"Diving has been a passion of mine for more than 40 years, so when I feel compelled to write a review, this means I was impressed. I am happy to report that Hawaii Eco Divers earns my respect as the best dive outfit we have experienced in Honolulu. The review starts with the staff and crew, because they were responsive to my concerns about not being able to easily find the address of the boat for the morning dive. I got a call back before work hours and the crew made sure to help us to navigate the fastest way. Next is our Dive Master Sean! He is an excellent diver and his customer service skills are top notch. He was able to help our daughter equalize and took the time to make sure she could clear on the first dive. It took an extra 5 minutes, but his patience and perseverance paid off. He was careful about the deco stop on the ascent and I appreciate the underwater videos that he sent us when the gig was over! The boat is well kept, clean and in apparent compliance for diving and tours like this. You won't regret this booking!"
"Had an awesome Dive with Devin on 12/29. He was very knowledge, chill and made the whole experience enjoyable. We saw sharks, turtles, octopus, eels and lots of other marine life. I highly recommend diving with Devin and Banzai Divers"
"Amazing dives with this crew! We dove the Sea Tiger wreck and Horseshoe Reef. We were in O'ahu for the Labor Day weekend to visit a family member. By the time I could schedule a dive most of the shops were booked. Through the Ruckus website I saw availability for Sunday so I booked with them. The same day I booked, Ray from Ruckus calls me and said that there were wasn't availability on Sunday due to a mix up of multiple sites. But, he immediately asked how long our visit would be to accommodate a different time. He scheduled us in for Saturday afternoon. I didn't expect to see as many diurnal creatures was we did. We saw white tip sharks, eels, a manta ray and best of all a 6 foot sleeping sea turtle! I am still new at diving and I get anxious but thankfully Matt was above and beyond patient. After the dives they even asked if we wanted to go out again the next day. If we didn't have preset plans we would have for sure. We will book with this crew every time we visit."
"This was my first time in Hawaii and my first time diving in an ocean. I got certified 3 weeks ago in Texas and took my test in a lake. I couldn't be happier to take my first ocean dive in Hawaii and with this place. They were so helpful, and all so nice. I can't wait to return and dive deeper on the next one."
"Mike and the staff at Underwater Oahu are the best. He strikes the perfect balance of maintaining an "island chill" vibe while running an elite diving operation with safety at top of mind. I was nervous because it was my 11 and 13 yo daughters first post certification dive. Mike showed up with an escort diver that was great with kids and also a marine biologist. Are you kidding me? We had two great dives that kicked off my kids' diving career great. The rental equipment selection was a breeze. The normal challenges of any dive trip were handled with grace. We got in the water with a strong current but there were ropes on the surface to go down easily, and Mike navigated the group at the bottom expertly. Then there were the awesome turtles, octopus, eels, swim through rock formations, etc. It was an all around perfect diving experience. We'll be back."
"We did a family trip this last Sunday. One 10 year old snorkler, my niece who did the discover scuba course, my husband who dove and myself who just rode along to enjoy the sights. I got to chatting with the Captain and can you believe it, he's also a biologist! So we nerded out on the marine life and it just added so much to our experience. Thank you Capt. Chris. The boat was immaculate as well as the gear. It was a very smooth ride even for me with two herniated disks. I just couldn't have asked for more."
"SCUBA diving with Erik was a blast! Oahu Diving was highly recommended to me by a family member who had recently visited Honolulu and dove with him. I scheduled a dive tour for my boyfriend's birthday and our experience with them from start to finish was 5 stars! To SCUBA dive, you obviously need to know how to swim. There are also a few other requirements that must be met to participate and they're all laid out on their website. You also fill out a health questionnaire to ensure you're fit to dive. This experience is cash only, so be prepared to have your payment with you the day of your dive. The tours are semiprivate, with only 4 of us in our group, but others were on the boat and diving separately. We signed up for the "first time SCUBA diving tour." I have (limited) experience SCUBA diving in the past from a college course I took several years ago, but this was all new to my boyfriend who has never done this before. Erik did a great job giving our group the 411 on everything we'd need to know for our two dives together and making everyone feel comfortable. We went over things like how to use the equipment, the valsalva maneuver, and important hand signals several times before getting on the boat. We also did a few practice rounds of mask clearing on the boat before we jumped into the water. Safety first! I'll be honest, all morning leading up to our dive, I was a little anxious because I didn't remember much about diving from my college years (shocker lol) but after Erik taught us what we'd need to know and once I got into the water, it all came back to me and was not stressful at all, just fun! I think I speak for everyone when I say we all had a great time! We went on 2 different dives and saw a variety of different fish, eels, corals, and other sea creatures but the highlight was definitely getting to swim next to the giant green sea turtles. They were so much bigger than I expected! Truly beautiful animals. The first dive was shorter and more of a chance for us to just get used to the tanks and being under water with the SCUBA gear on. The second dive was longer, and all about exploring. Erik took GoPro photos of us during the dives and emailed them to us. They came out great! I would wholeheartedly recommend Oahu Diving to anyone looking to SCUBA, especially non-certified or first-time divers. Erik makes it fun, easy, and well worth the cost! I hope to be certified by the time I'm on Oahu again, but I'm definitely going to try and do another dive with them in the future!"
"Fantastic!! Amazing dive masters, great equipment, good views, super reasonable price. Highly recommend this place."
"Visited Hawaii for the purpose of getting my PADI certificate. Took the o line PADI course prior to traveling and did the diving portion of it with Aloha Scuba. Libbie,, our instructor, was over the moon. She was extremely knowledgeable about diving and has clearly dedicated her life to it! She was friendly and made what can be a stressful situation very calm and relaxing. She was great, not only with me, but the other students as well, both in and out of the water! Justin, you have a real winner there, if you're smart, you'll clone her! Will definitely come dive with you guys again. On our dives we saw many turtles, an octopus, a Morey Eel and a couple white tip reef sharks. Mahalo!"
"Great dives! Friendly instructors, great instruction. I have not dove for years and this was a great refresher. Equipment worked great. I would highly recommend!!"

Our family group of 6 did our PADI Open Water Diver classes while on vacation on Oahu this week. Julian, Ethan, & Adam were super helpful and made learning/practicing the skills fun. Well organized group. The service was excellent and the gear was in great condition. They provided all the gear for the dives. First day was a shore dive at Electric Beach. The other two days we did boat dives from Honolulu. Highly recommend the boat dives if you can work that in. Less hiking with gear, and easy entry/exit without dealing with the surf.

I've been diving with Banzai Divers for the past year and they are wonderful! They create a stress free, fun environment and are great with divers of any level. Devin, Adam and Aaron are excellent dive masters that always find the coolest ocean life for us to interact with, like octopi and spanish dancers. I've been on dives on almost all sides of the island with them, and there is always something new to discover. I would highly recommend booking with Banzai Divers for your next dive in Hawaii!

Got certified (OW & AOW/Nitrox) with Kaimana and did most of my first 50-ish dives with them. DMs are all solid (shout out to Greg and Avalon), Gabe is always super quick to respond when trying to get a last minute dive in, and captain Terry is always a pleasure. Probably the best value dive shop on island. If you're a club member it's ~$100 with gear vs ~$150 for club members with most other shops.

They were super flexible to work with us and scheduled a snorkel for our kids at the same location we were able to dive. The kids loved it and we got to a great dive and super easy logistics. Really appreciated their flexibility to work with us. Both the snorkel and the dive were private so we could maximize our time without having to leave the kids behind!

Best crew! Best ambiance and activity imaginable. Michael and his staff treat you like family from the minute you step on the boat. The water was beautiful,. The wildlife was in abundance and the entire ride was magnificent. We were not aware of the IV Therapy but are coming back to experience that as well as those that were taking part were relaxed and happy!Thank you for an amazing day. Can't wait to come back!

My friend and I had a great experience scuba diving for the first time under the guidance of Erik and his assistant (apologies forgot her name but remembered she was an instructor in Monterey)! I felt safe, informed, and supervised the whole time despite the host of nerves I had going into the activity (anxious excitement!). We got instructions on land and on the boat. Erik also took great underwater pictures which were included in the package. Among the two of us we got a total of 40+ photos (note the group size later on) and met 5+ sea turtles who were resting on the floor or swimming in circles. There were also many other color fish, sea urchin and eels. The entire trip lasted about three hours and we had two dives (~40 min each) in similar areas although I was told the latter was a couple feet deeper. It was a group of 8 people and frankly maybe 6 made it below the surface and 5 to the sea floor (30 feet down). By the second dive, only 4 of us were still strolling. Erik was very sensitive to everyone's fears and at one point escorted a diver up while his assistant stayed with the group. This isn't for everyone but thankfully I'm a strong swimmer (although I had only snorkeled once before and that was earlier in the day) and felt comfortable to keep going. I had a blast though! Scuba diving at turtle canyon was 10x better than the snorkel catamaran we did in the same area later on.Note all the equipment was provided but some people opted not to wear wet suits. I personally felt more comfortable though with a full body suit and didn't feel too hot in August. Make sure to call and book over the phone as they need a credit card to hold the reservation. We got email and text confirmations. Pay in cash.

My favorite dive shop! Had such an awesome experience here. I saw so many turtles, and some of the other divers on the boat got to see a manta ray too! The boat had plenty of snacks and water as well. An absolutely wonderful day of diving, can't recommend them enough!

"Dive Oahu &Surf has been carrying the torch for the legendary Koa Beach Services since 2019 when they shuttered. They offer all the same great activities like body boards, kayaks, paddle boards, floats, and of course lounge chairs and umbrellas. I find the prices reasonable considering where they're at, plus military gets a substantial discount. They even offer multi day pricing which is a real bargain. The staff is pretty friendly and Manager Mike is very customer focused and attentive. Only opportunity is to be a little more proactive on cracking down on poaching. Nothing worse that paying for a chair/ umbrella setup only to have some poorly behaved freeloaders plop down right next to you and never pay a cent! Overall, if you're looking to carve out a comfortable spot and chill on Waikiki beach, then you must make this your first stop. Open daily 9-5pm. Online reservations also available."
"Over the top the best Scuba experience in Oahu. I'm PADI certified, my son was not. Greg (Instructor) and Dan (Boat Driver) were very gracious and patient. Greg gave instructions for an intro dive with a fresh and funny approach, that let you know that he really loves his work. Have fun, but be safe was the order of the day.We motored out to a shelf a few miles offshore, geared up and dove in. Lot's of fun. Greg was an excellent guide and instructor, carefully balancing out peoples buoyancy with them even knowing he was adjusting their BC. He's a real pro with a great attitude and approach to the sport. Highly recommenced."
"Kapolei Aquatic Center is newly opened and offers a whole lot! A division of American Renaissance Academy, Kapolei Aquatic Center is more than a dive shop. Don't get me wrong, they have tons of dive gear and will help you find the right gear for what you do and will help you get the right fit, but they also have a huge retail space. It's not crowded and it's easy to see everything. It makes it super comfortable and easy to take your time. They also offer swimming lessons for the super young through adult. And if you want to take a dive class, they offer both technical and recreational classes. The pool is on site too. The parking lot is huge. GPS takes you to the wrong side of the building, so take the road down to Midway and turn from that side. Enter in the first entryway-the others are blocked off."
"My son and I found this business via a Google search. My son chose the shallow reef dive excursion. The scuba diving guide was very courteous and professional. My son had fantastic time as he saw numerous marine life where handling an octopus and sighting a turtle were the highlights. I highly recommend this company."
"Kewalo Basin Harbor is between Ala Moana Beach Park and Kaka'ako Waterfront Park. There is a bike way, a walkway and a drive through. You'd drive only if you have business with the Harbor Master mainly because parking is limited. This is what you would get:1) panoramic ocean view, east to Head and west in some spots past the Airport.2) Bikeway and Walkway available with restroom facilities and a shower area for the ocean goers3) You get to see all the water adventurers as their boats are moored thereI can't address the Pre or Post CoViD items as I've not visited Kewalo Basin Harbor enough to make an opinion. I can only say that if i were hanging around and wanted a place to "hang out", enjoy the sun and the sea, read a book, surfer watch, eat a snack, and so forth... this is the place to be"
"Great dive operation. From Kevin racing down to the boat from the store with the right forms to Erin taking care of our changes in advance and then leading the experienced divers to Michael recertifying one of our group and Captain Rick regaling us with stories and ably navigating the boat, our dive trip was great. A dive operation is all about its people and Aloha has great people! (I have 85 dives logged on 3 continents so this is a qualified opinion). I was especially impressed with how they didn't cut corners on documentation or reactivating but instead went the extra yard to make sure that we had the right paperwork and that the one on one instruction was thorough and complete. I highly recommend them for recerts/certification or just a nice dive trip out of Honolulu/Waikiki. Thanks to the whole Aloha team for providing such a great dive trip."
"Ed is wonderful to work with. He is generous and thoughtful. Before I buy, he gives great insight in to the product that is best suited for my needs. He goes as far as to allow me to try some of the products with him before I made a purchase. I've gotten quiet a few things from him. A shearwater teric, dive bags, deep 6 regs, and a variety of xdeep BCDs. I'm happy to work with ed in my diving and gear needs. Highly recommended."
"This is our second time using South Pacific Water Sports. When you get their ask for the Special! It is also featured in their brochure where you get 3 activities for $99 + tax If you book online at https://www.southpacifichawaii.com it's only $89 + tax. This is a best deal in town. My son is 17 so we spent the entire day on the water. The skipper for bumper tubing was awesome and my son had an amazing time bumper boating and tubing.I was up next for Jet Skiing and I was able to hit maximum speed on the jet skis. I love to jet ski! I stay in Hawaii Kai when I visit Oahu so there are no issues with transportation getting to and from the Marina. If you are visiting, I recommended a car rental. There is plenty of free parking at the Marina. If you have to wait there are plenty of shops, Coconuts Shave Ice and Leonard's Malasadas at Koko marina.I highly recommend this place and plan on coming back again next year!"
"It has been way too long since I've been scuba diving and I wasn't sure if my gear was still good. Luckily someone referred me to Aqua Zone. They have a 2 hour pool class/refresher session which they hold in the Waikiki Beach Marriott pool. I called Aqua Zone and explained my situation and they added me to a class that week. Our instructor, Tyler, was awesome. He reviewed the essentials to diving and the plan for our pool time and then it was time to hop in. He helped me check out my gear and made recommendations for what needed to be replaced. Overall I couldn't be more thankful. If you are looking for a dive shop to learn to dive, take a refresher, buy gear, or book a boat dive, go to Aqua Zone."
"I enrolled in Discover Scuba because I'm a newbie and my friend is an advanced diver and went on two of their dives.Discover Scuba is a good program, but if you have no prior diving experience it's not for the faint of heart. You'll be required to demonstrate the five basic scuba skills while bobbing in the ocean. If you haven't had prior dive experience -- like me -- it's a lot to expect of yourself. My perspective going into this was that I'd do my best and not get mad at myself if I couldn't do it all.Being the furthest thing from a Navy Seal or similar, I believed I was unprepared to dive. I was surprised/relieved to see ex-military in our group having difficulty with their first dive experience. I add this not as a criticism of them or anyone else, but to help level set the conversation some people have in their heads that invalidate themselves. Machismo has nothing to do with successfully passing the dive tests. You'll pass the tests in the water when you become comfortable with the routine dive actions. As it turns out, I didn't do it all. I couldn't continue with the group, but I was happy to hang out in the water around the boat. From the surface, I could still see fish and sea turtles. I was very happy with my experience and even happier I didn't push myself into a situation that could have ended dangerously. In the end, I'm better prepared for another diving adventure."
"Aaron and the crew made our family's dive a memorable one to say the least.I've been on many dive tours in hawaii and this one by far was the most professional and personable. The boat, the Cordelia, is a fantastic dive boat that looks like a converted yacht. They have all the amenities of boating a luxury vessel while keeping it a great value. They even provided light snacks and refreshments however since I'm a weak stomach person I couldn't partake. They took us out of the harbor, to diamond head where we spotted some awesome scenery and turtles. Sadly it wasn't whale season so we didn't see them but we did snorkel on some amazing spots where the entire crew was knowledgeable about hawaii sea life and its history. Will definitely come back when on oahu and hopefully see whales!"
"I should have my son give the review but fact is, my 18 year old LOVED LOVED LOVED his experience. He now has the bug to go again for a longer dive!Kyle, his instructor, was professional and clear and made all the difference. Gave clear directions and then off they went. Little by little they went farther then all of a sudden, they were diving. It was so cool to watch. It was a great introduction to scuba diving! (Oh, and the GoPro videos are SOOOO cool.)"
"So this is probably my second time coming here and it was like not good. The lady that helped us was very rude. She gave alot of attitude. It just seemed like she didnt want us to rent the kayaks. But of course, nothing stopped us from renting it out lol the only reason why we rent from them is because its pretty cheap for a kayak. $25 all day. That's a good fricken deal to me. The kayaks comes with the seat cushions, life vest, and paddles. So your pretty much set to go. I would say id still recommend this place to rent for any sport activity if your military. Its cheap and i think only that lady is rude because the other people is nice."
"Wow, what an experience! This was my first dive, and I'm so happy I chose Rainbow Scuba!Ken was amazing and incredibly accommodating. We had 2 first timers, 1 certified, and 1 who had gone through the training but did not complete certification, so a rather diverse group. Ken made sure all of us were able to have a fun, safe adventure. It was also reasonably priced. The weather was pretty sketchy, but once we were down beneath, it was great! My husband did a 120' dive down in the Sea Tiger, and the rest of us did the Kewalo pipe. Sea turtle and eel sightings. We will be diving with Ken again should the opportunity to return to Oahu present itself."
