Açaí bowl and the turkey pesto sandwich (sub with croissant) was the perfect fix we needed to start the day. The açaí had the perfect consistency, creamy, smooth, and thick! Topped with fresh fruit too, you can't go wrong. Small quaint shop but they have outdoor seating which is nice.Highly recommend and have already told so many friends to come check it out when they visit the island."

Janelle O. "As I started writing this review, I realized that all of the 3 photos I've posted so far are of the avocado burger, so I wonder if you can guess my go-to order here? LOL I do also get fries every time but for some reason never took photos of those.Burgers can be ordered 1/2 or 1/3 pound and by default come with a kaiser roll, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. But you could also get wheat or rye bread. The burgers are delicious, although you need to be able to handle messy burgers that are taller than they are wide. I recommend ordering to go even if you dine in, because then your burger comes wrapped in foil which is convenient for keeping your hands dry while eating! There are also paper towel rolls at every table and a bathroom around back to wash your hands though. The fries are shoestring fries, which are tasty and not so common, so they're nice to get.I've also tried the grilled fish sandwich (very good) and pastrami sandwich (not bad). The fish available will usually be ahi, but mahi and ono are also possibilities according to the menu. There are lots of inside tables and some outside tables. It's pretty cold inside so I opt for outside when available. Finally, parking: there's a handful of stalls in the front and more in a small lot in the back."

She had been very mindful of the rest of the floor, but there was a moment where I noticed she was showing malama to a man that came by himself and in his elder years. It might seem minor to some but for our kanaka and our culture to still thrive and express in the "capitalist" mentality we are in. It was such a good feeling. Mahalo. Mahalo. Mahalo!!!"

There were only 5 pieces of pork and maybe 7 pieces of chicken. Very overpriced. Pork was still good but 2 of the pieces were burnt not just a little but the kind that's inedible. John A. "I woke up this morning craving a good sandwich. Trolled Yelp for the best sandwich shop on the island. After much searching, I found this hidden Gem. I decided to order the Mixed Avocado $12.42. The sandwich came with a bag of chips that went well with the Sandwich. The sandwich was made with care and thought. Everything was paired perfectly. I mean the shredded carrots and cabbage provided the sweetness to the salted ham and bacon. I also ordered the Bacon Salami $12.42, but this time opted to pair this sandwich with the organic side salad. The salad was complimented with a balsamic vinegar dressing. The sandwich is served on a French roll. The sandwich was served warm seeing the mozzarella needed to be melted. This would be my go to when on a run. The establishment decor provides a warm place to study, read or just to escape the town hustle and bustle. Establishment is rather large place that has two areas to sit and enjoy. Bottom floor can host 14 people and their upstairs can host another 20 people. They have soft jazz music in the background that topped everything off. This place isn't just a sandwich shop, it also serves a rather large selection of caffeine and teas (I'll be back to review). In closing: Whether you're in search for some coffee or a quick bite, I recommend you try Spera Spera if you are in the Honolulu town area. Until next time, eat till your heart is content."

★★★☆☆ 3.3 (653) • $$

Michelle R. "I've had Teddy's Bigger Burgers in the past, but this was my first time at the Kailua location. There are quite a few locations including in Aiea, Hawaii Kai, Haleiwa, Kaneohe, Waikiki, and University. You can also order online through their website, https://www.teddysbb.com/ and they also have a mobile rewards app. The restaurant was founded in 1998. Here's their origin story, "Teddy's Bigger Burgers got its start in the backyard cookouts of owners Ted & Rich. The two loved good burgers but couldn't understand why there weren't any fast food restaurants that offered the quality of their home cooked burgers in a quick service environment."My friend and her husband were visiting from Portland, Oregon. After a few hours at Kailua Beach, we decided to stop here for lunch. Teddy's is in a little strip mall area attached to a parking lot. There's seating inside the restaurant and outside in front of the restaurant under umbrellas. I like the decoration inside! A very bright color scheme (red, blue, yellow), vintage, and reminiscent of diners from the 50s. To match their no fuss menu of burgers, fries and shakes. Staff greeted us when we entered. The inside was clean and we'll maintained. Workers were preparing food diligently. I got the Double Burger, medium. It's two of the 1/3lb 100% ground chuck steer proprietary grind patties with gourmet burger seasoning. On a potato bun, with green leaf lettuce, laussen dill pickles, thinly shaven white sweet onion, ripe tomatoes, homemade special sauce, homemade Teri sauce, and capped with another potato bun. It's flame broiled with beautiful charred lines across the patty. Absolute delicious, juicy, and flavorful! I ate this like a steak XD with a fork a knife. I wanted to avoid the mess, for it's a tall burger.I also got the Bacon & Cheese Fries. These fries have the crispy skin still on. They're smothered with a creamy nacho cheese sauce and topped with bacon. Very tasty, hot and the toppings were plentiful! The bacon and cheese make a good match. This was a big portion of fries, so I shared them with my friend and her husband. There was still a lot left over, so I ended up taking the rest home. I don't like to be wasteful! I also got the Hand Scooped Shakes in the Mini size and the Haupia flavor. It was super rich and creamy. The haupia flavor was just right. Not too overwhelming, not too sweet. Recommended! I also got a spoon to eat the ice cream part before it melted. They have quite a few flavors for these shakes including vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, Kona coffee, chocolate peanut butter, strawberry. Nutella, orange dreamsicle, pineapple and root beer.Overall it was an awesome meal. Highly recommended! (:"

Jo Y. "We finally visited Cuu Long II in Chinatown for its super delicious Vietnamese cuisine! This restaurant has been on our radar for a long time due to referrals from friends & high Yelp ratings, but we were hesitant to walk around this sketchy part of Chinatown. Lol, we've been here 3 times over the past month & still counting! Really impressed by this amazing clean, & bright Vietnamese restaurant!Owned/operated by the Nguyen family for the past 21 years, Cuu Long II has always been at the corner of River & Hotel Sts. Joey Nguyen's parents, who emigrated from Vietnam, started the business, & Joey, who speaks perfect English, took over the business in 2007; he also became the main chef & was passionate in perfecting his broths. In 2017, Joey & his CFO/co-owner wife, Rita, made major changes to the restaurant involving its financial structure, interior design, staff training, marketing, division of tasks among staff, & placing priority on customer service. Cuu Long means "9 dragons" in Vietnamese & refers to the Mekong River, which is also known as the River of 9 Dragons.Note that there is another Cuu Long Restaurant (w/out the II in its name) in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center in Aiea that is operated by Joey's cousin. The menus & prices differ significantly at both restaurants. While we have never been to the Aiea location, this review specifically is for the Chinatown location.Cuu Long II offers an extensive menu of authentic Vietnamese offerings: appetizers (spring & summer rolls); salads (chicken, green papaya, shaking beef); pho (eye round steak, brisket, flank, tripe, tendon, meatballs, seafood, chicken, oxtail); vermicelli dishes; rice plates; banh mi sandwiches; desserts (banana tapioca, jelly tapioca w/ coconut milk); & beverages (Vietnamese coffee, Thai tea, Asian drinks). There are meat choices for the vermicelli, rice, & banh mi dishes: sirloin pork slices, shredded pork, BBQ chicken, lemon grass chicken, curry chicken, spring rolls, tofu, shrimp, steak, pork chop.We had the following:· Beef combination pho. Served piping hot, this pho contains eye round steak, brisket, flank, tripe, tendon, & meatballs. The pho comes w/ super fresh cilantro, onions, basil leaves, culantro, & bean sprouts. Sizes come in medium, large & super large. This is my hubby's favorite (usually orders a large bowl), as he likes a variety of meats, & the broth is clear & so very flavorful!· Vermicelli w/ sirloin pork & spring rolls. A huge bowl of vermicelli noodles w/ lettuce, carrots, bean sprouts, cucumbers, & crushed peanuts topped w/ delicious sliced spring rolls & marinated grilled sirloin pork slices. It comes w/ a thin sweet sour dipping sauce for the noodles. One of my favorites, as the generous spring rolls & sirloin pork are very tasty & complement each other well.· Oxtail pho. Five huge pieces of oxtails in this large bowl of flavorful pho w/ the same fresh veggies & a side house sauce made of diced ginger in vinaigrette soy sauce.· Sirloin pork banh mi. Another favorite of mine! The perfectly crispy crust & soft interior bread made an amazing sandwich, as it was generously filled w/ flavorful marinated & grilled sirloin pork w/ slices of pickled cucumber, carrots, daikon, & sprigs of cilantro. All that we've tried thus far are excellent! The pho is of good quality, flavorful, light in color, clear, & not greasy. The restaurant is very generous w/ its meats & fresh veggies, & its price point so reasonable! Each table had all-you-can-eat condiments of hoi sin sauce, shoyu, hot sauce, sliced fresh habanero peppers, & the restaurant's home made sauté chili oil w/ garlic, peppers, ginger, etc. (that they sell in bottled jars). I personally love mixing the hoi sin sauce w/ the homemade sauté chili oil that goes well w/ anything & everything! Complimentary hot Jasmine tea is served on request.Customer service is outstanding! Staff is very friendly, gracious, & accommodating! Water glasses are consistently refilled, & servers periodically come around to ask if everything is okay.Don't forget to check-in w/ Yelp for 15% off one food item. The restaurant also participates in a loyalty program where you text in a code to get points ($1 paid per one point) & get $4 off when you reach 80 points.COVID requirements in place: hand sanitizer available, social distancing of tables, masks required, gloves worn by staff, tables are constantly cleaned & wiped w/ disinfectant sprays, available menu via scanning of QR code, & payment made by going up to the counter. Take-out orders are in a different area, & curbside pick-up is available.On-street metered parking & municipal lot parking are available. Hours of operation at this time are: Wed to Sat 8a-7p, Mon/Tues 8a-4p, & Sun 8a-3p. Credit cards accepted. So glad that we finally made it to Cuu Long II!
