I can see why amezaiku can appeal to a wide range of events - baby luaus, weddings, birthday parties, festivals, and even corporate events. The amezaiku booth was artfully set up by maintaining the cultural aspects, i.e., a wooden plank-like box serving station, Chika dressed in a kimono, and importing of special liquefied and solid sugars from Japan. Chika awed everyone with her twirling the sugars on a lollipop stick until it formed an animal or her creation and put the final detailed touches, such as the eyes and mouth. Then she hung it upside down to harden and then placed them in clear cellophane bag with a twist-tie. To keep in our hot weather, you can store it in the refrigerator. (Ours is still in there, as it's too cute to eat.) She even personalized one with the birthday girl's name on it and the number 3 (3rd birthday).Candy Art Hawaii provides all supplies - lollipop sticks, candy, bags, and ribbon. Their set-up is super fast at only 5 to 10 minutes. Much of their preparation is done before the event, i.e., 2 to 3 hours of cooking the homemade candy and preparing it to the right consistency. Reservations for their services should be made 9 to 12 months in advance, but sometimes they may have last-minute cancellations.Nathan, as Candy Art Hawaii, also provides photo booth services, which we did use his services for this party. Their props were more than adequate, and our guests were given free prints and had access to digital prints. Nathan does a special touch that ensures the best for his clients, as he asked for a copy of the invitation so that he could create a custom-made border for the photos by matching the colors and theme design. Nathan was on the ball, as the digital photos were easily accessed the day after the party. Three quality photos per print that were excellently done! Not stopping there, Nathan has many years of experience in balloon artistry, so he also does balloon art under the same name of Candy Art Hawaii, twisting balloons into animals, flowers, and things. He has an impressive website. I would have opted for this service also; however, we already had a commitment to another company. As an offshoot of Candy Art Hawaii, Nathan and Chika started "Simply Ai Candy" in Nov. 2012 that uses DECO clay and candy art to make premade, custom homemade bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, corsages and candy favors. Intricate floral designs are included in making roses, sakura, plum blossoms, calla lilies, and orchids.Wow, a one-stop shop for favors, balloon art, photo booth, and pre-made wedding items! I was certainly impressed from their services and highly recommend them for your special events. And take advantage of offering the unique amezaiku candy art that will simply astound everyone!

Who said you need a birthday or wedding to call on Candy Art Hawaii? What a great idea and quite the form of entertainment. Amezaiku (translated "Candy Art") was a new find for me! The artist (we had Chika) will smartly craft a lollipop of your choice. The list is made up of animals and flowers and unicorns. I got a cat and a butterfly. The greatest joy was to watch a ball of sugar turn into these designs. While watching the lollipops take shape I was told they also have a photo booth. I was a guest at an event that hired Candy Art and was glad because I will definitely consider hiring them if an event coordination presents itself to me.86/100 Yelp Review Challenge Los Angeles

Candy Art Hawai'i was a huge hit at my daughter's party. They make amezaiku (Japanese candy making) in the form of a lollipop. Guests come up and pick from a list and watch the artist color, shape and mold a piece of melted sugar candy into a delightful design of their choice. Just go on the website and check it out. They offer a variety of packages that include photo booth and balloon making. The booking process was quite easy via email. For my daughter's party I got the photo booth/candy making package. I was able to secure the photo booth design prior to the party via email. They arrived before the party started and everything was quickly set up. They were quite popular and had a line throughout the party. Nathan was the candy artist and because I was so busy I wasn't able to visit the booth. Before he left, he gave me three lollipops, one with my daughter's party theme. Very kind and thoughtful, an appreciated gesture. If you're planning a party, definitely consider Candy Art Hawai'i!

This was a lot of fun and all my guests enjoyed watching the shapes being made. As i was the hostess, i was busy most of my party and wasn't able to enjoy my own vendor. He was gracious enough to make me my own set of lollipops so i could have them to take home. I would definitely hire this service again. He arrived early, set up and went straight to work.

Chika and Nathan were absolutely the BEST! I just had my wedding on March 2 and I ordered 175 Koi and 175 Cherry blossom lollipops premade for favors. I also had them do their demonstration (show) during cocktail hour at my wedding. They were a HIT! everyone (especially the adults) loved it! The only sad part was that because I had to mingle and take pictures I was unable to watch!Nathan is so easy to work with. He responds to emails right away and answered all of my questions. I picked up the favors the day before and Chika was so sweet and helped me put them in the car. Each was carefully packaged (I had 3 boxes full of lollipops!) Because we couldn't get lollipops of our own during the wedding, Chika made some special ones just for us. She made a cute dachshund for me since my dog was at the wedding. I am just so happy that I found them in the Advertiser last year. Their work is amazing and they are so easy to work with. I will probably hire them for future parties (hopefully for our future 1st birthdays =] )

I first worked with Candy Art for my daughter's first birthday party. Having them there was worth every penny! It kept everyone entertained - I think the adults were more excited about it than the kids.Fast forward five years, I contacted Candy Art to see if they'd be available for my daughter's birthday party. It was a last minute inquiry on my part, but the quick response was they were already booked for the day in question, but they offered their services via their favors side of the business. Chika was very communicative through the process of ordering the amezaiku favors. When I picked up the favors, since they are fragile, I was happy that they were packed so nicely to minimize damage in transit. While the party guests didn't get the expected of a live candy artist, they still loves the favors.Any future events I plan, i hope to be able to incorporate a Candy Artist into the event.

Where do I even start......Nathan and Chika Tanaka are 2 of the most nicest people and most patient people I had the pleasure to meet and hire for any event. I have used Candy Art Hawaii for 4 events now, and every time they show up and do their candy art, it amazes everyone. Kids and Adults are speechless watching them create this amazing lolipop you never want to eat. I give them a million stars if I could. They are well worth it to have at any event. The photo booth is great, and they have printed and digital copy right on the spot. You won't be disappointed ever with Nathan and company. Im a hard person to please, and Candy Art Hawaii is a grand slam.
