"As I started writing this review, I realized that all of the 3 photos I've posted so far are of the avocado burger, so I wonder if you can guess my go-to order here? LOL I do also get fries every time but for some reason never took photos of those.Burgers can be ordered 1/2 or 1/3 pound and by default come with a kaiser roll, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. But you could also get wheat or rye bread. The burgers are delicious, although you need to be able to handle messy burgers that are taller than they are wide. I recommend ordering to go even if you dine in, because then your burger comes wrapped in foil which is convenient for keeping your hands dry while eating! There are also paper towel rolls at every table and a bathroom around back to wash your hands though.The fries are shoestring fries, which are tasty and not so common, so they're nice to get.I've also tried the grilled fish sandwich (very good) and pastrami sandwich (not bad). The fish available will usually be ahi, but mahi and ono are also possibilities according to the menu.There are lots of inside tables and some outside tables. It's pretty cold inside so I opt for outside when available.Finally, parking: there's a handful of stalls in the front and more in a small lot in the back."

She had been very mindful of the rest of the floor, but there was a moment where I noticed she was showing malama to a man that came by himself and in his elder years. There were only 5 pieces of pork and maybe 7 pieces of chicken. Very overpriced. Pork was still good but 2 of the pieces were burnt not just a little but the kind that's inedible. The entire box was filled with rice that came out of a cooler and it was hard. Won't be coming back again. I'll try the original location next time again."

I only went with a smoothie because nothing makes me want a breakfast sammie like seeing it in a case for reheating which is the case here... no freshly made eggs, fyi. Smoothie options are limited but the spinach, kale coconut one was good. They also have coffee.Steps from the beach and next to a few hotels, so convenient. Staff was friendly and efficient. Inside doesn't scream vacation vibes. For a quick and convenient smoothie it works."

It's not often I drive to Waianae but it is a very scenic drive there on clear days. We were fortunate it was a clear day when we journeyed there to finally try Countryside Cafe. When we arrived, the place was pretty busy but we were able to be seated right away. They have a private parking lot and offer indoor or outdoor seating options. Due to how the restaurant is situated, you can't really see the ocean while dining but it's located across the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean. We opted to sit inside as it was cooler with the AC. Menus came first and the staff member asked if we wanted anything aside from water to drink. We ordered coffee and it took a few minutes but we got a hot cup of coffee. The coffee was watered down which was a huge disappointment. When our server finally came to take our order, we ordered the Countryside Steak and Walk through the Country. I had my Countryside Steak with potatoes and eggs over easy. It took the kitchen about 20 or so minutes to get our order out. Kinda long considering all the tables had their food orders already. Despite all that, the food was quite good! It came out as ordered. Definitely worth the journey for a nice breakfast and scenic drive. Portions were just right and the country fried steak hit a craving I've had for months. After eating, we sat there for a while waiting for the check but I suppose you walk up to the register to pay. Customer service was almost nonexistent and we had to ask for a coffee refill. The larger parties around us received more attention so that was a little disappointing. It was still nice to finally cross off this bookmark on my list.

Used to come here all the time for Banh mi cravings. Haven't been back in probably over 6 months. Called in my order since I remember it usually takes longer to prepare. Estimated 20 minutes and was ready when I arrived. We decided to eat there since we were starving! We got our usual favorite - the Vietnamese Banh Mi which is now $11.99. I remember it tasting much more flavorful before, but this time it was a little blander. Maybe they changed the pate recipe? I hope they change it back to the OG Recipe...The Banh mi was packed with veggies which I loved. Crispy exterior without cutting your mouth. Owners are always nice and courteous to us. Con is parking is limited and no AC inside so best to do takeout. Nice to still support local family businesses like this one!

Just the feel of the place when you walk in is so welcoming! We finally made it for breakfast and will be going back soon because I NEEED to try the Chantilly pancakes. I didn't notice it until after I ordered... should have just order it but that's ok...next time ....haha. I think I was distracted a little cause Kapena was the next table over and of course hes so respectful said aloha as he was leaving. Good food...plenty parking and extra on the aloha. Love it

"I woke up this morning craving a good sandwich. Trolled Yelp for the best sandwich shop on the island. After much searching, I found this hidden Gem. I decided to order the Mixed Avocado $12.42. The sandwich came with a bag of chips that went well with the Sandwich. The sandwich was made with care and thought. Everything was paired perfectly. I mean the shredded carrots and cabbage provided the sweetness to the salted ham and bacon. I also ordered the Bacon Salami $12.42, but this time opted to pair this sandwich with the organic side salad. The salad was complimented with a balsamic vinegar dressing. The sandwich is served on a French roll. The sandwich was served warm seeing the mozzarella needed to be melted. This would be my go to when on a run. The establishment decor provides a warm place to study, read or just to escape the town hustle and bustle. Establishment is rather large place that has two areas to sit and enjoy. Bottom floor can host 14 people and their upstairs can host another 20 people. They have soft jazz music in the background that topped everything off. This place isn't just a sandwich shop, it also serves a rather large selection of caffeine and teas (I'll be back to review). After a few hours at Kailua Beach, we decided to stop here for lunch. Teddy's is in a little strip mall area attached to a parking lot. There's seating inside the restaurant and outside in front of the restaurant under umbrellas. I like the decoration inside! A very bright color scheme (red, blue, yellow), vintage, and reminiscent of diners from the 50s. To match their no fuss menu of burgers, fries and shakes. Staff greeted us when we entered. The inside was clean and we'll maintained. Workers were preparing food diligently. I got the Double Burger, medium. It's two of the 1/3lb 100% ground chuck steer proprietary grind patties with gourmet burger seasoning. On a potato bun, with green leaf lettuce, laussen dill pickles, thinly shaven white sweet onion, ripe tomatoes, homemade special sauce, homemade Teri sauce, and capped with another potato bun. It's flame broiled with beautiful charred lines across the patty. Absolute delicious, juicy, and flavorful! I ate this like a steak XD with a fork a knife. I wanted to avoid the mess, for it's a tall burger.I also got the Bacon & Cheese Fries. These fries have the crispy skin still on. They're smothered with a creamy nacho cheese sauce and topped with bacon. Very tasty, hot and the toppings were plentiful! The bacon and cheese make a good match. This was a big portion of fries, so I shared them with my friend and her husband. There was still a lot left over, so I ended up taking the rest home. I don't like to be wasteful! I also got the Hand Scooped Shakes in the Mini size and the Haupia flavor. It was super rich and creamy. The haupia flavor was just right. Not too overwhelming, not too sweet. Recommended! They have a small sandwich shop in the back, a coffee station in front (serving Hawaiian coffee, of course) and convenience store items up front. I like that they carry locally made goods as well. This visit, I picked up red Hawaiian Volcanic Salt, which is hard to find. Prices were reasonable. The market is close to the beach, making it a perfect spot to grab lunch. However, looking at the ambiance and observing the workers, I had a better experience. The cafe had indoor and outdoor seating. Macaroons and other pasteries on display and bread/lavosh on sale next to the register. They had the special drinks posted above the bread and on the counter. I like to ask the staff what their recommendations are since they probably tasted the product. I also let them know my preference as well. I appreciate their honesty.I ordered the chicken pesto panini. The panini filling wasn't as much as I thought it would be, but it was still tasty. I also wanted to try the eggplant parmesan panini. While the pizzas are ok, the garlic knots are to die for. They top it with tons of fresh garlic and mozzarella cheese. They're crispy and chewy, but you have to eat them hot or it's an oily mess. The marinara sauce was watery and bland. I'm not sure if I would get that again."

This restaurant has been on our radar for a long time due to referrals from friends & high Yelp ratings, but we were hesitant to walk around this sketchy part of Chinatown. Lol, we've been here 3 times over the past month & still counting! Really impressed by this amazing clean, & bright Vietnamese restaurant!Owned/operated by the Nguyen family for the past 21 years, Cuu Long II has always been at the corner of River & Hotel Sts. Joey Nguyen's parents, who emigrated from Vietnam, started the business, & Joey, who speaks perfect English, took over the business in 2007; he also became the main chef & was passionate in perfecting his broths. In 2017, Joey & his CFO/co-owner wife, Rita, made major changes to the restaurant involving its financial structure, interior design, staff training, marketing, division of tasks among staff, & placing priority on customer service. Cuu Long means "9 dragons" in Vietnamese & refers to the Mekong River, which is also known as the River of 9 Dragons.Note that there is another Cuu Long Restaurant (w/out the II in its name) in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center in Aiea that is operated by Joey's cousin. The menus & prices differ significantly at both restaurants. "First time eating here! The Korean fried chicken here is Delicious! We ordered the Honey Garlic Boneless Chicken bowl and the Secret sauced Chicken sandwich with fries and drink combo. The Honey garlic chicken was sweet and savory. The bowl was filled with white rice, sprinkled with furikake, two slices of takuan (pickled daikon) and three pieces (or more if pieces are small in size) of honey garlic chicken. This is filling and a great deal for $8.99!The secret sauce chicken sandwich comes nestled in a soft and delicious warm bun, a generous amount of coleslaw and sauce. I don't recall the price and unfortunately the picture I took, cuts off the price. Just try it! The combo meal includes French fries (you can upgrade the fries if you want a fancier flavor for $$) and a drink for an additional $3.00. The perfectly seasoned chicken sandwich was awesome! Light and crispy outside, moist inside. The coleslaw and not too spicy sauce made the perfect and delicious sandwich. One of the best chicken sandwiches I have had to date! Yes, I was hungry after a great morning walk (over 10,000 steps : ). The sandwich is so big that I took home half the sandwich! We shared the hot and yummy fries. Drinks are refillable here!No indoor bathroom. Please request the code for the outside bathroom before you go. The restaurant was spacious with indoor and outdoor seating available. "I was dying for a deli sandwich and this cured the craving big time. The other location ran out of bread when we got there, so we made our way to the Kalihi location. I HIGHLY recommend this one just for the available parking spots. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered 4 sandwiches (Roast beef, Italian, ham & turkey, and the Machete) and it all came out correct and delicious. We added spicy peppers to all of them which gave it a good amount of acidity in every bite. The Kalihi location also has seating!!"
