"I went to the Waimalu Plaza location. It was a holiday so it wasn't too crowded. As the time became closer to the brunch hour the line became longer. There were four people in our party, celebrating a friend's birthday. Three people ordered the Loco Moco and the last ordered an ordinary breakfast, scrambled eggs with Spam. Then to "family style" they ordered the Pancake & Waffle set AND the Apple Caramel Pancakes. They were all so delicious. Every time I've had breakfast. I have not been disappointed."
"Love this zippy's. Clean, bigger dining area and waitress was superb. Korean Chicken chili combo - 5 stars - although prices are going up everywhere, I love their crispy and sweet korean chicken. Goes great with their famous chili.Service - our waitress was excellent. Lots of parking, and enter though the backside from the main road."

"Breakfast in Kapahulu, Honolulu, Hawaii...Many people drive past Kaimana Farm Cafe, but have they ever dined there?Maybe the parking is an obstacle...Just go down the street and find the free parking lot by Waiola Shave Ice on Mokihana Street! This farm-to-table restaurant has a comfortable, casual, country feel with an Asian flair.Service was very pleasant and polite. We had a wonderful experience!I got the Hamburg plate which comes with 5 sides. I picked yuzu carrots, beets + orange, kale salad, rainbow hajiji, and Molokai sweet potato. Everything was tasty and creative! We also got an iced matcha Latte... it was refreshing and not too bitter! It felt healthy and looked picture-worthy!I'd go back again!Note: restroom is outside... ask for the key!"
"Food was great, but no service at all - the lady who took our order clearly didn't want to be there. And... $4 for a soda but no refill? I'd go back for the food though. Fried chicken and chili... yum!"
"I have eaten at big city diner multiple times but it was my first time eating at this location. When I have been to big city, I typically go to the one in town and haven't been to big city in years.I remember the portions being a lot larger in size in the past. I ordered the loco moco with fried rice. It was a decent portion size with good flavor. We also got wings with the bbq sauce and a burger for my nephews. Service was decent but prices have definitely increased since I last ate at big city."
"Aloha Ahiahi :) \000/....Updated Review, fast fwd to 6 yrs now....'2024Newer Owner lady Wahine, she's Cool! Wayyyyyyyyyy better Service here now, Hallelujah!! Lol. Bring a Jacket, cause it can get cold in here, well except during Hawai'i Warm Summer Months!!My Husband enjoys coming back here, all the time!! I'm assuming that he wants to try all the different dishes served here, I'm wondering?? Haha...The food here is pretty good, we like it && guess what, they now have Live Entertainment too!! I know for sure that they have live Entertainment on the Weekends & the performances is great!! They sing a bunch of *Hawaiian* Mele & other genres of Songs!! Kāmau \000/I've tried a handful of Ono dishes So far, aswell as my Husband also tried different dishes from here.***My Husband David, enjoys the *Chop Steak* from here. && he also enjoys, the Sizzling Tofu & Vegetable Platter also, the Gravy is the Bomb for that *Sizzling Tofu w/Vegetable* Platter. Super Yum!!And my Husband David enjoys, their *Fresh Corn Beef & Cabbage* too!! (Honestly!!), I enjoy my Husband homemade "Fresh Cornbeef & Cabbage" cooked at home with our *Insta Pot*, while he boils the Cornbeef for a few hours, then tosses the "Cornbeef, Cabbage & Veggies & Broth" all back into the Our "Insta Pot" for maybe an Hour or So, it's really Tasty, especially the Broth, made with the drippings from the *Corn Beef*, etc. Broke da mouth kine Taste :). I know for sure, I'm not ordering that in the Future, I mean it didn't taste bad or Anything, it just didn't quite taste like *Pork Adobo*, Imho. Our Wonderful Waitress, "Sua" asked me if Iiked it & I honestly told her, not really?!!! She even Apologized & asked me if I wanted *Vinegar* with my Meal, I replied, ooh No thank you!! I don't think that Vineyard would have made my *Pork Adobo* Food tastes any better?? Lol. Well, at least "Sua" tried to help with my Meal?!!?. I only ate maybe not even half of the Meat, but I did like the *Sparerib* tasting Gravy tho. Lolz!Lots of prkg here @Eagle Cafe, we'll all the times we've dined here for Dinner!!Clean & Spacious Restaurant, with, Grrrrrrrreat Service!!! But, "Sua" only works on the Weekends!!! She's So Super nice!!!"
"The current special was shared in Facebook. Shrimp tempura with furikake salmon for $17.95. It was quite good! Too much for me to finish so I brought some salmon home. Tempura was light and crispy but by the end it got kind of oily. It was still pretty good all in all. The young server Reese was great! He had to bus the table, take order, serve, refill water and tea, all by himself.... And he was very pleasant! I recommend it!"
"I had the Kim Chee fried rice and was not disappointed w the price nor the portion. We also ordered a side of meat Jhun to try and it was flavorful (there was a bit of sweetness in it and it was welcomed and good). There were a lot of regulars coming in and out of there. Service is friendly and quick. It has an older style diner feel to it and I enjoyed it."
"I Love Zippy's!Always a must go for me when i visit the islands. Korean Fried Chicken for me please. Clean, fast, Aloha. Do i need to say more? Open at 6am, got there at 6:05, already 10+ people there."
"Pleasantly surprised by this Zippy's! I've never been here although I've driven by hundreds of times over the years. My friend was hungry after registering her car at the Safeway kiosk (who knew you could do that) so off to her choice of eatery....Zippy's! Parking is tight and my sedan is not a compact and a lot of bigger vehicles were taking one& a half spaces. I was able to get a stall under the building and we took the elevator up to the dining room. Seated immediately by a young, politely engaging and very tall man who gave us menus including the Sushi Bar menu advising it wasn't available for another 15 minutes but just in case we wanted to order he left us to peruse and choose what we wanted while he got our drinks. He returned with our drinks and we placed our orders which were promptly delivered still hot and steaming. Remarkably he returned several times to check on us. If you've ever been to Zippy's you know why I found the remarkable. My experience has always been once the wait staff drops your food you don't see them until you flag someone down to bring a check. Food was typical Zippy's fare but the service elevated the experience to 4 stars. Nicholas, his name was Nicholas hi just found my receipt!)"
"Typical American diner environment. It was quie in the morning besides the elderly singles/families having their coffee/breakfast.I had 2x of the Kalbi Lunch Plates & 1x of the short stack pancakes. Total was roughly $66.Kailua town has the worst pricing due to the influx of tourists & inflation. These days it's comparable to Waikiki prices.Good: food was yummyMain hostess was nice.Food was quick 10-15minsBad: -small portions$26 for a kalbi lunch plate that came with small kimchee side, a dollop of cabbage and 2pcs kalbi and 1 scoop rice each plate.-lack of convenience/// please consider having your team ask for a customer's name & write it on their bag if its just left on the takeout table-idk her name but the 2nd girl working was obviously only helping me to grab my order when she was checking my receipt, she made sure to check for a tip (girl bffr,on a takeout order of 3 plates, with 2 being entrees) LOLs-the slowness effect of morning time visitors especially catering to elderly customers who want to talk story with each employee Note: I don't know why the BCD owners (if they're connected or not, I don't really know) didn't try harder to keep BCD Kaimuki open- because that location's cooks could really COOK. Even when it was busy and the wait time was little bit longer, it definitely left you feeling like it was worth the drive/wait for the food. They did charge $1 extra compared to Kailua location, but the portions were so worth the extra $1."

We've been here before, so e had a good idea a of what to expect. Service and ambiance were good. There was actually only a short line at 11 am on a Saturday, although the place was packed. We nabbed a table for 4 and our food came out pretty much at the same time. I'm only writing this to say I found their regular loco moco disappointing. Some of the rice was dry and even crunchy. The eggs. One seemed like half an egg it was so small. The yolk was meh, not quiiiiite runny. Between that and the crunchy rice I cannot even remember the patty or gravy. We'll be back though. Plenty other things there to like.

Our first time trying Zippy's. You see it all over Tiktok so we had to add this to our food lineup when we came to Hawaii. We came on a Tuesday afternoon. We came for brunch. They have their own parking lot so that was nice. Lots of diners already seated. We didn't wait at all and were seated in a booth right away. I had looked over the menu before coming and knew I wanted the oxtail soup if it was being served when we visited and IT WAS!!!! Broth was piping hot and so rich in flavor. My large bowl was packed with at least 5 medium to large pieces of oxtail and a ton of bright green choi sum and cilantro. It came with rice but you almost don't need it. Shared with my son whom I knew would want to even though he ordered his own meal. Portion is definitely enough for two. Also came with a side of ginger you could add to your liking. My eldest son ordered eggs, hashbrown and toast. My youngest son ordered the veggie omelet with hashbrown and toast. We were all very happy and full when we left. We will be back to visit!

Definitely very fresh. For the big plate you get to choose one main, 5 sides and a choice of rice, brown rice, salad or half rice half salad. I decided to choose the 6pc garlic shrimp with yuzu carrots, Brussels, kale salad, lotus root and Molokai sweet potato. I also chose half rice half salad. My favorites were the kale salad, lotus root, and Brussels. The yuzu carrots were a bit too sweet although very different and pretty good. The Molokai sweet potato isn't as sweet as Okinawan sweet potato. The half salad had an odd dressing. The garlic shrimp was a bit disappointing. They used heaps of jarred minced garlic which I personally do not like at all. All the plates range from $20-$23 I believe. The garlic shrimp plate was not worth it since fresh garlic wasn't used. You would think a farm to table cafe would use fresh garlic. The hamburger steak was pretty good they added shredded carrots and was definitely different than most places. Another side that was really good was the curry potato salad. The service was nice and friendly. The cafe was nice and had a "farm cafe" vibe. It did take quite awhile as a group of tourists ordered while we were still deciding. Was only one Japanese guy cooking in the back and a girl working the register and helping when she could. They have 12 sides and of all the sides I tried I would recommend the Brussels, curry potato salad, lotus root and kale salad.

Zippys is always a must have when in Hawaii! They have a variety of different items to choose from like loco moco, Korean fried chicken, saimin, and their famous chili! They have so much more but these are my favorites. The staff is always so friendly when we come in. It's a chill place to either come in to eat or even take out.

I would have normally rated this place 1 or 2 stars, especially for service by one of their waiters, but their manager handled the issue in the right way, thereby an average 3 stars. The issue - UberEats menu for Big City Diner (BCD) didn't match BCD's menu for the item Uncle Danny's Fried Rice. UberEats description for the plate I ordered includes two eggs over Fried Rice. BCD gets the order as just Fried Rice, no eggs. Of course I want what I paid for.Their waiter guy with a beard who attempted to handle this situation indicated that it was my problem with UberEats, not theirs'. I would have to pay extra if I wanted the eggs. He should not have tried to step in for the manager. If I ever come here again I will definitely make sure he will not be serving me. Props though to the manager lady who recognized that the problem is between BCD & UberEats, not the customer, me. She made sure that my order included the eggs that were advertised in their menu.As for the food, I would add that the Fried Rice was not up to par. The fried rice was a bit dry & a bit bland. I would not order this again.

Takeout Breakfast from Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawaii...I needed some fuel to pep myself up. I searched my Yelp app and found Waipahu Cafe. It's the end unit of the strip mall part of Waipahu Shopping Plaza. Korea Foody is to the left of Waipahu Cafe. There's lots of free shared parking. Inside, the cozy, old-school diner has about four counter seats and four booths. Service is efficient and frank. Example: I was asked what kind of rice I wanted. I answered, "Brown."The woman said that brown rice wasn't available. I asked what kind they had.I didn't understand her reply, but I answered, "White rice".Maybe she offered fried rice and was trying to upsell? I'm not sure.I waited a bit and glanced at the open kitchen. There was a guy and a gal working the grill - great teamwork!I had ordered the Salmon plate. It was alright. I've had better, but I appreciated the presentation - the Salmon was topped with Sautéed onions and some chopped green onion. There was a half wedge of lemon in a small container. The rice was okay, and the macaroni salad had tiny bits of chopped onion and carrot. It was on the liquidy side. This wasn't "cheap eats", but it was convenient and satisfying. I'd try some other menu items next time... like Fried Rice Omelet or Miso Butterfish.

"This is like the fast food Denny's of Hawaii. I absolutely love this place. It was so cute. It was a quick spot to get moco loco, when I go back to visit, this will definitely be on my regular rotation to stop in. It was a fun cool quick place to get a cheap meal for the whole family. We all got very full at the food was great. Customer service was great."
"We live in the area and often stop in for a quick bite or just getting some ice cream. It is a small business and if you're not watching, you could miss it. Make sure to look for it. Easy way to spot it is look for the Elvis Presley statueout front. Unfortunately, somebody bought the Marilyn Monroe one, but Betty Boop has taken her place. The ice cream sundaes and bananas splits are the best. Check out the memorabilia and enjoy the atmosphere."
"Happy National Chili Day...Yup that's today along with National Strawberry Day and a special recognition for me as well with meeting up with a friend for lunch made it kinda special day and as I drove around like a mission needed to be done I decided to stop at Zippy's and this Ewa location does have a special place in my heart. With a much needed break this I stopped here since they do have lots of free parking and super easy access from either direction you're coming from and the vibe here is relaxing as the dining room is nice and clean, the service here is just so friendly as I jumped to order my regular chili on white rice and it was beanless for me (they have vegetarian as well) and the special was 25% which is huge and who could you some savings...me!You can enjoy their famous chili in so many other ways as mine is on top of spaghetti, but there are Chili Hot Dog, Chili Burger, or just a Chili Plate whatever your cravings they can do it and am so happy to have the lucky timing to enjoy this famous chili on their special day.Thank you!"
"Decent dinner and great desserts! They do an okay job with all the local favorites, like chili, teri beef sandwich, and won ton mein. It's good and satisfies the craving, but not some place to go out of your way for. Service in the dining room is always friendly, so we enjoy that aspect.Where this place shines is the desserts. My favorite is the dobash cake that is decadently rich while being moist and airy, I could eat almost half the smaller cake if no one was watching. Rainbow cake is also good, and all their pastries are worth trying."
"Newly Remodeled looking - or the first time I seen it like this. I used to come here back in the days but mostly would eat outside on my commute to work from Makaha to Downtown - So out of character to eat by myself for lunch but I was so hungry and had back to back meetings and it's a Friday so I treated myself to a zipmin, double garnish and fried chicken.the lady was friendly and attentive. haven't eaten inside in a while so noticed a different menu - it was a two sided menu that was longer than the previous menu but less bulky lol more simplified. Wish they had club sandwich to go though. with tip it did cost me a little over $30! which I guess is the going rate and I was veryyy full! it was nice and cleanI like that you can pay via qr code on the table - I did forget to add my zipster rewards - not sure how to let the server know?! anyways - will be back again!"
"Oh my grill. Mccully shopping center location. Just reopened. Located near Curry house and 711 on first floor. There are additional parking in basement. Parking can be challenging on first floor. Ordered:Chicken katsu plate special, $9.99(Includes rice and macaroni salad)Garlic fish plate, $14.95(Includes rice and macaroni salad)Fish and chips, $11.95(2 pieces fried fish, good)(Fries were overcooked, dry)Prices are good, portion are big.If you pay cash you save 3%, also there is a stamp card for cash paying. One stamp for each $10 cash purchase. Mccully location is having their grand opening soon. Highly recommend."
"Revisiting the east side of the island with my friend, I decided to eat at Zippy's at the koko marina center. Sadly, the dining area is closed as well as the bathrooms at Zippy's. There is a bathroom, but it is at the building on the left side of zippy's on the second floor of the building, next to the florist.Food was the same as other zippy's, fresh and fried chicken was crunchy. Even though it was outside, we could eat our lunch in peace having it next to the pier with a scenic serene view of the ocean.Service was fast, but tables were a bit dirty, and a table also didn't have a tabletop, and at least there weren't bird turd since there is a sign posted "don't feed the birds," but there was a dove that was persistent in hanging near our table even if we tried shooing it away."
"Shout out to the team that worked the Halloween night shift. It was around 830 pm we placed our phone order and when we got there it was totally packed. Long line but a majority was waiting for orders up. As the time passed by for the next 5-10 minutes the team that worked the front pick up area was on a roll, plates and drinks were being completed and called out. No one was fussing or frazzled. It was awesome watching each of them hustle plus the back of the house. It was pretty cool. Our order was called and had no problem with our order and we were ready to head home and enjoy the Las Vegas Plate, mini Korean chicken and mini spaghetti with garlic bread. Great job to you guys! Mahalo Zippys Waipio!"
"Excellent customer service! We were asked to check in at the front of the restaurant when we arrived, and were brought to our table shortly after. Breakfast ended at 10:30am but since we arrived at 10:33am, we were given the breakfast and brunch menu. I ordered the two eggs breakfast with a hamburger patty as my meat, and I substituted the rice for a roasted macadamia nut pancake. Since the pancake was a specialty pancake, there was a slight up charge for it. My husband ended up getting the Teri hamburger steak plate that came with fried rice and vegetables. When the plates came out, my food was done perfectly, but my husband's hamburger was not cooked to his liking. Our waiter immediately apologized and took his plate back to the kitchen to be fixed. We waited for a while and his plate came back newly made and cooked perfectly! My pancake was absolutely delicious, and I would definitely come back for it. The rest of the food was okay, still delicious but not as good as the pancake. We'll definitely be back to try other menu items."
"Don't know why there is hate on this place, went there many times, service was top notch, no wait times, the place was clean, bathrooms clean the workers were super nice. The food came out with better presentation than I expected. I had the large wuntun min, and we had veggie chilli and a pancake. It was all good and we ate every last bite.Definitely would come again. To finish it off we had a mochi donut and 2 glazed donuts. Tastes great!! and very affordable"
"I've passed by Zippy's Kailua a number of times but never had the chance to go to their dine-in restaurant until my girlfriend and I went on a Friday evening. Service is alright, but was still moderately slow despite the fact it was not very crowded at the time of our visit. Anyways, Zippy's has some wonderful menu items and food! There is usually plenty of parking available but can fill up quickly during peak periods."
"Tiana was crazy spectacular. Her service was unmatched and very impressive. She mighty have be the Virgin Mary . My cup was always full before I could ask for more freshly brewed ice tea . My food came out hot and ready for me to kaukau kanaka attack small kine. Her smile just was so welcoming. If you want ultra ultimate 5 star service go to Zippys Waipahu and ask for Tiana she's the one . Call and. Book for a table first she's in high demand. Take care all my peeps out there and spread the positive love to each other and go see my girl she going take care you many blessings peace I'm out"
"Next Stop...riding the Skyline! For a limited time Zippy's was giving free limited edition HOLO Card with purchase of their Skyline Pac to celebrate the start of our city's Skyline though these were offered only at four location which Dillingham was one.Thinking I had the date wrong as there was no signage I asked if they had it and was told yes by the staff whew! I did arrive early to be sure and to avoid traffic which worked out perfectly. The Skyline Pac has half a piece of hotdog, four pieces of Portuguese sausage and Korean fried chicken all on a huge bed of rice all my favorites in one and it was so yummy!!Dillingham location is so convenient as it's accessible from many backroads even with the all the Skyline construction and with lots of parking not a problem to show them some love. Lots of seating and the open air vibe makes it a cool place to chill and enjoy. Thank you!"
"First stop straight from the airport. Nothing like good old Zippy's to satiate you after a long travel day. This specific one is in Kalihi - away from the hustle & bustle of the more touristy locations. They do not have the dine in restaurant side, but you can order from the counter and sit wherever you please. Small bakery selection of cakes & donuts as well. Korean fried chicken is my favorite here. The plate comes with chicken, mac salad, & rice - option to get a mini size too. Their chili fries, loco moco, musubi, & saimin are delicious. The best bang for your buck are the mixed plates - all the favorites in one plate for $16, easily shared between two. Huge menu, it's difficult to narrow it down especially when you want to try it all. Check out their daily specials for some deals. We love the food here. Excellent customer service. Affordable & delicious meals. ...but why is the oxtail soup $30 for an order? Wanted to try but that's quite expensive for a diner entree, maybe next time."
"Lunch in Kaimuki, Honolulu, Hawaii...My friend, Marlina from New Jersey, remembered going to Zippy's when she attended the University of Hawaii with me back in the day. I knew she wanted to go to any Zippy's location, and this one (on the corner of Waialae Avenue and 7th Avenue) was convenient. The only downsides were that: 1. it has outside dining only (not pleasant for people from the mainland because of our humidity, even in January) and 2. a sketchy individual was hanging around, took a nap at one of the tables, and went in the restroom. He knew the code! After seeing that, we went to Kahala Mall for their restroom. Marlina enjoyed her Saimin, and I got my standard chili (with beans), brown rice, cheese, and onions. We sat under one of the fans for maximum cool temperature. We were grateful for the free parking, efficient, friendly service, and happy food memories..."
"Islander drive-in in Wahiawa has been here over 20 years. The employees are as nice as can be. The restaurant has plenty of seating and is clean. The service is quick and the food is good. It's somewhat off the beaten path if you're visiting, but only a quarter-mile off of Kamehameha highway. If you're looking for home style local food. This is your place."
