"The areas around the property smelled like poop. Not sure what it was either dog or human poop it's smelled horrible. The room that we stay in was ok. The lamp shade between the beds were like falling off the lamp. It was quite frightening to see it or even to turn it on just incase electrocuted since we didn't turn on the lamp, the room looks dark. We never bothered to call the front desk because I was just too exhausted to deal with and hoping housekeeping will check out all the furniture. The parking garage is tight so make sure you don't have SUV when you stay in this hotel. The staffs were wonderful. Awesome people. The beds is springing when your bedmate moves the whole bed moves. Otherwise the area around the hotel is convenient."
"Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Ilima Hotel. It might be my favorite hotel that I've stayed at in Waikiki around the same price given what I was looking for. The staff were also friendly and reasonable. It's also walking distance to the International Marketplace and beach. The room is basically a studio. I came with 2 other people for around a week. We had our own small kitchen with all the kitchen supplies provided such as mugs, bowls, plates, utensils, a coffee maker with free coffee and tea, sponge, dishwashing soap, a drying rack, etc. Basically anything I needed from a kitchen was there. The fridge is also pretty big compared to the mini fridges you often see at hotels. We were able to store leftovers and our own ice cubes (they provide ice cube trays, but I also brought my own). There was also a fairly big dining table where we could eat our take out. Huge difference compared to other hotels where we didn't have a dedicated dining table. Plenty of outlets available. They even had USB outlets by the bed in case you didn't have your charging brick. They had a closet with extra pillows and blankets in case you needed them. There's a laundry room in the hotel where you can pay with your credit card and also buy detergent in the front. Internet was okay. It was fast enough to stream Netflix on my phone, but for some reason too slow to load a lot of things on my laptop, such as Google docs or FaceTime calls. Free parking included. If you've visited Waikiki many times, you find that parking is so expensive at most hotels each night (usually around $20-$40 from my experience), but this hotel's was free. Spaces are a little tight, but you can't beat free. We were never unable to find a spot when we came back from our excursions. They did warn about the possibility of no more available spaces. The only annoying part about our stay was there was construction Monday-Friday happening in the garage. While we were never really around to hear it, I could see it being annoying if I wanted to nap in the middle of the day."
"This boutique, adults-only hotel is an absolute gem! Just a few blocks away from the famous Waikiki Beach, it offers the perfect blend of relaxation and excitement. The highlight is definitely the beautiful deck pool, where you can unwind and soak up the sun in a serene environment. The ambiance is tranquil and sophisticated, making it an ideal escape for couples or solo travelers looking for a peaceful retreat. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every need is met with a smile. The location is also fantastic, with easy access to the vibrant nightlife and shopping of Waikiki, yet far enough to provide a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.Highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a luxurious and intimate stay in paradise. We can't wait to come back!"
"This is a fifteen-suite property catering to gay men and lesbians, although the latter are seen rarely. Located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki, adjacent to Kapiolani Park, it's a short walk to the appropriately-named Queen's Surf, the gay beach. The grounds are nicely landscaped and the one-bedroom suites well-appointed. Amenities include fully-equipped kitchenettes and entertainment centers with TV, VCR, and CD player. There's no pool, but a tropical verandah is equipped with an eight-person spa. Included in the rates are a complimentary Continental breakfast and theme cocktail hours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. For gym bunnies - and many of the guests here are - there's free access to Max's Gym, or those with 24-Hour Fitness membership will find a branch two blocks away. A comfortable resort with a decidely non-cruisey atmosphere. $139 low season, $155 high."
"Jamie W. and I stayed at not one but two hotels on our recent holiday in Honolulu. The first was on the 30th floor of the nicely appointed Prince Waikiki close to Ala Moana (review: https://bit.ly/3LxxAfn). We stayed four nights there because the fourth night was free, Then we came here beyond the other side of Waikiki for the remaining three nights to save some money. You can tell where this story is going. We reserved a room with a Diamond Head View, and for $279 per night (vs. $400 at the Prince Waikiki), it was a much smaller room with a Queen bed (photo: https://bit.ly/3lj7qlN) and a very small bathroom. Indeed it had the view though not as dramatic as I was hoping since we were just on the 8th floor (photo: https://bit.ly/3mRy0CK).However, the feeling of claustrophobia was not just limited to the room. The hotel lobby and bar area also felt crowded and quite dated. It was built in 1963, and it definitely had that retro-vintage feel in the furnishings and the wall art. Normally I would enjoy such quaint surroundings, but somehow the combination of old-fashioned and relaxing wasn't quite working. The front desk staff were not particularly full of aloha as they were selective who they welcomed. Apparently we didn't make the cut. The one true upside was direct access to the beach, and just being away from the crowds on Waikiki was a blessing (photo: https://bit.ly/3JqsE98). That holds true for the hotel's slightly remote location which definitely added to our step count.RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? "I've got mixed feelings about this place. Here's the Cliffs Notes version:Pros: -Right on Keiki Beach-Fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean-Rooms have a kitchenette -Parking is included-Gated, secure propertyCons: -BUGS-Some rooms are not very clean-Only ceiling fans for A/C-Your deposit doesn't go towards your total charge and is only refunded after you check out.-Possible issues with the computer reservation programFor the longer version (War and Peace edition):I booked a room 8 months in advance so you can imagine my surprise at finding out that I wasn't assigned to my room or any room in the system when I checked in. Greg the manager was luckily able to put us in another room for one night though and we were able to stay in our requested room for the remainder of our stay. Our first stay was in the gardenia room. We opened the door to be greeted by a roach just chillin' on the window. Señor Cucaracha glanced at me in a Kafkaesque fashion before his light was snuffed out by a timely swat with a rolled up magazine. Sorry not sorry dude. We paid for this room. The windows in the bathroom don't give you a complete seal of the outdoors so you will get all manner of insects stopping by to say hello at night if you have the light on. I killed a flying ant only to find another ant flew in to be its pest proxy. The walls are thin. If your neighbor has a crying fussy toddler guess who you are going to hear at odd hours of the night? You'll also hear said toddler screaming at odd early hours of the morning, whose parents let them run around naked in public while they eat breakfast and feel OK having their clothes and toys strewn over the sidewalk and common areas. We didn't use the kitchenette too much but it didn't look like it was in great shape. The fridge and stove were rusty. The shower area was rusty too. Good thing I've gotten a tetanus shot in the past. As for the rest of the room, it seemed like they cleaned some areas but left others in a sad state. There were some spots that had layers of dust accumulating on them.We moved into the pikake room after the first night which was so much better! The room is newer and looked like it was cleaned more thoroughly. This room comes with your own private parking spot, a little shaded bench and table outside, newer appliances, newer shower, and more privacy. I didn't hear any of my neighbors in this room, only the rise and fall of the ocean waves at night. The only benefit of the gardenia room that I saw was that it is right along the beach and is a bigger room. The pikake room is only a short walk to the beach though. Both the rooms do not have A/C, only high powered fans. We came here in mid October and it still was a little warm for me. The fans helped, but if you stay here get used to the fact that the humidity will make you feel like you're sticky all the time without an A/C unit. I was actually really hesitant to want to stay here after I was charged twice for my deposit. The deposit for us to stay here was $300 so when I was charged $600 to reserve a room I haven't even stayed in you can imagine how I felt! When I emailed the manager he said there was only one charge on file and said to take it up with my credit card company. In additional messages the tone he conveyed came across as defensive about the situation, reiterating that he never charged me twice. I asked the credit card company if there is ever an instance where a charge can be made twice where it isn't authorized by the vendor. They said no, credit card companies will not authorize any additional charges unless it's done on the vendor's side. After months of having the credit card company dispute my case for me, the extra $300 was taken off my statement. This indicates that the bungalows acknowledge there was a double charge. When I arrived I didn't know what to expect of the manager based on how he came across in our emails. When I met Greg in person though, he is a very nice, friendly guy. Very chill and relaxed and the opposite of what I imagined based on our previous correspondence. Unfortunately, I had to give a reminder to refund my deposit otherwise I would have lost the money I spent to reserve the room that apparently wasn't even reserved for me.Note that your deposit does not go towards your total rate. You will only get it back after you check out. If you cancel at any time your deposit is non refundable. I felt like my deposit was being held hostage during my stay and that if I did anything to irk the management I wouldn't get it back. You also are charged a cleaning fee on top of your total amount. While there are some good things about the beach bungalows, I don't think I'd stay here again because of the problems I had in reserving my room and the cleanliness in some of the rooms. Unfortunately the bungalows were definitely a bungled low in our trip to Hawaii."
"Castle Resorts doesn't offer 5 star hotels but they offer good rates and reasonable lodging for the price conscious traveller. Their office is based in Hawaii so you won't talk to some outsourced fool that will tell you to drive from Honolulu to Kona. They can help you find a hotel on Oahu, Big Island, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, even Saipan and New Zealand.I recently set up multiple reservations in Kona and Hilo for one of our company's photographers. Spoke with Carrie on the phone. She offered excellent customer service. Actually she went beyond excellent customer service. She made everything easier for me. It was easy filling out and sending her a credit card authorization and she also helped cancel previous reservations with no problems. Thank God for this office and its employees."
"My trip to Hawaii was gonna be fun and special, and one of the main things you need to be certain of is where you and your friends will stay at. For us, Waikiki Malia was the best bet, and I'm happy to say we had the best time here, and the hotel was on top of most things during our one week stayOur room was clean, tidy and equipped with all the essentials, with an outside view as an amenity. Close to the main lobby, you have access to a 4 ft pool and a warm spa. You have a phone to call Lobby, and the staff is friendlyIf I decide to revisit Waikiki, hotel Malia has a returning customer"
"In spite of mixed reviews, we chose to "Stay" because of its great location - literally next door to our favorite south shop, a block from the beach and a block from a number of our favorite restaurants. Our room was adequate in size, with a futon, desk and armchair. Was excited that we had a microwave, EMPTY fridge and coffee maker - although there was coffee and snacks all morning through 3 PM every day! They also had a filtered water dispenser! The bathrooms were tiny, but functional The only negatives were they did not have windows that could open nor blackout drapes and a teeny tiny tv.The staff was always friendly, helpful and informative. The next time we stay here, we are definitely gonna ask for a room on a higher floor, and away from back of the hotel so as not to be awakened by the daily pick up of trash and then late night departure of guests from the very, very busy karaoke bar downstairs."
"What a wonderful little oasis in Oahu. We probably never would have found this place if it wasn't for our daughter Amanda who just happens to work here. She discovered this place 2 years ago & as she said to me then- "Mom, it's YOUR standard of clean" & it IS. All the comforts of home, except you're a guest! Warm (not temp lol) & cozy & beautifully decorated (photos do not do it justice). We have our own private outdoor space & the lanai for ALL guests is magnificent. HIGHLY recommended & we'll DEFINITELY be back"
"We recently stayed at Residence Inn during a soccer tournament. I was able to check-in a few days ahead on the Marriot app and checked-in with the staff at the lobby upon our arrival which was quick and easy. Our whole team stayed at the same hotel and was really convenient for all -- just a quick 15-minute drive from the fields! We had a room on the fourth floor -- a studio with a kitchen, ample storage space, and a comfy bed. The pull out couch bed wasn't the most comfortable and squeaked every time our son moved. The rooms felt pretty sound proof. I couldn't hear much outside noise which was great. We even had a karaoke night in one of the rooms one evening and you couldn't really hear much outside of the doors. What wasn't soundproof was the Karaoke Night happening below in the lounge. Our friend's room was above it and I couldn't believe how loud it was. Thankfully they shut things down by 10pm.The hotel also offers some nice amenities. There's a small-ish pool (no jacuzzi) for post-game relaxation and a barbecue area with tables. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time -- it's a popular spot and they let you reserve in 2 hour blocks of time. Grilling instruments are available at the front desk. During the weekends, food vendors are available outside the entrance and rotate each day which offers a nice variety of options if you're looking to stay in. Otherwise, there's a good amount nearby restaurantsWhile the common areas did get a bit busy during peak meal times, with several outer island teams also staying there, it was all part of the fun and experience for us. I'm not sure how other/non-tournament going visitors would feel with ALL those kids running around. Haha. Despite the busy-ness, the staff that I came across were friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was also very convenient and offered a good amount of choices from eggs, sausages, cereal, juices, and more. Also, the mini waffles were exceptionally delicious. Seriously, I need that batter recipe -- they were a highlight for sure! The only issue I ran into during my stay was that my mobile key wasn't working and had to get it reset at the front desk and that seemed to help. It didn't work consistently though and definitely wouldn't work for the towel dispenser. Overall, it was a pleasant and convenient stay. For what it is, I think it's a bit pricey, especially with parking not included, but that probably has a lot to do with demand during that holiday weekend. We'd definitely consider staying again for the convenience."
"Nice boutique hotel near the ocean. The staff was very friendly and embodied the aloha spirit. I realized that I prefer boutique hotels as (less) guests interact with the staff which can make for a better stay.Hotel Renew is not the tallest hotel in the area but it's a block from the beach. Unlike the taller hotels nearby, Hotel Renew rooms do not have any balconies but just go outside and enjoy Hawaii = ). Besides the beach, if you are okay walking, you can walk to the International Marketplace, Royal Hawaiian Center, Honolulu Zoo and even the Diamond Head trail. The Ala Moana Mall is a bit too far to walk to IMO.Rooms are clean and to nit-pick a bit, the shower head could use more cleaning as you can see the hard water mineral deposits but the shower water pressure is fine as well as hot water availability.Pro-tip:The hotel has a water fountain downstairs that the staff can use to refill water bottles (with chilled water) so bring a reusable water bottle to save the planet and on buying bottled water."

Overall, the location, kind concierge, and free coffee/tea is what saves this place. Otherwise, please put your money elsewhere.Setting: Right in the heart of Waikiki, the hotel is a 7 minute walk to the beach, and is right next to Marugame and Paia Fish Market. The pool is nice, but cold (stick to the beach for a dip).Parking: $45/night, PLEASE do not park here especially if you have an SUV. It is an incredibly narrow garage and many other travelers were struggling to park. Room: For 6 people, we were given 2 queens and then 1 full sized bed that did not match the booking description and did not fit our party. The room itself had peeling paint, a dingy smell, and a broken stove.

Ive stayed here for 5 nights so far, and it has been a really good experience. I was skeptical considering some mixed reviews about the place, but there are some good pros that make this place worthwhile to stay! I'm staying on the 16th floor, and boy it's an incredible view. Everyday I've been waking up to fresh coffee, tea, and sitting outside on the lanai. The lanai is a decent size, and has 2 chairs and a table. I got the deluxe option which includes two beds, kitchen, and a lanai facing Manoa, canal, and the golf course. Cooking: definitely able to cook small meals here. There is a stove, oven, fridge, sink, and has basic pots/pans. Everything works good.Service: everyone at the front desk has been very kind and friendly. Shoutout to Nicole! She's awesome and a really genuine person. Computer: there is computer access downstairs and you are able to use it, the front desk can provide you with the password. Pool: the pool is small, but it is great since you can reserve it just for your party. It's nice to have a private pool time without strangers in the same pool. You can reserve it for 1 hour. Hours are 8-9pm. There's also a sauna room and a small gym that features 2 treadmills. Parking: FREE. Which is what makes this place so great. I've been able to find parking everyday, although the night time would probably get harder to find. Recommend getting the car back to the hotel earlier and then walking to dinner around the area so you don't lose the spot. Overall, it's been really peaceful and everything I've needed for my stay. I would recommend this place to family/friends who are looking for an affordable place. Taking one star because the hotel is a bit outdated. But they maintain the building and amenities well!

Book our staycation for a Sunday and Monday night for my wife's birthday in this newly renovated and rebranded hotel in Waikiki, not on the beach. We chose here because we didn't need beachfront and they had a promo. In this simple review, they were clean and a reasonable price. Decent sized rooms with basic amenities. Weird front entrance with no drive up and drop off area. Not sure if we had to park where that would be tho they seemed to have a small parking lot behind the building under the pool. Nice 2nd floor pool and bar area which we did spend some time in.We would come back again as a reasonably priced alternative.

Hard to believe that I'm the second reviewer after four years! The Cabana at Waikiki is a gem of a place. I'm told that all the units have been recently renovated. We had a suite which had a full kitchen, trundle bed in the front room and king size bed in the bedroom. The staff is very friendly, Miho, the general manager, being a real sweetheart. The suites are very clean, relatively quiet (there was some shouting from a nearby apartment building) and within easy walking distance of the Honolulu Zoo, Aquarium and many restaurants and retail shops. It's almost a stone's throw from Hula's, Honolulu's oldest gay bar. For the one bedroom suite, we paid $159 a night plus $10 for parking and an additional $5 for internet access. Compared to the large chain hotels like the Sheraton, this is a bargain. You could easily eat some meals in your room to reduce costs. I hope to stay here again when I visit Honolulu.

We just came back from amazing 5 day trip, used Costco Travel to book it.At that time they had the best rates. We opted to upgrade to ocean from room, wise choice! Our daughter and her friend had the City View room it was very small but nice and clean. The little balcony offered a peekaboo of the ocean, you have to walk outside and look for it.They didn't even know it was there until I pointed it out .We love the bar and enjoyed our cocktails (I recommend the espresso martini). We also made reservations for Hau Tree reservation, food and view was excellent!I think some of the bad reviews are for some of other rooms that perhaps look over parking lot. This location was PERFECT for us.A 15-20 minute walk to center of Waikiki and decided to walk to our hike at Diamond Head,it was 2.4 miles. We felt it was worth it to avoid the crazy traffic getting into the park.I was worried my daughter and friend (both 21)would think their city room was too small and location not central enough for them but they loved it and are dying to come back! They Uber'ed or walked everywhere. They stayed at Beachcomber Hotel last visit, had a great time but thought beach in Waikiki was crazy busy. They felt pampered having the Kaimana Beach steps away from our hotel and loved swimming next to the friends friendly seal who hangs out there.Just a warning about Costco Travel-their website claims it offers a $100 food/beverage credit however when I asked hotel clerk they said it was not part of our package.I'm in process doing a chargeback of $100 with my credit card. We look forward to coming back next year(but not with Costco lol)can't wait!

These bungalows are located in the North Shore area and are situated alongside Ke Iki Beach. The property had gated entry which was nice and a small parking area within. We arrived at a certain time to collect the keys to our bungalow from the manager onsite; however it would have been nice if there was system in place to retrieve your keys or check-in at any time (similar to a hotel) as we were driving in from over an hour away. I do not recall the name of the particular bungalow I stayed in, but I liked it. It was on the second floor and had a good number of windows which allowed for the ocean breezes to flow thought. This was very much welcomed as the unit did not have A/C and only electric fans were provided.i could see how it would have been very hot or uncomfortable if I was on a ground unit with no A/C. There was also a large covered patio/deck at the front where you can views the beach and watch the sunset. The property for the most part was very private. This was my first time staying at a bungalow so, I was not exactly used to the lack of concierge or housekeeping amenities. Towels and some kitchen items were provided, but make sure to bring extra of whatever you think you might need. There is a grocery store about a 5-7 min drive away so that was helpful at times.Overall, not a bad stay and beautiful sunsets if you are looking to really get away to tranquility in a remote location in North Beach.

We are thinking of purchasing two units in the condotel as investments. We decided to book a weekend at the Waikiki Grand Hotel to see what the customer experience would be like. It was horrible. When we booked through the Castle website. They advertised that there is parking on site. Hence we booked. We check in two weeks later and the front desk tells us there is no parking on site and that we should've called to confirm. We ended up having to park my car across Waikiki at another hotel that allowed public parking at $30. Why advertise you have parking on site when you really don't? This experience left a horrible taste in my mouth. And I canceled the rest of my stay and also decided against purchasing the two units for sale in the hotel. And also - the Aunty at the front desk can tone down the attitude. We are not tourists. We are Kama'aina and kanaka maoli - same as you. Is this how you welcome others in your hale? SHAME! Castle Resorts is this how you treat your Local people? I've already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and contesting the charges with our credit card company. Who wants to pay for services that are not delivered as promised? I've also shared my experiences with followers on my travel website; and my FB and IG page with over 5,000 faithful followers.

Waikiki Malia is a five minute walk away from the beach. The room itself is average, the decor--dated. The restroom is on the small size, especially the shower. If you are on the bigger side whether horizontally or vertically then you may find it uncomfortable. They do have a decent size hot tub but a dinky size pool. If you're over six feet tall you can probably get a few strokes in before hitting the wall.A laundry room is on site as well as a small fitness area, and across the street are several places to eat (not too fancy). What stood out to me at this hotel was the excellent service. All staff members were friendly and welcomed you every time they saw you with a warm smile. It made me feel like I was staying at an aunt or uncle's house. For this reason, I'm giving it 4 stars; otherwise it would've been a 3.

"Honest to goodness this is a financial steal! Cold AC, complimentary breakfast M-F, the O Club is next door, clean and well-equipped workout room, desk for working in our room, fridge, microwave, Keurig, 3 lounge chairs, two TVs. Each person I have interacted with who works here (at least 6) have been friendly and helpful. Also, it is only 1.2 miles from the beach. We jogged one day and drove the other. I highly recommend. Finally, laundry is free, as long as you have your own detergent."
"First time staying @ Aston Waikiki Beach Tower and let me start off by describing this property in one word: WOW!! My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to spend our 4 day trip in Oahu here on the 32nd floor. The suite was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had the most amazing balcony view. This living space came equipped with a nice living room, dining area, fully furnished kitchen, the craziest toilets I have ever seen [in a good kind of way]!! The hotel also provides a fitness center, private pool that is perfect for your little ones, and events such as wine tasting, hula lessons, & ukulele lessons [all complimentary].Customer service was courteous from the very start of our stay until the very very end. Hospitality really doesn't get any better than this. 5 solid stars. I'd make a return here in a heartbeat."
"I used to come here often when I was younger with my family as a staycation. We dinned numerous of times at the "floating restaurant" eating crab legs, feeding the koi, and taking pictures at the waterfall. I had mixed feelings to find out that Pagoda Restaurant old location has since changed to Sorabol. Happy that Sorabol has reopened but sad that Pagoda Restaurant (buffet) is gone. When I grew up I took my children to the restaurant and made a few good memories as well. We have moved away and decided to stay here for a few days. Good Location: - Close to the world's largest open-air shopping mall. It's called Ala Moana Shopping Center. - Near Waikiki- Near Ala Moana Beach Hotel: Two Double Beds Room - According to the site it stated that the hotel rooms are refurbished. - It took a bit for the water to heat up in the tub. My boys questioned me if it was okay to take a bath in the bathtub. - I had reserved 4 people to stay over and there weren't enough towels in the bathroom. - I liked that it had a mini fridge and microwave. - My kids were excited that they saw a gaming system in the room. Blu-ray/DVD player and PlayStation 3 console, however, every time I checked down stairs everything was checked out. I checked morning, afternoon, and evening. - The air conditioning blew cold. - The beds were comfortable. Daily Amenity Fee ($30) per day:If it wasn't for the breakfast, the Amenity fee would not be worth it. * $5 daily breakfast: WORTH IT. They give you a coupon voucher for $5 breakfast. My family and I went every day that we stayed. It's called the Pagoda Restaurant (No Buffet) and they serve local breakfast. There is a specific menu that you can order from. We almost tried every single item that was offered on the menu and enjoyed it. Except for the Ham Omelet & Vegable Omlet. We also ordered other items from the regular menu such as the Ox Tail Soup, Loco Moco, and Pork Belly all great items too. Service was great every time we came. It did get busy at times and they let us know if the kitchen was a bit behind. * Blu-ray/DVD movies and PlayStation 3 game rentals (couldn't use it)* Daily local newspaper (in lobby) I grabbed a paper every day except for Saturday because The Honolulu Advertiser stopped printing physical papers for Saturday in 2020. * In-room coffee and tea packets replenished on request In-room safe Local and toll-free calls WiFi access throughout the property. I didn't use the coffee machine and WiFi was a bit spotty at times. * Free fish food for the Koi. When I was a child this was one of the big highlights when we dined at the original restaurant; to feed the fish. My kids also enjoy doing this. Pool: It was small but fine for my younger boys. The pool is not heated. Parking: Self-Parking is $31. A lot of hotels in Hawaii charge for parking. You can try street parking and metered parking. Pagoda no longer shares parking with Ross. It shares parking with Sorobal and there is limited parking in front of the hotel. The parking structure is right after you pass Sorobal on the right hand side. Overall: When we come back to Hawaii I wouldn't mind staying here for the the price, THE BREAKFAST, the location, and the nostalgia.2024: 8/30 Rememba da hanabada days when we feed da koi at da floating restaurant?"
"The lodge here is similar to most Navy Lodging that you will find at any base. My biggest qualm with this location is that I wish they had a kitchenette. Most people staying here stay longer than 30 days and that option would be nice :)Location: Right inside the MCBH main gate, literally. Staff: 90% of the staff is always friendly, always ready to help you and they have gone above and beyond to make sure we feel at home. After staying here for over 60 days, they truly know us now and they have become friends. Upon check in, if you're new to the island they will give you tons of pamphlets and direction to get acquainted with the island. There are free movies for your rental convenience and the MCX mini mart/gas station is right across the way.Amenities: We were able to stay in the room that has 2 queen size beds, a fridge (3/4 size) a kitchen sink, semi furnished kitchen (dishes, utensils, grill utensils, cups, coffee maker and microwave) a little bit of kitchen storage, full bath. Outside the room there are 3 different grills outside, coin operated washer/dryers and free MCCS wifi. There is a continental breakfast served at the loge from 6-9 daily that is complimentary to all their guests. The food is more than just bagels, cereal and jam. Everyday they have a different protein, a different egg and a different carb so it doesn't get too boring. The location is also near everything (I know the base isn't too big!) but its all within biking (they have those for free rental too!) or walking distance. Overall, I don't love or hate this place. It is in a great location and was better than staying on the other side of the island and commuting but there are things that I do believe they could improve on :)"
"I can't believe I haven't come across to write a review about this place yet. On my first visit to HNL, this was the hotel we ended up staying in. It's located in Waikiki, relatively close to the beach (about a 5-10 minute walk). The vibes remind me of something like the Ace hotel. The rooms were cute and most of them had a patio, which was really great. The staff were really nice too. This hotel is also pet-friendly, although I think there's a fee. Last of all, and most importantly! There was free parking when we stayed, y'all! This is extremely hard to come by in Waikiki! For the price and location, this is definitely a good spot to consider for a trip to HNL."
"We booked this on Priceline. The photos looked nice. However the room was gross. We found ants. The floors weren't clean. The lamp light was literally hanging on by a thread! Close to the beach and walking distance to Hilton with free night life shows. Room has a fridge, microwave and A/C. We were afraid to use any amenities. They do not offer parking. They said if you can find street parking then take advantage as it's free. There is a garage attached that is $40 and cash only. They hung the bedroom TV up and left the TV on demo mode so we had this annoying green menu up the entire time (see photos) We did ask for a refund, new room anything they refused. We will be calling Priceline. I do want to state the saving grace and only reason I think they are deserving of a one star is because the receptionist was lovely. She took over 20 minutes to map out, circle and tell me all about the local hotspots as well as must check out items while on the island."
"I really enjoyed my stay at IHG, with my family. As other reviewers have mentioned the building is old, that said it's kind of a commodity to the historian who might appreciate that the building is original from WWII. The hotel was very clean and presentable. There is limited trash receptacles available. One very tiny trash in the room, one in the computer area, and in the kitchen/reception desk area. Between stays, they replaced the mirror with something more "modern", but less practical (no more medicine cabinet). Though it was pretty. The mirror that hangs on the bedroom door to the bathroom however seems to be original and very beautiful. Out on the lanai, there is a scenic view of the city overlooking the ocean. Lots of trees down below with the grass and plants nicely manicured. A plumeria tree down below gives off a beautiful aroma, and a hill with the perfect tree to read under. Lots of seating in the courtyard. I slept very comfortably. There is a/c. The fridge fit our pizza box, laying flat. They gave us each a free water when we arrived. Free breakfast is also great. We stayed a while and I have no complaints. I really liked the omelettes. They also had computers with printers available. The workers here were absolute sweethearts. I apologize in advance if I misspell anybody's names.. Christina at the front desk really made me feel at home, and Aloha was also very helpful. Ilene does a great job in the kitchen. Everything was very good and clean. These three Ladies made it such a pleasant experience with their positive attitudes. A washer and dryer is available for use on both floors. They sell laundry detergent and bounce. This area was also clean. Lots of exits/entry points. We got to watch a helicopter land on the property which was pretty cool.We personally found this place to be far less expensive then many of the other hotels. The only downside is that there isn't a lot to do on the base and it is semi far from the areas I wanted to be. It wasn't loud during our stay and I never heard a single rooster."
"Call me crazy. I spent months planning my Hawaii vacation since last May. I booked my room at Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki Hotel just weeks prior. I guess the hotel prices increase early December. The room price doesn't matter. It's the final cost after the surcharges etc. I learned from most of reviews to understand what everyone is talking about. There is a $35 service charge per day (plus taxes). I only found out about it upon checking out. I booked through MemberDeals.com, a third-party vendor through Govx.com, which I found it reliable and better than AARP Travel Center. After I got my confirmation info, I emailed [email protected] to triple confirm my reservation. I don't want to be a victim of fake reservations. I prepaid my reservation $747.58 including taxes with a 72-hour cancellation policy. I got a superior room because of the bed type. When my friend and I arrived at the hotel, the front desk agents were busy. While I waited, I began to enjoying the climate and open air at the lobby. After I put my credit card to pay for incidental charges, she handed both of us shell leis. How lovely. There are some perks like free Bishop Museum admission for staying there. But we were too busy with the schedule. I didn't get a chance to enjoy them. We had our takeout dinner on the lanai. My friend and I enjoyed the breeze from Manoa Valley. I didn't get to see the fabulous view until next morning. Because of time zone difference, we woke up before sunrise and watched the sun slowly peeking through the mountain. I can't remember if we could see the ocean from the lanai. But the views of high-rise buildings were sufficient. There was a short walking distance to the beach. But I walked up and down Ala Wai Blvd for morning exercise instead. The hotel guests were cordial and housekeeping staff was friendly. I was very happy to use the laundry facility at the basement. I bought detergent at ABC Store, which was same price as at the front desk. It costed me $4.75 for washing and drying. I just swiped them with my credit card. I rented a car one day for a circle-island tour. Parking was easy at the side lot or in the basement. I just had to register the car at the front desk and pay $35. It gave me in and out privileges. Street parking is very limited. I rarely see opening.I didn't get a chance to lay at the pool. Because it was cold in February. I checked several times a day for the sun to hit the lounge chairs, but it never happened. I decided to walk around Kuhio Avenue in the sun instead.Room amenities were very efficient. There was a coffeemaker with coffee packs above microwave oven. I have to go to front desk to ask for tea bags. The refrigerator is hidden in the TV cabinet. It worked too well. My fruits came out frozen next day. Hahaha. I bought a gallon size drinking water from the store and got my refill of filtered water from the lobby, along with ice cubes. I don't know why but I felt so relaxed. Everything is within reach. Hot water came out so quick and pressure was strong. It didn't take long to complete a shower as the soap and shampoo dispensers were installed on the wall. Washing sink being outside of the enclosed bathroom was a plus. I wish there was a small table for eating. I grabbed the outdoor chair as table instead. We really enjoyed our stay at Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki. Check-out process was quick. I shall return. p.s. "The Waikiki Beachcomber has been my go-to spot whenever I visit Waikiki. Having stayed here three times now, I can confidently say that I've always truly enjoyed my time at this wonderful hotel. The service is consistently superb, and during my latest visit, I was especially impressed. On this most recent trip, I lost one of my favorite Hello Kitty jackets--a limited-edition item that I was absolutely heartbroken over. Late in the evening, I approached the front desk to inquire about the lost and found. The staff immediately sprang into action. One of the front desk employees even personally accompanied the housekeeping team to search through the lost and found.Although they located the jacket that evening, it was securely stored away, and the housekeeping manager had already left for the day. The staff reassured me that I'd be able to retrieve it in the morning--and sure enough, I did! It turned out that a housekeeping employee, Ryan, had found it in the hotel lobby and promptly turned it in. I was so touched by the kindness and diligence of everyone involved, especially Ryan. Special thanks also go to Florentina and Cyrus, who went above and beyond to assist me.The Waikiki Beachcomber has always been my favorite place to stay in Waikiki, and this experience has only reinforced my confidence in choosing them. Their exceptional service and attentiveness are truly unmatched. Thank you, Beachcomber, for making my stay so memorable--and for helping me recover my beloved jacket!"
"A vacation of a lifetime for me !!Got to stay with my brother and sister-in-law at this time share at the Grand Waikikian at the Hilton Hawaiian Village !Very elegant interiors from lobby to the suites!!Housekeeping very thorough in keeping rooms clean plus fresh linens and towels.Restrooms are so spacious with plenty of drawers and shelves.Kitchen equipped with blender, toaster, microwave, full size refrigerator, diswasher, electric range with oven, coffee maker and even a rice cooker, wow !!!!A nice balcony view looking down on the roof top Starlight Luau Show!!!"
"Great location... Hospitality and Service shined!Check-in experience was good! We were able to check-in early. We checked-in the lobby. I think guests are also able to check-in curbside. Our unit on the 9th floor was clean and everything was in working order, although, our "two-bedroom deluxe" was smaller than what I expected. The resort property was clean as well. There is always resort staff employees cleaning the property. The open air entrance to the hotel and to the pool was nice and refreshing. I was worried about safety and security but to get to the rooms on the upstairs floors the elevator will require guests to scan their card key (or wristband key) before you can press the button to your floor. They tried but we didn't fall for their timeshare gimmick. Our worst experience was in Anaheim. Grrr! Anyway, our short stay in O'ahu really didn't allow for it. We were too busy with my daughter's wedding and we wanted to make sure that our short time in Honolulu was spent well. Unfortunately, we did not have time to enjoy the resort activities so I am unable to comment. This resort is at a good location. Step outside and you're in the heart of Waikiki Beach Walk. Walking distance to everywhere... food, shopping and, yes, the beach! The location is very touristy! The only thing I didn't like was the valet parking for $40/night (no other option if you drove in with a car). Self-parking is not available at this resort. Plus, there is a resident bum just outside of the parking garage entrance. This was our first time vacationing at Club Wyndham at Waikiki Beach Walk. Overall a pleasant stay.Review #2251"
"+ Complimentary parking available on property+ Mini refrigerator/freezer+ Microwave+ Spacious room+ Dining table and chairs + Location+ Consistent hot water for showers- Spotty WiFi. It frequently disconnects even while actively using it. Must sign in each time you leave and return to the property.- Intermittently noisy through no fault of the hotel. Unfortunately, we were stuck with a connecting room. Normally, this wouldn't bother me. However, the neighbors were very noisy and we could hear them through the connecting door. (Luckily, they checked out several days later).- During our stay, Housekeeping was REQUIRED to attend to the room every 24 hours despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign. Forget trying to sleep in. They will knock, then open the door if there's no answer. This hotel was specifically chosen due to its location and convenience. The Commissary, PX, library and neighborhood parks/playgrounds are within walking distance. This is especially helpful for those PCSing to/from HI and have no vehicle. The rooms look similar to the last time we stayed in 2021. The room rate has increased and so has the laundry prices. It is now $3 per load to wash and $3 to dry. Instead of coins, they have switched over to a card payment system."
"Not bad. Two night stay during RIMPAC.PRO- AC-Clean rooms-Nice size fridge -Microwave -Balcony CONs-Washer and Dryers are terrible-Small Bathrooms -Terrible Wi-Fi I enjoyed my stay here."
"Spent nearly a week at the Bamboo Waikiki and it was a great experience. Super convenient, so close to the beach (two small blocks). Great location as we were right in the heart of great food and shopping options. The atmosphere was quite good. Clean. Helpful staff and Cecilia was super friendly. The room was a bit small but the purpose of the trip was to be on the beach not sit in a hotel room. All the amenities you need in the room. The dyers on the 12th floor was broken so we did have to wait to use the dryer on the 8th or 4th floor."
"Wow I'm so glad I got to see it first hand what they did with this place! Former Waikiki Sand Villa has completely transformed into a retro, hip resort called Wayfinder Waikiki. It's all in the DETAILS!! From the Gyotaku (Japanese fish painting) shower curtains to retro style kitchenette with GMEG branded fridge and kettle, everything is well thought out. Sofas with palaka (Hawaiian checker design) motif, beautifully designed pool towels, pikake & mokihana garlands on the lamp cables, historic Hawaii photos in the walls, thoughtful surprise hidden inside the record cover(Spotify playlist for your paradise vacay vibe)... it goes on and on with every detail. Downstairs has a surprisingly large and quiet pool surrounded by a lush tropical greens that you almost forget that you're in the heart of Waikiki. Love that they didn't skimp on the furniture and went all out with the wooden lounger. Not using the typical stripe pool towel like everyone else, they provide the beautifully designed lush Hawaiian green towels instead. Nicely done! Everywhere you look there's a special touch at this place and I was pleasantly surprised to find it tucked away right at Ala Wai & Kanekapolei. Bonus- there's a restaurant downstairs, Red Fish, by Foodland. You know what that means!! Poke is on point‼. There's a poke flight with three choices.Look at my beautiful spread of two orders of poke flights, garden salad and rice The valet parking is $6 if you're dining there... definitely with the try"
"We stayed at the Halepuna for 4 nights for our end-of-summer vacation. If you want a quiet, ultra-clean, and relaxing hotel this place is for you. The tradeoff is you get less activities and amenities compared to larger, touristy hotels. Our Oceanside 2-double bed room was super comfy. Reasons we loved this hotel:1. Japanese-style toilets in the room and throughout the property. Super clean bathrooms. The one on the 8th floor unisex gym even has cursors to aim that water jet along with water pressure control, LOLl!2. Nice pool deck on the 8th floor with bar and plenty of seating. For our first night we got free shaved ice!3. The 8th floor also has a nice gym with separate rooms for weights, cardio, and a studio equipped with yoga mats, touch-screen video for workout demos, and exotic equipment like core bags, CMT devices, and kettlebells. 4. Plenty of parking in the large indoor lot. $50/night seems typical in Waikiki. Hotel has ZERO resort fees.5. Proximity to a bakery, Denny's, Roy's and ABC Store. If you want even more food options and a crowded atmosphere with nightly live music, you can head to Outrigger Reef a block away. Also easy access to Waikiki beach despite the hotel being at the end of a street.6. Fast and free wifi.7. Water dispensers on the 8th floor, with icy cold water on the pool deck. The lobby has one upscale restaurant, Umi that specializes in elegant seafood, but no other amenities like gift shops or free coffee/water stations. The hotel does have daily specials and activities, so check out the calendar."
"This review is for unit 34.Overall, I had a good stay and would stay here again if I visit. My metric for hotel review is:1. Quiet, especially at night since I am light sleeper. I always bring ear plugs when I travel just incase I stay in a noisy room. For this trip, I did not have to use it.2. Clean, goes without sayingSo as long as it satisfies the two requirements above, then I'm good. The room is well kept and clean. I didn't find dirty or nasty areas. The place did NOT smell either. I was afraid that since it is an old building, there might be some odor from bathroom but luckily there wasn't.Parking is not free. They charge $40 a day for parking fee. It's a 5 minute walk to Waikiki beach. This is a good location, as it is close to:1. Long Drugs2. Lahaina Shave Ice3. Ramen Nakamura4. Henry's Place"
"Upon arrival you need to buzz in for parking. If you have a VRBO reservation you probably have a reserved parking spot, if not it is first come first serve on spots above the reserved parking areas. Be extremely care making the turns as it can be extremely tight and not all vehicles are made the same, turn as tight, or are parked and tucked in as the should be. There are signs of people's vehicles scraping both pillars on each turn. Don't add to it! Parking (if not reserved is $35 a day plus tax. There is a pool on the second floor open 9am to 9pm. With an exercise room also on the floor open 7am to 9pm.There is a tiny utility closet on each floor with a trash can to drop your trash in, but obviously it can fill fast as it's not a chute or large bin and it's for the entire floor.Self-service laundry on level P3A for $2 a wash/dry with credit card only. Soap/dry sheets are $2 quarters only. The sheet I got on check-in says open 24/7, but the sign in the area says 7am-10pm. Hakuyosha dry cleaning service is available M-F 8am to 5pm. Same day service is available, dropoff form (available at front desk) at the front desk before 8am and pick-up after 6pm.Note: if you reserved through VRBO or something similar you probably do not get cleaning service, so keep that in mind as you prepare for your trip as you may need to bring some supplies or buy at the ABC Store."
"We loved our stay at hotel la Croix! This hotel offers a unique location right next to many stores and shops in Waikiki and short walking distance to the beach! It is also very close to many bus stops and has its own ABC store. We enjoyed the balcony, pool, and excellent service this hotel provides. We definitely would choose to stay here again!"
"My boyfriend and I loved the Lotus Honolulu! I had booked the Lotus through the Southwest Airlines website. The price was decent (for Hawaii) and the location was near Waikiki Beach, but a little ways away in a quieter area called Diamond Head. Also, I received 16,000 Southwest Rapids Rewards miles for our stay! Miles are always a great bonus. The hotel is situated near a large park. It is not right on the beach, but the beach is literally a two minute walk, on the other side of the hotel next door. We never had any difficulty finding a parking spot. The front desk staff were exceptional! Everyone we interacted with were very friendly, helpful, and upbeat. They offered lots of suggestions about places to eat in the area. Our favorite restaurant, by the way, was the Barefoot Beach Cafe, only a 7 - 10 minute walk from the Lotus. It had been recommended by another Yelper who had "eaten all her meals there." We ended up eating 90% of our meals there because the food was so good and the prices were reasonable. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but it was quite high end, so we did not give it a try. There is also a well-stocked convenience store at the hotel next door, in case you need water, snacks, toiletries, etc.Our room was very spacious and the air conditioning worked well. The room seemed to be soundproof. We could not hear our neighbors on either side of us. The bed was comfortable and there was a large TV in the room. The toiletries were "Lather", which is a great brand. The balcony offered a view of Diamond Head and a partial view of the ocean. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and bird-watching at dusk. There is an amenities fee, which covers parking, bike rental, beach chair rental, and yoga classes. I did not know about the yoga classes until I checked out the Lotus website. I was thrilled to receive a free private yoga session on Saturday in the park. It was really an awesome experience. They even provided a yoga mat! Just make sure you sign up with the front desk ahead of time. The only bummer was the lack of places to charge our phones in the room. Otherwise, we had a wonderful visit and would stay at the Lotus again."
"First time being here. Its a good place to stay for cheap. It is currently $35 a night. It is located near downtown Honolulu. It's not that busy around right now. Chinatown is a few blocks from there. There also a Walmart and Ross a few blocks from there. There is 2 Unions inside the building and a few blocks from the other union halls. A good place for Sailors to stay while looking for work. They require you to have an MMC, ID, and credit card/cash. The office is open from 8am-5pm, there an elevator nearby that takes you up to your room where you'll stay. They will give you a card and key. Card is for entering your room and the key is for entering the building outside of normal hours. The room have a twin bed with a drawer, a chair and little open closet. There a public restroom for men and women, each have a shower room. The shower room is two stalls that are open with cold/hot water (on the men side). They are very clean and well maintained, I would still suggest you wear shower slippers. There is a parking lot next to the Sailor Home. The parking lot is $8 an hour or $25 per day. There is a camera that log you entering the parking lot.No Smoking, Drinking Alcohol or Gambling inside.Breakdown: Nice and Well Maintain Rooms5/5Price: $35 a day.Required: MMC, ID and Credit Card/Cash PaymentNormal Hours: 0800-1700Good Location: Near Walmart/Ross and Chinatown2 Union Halls inside the Building and A few blocks from the Other Union Halls.Restroom, Shower and Kitchen AreaParking: $8 an hour or $25 per day.You must sign a rule and regulations paper stating that you will not drink or smoke or gamble on the premise.Smoking is allowed only outside at designated area.Breaking the rule will get you terminated from the Sailor Home."
"Another great stay! 2nd visit within 4 weeks. Never disappoints! Great location and friendly staff"
"I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, and it was nothing short of fantastic! The hotel's location is unbeatable, situated right across the street from the beach. As soon as you step out, you're immersed in the vibrant energy of Waikiki, with the iconic 1.4-mile boardwalk waiting to be explored. Shops, restaurants, and entertainment options are just steps away, making it the perfect spot for anyone looking to soak up the local culture. One of the highlights of my stay was dining at Morimoto's, the renowned Japanese fusion restaurant by Iron Chef Morimoto. The culinary experience was exquisite, showcasing the best of Japanese flavors with a modern twist. However, it's worth noting that the atmosphere can get a bit lively, especially at night. With a club on the lower floors that plays music until about 2 AM and the Marriott's nightly Luau across the street, the energy is palpable. If you're looking for a quieter experience, you might want to consider this.On the wellness front, the resort offers an impressive array of amenities, including water exercise classes in the stunning infinity pool and attentive table-side service for food and drinks. It's a great destination for fitness enthusiasts as well.Overall, Alohilani Resort is a vibrant and luxurious destination that attracts travelers from all over the globe. Whether you're looking to relax on the beach or dive into the lively local scene, this resort has something for everyone!"
