My husband and I stayed at the cabana Waikiki for six days. We rented cabana 402 through Ali beach rentals. The whole process of check in and check out was smooth. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. It was a nice retreat after a day of snorkeling and horse back riding. The great: the bed and bedding. The bathroom and shower. The full sized fridge. The proximity to the beach, the zoo, diamond head. The good: the kitchen had the basics for preparing and eating a meal. Salt and pepper only so if you plan on cooking you may want to buy spices when you make your first trip to the grocery store. Response time to our issue when someone parked in our assigned parking spot. The cons: although you have the option to book at a premium an assigned parking spot it doesn't guarantee someone will not take your spot which can be a headache to deal with after a long day in the sun. The premises per our information was non smoking but the people next to us smoked on the balcony rendering our balcony not usable most of the time we wanted to use it. Bummer because we had a nice patio set up and it would have been nice to use. As a side note the same people smoking were the ones who parked in our assigned spot. I will not hold that against our rental company. There are homeless people everywhere in Waikiki and there was one living under a umbrella directly next to the gate. He kept to himself but I still didn't feel comfortable walking by myself to the abc store in the morning.Overall if we go to Oahu again we will rent through ali beach rentals if they have anything available but may choose to stay outside of the main Waikiki area since we ended up spending time in the more local parts of the island. If your looking to stay in a comfy condo near the beach and all the touristy part of Waikiki this place is a great value.

PERFECT location! Just a block off the beach for such a great price. My friends and I (4) people total stayed in a 1 bedroom but it was ample space for all of us to sleep. Liked that it was gated for security, was clean and provided towels and as well as beach towels and other beach things like wake boards and chairs, nice touch! Room also had a full kitchen with full sized fridge, sink, stove, small dining table and came with cooking utensils! Only reason it has 4 stars in stead of 5 is because there was no ocean view and I think the price could've been a tad bit lower, also some of our ride share drivers has trouble finding the location because it's on a one way street, however I can't complain that it was just a block away from the beach and all else Waikiki has to offer so that isn't a deal breaker. Definitely would stay here again!

Hard to believe that I'm the second reviewer after four years! The Cabana at Waikiki is a gem of a place. I'm told that all the units have been recently renovated. We had a suite which had a full kitchen, trundle bed in the front room and king size bed in the bedroom. The staff is very friendly, Miho, the general manager, being a real sweetheart. The suites are very clean, relatively quiet (there was some shouting from a nearby apartment building) and within easy walking distance of the Honolulu Zoo, Aquarium and many restaurants and retail shops. It's almost a stone's throw from Hula's, Honolulu's oldest gay bar. For the one bedroom suite, we paid $159 a night plus $10 for parking and an additional $5 for internet access. Compared to the large chain hotels like the Sheraton, this is a bargain. You could easily eat some meals in your room to reduce costs. I hope to stay here again when I visit Honolulu.

This is a fifteen-suite property catering to gay men and lesbians, although the latter are seen rarely. Located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki, adjacent to Kapiolani Park, it's a short walk to the appropriately-named Queen's Surf, the gay beach. The grounds are nicely landscaped and the one-bedroom suites well-appointed. Amenities include fully-equipped kitchenettes and entertainment centers with TV, VCR, and CD player. There's no pool, but a tropical verandah is equipped with an eight-person spa. Included in the rates are a complimentary Continental breakfast and theme cocktail hours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. For gym bunnies - and many of the guests here are - there's free access to Max's Gym, or those with 24-Hour Fitness membership will find a branch two blocks away. A comfortable resort with a decidely non-cruisey atmosphere. $139 low season, $155 high.

I almost don't want to write a review for this location because I had a great experience and don't want to share! lol... not to mention saved on money! I've been to Hawaii a bunch of times and all my previous times stayed at major hotel chains or our timeshare. Most recent was Hyatt- which of course is nice but for just a place to sleep around almost $400 (a night!)?! I'd much rather use that money for food and drinks! How can anyone not agree?!?I stayed here with some friends about 2 years ago - i can't believe I didn't write a review sooner! (only now that I am planning my trip back since I'm back in the dazed hunt with multiple internet tabs open btw kayak, expedia, airbnb etc. lookin for a good deal on places to stay! I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to traveling and do love the finer things (thanks mom & dad) however I also know the value of a dollar..The pros definitely outweigh the cons and I had a fabulous time! So with that, lemme break it down for u all...Cons: - the outside does not look like the Westin or four season or any other typical hotel/ timeshare. Throw that out the door right now.- there is unfortunately no elevator. This was my main struggle, just cuz we were on the 3/4th floor and as girls, of course overpacked! So we had to carry it ourselves :(-(tip) parking is limited so make sure u reserve it ahead of time! We did, but just sayin-no view from the small balcony, but it's not like we stood on ther all day everyday! (Sucha hoax with hotels, seriously- do u go to Hawaii just to look out a window if ur already so close to the beach?! Go outside for Pete's sake!)PROS!-staff we worked with for the rental were super awesome and easy to work with! I musts had a brain fart because my online submissions weren't working but Shelly was so helpful!- I asked if there was an iPod Dock in the room, they said no... But when we arrived they had placed one in!- rooms are so cute! Cute decorations, flat screen, full kitchen, stocked with utensils, towels etc. bathroom was a bit small compared to hotel ones, but worked!- secure gated parking underneath- literally a block from the beach!Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo!

Off the beaten path. This is a cute little place to stay off the main Waikiki strip. It's on an alley about 1.5 blocks from the beach. Ground floor is parking and check-in. Then it's a walk-up to the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor to your room. (I understand there are tentative plans to install an elevator, which would be excellent!) The rooms have been recently upgraded and are beautiful! Flat panel TV's in every room. All the amenities you would expect. Very quiet as well. No views from the rooms, but you can travel around town for that! The staff is kind and courteous, and eager to help you out with whatever you need.Overall, this is a cute place, and would most likely go back.

A great budget friendly place in Waikiki. We stayed at the Cabana for 3 nights during our recent Hawaii trip. We wanted some place that is in the heart of Waikiki, but not have to pay too much for amenities that we weren't planning on using anyway. We also wanted a place with a kitchen to save on some food cost instead of eating out every meal. Cabana At Waikiki is exactly what we were looking for. The only downside was the bed was uncomfortable for us. We were not sure if it was the unit that was slightly older and have not been recently renovated or if all units are like that. Since it was only for 3 nights, it was not a big deal. But longer than that, it could get uncomfortable. "A-OK" though for its value and if we were to go back to Waikiki and want to stay budget-conscious we would stay there again.

My 3rd time staying here in 10 years. The gayness of the place has gone to the wayside. No more mai thai's, no more jacuzzi....but a major plus for the rooms, price, staff and location. All very good. Just wish it was still gay.

Great location. Just a short walk to Waikiki beach and Honolulu Zoo and the ABC store around the corner. Super affordable. Cheaper than most of the hotels on Waikiki. We stayed at #202. I love the decor of the room. The room was clean the bed was comfy enough. There were enough clean towels and toilet paper for the 5 nights that we stayed. There was also beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs, and coolers to use for free so that was a perk. There were two TVs (one in the living room and one in the bed room). There is no pool at this property but seriously who comes to Hawaii to watch TV and use the pool? The ocean is right there! Some minor issues were that it can be a little noisy in the morning and at night but it's Waikiki so it was expected. Also, the check out time is 10:30am which I thought was a little too early but we managed. We also rented the parking stall for our rental car. It was $15 per day which is pretty cheap for Waikiki. Please note that a minimum 3 night rental of the parking stall is required. Booking the condo was extremely easy with Alii Beach Rentals and the people were friendly and helpful. Overall great experience and I would definitely consider renting again.

Stayed at Cabana at Waikiki in December 2015. The location is great close to bus service and convenience store. Also close to Kapiolani Park great view of Diamondhead crater and two blocks to beach. Area is safe, secure and quiet. The room is clean and spacious with a kitchen and balcony. Great help from Alii beach rental agents.
