Pat K. "#5 rank out of 5.Of the 5 poke places we tried while on Oahu, this one was the lowest rank.Came in after the lunch rush, selection was small, but service was excellent.Food was subpar / mediocre - almost supermarket quality.Fish freshness tasted like defrosted frozen ahi - cuts were very uneven - large uneven chunks to tiny cubes.Taste was way too heavy/strong in sauces and therefore very salty.Tried: shoyu, limu and spicy. All were very salty - made me remove the dressing/sauce on the ride just to be able to eat it.At $26/lb it's too pricey for what you get.Tried their beef stew and katsu w/ garlic chicken plate - both were very salty as well.Beef stew was almost all fat - very little meat and one small piece of potato and carrot was all that was found.Had to take a anti-hypertensive medication after that meal.Would not return here."

Kyra K. "After our excursion to Kailua, we were on the hunt for lunch. Per Li Y's suggestion, we came to Uahi Island Grill! It was a great option to kick back, eat, and talk story. The restaurant embodies a local spot with a spacious inside area, beach decor, and a relaxed vibe to it. There's also outdoor seating. Plenty of seating for both spots for all party sizes. Service was slammed but we were helped throughout our meal and our food came out fast.We shared Furikake Calamari as our appetizer which came with a sweet spicy sriracha sauce. It was good but I couldn't taste any furikake which I was excited about. To order, I had the Kalua Pork and Kale while she got the Orange Duck Confit. The portions were quite large and I had half of mine. The kalua pig was super tender and juicy. The kale was great and honestly tops the typical cabbage. My only wish was that there was more kale! You could choose two sides, I went with White Rice and Mac Salad. I'd pass on the mac salad as it was too creamy while the white rice was just too much. There are plenty of eateries in Kailua but if you're looking for a laid-back spot for any meal, Uahi Island Grill is a good option. They're situated off Aulike Street with parking in the neighborhood, we parked in the public lot across the street."

Our waiter brought lavash, garlic butter and water for everyone and gave us a few moments to review the beverage menu. After our beverages were brought to the table, we ordered the French Onion Soup and Double Ribeye for two. The soup was absolutely delicious! We loved the puff pastry that was baked on top of the soup dish. The ribeye steak was really flavorful and big enough to fill everyone! Of course we had to save room for dessert so we bagged our leftovers and ordered the Cherry Jubilee.. OMG! This has to be my favorite dessert here.. the sauce is to die for! Needless to say, the dessert was devoured and everyone left full and happy. I highly recommend this restaurant! Seriously, they've perfected the garlic flavor--it's like they've bottled happiness and served it on a plate. Over the years, their spicy garlic chicken has become my undeniable favorite--it's got that perfect kick and flavor that keeps me coming back for more. And the generous portions? Let's just say one plate is a two-for-one deal. Meal now, meal later. Winning. And let me tell you, I never touch mac salad, like, ever. But somehow, Sugoi's managed to convert me. It's tastier, creamier, and just...better. I'll happily fork it down here. Other honorable mentions? Their salmon, mahi, and chicken katsu. It's a buffet of greatness. The only downside? Waging war with the chaos that is Dillingham Boulevard thanks to the rail construction. But hey, for that spicy garlic chicken fix? I'd brave a traffic apocalypse."

First impression: it was busy with customers the time we went, so I was already expecting the food to be good lol! There's also a good amount of tables outside and inside the store. Customer service was nice and fast -- after you order, you sit yourself and wait for your number to be called. So many good food choices on the menu, but we wanted to try their classic best seller! My partner ordered their Spicy Garlic Chicken mini plate with Kimchee Cucumbers and I ordered the Garlic Furikake Chicken mini plate with Tuna & Egg Mac salad and a Pink Guava Lilikoi Lemonade. First off, the side dishes were served in a big portion (which I loved). Second, the food was aesthetically pleasing and SOOOOO TASTYYYY!! We absolutely loved their garlic chicken and how crispy it was! & third, I personally felt the lemonade was good but I wish I could taste more of the pink guava/lilikoi flavoring in it, as it was more heavy on the lemon flavor. We were super full so we didn't get the chance to try their dessert, but hey, it gives us an excuse to visit again asap lol! Teresa L. "Oahu GrillDon't let the outside fool you, it is authentic! We were greeted by a very nice young lady from the Hanauma bay area. She quickly learned we were not locals and brought us several items of the Hawaiian variety to try. She explained each food item (Poi, Lomi Salmon, Squid Luau, Chicken Long Rice, and Kalua pig), provided the history and how it is typically eaten in Hawaii. They were all delicious. The Poi is more bland, but is a good balance with the Kalua Pig. Chicken Long a rice is the comparable to Chicken Noodle Soup, but with clear noodles and a little less salt. Squid Luau is very similar to Laing from the Philippines, made with coconut milk, Taro Leaves, and Octopus. Lomi Salmon is like having a fresh salsa with Salmon. For the main dishes we had pork belly and rice. The pork belly had more fat than what we usually eat at restaurants and was salty. The rice, well that's difficult to mess up. Most of the dishes had more salt than we would normally eat, but I think the food was authentic to Hawaii. The dessert was coconut flavored and delicious. The restaurant itself was pretty standard with regular tables and four chairs. It is located on the bottom floor with some window seats that looked out to the street. The building is an older building, but don't let that scare you if you're looking for good service. The best part of this experience was the server, she made us feel welcomed. To sum it up, I have mixed feelings only because of the salt level. If you are not watching your salt or like salty food, this place will be perfect. Gave four stars due to the service!"

I saw that there were only four people near the order counter so I drove into the lot.I recall seeing the restaurant closed a few months ago while they were re-paving the parking lot. There are a dozen parking spaces plus one ADA stall. I was taken aback because 8 of the 13 parking stalls were occupied. Why were so many parking stalls occupied if only 4 people were near the order counter and one of them was a child? Ah, I didn't see the 5 people eating at the six plastic tables on the right. When I went up to the order window on the left, a woman stuck her head out from the right window and asked what I wanted. Wow, quick service compared to last time. She took my order yet still, it took about 12 minutes for me to get my food. To be fair the seafood bento I ordered had a lot of different items which were cooked from scratch since they were all still warm when I got home and ate. So 12 minutes may be warranted. The food is always good but now that they have modified the ordering process, St. Louis Drive Inn has earned my respect."

"I would put this between 3 and 4, possibly because I had the wrong expectation so rounding up to a 4.I had eggplant tempura curry which was fine with a fairly crispy batter, but I would have preferred the eggplant plain or grilled without the fried coating. I also ordered a side of gyoza for protein that was OK although I really wanted a small protein that was not fried. The entree came with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of mac salad. Seems carb-heavy but that is standard for a lot of local places. I wished the menu could have offered a small side of steamed or braised vegetable of some sort.Service was friendly and prompt enough, the place was clean and the atmosphere was comfortable "like home." Weekday dinnertime on a Tuesday was calm, no waiting for a table. The small parking lot had only one open spot, lucky for me.I was really in the mood for tinola (chicken papaya soup), which I had at a previous location of Asahi Grill that closed and I thought it had moved here to Ward. But it turns out that this Ward one is a franchise with a slightly different menu. Anita C. "Monarch poke is a locally owned poke shop located at the Pearl Kai Shopping Center. My friend and I have been wanting to check this place out, but the last time we came, they were closed for cleaning/renovations. Parking available at the strip mall and bathroom located within their establishment behind their kitchen Service & Ambience: The owner worked the register the day we went and was super sweet. We told her it was our first time there, and she offered to give us samples of the poke before ordering. We sampled the inamona as it's their specialty. She also told us that all their pokes are made fresh daily from auction block tuna. It is not the largest place, ~5 tables (4-6 seats each) decorated with beautiful murals. We did feel a bit rushed to finish as it got busy and a lot of the other guests also wanted to sit down. TPrice: $$. Poke bowls and poke by weight are charged at market price for the day. On the day we went, it was ~$18-19 for a half pound, which is pretty standard pricing for fresh poke lately (getting more expensive lately) Food: My friend opted for Poke Nachos with 1/2 pound inamona, and I opted for a quarter pound of crispy garlic chili oil and a quarter pound of inamona The Inamona is made with green onions, onions, limu, and light sauce that doesn't overpower the taste of the fresh ahi. It was highly recommended by the owner and another family dining in the shop, and it did not disappoint. The Crispy garlic chili oil poke, however, was a bit too oily, and the crispy toppings became a bit soggy. It was still delicious with ample garlic and mildy spicy. I personally would have also liked to be a bit spicier. Overall, I'd recommended stopping in for some fresh poke"

First of all the ambience is really really really nice and welcoming. I then sat down at the table and I love how their chairs have a pillow. You can use it to sit against your back. We then got served water and the cups are super cute! It has this little picture of, I don't know what it is, but it was really cute! OH! And the fork! That had a design of a happy face across the prongs. It was funny because I didn't want to eat with my fork and then ruin the design on the fork or even damage it. But I need to use that fork to feed my face. LOL I ordered cold ginger, chicken, and a bowl of shrimp curry. The lady told me to do a combo instead so I did and I ended up having my cold ginger chicken with my shrimp curry and let me tell you that sucker is a winner! The shrimp had really good flavor. I think I had five pieces of shrimp and there is a huge piece of potato and a huge piece of carrot and OH MAN... that's how I actually love my stews and my curry is with large pieces of vegetables but it has to be super soft to wear if I poked my fork in it it actually slips right through the whole entire thing and that's what happened! That is why I'm very very pleased with my dinner tonight. Except for the ginger chicken sauce. That was a bit sour & smelt bad. I left on the side. My husband he had the garlic chicken and that was like really delicious served HOT! However, when he was eating his garlic chicken and it started to cool down, he said he could taste most of the saucy flavor which was really strong and overpowering. So I think if you're gonna order garlic chicken, you have to make sure that you eat it fast enough to where the food is still hot or take it home and then reheat it in the microwave. He also had a side order of large fries. And these fries are those fat fries and they cook it really good. They actually had it really crunchy and very crispy but yet still was soft so that's the best kind of fries when it's crunchy but yet soft on the inside. The only really disappointing thing for me was... They don't have Coke products! That's my only biggest issue. The fact that they don't sell Coca-Cola and I really need a Coke so bad. Hopefully they change to Coke cause everybody's switching from Pepsi to Coke now so , Coca-Cola is good guys! Finally, at the end of the night I just took some random pictures around the restaurant to show their place and how it looks. It's very cozy, but they did have a table set in the middle for big group and then tables and benches and chairs around the sides of the wall, which looks like it could fit about maybe 30 to 40 peoplE. They were having so much customers come in and ordering takeout. They were super busy! Obviously, this place is a really good place to eat at. A lot of people like it a lot and I can't say anything bad really just that they don't serve Coke. And I mean Coke as in the Coca-Cola product guys. They have so much choices it's WONDERFUL! They also have a menu outside the restaurant so people can view it as they walk past. They also have a little corner inside their restaurant where it's a waiting area for those who order to go. It's set up really nice and cute! I think my kids would love it if they had to wait for their order over there. My 3 year old baby would just sit and observe the decor.Oh! they do give you a 3% discount if you pay in cash. And then they have this card thing that if you spend $10 or more in cash you get a stamp and then I guess if you fill up a card, you can get a free gift or a prize or something. I totally forgot to ask for one of those stamp cards so I missed out on three stamps tonight. Yeah I know I wanted to go back in to ask for the card because it was a guy who cashed me out. And that guys name is FEI. I ended up asking him to take a photo for my yelp review and he was so nice he did it, but I think he forgot to give me the card because I probably distracted him. But NEXT TIME!Anyways, hope this review helps and hope you enjoyed my review. Okie dokes folks! Have a good one. Be safe! MALAMA PONO A HUI HOU...Birdie"

I never had tots that good before. My plate of food was so yummy! Fatboys has been around for years at Koko Marina, tucked in a corner next to Subway, it's a small spot. Now I cannot wait til next holiday to have another plate, Never-mind Lets grind again during my next cheat meal, I am going to be back for more!"
