"A Thursday afternoon and the place filled up quickly as the Pau Hana mode approached. Bloody Mary and tapped beer were all refreshing. Fish and Chips remains high on the must have list! Burger was an outstanding choice, big, thick and juicy. The Rueben also pleased my new guest. Glad to see a key business thriving once again! Service was very good and kudos to the very busy bartender!"
"We haven't been here in years!! Since we were around the area and was hungry, my wife wanted to eat at The Shack. Lunch time was surprisingly sparse with people. We seated ourselves, hoping someone saw us enter (they did). The waitress greeted us and was friendly. She started us with drinks. I looked around the restaurant, which looked kinda cramped with ALOT of tables and chairs kinda close together. I can only imagine when this place is packed with people. Thank God we ate at a slow time. For appetizer, we ordered the deep fried mozzarella (which was very ono). Wife ordered the pastrami rueben with tots. I had the turkey sandwich with fries. Waitress came with our food in about 20mins Which was acceptable. Food was cooked very well, and we were very pleased with this visit, and i thought The Shack was an underrated eating establishment."

"It's always a good time whenever I come here with family. The food here is amazing. The service is good, too. All the workers make sure you get the best experience here. I love the ambiance of this bar. I also love the open karaoke. Every time I come here, their songs of choice are always great and it really gets the vibe going. There's also a lot of good singers in this bar!"
"....every other spot was closed or their kitchen was and we were so desperate for food lol. Stumbled across this inconspicuous gem and loved it so much we've gone twice in one week! If you don't know it's there you may miss it because the door isn't on the street. There's clear doors that open to a foyer area and once you walk through that, then you arrive at the entrance to Rivals. It is visible from the street but it almost looks like a hotel entrance so unless you happen to look down the hall you may not notice it from the street. But if you're starving like we were, we were leaving no door unsearched lol. We were immediately greeted and seated which we were impressed with. I asked a server as I was walking to my seat, impatiently lol, "do you guys serve food???" She told me honestly yes but they were very busy and short staffed that night and it could take an hour or so to get our meals. Although that could've been viewed as horrible, under the minimum optioned circumstances we appreciated the honesty and decided to stay. We were pleasantly surprised that our server confirmed the potential wait very humbly but offered drinks and options that may be faster to help lessen the wait. We actually decided to just order what we wanted and accept the wait but the food came out rather quickly! We ordered the chili cheese fries & wings (not pictured due to how quickly we started eating and I forgot to take a pic lol!) and pizza. All verrrry tasty as well as reasonably priced! And hot!! Our server, known as "Angry Dave", was more than hospitable. He was very accommodating, friendly, and personable. We were pleased to see he was available to serve us when we went back for our second visit! This bar/restaurant will be frequented during our stay here. Absolute BB referral!"
"This place used to be a downstairs bar/ food establishment that we loved! We arrived today to find out it's now at Tequila bar downstairs with limited food, and that the same owner opened up a new place upstairs still called Tropics. I recommend going upstairs more food choices and also looks like a sports bar. The girl that served us was wonderful too."
"A huge NO from me and my ohana that came here after a Janet Jackson concert especially after we were pretty much ignored the entire night. We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt because it was busy but after seeing others being tended to that arrived after us, it was clear that she was picking and choosing who she wanted to serve.30 minute wait for a beer and other drinks...the hubby literally had to go up and remind her and the bartender basically dismissed him and would say she would have his drinks out soon. Never happened. Meanwhile, locals were getting served up immediately with no issue. Question: why was this female asian bartender who shall remain nameless ONLY attentive to us AFTER she saw that we were with the same group as a local female artist. She was suddenly full of apologies about us never getting our full meal order and not all of our drinks. SMH. Too late for apologies, sweetie! This review is 100% for you and only you.Zero aloha. Never again."

Spontaneous lunch date with my bff. We were driving around trying to decide where to eat and we drove past 8 Fat Fat 8 and saw that they're open at lunch so around the block we went. It's been YEARS since I've been there but it's just like I remember. Dimly lit hole in the wall dive bar. Perfect! It was super quiet, only 2 people sitting at the bar. We sat in a booth and looked over the menu. It was hard to choose but we decided on the salt and pepper pork chop and shoyu pork belly lunch specials AND their chicken skins and a side of stir-fried ong choy. The food came was all cooked fresh and came out hot. The lunch specials came out with a little side salad too.Easy parking, great food, good service. 100% going back again!

Trivia night. Thought it would be boring, but pleasantly surprised our server Roz was amazing it was busy but she made sure we were taken cared of in a timely fashion. We asked her if she was overwhelmed and was surprised to hear her say not at all I have great team mates we all help rather then have someone fall behind that's what we do. She said it so matter of fact. What a great night the Fish Tacos were amazing and hot not cold we will be back thank you Roz for a memorable evening.10 s to you Roz, see you sooner then later!!

We tried to go here for happy hour during Christmas time. It wasn't crowded. No one really greeted us. We basically chose a table and sat.No one attended to us. We scanned the QR code for a menu which I actually don't like. I prefer real menus. After no one came to our table for about 7 min we just got up and left.

You wouldn't know from the outside, but the food in here is fire! Both in taste and spice level. Considering myself to have a high spice tolerance after all my years in Indonesia, but even medium here was exceptional. We had the papaya salad, Thai style ( the option is also to have it Laos style which is without the fish sauce), and it was by far the spiciest. Loved it. For our mains we got a yummy green curry chicken which was perfectly level with all the spices, and loved loved loved the kaffir lime leaf bursts of flavour. The chicken was wonderfully tender. The pad Thai pork with was flavourful, where many places it can be bland. Definitely the favourite tonight. We also got the eggplant with beef. The eggplant was perfectly cooked and creamy, but the only thing that let it down was that the beef was a little tough.

I had a late lunch with Maris on a Thursday in mid-June, at Anyplace Lounge.Maris got so drunk the night before, at her friend Rian's birthday party at Little Joe's that she just had water to drink. I had a Diet "Coke" which didn't seem like it was an authentic Coca Cola product. It was noticeable to me, although I guess when people in the bar are getting drunk, they can't discern the difference. We went to Anyplace because Maris has been on this quest to find the old school place or dingy diner which has great food, most notably the best hamburger, French fries, and saimin on Oahu.Maris ordered a cheeseburger, French fries, and saimin. I ordered a hamburger and fried noodles. The food was pretty good and I would go back, although the fried noodles were not the best. The hamburger was served on sandwich bread instead of on a bun, which was pretty old school. Guess it keeps the cost down since regular sandwiches and burgers can be served on the same kind of bread. The fries were pretty good, fried crispy like Maris orders them.I think the place gets pretty busy during prime time; when we were leaving, a couple more mixed groups of 4 came in. Prior to that, it was only the regular strays at the bar.So far, we have been to Jane's Fountain, Liliha Bakery, Shiro's, Tanaka Saimin, Shige's Saimin Stand, and a couple other places. And still exploring. LMK if there are other places worth trying. Thanks.

"Authentic Thai with awesome flavor... Crispy rice dish Nam khao and green curry were yummy!"
"First of all congratulations on the new location! This is my OG of OG and gosh how cool and spacious is their new spot though on the flip side parking is now the biggest challenge. I totally love the vibe here as it's super huge in comparison of their smaller former space it's incredible how many tv's they also got as there will never be a fear of missing out no matter where you're sitting. As soon as you step in there's a white board filled with specials and the one that caught our eyes was the Laulau plate...yum! Their regular menu is filled with all things we love like Spam & Egg, Fried Noodles, Kal Bi, Lechon even Vienna sausage. We did order the Laulau plate along with Garlic Soybeans, Chicken Wings, and yup Saimin!Everything was super good and just how I like it feels like home and comfort foods. The staff here is just so friendly and constantly checking up on us and all the tv's was just a great disconnect to a forced conversation lol!Nice and spacious to brings groups of all sizes to enjoy whatever the occasion brings Anyplace is the the place to be!Thank you!"
"What a wonderful longtime venue. Owners and staff are 100% Performed here last night and had a marvelous time , dinner and a show !"
"Covid has disrupted the restaurant industry, but it hasn't stopped them from cooking to provide great food to the community through delivery and takeout! Eventually, we will get back to some new normal where there is no fear in dining. This was delivery 3 from uber eats from the hubs. He knows that Thai food is my number one favorite. It's probably because I mention it a lot lol. I didn't know what to expect since our tastes in food differ. I was excited to see that I was having it for dinner:) I eagerly ripped the plastic bag and dove right in. I wonder what he ordered for me? There was panang chicken curry, Tom yum seafood soup, fried chicken, and sticky rice. These are all food options that I wouldn't normally order. I have the fear of trying something different in Thai food lol. I usually stay with chicken Tom yum, yellow curry, pad see ew, and chicken basil. Those are my go to at most Thai eateries. The verdict is........the panang has been added to a must order! I believe they used peanut butter in the curry, and the hubs requested it to be very spicy for me:) It was thick, sweet and salty, nutty flavor, with tender chicken. I love how coconut milk makes the panang creamy and luscious. I added it onto my sticky rice. I highly recommend this one!!The Tom yum seafood soup was ok. I felt the fish was soft and meaty. The calamari fell out of place by being hard and rubbery. There was about 3 shrimps in the soup, and it was filled with mushroom, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, and the fish sauce was a little overwhelming. I felt I was doing a lot more digging, and removing than eating for this soup. The fried chicken was fine. The batter used for deep frying seemed basic. My first couple of bites was tough. I ended up dipping it in the sweet and sour sauce. Overall, it was a great dinner choice for delivery!!! Thank you hubby!!! I will definitely be ordering the panang again! Step out of your comfort zone and try new things! If you don't like it at least you know you tried! Support local:)"
"Food was awesome! Kinda dark at first when we walked in... the 1st place we sat... brrr!! Then moved table... perfect!"
"First impressions are modern, welcoming and authentic. Imagine local island atmosphere turned up a notch, fully renovated & impressively clean interior with professional and attentive staff. Ordered a vanilla crown + coke, perfectly crafted & loco moco for dinner. The portion was enormous, $16 for two eggs, 3-4 scoops of rice (estimate) & a 1/2 lb hamburger patty (confirmed) - perfectly cooked with char & drowning in brown gravy. Guaranteed to please, this is everything you're looking for in a loco moco. I would highly recommend this location to locals & visitors alike looking for an enjoyable, high quality local bar experience with delicious & reasonably priced food/beverage(s).+During football season they are open for breakfast, catch your favorite teams playing on their tv's!!"
