"Excellent service and wide variety of selections, especially for vegans. It's also BYOB. Make a reservation via calling in advance!"
"Sunday Brunch buffet was awesome! I had a birthday brunch this past Sunday from my dear friends. Staff was the nicest so pleasant. Beautiful scenery and so relaxing. I totally recommend this place. I will be back with my family."

"Sabal is one of Downtown Honolulu's hidden gems. It's located in the Topa Tower, next to Komala Curry. It has been open for a few years now owned and managed by chef Jun. He's a one man show, and his food as he explained to me, is a fusion of Japanese and Korean cuisine. The concept is simple (noodle and rice bowls), but the flavor is anything but. You begin by choosing your starch: ramen style rice or noodles, then your protein: braised pork, beef, tofu, chicken, or won tons, then you complete the bowl with your sauce of choice: spicy garlic chili oil (most popular), spicy shoyu oil, or Korean spicy sauce. I've tried all three and all are tasty, but I prefer the spicy garlic chili oil. Each bowl comes with seasoned bean sprouts, kimchi, pickled daikon, green onion, and a perfectly poached egg. My go-to is the noodle bowl with won tons. The won tons are freshly made by Chef Jun himself and they are the perfect addition to the bowl. He has added kimchi to his menu, as well as hot sauce in 10-ounce containers. The lunch line can get long, but the wait is minimal. Unfortunately, when Covid hit, a lot of Downtown food establishments shut down, and with many still working remotely, the lunch crowds aren't what they used to be. However, I'd say that Sabal is here to stay. The bowls pack a flavorful punch, and I will continue to support Chef Jun and locally owned businesses."
"I needed to get something to show appreciation to our Counselors at our school. I kept thinking then I remembered the delicious crispy cornflake cookies! Ordering was easy and so was the pickup!I also tried the sweet potato crumble. Those are delectable treats as well!!! The man behind the counter was very pleasant!Mitsuba is a place I refound since Covid."
"A great spot for a quick casual grab! Their food is made fresh every morning and definitely taste like it. Everything is reasonably priced. We got food for 2 for 4-5 meals for $50. + Food: Miso soup: 10/10. So flavorful with plenty of veggies. All the other musubis are great and generous on fillings. My favorite was the unagi avocado. + Atmosphere: Service is great and quick and they're all very nice. They don't have seatings so it's a to-go spot. I saw a microwave that I assume you can heat you food up with."
"Dont expect anything from the bar side. You never know what you are going to get at this place. It was once my go to for fun and good vibes, reasonably priced drinks. The bartenders were fun. Now.. it's open, it's not.. it's open it's not. It's a crap bar at best. Take your money elsewhere, you're better off."
"Rakumen has been our go-to for take out and we stopped in for dinner tonight as my kids requested ramen for dinner. The restaurant is spacious and for a Sunday evening, it wasn't too busy. Servers are friendly and the food comes to your table quickly. We ordered and enjoyed:Chicken Katsu curry rice Mochiko chicken Gyoza Black Garlic Oil TanTan RamenBlack Garlic Oil Tonkotsu RamenSpicy Beef RamenWe all enjoyed our flavorful dishes! We couldn't finish our meals so we ended up taking home leftovers. Delicious food and good service, I'm a fan! FYI Rakumen offers Free gyoza from 2-5 pm daily with your order."
"Teruya's is located on Pensacola St., in the same block as Aunty Pasto's and Von's Chicken. There are metered stalls along the street, and it can get busy during lunch time in this area, so I really don't know when I'd be coming back. I had an appointment in the area though, and I was looking for a snack, so this was a perfect choice.Teruya's is not a sit down restaurant. It is a little take out counter in the doorway of a little room where they make all the bentos and handrolls. When I went at about 11:30, there was a small line, but it moved quickly. I ordered 2 shrimp tempura rolls and at $3.50 each, I thought it was a little expensive, but I guess I'm used to Kozo sushi sizes, because Teruya's handrolls are twice as big as Kozo Sushi's. They made the handrolls fresh and I waited just a couple minutes for them. The cashier gave them to me in little sandwich bags which I have never seen before. I knew they were going to be good because I could smell them even before I was able to dig in. They tasted freshly made and they add a sweet sauce to the rice for more flavor. It was a perfect accompaniment to the crunchy shrimp tempura. I was rather full after eating two. So much for a snack. Service was fast and friendly. I would definitely try other bentos they offer if parking wasn't so difficult. I some people illegally parked, but I don't think I would chance it. I could see a lot of the Kaiser workers or other office workers in the area coming to get lunch here because it's fast and delicious."
"Update on Inari factory since I was inside Don Quijote decided to have lunch at Inari factory. Last time I knew it was a lot so this time only got the 4 pak lol I ordered their Shoyu Salmon, spicy ahi, shoyu Ahi and Imitation crab"
"3 pieces of fried subtly sweet chickenHalf a hot dogLayered eggOishi sushi fan shaped with red and green toppingMusubi triangle with thin nori wrapperMaki sushi w/tuna, egg & bonitoThe taste remains the same over the past 18+ years that we've enjoyed their bentos. Just look with your eyes and if you've had this once, your memory retains how it tastes/ filling and delicious!"
"Probably the best udon restaurant in Hawaii. The noodles are freshly made in store. Menu is short, you have a couple of options. Choose from broth based or sauce based. Add toppings such as cha shu, egg, tempura, etc.Prices range from $5.95 - $15+.Very affordable and taste very good. I have tried every single item on the menu. My favourite is the traditional daishi broth udon and I add my own add-ons. My least favourite was the tonkotsu udon, the broth was weak and not very flavourful. The place always have a line but it moves relatively fast. It's mostly self-serve. You order at the counter, pick your add on. Pay. Go grab your own cutlery and table. Eat. There is no table service. Fast paced environment. They have a loyalty program, you need to download the app. I was not able to join and take advantage of the loyalty program as I am visiting"
"Katsumidori is tucked inside the Prince Waikiki Hotel. We were lucky enough to snag a same day reservation, Can't comment on parking since we walked, but the location itself is easy to get to. Also think they have parking validation if you park at the hotel itself. Salmon Skin Salad (A-): Crispy, flavorful salmon skin. generous portion too. Great for sharing or just snacking on between bites of sushi.Assorted Sushi Yokozuna (A): 13 pieces plus a hand roll, so definitely a good way to try a variety. The jumbo sea eel stood out--different (large piece and a lighter color) from what we've had before, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Assorted Seared Sushi (A+): Five pieces of perfectly seared goodness. Each one had that slightly smoky, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. We have since gone back multiple times to order just this for takeout. Overall, solid sushi spot with quality cuts and good variety. Worth checking out if you're in the area!"

Chef Ellis is doing a great job with the menu! The truffle french fries are fantastic and the truffle aioli dip to match. I had a truffle parmesan chicken dish, which was very good. My wife had the fried rice with kim chee. That was also very good. The views of the golf course are fantastic, and the food pricing is reasonable. We enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it.

Week 2 of exploring downtown eats and I am glad I stopped at Sabal. The menu may not look like much but the options are definitely plentiful. I didn't know what to order so I listened to what the people ahead of me were ordering. Everyone in front of me ordered a noodle bowl, so guess what I ordered? I ordered the noodle bowl with braised, pork shoulder. OMG! It was so good. The flavors are on point. It came with the pork shoulder daikon, pickled cucumbers, kimchi, soft boiled egg, and tempura flakes, all the noodles were tossed in the garlic shoyu sauce that I wanted. The pickled veggies definitely paired well with the noodles and sauce. I must say that if was really filling as tasty for $9. Will definitely be back to try their other protein choices and sauces.

Serious Grindz...Always had this place in mind though never make it in time as they do close early at 1pm but because I had another place to visit I was in the area early enough and remember to give them a visit.Just pay attention because if you don't you'll pay right by but having their own lot makes parking a breeze the hardest part was to decide which bite to have though they do have it all out making it so easy to see and the choices they have is quite impressive though some may disagree I do like that it's not all rice though musubi isn't all that they have here it's like a okay's here as well with ochazuke made with Kyoto Matcha, and specials like hamburger steak and ginger pork bowl...how about a musubi sampler...you can even create your own musubi or bowls.its super spacious inside making it easy to browse and I got a goteborg and Portuguese sausage musubi along with garlic noodles. The Portuguese sausage was like a lup cheong sausage and dry, the goteborg was a nice and perfect sized bite, garlic noodles was a nice and flavorful with a hint of garlic. The staff is nice and friendly and a fun place to grab your lunch or a bite for the road.Thank you!

If you are looking for a quick sushi fix when you are in the area then ninja sushi does the job. We always stop by when we are visiting family in Hawaii. Their bentos are reasonably priced and comes with a good amount of food. We never have to wait long when ordering to go or when we dine in. There has never been any errors when we place an order.Their shoyu poke is also very tasty

This place was packed on this Saturday night when we went. Food was good as usual. And as usual there was too much food lol. We were so full and the was still lots of left over food to take home. Everyone was nice and friendly. Service was fast even though it was really busy.

This cute little hole in the wall spot has several varieties of bentos to choose from, as well as andagi and sweet potato mochi. Included on the menu as well are donburi bowls and rolls. They also offer plain white rice and fried chicken for those that don't want the sozai (side dishes)We ordered several few chicken rolls (kind of like a chicken musubi) and andagi. The chicken was tasty and cooked well and the andagi was yummy. When you walk up to the door, there is a table which has the bento selections and sweet potato mochi and andagi. The employee at the order table was very nice. There were other employees working inside and out order came out quickly.I would definitely return to buy a bento or two. This place is great for a quick bite, lunch, or even just a snack for yourself or to share.

"I've heard that the sushi at Waipuna Sushi is good, so I decided to give it a try myself. They are located near the Manoa Valley Theater and the Manoa Marketplace. As of 8/3/2023, the phone number works (808) 988-1200. Customer service is good. It's a small sushi shop, very mom and pops. There are a few tables inside, nice AC. They have a good variety of sushi offerings in different forms. Temaki, maki mono, nigiri, nigiri bento, hoso maki, noodles and salads, party platters and side orders or bubble drinks. I liked that a few of their maki mono rolls have spicy ahi on top. If you check the menu on their website, (https://waipunasushi.com/), these will have the asterisk next to their names. There are also pictures of the sushi platters online. I tried to take pictures of the pictured menu items as I didn't see a lot of those on Yelp.My friend recommended the "Dynamite Maki" $12.99 with spicy sauce on top. I was really tempted as a lot of the pictures on Yelp are for that maki mono roll. It's gotta be popular for a reason, riiight? Like 2 other people came in after us and also ordered it. It's two shrimp tempura and cucumber rolls (8 pieces total) with spicy ahi on top. I got to try one of the pieces from my friend's roll and it was super delicious!I asked the worker what he recommended and the said his favorite was the "Crunchy Donburi" $13.99 with spicy sauce. I saw this in the pictures on Yelp too! This looked really good and I was happy they still made it, as the picture was from a few years ago. It consists of spicy ahi on a bed of sushi rice. With 4 deep fried rice balls ( c: much cronch) and a choice of tempura, shrimp or vegetable. I went with the shrimp tempura, I think it was one piece cut diagonally in half. The shrimp tempura is freshly fried. I didn't have big expectations coming in but that part made me really impressed (: As I've been to "sushi restaurants" with soggy sad shrimp tempura inside the sushi. I was sorta worried that I didn't order 2 items, because I eat a lot of sushi... Sushi is baaaeee LOL. But I'm glad to report that it was a big portion and I was really full ;D I like that the items were prepared fresh and the ahi quality wasn't bad. It was smothered in a spicy sweet shoyu/ teriyaki sauce, but I really like sauce so I didn't mind.We did take out. The worker packed everything nicely in the bag. Chopsticks, napkins, pickled ginger, wasabi and shoyu. Overall, it's a nice place to grab a quick bite. Prices reflect the portions."
"Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii...I had tried to dine here in the past, but didn't have a reserve, so...This time, I called about half an hour before I could get to i-naba Hanalei'i...And got in! Yay!Thank you!I remembered that there was a small, free parking lot behind the building. There's also metered street parking. Located across the street from Washington Intermediate School, this restaurant is divided into two sections: sushi on the left and teppanyaki on the right. We chose Teppanyaki. We had the cozy, clean Teppanyaki room to ourselves. There were only counter seats. The chef did minimal conversation and was efficient, skillful, and courteous. It was fun to watch the chef prepare the food! I coughed a bit when he was cleaning the grill as we were eating. However, the food was beautifully presented and tasted great. We ordered the US Prime Tenderloin Steak. It came with a nice broth, delicious stir-fried veggies, and fluffy, fresh steamed rice. The steak was tender and sliced thin. We could change it up with the homemade ponzu sauce, side of Wasabi, ume, and salt. When I return, I'd like to try the sushi room!"
"This place is located in the Uptown food court at Pearl Ridge Shopping Center. The food court seating is limited overall and worse during peak meal times, especially during these Covid19 restrictions. The menu Has a vide variety of stir fry meat and vegetables. You pick your protein, choose 5 veggies to toss into a stir fry and they get cooked right in front of you. Made to order. It's served with a teriyaki sauce over a bed of white rice. Prices are great for what you get and the amount. They have plates, bowls, fried or cold noodles and soups. One of my past favorites is the chicken with egg (oyaku). Flavorful and filling. When you factor in convenience, value and quality, it's one of my favorite take out places in the mall."
"This Kozo location can use a renovation. Its outdated and small. (Unlike a few other Kozo locations). Kozo sushi is consistently tasty, I like their sushi rolls, shinko maki and California and cone sushi. Their service is a hit and miss, seems like there is only a cashier and a sushi maker so expect to wait when there is a crowd."
"Saeng's is located in Kailua, next to Formaggio's and the pist office & is our favorite Thai restaurant! Why does it make it our favorite?1. Service- From the hostess to the waitress to the. food server to the waterboy, everyone is so nice and on top of their game. And Kudos to the Chef who gives huge portions, so it's okay to have a little wait for your food!2. Atmosphere- It's not a big restaurant but it transports you to Thailand with their exquisite wood statues and artwork .3. They are the only Thai restaurant ( at least on the Windward side)that makes my favorite dish Mee Krob!!Mee Krob is a Krispy thin noodle dish that seems to be tossed in a sweet plum sauce, garnished with bean sprouts and scallions and is absolutely yummy!!4. Their corkage fee is only $10!!They are closed from 3-5pm and always people waiting to be seated right at 5pm, so reservations are suggested. Also parking is limited, but you can park across the streetIf you haven't try it, you should!"
"Price: 8/10 - very affordable and reasonable prices, they have a lot of bento specials, plate lunch combo. Variety: 9/10 - offered maki , donburi, party platters, noodle, nigiri handroll, udon, and other items such as groza, miso soup, sesame ball, edamame, and inari Seating: 8/10 - very limited seating since there was about 6 chairsService: 8/10 - the employees was very welcoming and the food came out very quick.I got the dynamite roll and it was very STUFFED, but I was not too fond of the texture of the spicy ahi. However, I definitely recommend getting their Seared Aburi Salmon with Garlic & Mayo sauce!"
"No trip home is complete without making a detour to Sugoi's for their legendary garlic chicken. Seriously, they've perfected the garlic flavor--it's like they've bottled happiness and served it on a plate. Over the years, their spicy garlic chicken has become my undeniable favorite--it's got that perfect kick and flavor that keeps me coming back for more. And the generous portions? Let's just say one plate is a two-for-one deal. Meal now, meal later. Winning. And let me tell you, I never touch mac salad, like, ever. But somehow, Sugoi's managed to convert me. It's tastier, creamier, and just...better. I'll happily fork it down here. Other honorable mentions? Their salmon, mahi, and chicken katsu. It's a buffet of greatness. The only downside? Waging war with the chaos that is Dillingham Boulevard thanks to the rail construction. But hey, for that spicy garlic chicken fix? I'd brave a traffic apocalypse."
"So happy this place is still around. It's been my first time back this year. Their spicy ahi is always a go to. I always get their spicy ahi nigiri but this time I got their bowl. Never had it before and I wasn't disappointed. It doesn't actually come in a bowl but in a plate. There is a bed of rice under the layer of lettuce. It's topped with the spicy ahi and cucumber. On the side you get wasabi and ginger with a packet of kikkomon shoyu. The spicy ahi isn't spicy to begin with but it's the type of heat that lingers in your mouth and builds up. But still absolutely can't stop setting it and craving it the next day. They do both take out and indoor dinning. They have a lot of grab and go snacks, icecream, two fridges full of drinks. They even offer party platters at reasonable prices. Their menu is very extensive and full of sushi but they do have meat and breakfast options as well.Parking is right up front or on the side of the building is visitors parking although it's a bit tight. Definitely call ahead and just pick up front."
"Desperately seeking cold soba on a warm day brought me here to I-naba on South King Street (on left side past Punahou Street). There's an extensive menu which offered many enticing choices. Finally decided on the gomadore cold soba in a sesame based broth topped with shiso, wakame, shaved bonito, nori, and sesame seeds. Delicious and good to the last drop! I'd order this again!!My lunch mate chose the kakiage soba in hot broth. You may request the kakiage to be served on the side (instead of in the broth) so it will stay crispy. For parking, there are two small lots (including the Baskin-Robbins lot), as well as on-street parking."
"Saito Pho is definitely worth checking out. One of the best pho spots I've been to on the east side of the island. The broth is perfectly seasoned--not too salty, just full of flavor. The noodles have that perfect bouncy texture and the portions they give are generous. The service was fast"
"My grandma suggested coming here and I'm so glad we did. I love a bahn mi! So much flavor!! Not dry at all. Highly recommend if you are in town and love a good sandwich."
"Favorite sushi spot in Hawaii! Always the freshest and best quality fish and shellfish. Not usually a raw salmon fan except at Mitch's. Cannot go wrong with the King Salmon. So buttery! This is what we ordered for our party of 6. Cost a small fortune but so worth it! Staff very friendly and helpful when ordering. And byob is a nice touch too!"
"This place is the spot for saimin, hands down, no contest. Every time I'm on the mainland hunting for good ramen, this is what I'm craving but can never find. Too bad they don't have a location up there they'd absolutely kill it in the winter. This is one of the last true old school saimin spots standing and has been a cornerstone of the Kalihi food scene for generations. There aren't many places I actually remember eating at as a little kid, but this is one of them. And honestly it hasn't changed in decades, and that's a good thing. Still the same layout, same menu on the wall, still only about eight tables and five parking spots, and the aunties working here? Still rocking those warm smiles while making sure tables turn over fast. The saimin? Still legendary. The noodles have that perfect chewiness, the broth and diced char siu are magic, and the beef sticks? They got better over time and thicker....just tender, flavorful beef with zero fat nonsense. But this is one of those places where the saimin is best eaten fresh at the table. Something about the steam, freshness of the noodles, and the broth just hits different when you're sitting there.Pro tip - go past lunch (2-3 pm) or early because parking is a battle (with only five spots) and seating is super limited. But it's worth the effort. My husband declared his won ton min the best ever, and honestly, I can't argue with him. And let's talk price, $8 for a large saimin? In this economy with this inflation? Seems like a steal. I'm just grateful this place has survived until now, serving up the same Saimin I grew up on."
"Best bentos ever -- especially at that price point! My grandparents and I love coming here. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly. Since they offer a huge variety, from spicy ahi cone sushi to miso butterfish to Kalbi, it was helpful to hear their recommendations. My favorite is the mochiko chicken, but you can't go wrong with anything. Definitely recommend for large parties / catering since everyone will find something they'll like! Usually when I go in the afternoon, they're almost sold out. So, go early for the best selection. Parking: lots of parking directly in front Seating: no tables, just grab & goSetup: few tables with pre-made bentos on displayIf I lived closer, I'd be going there everyday for lunch!"
"Aburiyaki...It's all flaming hot here and it's smoking hot! Aburiya Ibushi isn't easy to say but you'll easily fall in love dining here. Located in heart of Kapahulu parking is the luck of the moment if you're able to find one though we decided on a side street next to Taco Bell which we luckily found easily. As we dine on the whim we just stopped by and was happy they were able to take us though it was an hour wait which was very worth it and got a cute and cozy table...though if you're able to get the counter you can see the chef at work which is pretty cool.As this izakaya is filled with so many savory dishes I couldn't decide on one and got a few...Grilled Kurobuta Sausage, Round Eggplant with Grilled Ground Pork, and Ewa Sweet Corn. Yup ordered so I can take it home for later lol! The corn was the best I've ever had so flavorful and the char was done perfectly, Kurobuta Sausage was so savory and served with a scoop of potato salad and whole grain mustard, the grilled eggplant was something I've always enjoyed growing up and having it here was so nostalgic and topped with the grilled ground pork gave it that kick as it had some spice.Reservations here is very recommended which you're easily able to do directly on Yelp with a simple click on the time and fill out the basic information though a credit card is required to hold the reservation and as they're very busy and a small space but would definitely want to bring mom.Thank you!"
"Sushi Gyoshin offers a 15-course omakase, which also includes dessert.Reservations are required, and I highly recommend in trying to obtain a central seating so that you can enjoy your experience even more.Highlights included their housemade pickled ginger, the uni caviar toro monaka sandwich, the sakura nigiri, and the escargot butter.Everything was fresh and beautifully presented, and the staff were friendly and kind.Definitely a great spot for a date night or to celebrate an occasion.+15-course omakase+friendly service+reservations required"
"Wow! I LOVED this place & I am now going to be a weekly religious follower. Since the closing of Odori-Ko, I have not been able to find the Hamachi Carpaccio dish that I so loved--until now!! The Kampachi Carpaccio is worth the trip to Akasaka!! Fresh from Kona!We also had Kampachi Ngiri & they topped w/ pickled wasabi. Chef's Kiss! It's a small, clean, intimate space, so make a rezzie if you're a big group. Staff was super cool. We also had a few other dishes. The Alaska roll was my fave! See you guys next week!!"
"First time trying this place out. It is a little apot across of Moiliili Park next to Little Cesars and Teddy's Biger Burger. They do not have any indoor seating and only have take out. They have a table and register area just as you enter and there is only a small space inside for ordering. They have many bentos and a variety of plates available. I don't know why I have never been here. I love that they they have many fish options. The chicken karage is good along with the white fish and fish cake. This nori kara bento was just under $10 which is a pretty good deal. When we got there, there was no line but shortly after there was a line of about 4 people behind us. I would recommend this place! They are open from 10am-230pm and 4pm-6pm (Mon-Fri) and 10am-2pm on Saturdays."
"I really like the self serve style here as well as rolls that's made and ready to go for customers. We tired 2 kinds of rolls. Red dragon was good. Spicy shrimpRoll was good. Takiyaki hated it. I was hoping it was crunchy from how it looks but it wasnt. This was not for me. Kabocha tempura was sooo good with tempura dipping sauce!! I had to go back and order 2 more orders!!"
"It was dinner time. I just came from the beach and thought, I'm hungry for sushi let's give Ninja Sushi a try. My Aunty lives right across the street from Ninja so the location is very convenient. I always see a line outside their door so they must be good. They only allow 2 people in at a time to pick-up orders or to place an order. I waited outside. When it was my turn I looked over the menu and planned on ordering several items. I was hungry and excited because I was trying a new sushi place. I asked the lady working what their most popular maki roll was... she gave me this look and pointed to the Superman sushi pictured. I said ok. Then I asked if she could recommend a crunchy roll...(she is not looking at me at this time) and then says, crunchy is crunchy and points to another picture. I felt like she couldn't be bothered. She was rude. So I just ordered one Superman maki and that was it. I shouldn't have ordered anything with an attitude like that. I was disappointed because this was first time there. The sushi taste was okay. It seemed fresh. The presentation needs work. Sushi looked messy. I was expecting a shoyu packet and some ginger with the sushi. Nope, nada, nothing, Aohe......Thank God I got a napkin and hashi.I MAY give this place another try. I'd like to order other items on the menu but if their customer service is the same it's a No go!"
"The idea deserves 100 stars - a musubi cafe?!? Yes please! But the actual quality of the musubi was a bit disappointing. Namely, we went around 2pm and found the items to be on the dry side and lacking flavor. May give it another chance earlier in the day but I'd hope items are made fresh all day long."
"Food was delicious definitely get the blue crab hand roll. The hamachi was delicious also. If you like sake then the sake flight is a must!!!!! (And the cups were super cute) . The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is only because you order on your phone so because it's sushi bar and you tend to order multiple times I felt like we were on our phones more than I would have liked ."
"Inexpensive meat on a steak, Japanese Yakatori style. Friendly service, lovely atmosphere. It may be $9 for the chicken, but you'll have to order four of them to have a meal. It's great for a light snack and drink. I'd return."
