I just discovered this cute food trailer "Cafe Parkside" on Yelp as I was looking for restaurants in Kalihi. Not sure where it was located in Kalihi, but I was determined to find it. I was at Richies Drive inn when I remembered to check out this place. It was about a couple lanes or two further down North King Street heading west and sure enough you can spot the cute food trailer in the parking lot. Did you know the family built this wooden cafe on the trailer together?! The Kids helped built this with the direction of their father. They are parked near the street in the shared parking lot with the Pawn shop & Jackson Hewett Tax Servive. It's across the Kapalama Post office but before the old Pizza Hut location and I think after Palace Saimin You would only see the cafe on the trailer from Tuesday-Friday from 11am -5pm. There are some picnic benches and chairs under the canopy tent while you wait.In the beginning they started out in Waimanalo but for now they are here in Kalihi. They are known for their Steak and Shrimp plate and their two huge pieces of boneless fried chicken. They have some regular items and some specials of the day. Best to call ahead and place your order. The fried chicken would take the longest about 10 minutes wait time. They have some other items which sounded good like pot roast pork which is not offered all the time, hamburger steak. Kalbi, loco moco, bbq chicken, etc. On a hot day, shave ice and slushies and slushes floats would be refreshing. They have lemonade and orange aid slushies , but I got an orange aid slushie float with ice cream.I decided to get the fried chicken since I had some time to wait. it was huge as the photos posted and it was $12! It was hot and crispy in a seasoned flour battered. I couldn't wait to take a bite as I was driving, but I just tried part of the fried batter. It was seasoned so it was a little salty for me perhaps I just ate the batter part. The chicken gravy given was really good but having two humongous boneless chicken, I may need more gravy than the large portion cup given. Chicken tasted better after pouring some of the gravy over it. The gravy was yummy and not the brown gravy, but the light tan gravy! I'm looking forward to try more dishes like the rib eye steak, pot roast pork or some other specials. Please support this family own business! Daily specials are posted on their Instagram page @cafeparkside808. They were so nice and down to earth. I was grateful for their great & friendly service and they even offered to bring my order to my car since I wanted to wait in my car. They have some regular customers now but could use more customers since they are a new business. Prices were reasonable with generous portions. Still need to try more plates but I'll give them a rating of 4.5 stars rounded up!Thanks for reading my reviews =)

This review isn't based on their food. This review is based on their customer service but if I could give a 0 I would because I would never support a business that will do this to any human being. On Thursday, My 75 year old mother went to this shopping center that this food truck is located. She parked in her normal spot that she usually parks at, facing Kama lane. When she arrived, only very few cars were parked in the entire parking lot and no food truck yet. Upon returning to her vehicle she noticed the food truck in front of her car on the sidewalk area of kama lane and another vehicle blocking her car in with ignition off and no one in the car. My mom asked this man and others if they know who's car is parked behind her and if they could please move it. This man in the photo began to yell at my 75 year old mother "THIS IS MY PARKING! YOU CANT PARK HERE!!" My mother apologized and said she was unaware she can't park there and there's no signs whatsoever that she as a customer at that shopping center can't park there. The man continued to yell "NO YOU CANT LEAVE! YOU NEED TO STAY UNTIL THE POLICE COME!" My mom told this man okay and went back into her car and waited. No police showed up so she called the police about this man harassing her. After calling the police herself, the man signaled to my mom saying come here with his hands and said "I LIKE TALK TO YOU" he told my mom to get out of her car and talk to him at his food truck window. My mom refused and said "No, I'm not coming to talk to you again. We talked already. I'll come out when the police is here because I don't know what you will do to me." This man said "why you called the police?" My mom said "you said you called the police but they didn't come so I called." When the police arrived, they asked my mom what was happening. She explained what happened. HPD told this man that he needed to move his vehicle from behind my moms car. This parking lot is a public parking lot for the business in the center. SHAME ON YOU!!!! For treating an elder like this! I'm assuming this man is the business owner of this food truck and I hope that you learn some manners and not to treat an elder or anyone like this. You had no right to block my 75 year old mother in where she wasn't able to get out of the parking stall. My mother is an elderly woman, who was alone and has a medical condition. You frightened her enough that she didn't want to come talk to you afterwards and my mom is one tough cookie. When my mom got home that day, and told me about her encounter with this man. I was livid. I can't believe someone can treat an elderly woman like that. This man needs to take hospitality classes. Best believe that I'll make it known to anyone I know about the customer service and experience my mother went through here!!!!!

I enjoy finding new places to eat for lunch and I'm glad I found this cute little lunch wagon located right across the Kapalama post office in Kalihi. So I came here on two separate occasions at a little after 1pm. On my first visit I ordered the hawaiian chop steak which I really enjoyed. I'm glad I was able to try it at a discounted price during their Super Bowl special cause now I know I would definitely buy it again at their regular price. They use ribeye steak so it was really tender, not chewy and hard to swallow like the ones they serve at other fast food places. Not many places use ribeye for their chop steak. I love the flavors and the steak and veggies were cooked just right, not over cooked. On my second visit I knew I wanted to try their steak and shrimp plate. So I called in my order and the lady asked how I wanted my steak done so I said medium rare. I arrived in about 10 minutes and they had just finished packing it. When I opened my plate I was kind of disappointed cause the steak was more like well done. But again, they use ribeye so it wasn't too bad. It was a little dry but still easy to chew and swallow and the seasoning was just right. The garlic shrimp was flavorful, not overcooked, and I appreciate that it was already peeled, which is my personal preference. It comes with 6 good size pieces. Most places give 4 or 5 with a steak combo. So overall this plate was still decent enough. I would order it again but hope that next time the steak is cooked to my liking. I'm sure I'll have more visits here. I really want to try their pot roast pork, hamburger steak, and fried chicken! And FYI cash only. Very friendly staff!

First time trying this place. Have driven past this location before but they were either closed or not there. (it's on wheels)Steak and shrimp was tasty. Steak was a little tough. Pot Roast pork was really tender and ono. Chili franks was good. Could use more heat. Short ribs was pulehu-style. Perfect seasoning. Want to try the ribeye steak next time.
