Yvonne C. "The best food truck on Oahu. Must visit place if you travel to Hawaii. Menu is simple. They provided breakfast and lunch. I tried their signature boneless Kalbi before and it tasted delicious. Currently my favorite is their Furikake Crusted Salmon. OMG! It's freaking good. The salmon was very moist and flavorful. My parents always order their Peeled Garlic Butter Shrimp. They said it tastes better than Giovannis. In addition, DO NOT miss their pan-fried poke. It's exceptionally delicious.Very friendly staffs and fast service. There're 3 tables for people to sit down and enjoy the food. I heard they just bought the food truck from JOJA and renovated it. Overall- DO NOT miss this food truck in North Shore."

Melissa W. "The colorful food truck is parked in Pupukea next to seven brothers and a shrimp spot. There's lots of free parking in the adjoining lot. They boast Peruvian Japanese fusion from poke bowls and ceviche to healthier salads, but I feel the food misses the mark. I tried the spicy ahi bowl served over sushi rice for $16.50. The presentation was sloppy and underwhelming. The sushi rice is overly vinegar tasting. I'm not sure if the fish is prepared ceviche style? It has a kind of cooked outer texture which surprised me, differing from traditional local poke which is more smooth and fresh. The sauce itself was tasty though. My daughter and husband liked the yakisoba which was very saucy with crisp cabbage and veggies. The seating area has benches and tables and further down is a grass area for kids to run around. We came later toward 7pm so it got dark and the only light on the tables is a dim multicolored changing lamp. You'll be straining to see your food basically but bust out your phone light, it helps!Overall definitely don't recommend the poke here. Perhaps I should have tried ceviche."

The hubby decided to try their sweet chili chicken $17. The prices are a bit higher here in Waikiki. They gave a lot of chicken. I can't do spicy and thank goodness it wasn't spicy at all. It was on the sweeter side. It was yummy after just getting out of the fryer and being drenched in their sauce. It came with white rice, toss salad and a butter roll. I would eat here again, but looking for parking around this place is nuts."

We ate literally everything on the menu at some point during our week there. What we didn't enjoy: teriyaki fries, what we did enjoy: everything else.Sure, they're not a typical brick and mortar table service dine-in experience, they're just good food in an open air food truck market place mixed in with 10 or so other food trucks. If you're close enough to walk, bonus! We ate at the tables, we took it to go, we tried other food in the area but kept coming back here for more!Don't skip this place if you're looking for plant based and are in Waikiki!"

We decided to check out the food trucks at the other side of Lowe's and past the Petco. I haven't had Laverne's Hawaiian food in a long time. I've always purchased the Chocolate crunch and that never disappoints (I got it!) I love Kalua pig, squid luau and I wanted to try their chicken long rice (it reminds me on my parents food as they have both passed). I got the number 1 plate which came with haupia and Lomi salmon and paid cash (I found the price dropped a bit :)The gentleman at the ordering window greeted me with a smile and service was quick! Now the food! Omg so freaking yummy! The Kalua pig was not oily and very tasty and they gave a lot! The squid luau was a mouthful of squid in every bite and the chicken long rice brought me to tears! This area has a wide area of food trucks from Filipino, Thai, Shave ice, Taste Tea, the ever famous Leonard's malasada and Laverne's is perfectly located at the end closest to Petco. As long as the food is good - she is just taking my order and handing me food. Also!! It's not located inside the mall. It's WAY down toward the edge of the 99. Near where it was the old sears building is what I have been told by my local friends. Across the street you can see the T mobile and AT&T stores. It's just a little food truck and we are thankful we finally found the correct location. The tacos are delicious. They are smaller street sized tacos but are stuffed with meat. They have the perfect amount of cheese, onions and cilantro. We ordered the Mexican roulette and had so much fun. Then we found the firecracker and wowza. The flavor was so good but the heat burnt off all my taste buds. We all tried it. It's hot and not an enjoyable one. I could drink the consume. In fact I added it to a pack of saimin noodles with some lime juice. So technically... just do it. I'm sure their ramen here is also delicious but I just want noodles and broth no meat. Our next box we picked up we skipped the hiding hell fire and opted for a regular box. It's a crowd pleaser at my house."

We ordered our food and drinks and headed to the seating area. We ordered the lemonade, my wife loves extra tart lemonade, and they did not disappoint!-The foodMy crispy cheese and bacon dog was hot and delicious My wife had the BBQ kalua pork sandwich. There was a nice soft slow heat from the bbq sauce, and the slaw was sweet but not overpowering. The twice fried fries, were delicious and hot but not the crunch I was expecting from a twice fried fry. In their defense, it was very close to closing time and I think they had to cut new fries. We did have wait a bit to get them. AGAIN I and NOT mad at the fries, they were hot and delicious, just not as crunchy as I was expecting. Definitely worth a stop IMO"

During the evenings when we were in the studio working on our projects, we would walked across the street and order plate lunches here. Their schedule is pretty much up in the air where there were some days they were at UH and other times not. It's been awhile since I last had their plate lunches and was able to try once again since they were vending at Chinatown for the Lunar New Year festival. Mini Teppanyaki Chicken: My go-to plate. I used to order their steak but it was not fresh where the steak was weird tasting. The chicken was good. It was seasoned well and cooked thoroughly. The rice was also stir-fried and it was good with the sauce and it had some crispiness. The mini plate comes with corn and lettuce in it. I really like their teppanyaki sauce. It was delicious and tastes amazing with the chicken and rice. They used to include a side of their sauce in the plate for us to pour onto our protein, but now they already add it on top. I wished there were more of the sauce on the side. Overall, a good deal for some filling plate lunches. Their mini plate was enough for me and kudos to them that their prices haven't changed in 10 years. It takes me back to my college days."

I couldn't decide so I got her recommendation, adding boba. The tea was very refreshing and the boba plentiful. I appreciated that it comes unsweetened unless you request it to be more sugary. The shrimp scampi pizza was a little spicy, but it reminded me of the shrimp scampi pizza from bravos. A little suggestion.. maybe cut the shrimp into tiny pieces and spread it out on the pizza. The food is great but we missed our tour because it was to late.Location: It is located just before the entrance of Polynesian Cultural Center. The food truck is huge with lot of seatings everywhere. Service: there is a short line while ordering but long time to wait. We ordered 1pm thinking that we can get the food in 30 mins but we ended up getting it at 02:05pm. We missed our tour (2pm because of this). They are nice and apologetic but when a couple (caucasian) who has later number than us they prioritize them. Then people (indian and chinese) including us complained to them on why they make the couple food first than us, and we only heard sorry from them.Food: the food was great. We ordered seafood parcel which got everything. The fish and calamari was fresh, it was crispy and huge portions. It is also seasoned well. Well maybe we are just too hungry that we thought it was good, even my nephew said he was very hungry.Price rating: 7/10, amount is okay but with the waiting time, maybe ill just go somewhere else.If there is a chance I come back to their truck, i will still give them second chance, hoping they have faster service specially if mostly of the people eating there are on tours."

So happy I finally found a window of opportunity to make it to this food truck parked just before you approach the parking lot to Longs Mo'ili'ili on S King St. With only one item on the menu it makes it very easy for indecisive people like me to order. The only choice you have to make is whether you want a half chicken plate ($13) or a full ($22). The chickens are plump and moist on the inside. The outside is rubbed with a zesty blend of Peruvian spices that create an explosion of flavor that is hard to find in this part of the world. It comes with a yellow banana pepper sauce that is interesting but not necessary to enjoy your meal. As a local who is used to Asian sticky white rice, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the rice that comes with little kernels of corn.
