"Eight years later, I still love love love the food. The manapua, siumai, half moon....oh heck, EVERYTHING, is STILL exceptional. The charsiu-su is the flakiest, most flavorful, and no shortage of filling, baked good there is. Shrimp chips are so fresh. Still a very wide selection of seeds. There are several ladies taking orders with pay counters at both ends of the display case.My issue is with the amount of customers allowed inside. They used to only allow 2 people in at a time. At one point, there were 10 people INSIDE, making it very difficult for those that paid, to get out. Also, there should be a system for phone order pickups. Customers are so rude by pushing their way in and shouting to anyone who would listen, they need their order. I got shoved to the corner and couldn't even complete my order. Trying to make my way to the counter was extremely challenging. Customers would also reach past my face and point at things while shouting in Chinese. No manners. Luckily, Doordash delivers."
"We ordered thier special dish, the pickled cabbage stir fried Intestine! We love it,recommend to try!!Definitely will go back to try other dishes."
"Dew Drop Inn is a charming, hole in the wall place offering delicious northern Chinese food. We drive past this all the time and finally decided to take the chance last night. Food/Drink: BYOB a plus. 4.5/5All dishes were delicious! We ordered:+Shanghai Pork Meat Buns ($24.95) - this was a large portion and great to share with table. Similar to Manapua - but this is crispy on the outside and filled with juicy pork inside. Served with the a side of black vinegar sauce. A must! +Orange Beef ($18.95) - this was my favorite dish of the night. Perfectly crispy pieces of fried beef, covered in the most authentic orange sauce. Puts Panda Express to shame! +Crispy Roast Duck - Half ($23.95) - Flavorful and juicy - but not as crispy as I thought. Served with hoisin sauce. Delicious. +2 Bowls of white rice ($2 each) Always need rice to accompany meat dishes! Value:For the large portions and high quality, It was sure worth it! We did have some leftovers, which he boxed for us with a side of black vinegar sauce. Service:Not only was the food amazing, but the service was equally as good. What sets this place apart from most Chinese restaurants is the service! Only one young friendly male server working the front as taking orders, delivering dishes, and tending to all customers. He was attentive throughout our dinner and checked in on us appropriately. Wait:It was very busy with mostly locals dining, but surprisingly we only waited about 15 minutes for a table. I'd call and make reservations if you planned to come in a larger group. Lots of takeout orders as well. Location/Parking: The con: location! There's a very small lot located in the right side, with only a few spots and mostly street parking. None were available, so we had to park a few streets over and walk. Very busy street. We would definitely come back again in the future!"
"I've been coming here for years, and my picture is still on the wall! Even after moving off the island, I make sure to visit every time I'm back. My family loves making me jealous with photos of their meals here .The hot pot is always amazing , and the service is so kind. I'll definitely be back again! Recommended broth: ThaiTomYum"
"This is my good to place for Chinese when I'm at Kaneohe. The parking is tight when it's busy. My favorites is Chinese chicken salad, eggplants with pork, bird nest soup and the black beans with clams. Service is great. It's a mom and pop restaurant. Love the food there and thinking of driving down to pick up some awesome Chinese. The place is clean and they have restrooms. If you're at Kaneohe go check them out. Pick up some pecking duck and gau gee to go also."
"Amazing authentic Chinese cuisine. Please support this beautiful restaurant. Customer service is A1."
"A fellow foodie who I've known for over 10yrs via Yelp Hawai'i recently moved from 808 to 702 and our foodie group wanted to get together one last time before she flew out. She chose Hawaii Pot Shabu Shabu House (HPSSH), located on the 1F of 808 Center.HPSSH opened back in 2007 with the concept of combining Chinese and Japanese cooking styles. Basically they offer hot pot and you can also cook your meats shabu shabu style. For you big eaters out there, HPSSH is AYCE that offers unlimited, assorted fresh ingredients, including various kinds of noodles, proteins, and locally sourced vegetables. Dining here is quite simple: 1) select your soup base; 2) pick your meats; 3) pick items off their conveyor belt and their chiller refrigerator; and 4) create your personalized sauce at the sauce bar. There was an impressive list of soup bases and was so tempted to try their coconut chicken but ended up "chickening out" as I was afraid the broth wouldn't appeal to me. I then asked my foodie friend for her suggestion as she's been here before. I followed suit by also ordering their tom yum soup broth. You get to order 2 plates of meat each time, where I started off with beef ribeye and lamb. I then made my way to the chiller and was impressed with a large selection of proteins, mostly raw seafood, dumplings and hot pot favorites. My eyes locked on book tripe, which I absolutely enjoy. I also got some whole shrimp, fishcake tofu, stuffed fish balls and bean curd sticks. While my broth was boiling, I made my way to their sauce bar and was so happy to have found Chinese ginger and onion sauce. I added a whole bunch of chopped Chinese parsley, chili oil and for a spoonful of their house special sauce. I headed back to my table and added the fishcake tofu, stuffed fish balls, bean curd sticks, as well as fresh mushrooms and long rice that I got off the conveyor belt. When my broth came to a boil, I started to add the sliced raw meats and ate. I was impressed of their food quality and me being able to control my meat temperature. I hate overcooked meats as I'm not a fan of dry proteins. My dipping sauce paired well and I was a happy camper. I was also impressed with the large bowls of snow crab legs but because it's a hassle to eat and didn't want to get my hands all dirty I passed on them. I made the mistake of sipping the broth as it was super, super HOT. I semi burnt my tongue. Aiyah!!! Should have known better. The book tripe was delicious, as well as whole shrimp where I ended up eating the shell and all. They also offer rice, which I declined as to save stomach space.Service was a little spotty. The wait staff on the floor are non-English speaking natives where there was some confusion and disconnection during our meal. They were blunt with explanations and a little aggressive which I didn't really care for. Although I enjoyed my experience, I did find the layout of the restaurant somewhat awkward with narrow walkways. Foot traffic was passing our table and because I sat on the outside, I could feel motion on my right arm as someone passed me.Overall, a great first experience as I was able to see my friend one last time before she relocated to 702. Food was tasty and I wouldn't object returning, especially with our weather getting cooler, which would be great for hot pot/shabu shabu."
"Honolulu Restaurant Week Dinner...We hit a jackpot!I originally wanted to dine at Khan Skewer Restaurant because my Yelp friend, Andy, checks in at this establishment so much that he is The Duke! It must be good, right? Our group of nine decided to celebrate "Friendsgiving" and agreed to try Khan Skewer Restaurant. The day we selected happened to occur during Honolulu Restaurant Week, so we got a DEAL!!!For 2 to 3 people, the set menu was:Edamame with Garlic Mushroom Medley 3 Skewers each of Pork Belly, Wagyu Beef, Maui Venison, and LambEggplantDeep fried Chicken Tenders Scallop with vermicelli Snow Fluffy Milk Ice - we chose peach flavor Each set came with 2 bowls of white rice... which was more than enough! Note: There were two condiments: red chili powder mix and a pineapple hot sauce... i gave mine away! The gals sat together and ordered "no spicy".We were stuffed!Everything tasted great and had wonderful presentation! The place was clean; the service was attentive;the restroom was convenient; and the parking was FREE!They were so nice to allow us to place our cake in their refrigerator, bring it out on a platter with a candle, and play a Happy Birthday song on the PA system! We had a wonderful time with fond memories! Thank you!"
"Worked late at the office and wanted to get a quick bite at the Honolulu Skewer House. Made a call to see if they had a table for two. Luckily they were able to accommodate us! Best to call ahead, gets busy with the younger crowd. We ordered a variety of the skewers: beef tongue gizzard tofu salad pork belly pork enokiLambbeef tendon Great service, fun and casual atmosphere! We had fun cooking all our skewers. It's a nice cooking mechanism that allows your skewers to be cooked at table side. Allowing you the opportunity to eat everything hot! We really enjoyed the House Tofu Salad! Stuffed pork sliders were delish and wanted more of the Scallion Pancakes! Everything was delicious! We were stuffed. Have to come back again to try other menu items! Nice touch and we appreciated the complimentary tanghulu dessert!"
"Takeout Dinner in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii...Looking for a quick meal nearby, I searched my Yelp app and found Garden Island Café. I was relieved to see reviews from my friends, Jo Y., Fran C., Gail U., Marisa G., Iris T., Serena M., Julie T., Alice N., and Jace T. They're trustworthy Yelpers!Free parking was a breeze. Inside, several customers were waiting in line for their orders. The competent, friendly cashier interacted with each person politely and efficiently!I got the two daily specials at $10.25 each: Garlic Fish and Beef Broccoli. The "to-go" bag was ready in no time. When I opened the boxes at home, I was surprised at the generous amount of beef broccoli - filled to capacity! The garlic fish was delicious! I was really happy with the food and service! I look forward to returning and getting the next weekly special!"
"We usually have the jjajangmyeon here, which is very good. However, I remember my wife ordering a noodle soup for me once, which I really enjoyed. She doesn't refer to the menu, she just orders what she knows they have.I arrived here after work on Friday, hoping to get reacquainted with that mystery noodle soup. My first time ordering off the menu, so I picked the most likely candidate, "NOODLES WITH SEAFOOD & SOUP." I asked the server what the name of the soup was in Korean - "samseon-myeon." It seemed like what I had before, but I think my wife had ordered a separate, special sauce to mix in, which enhanced the flavor. I wasn't able to recreate my original experience, but it was still pretty good. For comparison, I ordered a second dish, "NOODLES WITH SPICY SOUP & SEAFOOD" - "jjamppong" in Korean. This was clearly not what I had before, but I enjoyed it even more than the samseon-myeon. The combination of noodles and seafood in the rich, savory broth needed no enhancement. This was a delicious, filling dinner accompanied by the usual side dishes and hot tea. The service was great, and I appreciated how they patiently answered my questions - even showing me how to write the names in Hangeul.https://www.facebook.com/share/p/9vszBEqPe56RkL25/?mibextid=oFDknk"
"Mana oh man! I haven't gone to Chun Wah Kam in years! We were hungry after walking around the swap meet and I really wanted some Mana Pua. We stopped at Chun Wah Kam on the way home. They only had steamed Char siu Mana pua left and a handful of flavors of the minis. So I ordered 4 regular steamd plus a few sweet potato and kalu pig minis too. Had to also add in a bunch of pork hash and gau gee too! Although everything by the each is decent in price, it can add up pretty quickly when buying for multiple people and ordering when you're really hungry! Lol.Service is super fast and friendly, and very helpful. Most people just come here to take food out, but there are a few tables available to dine in too. Next time I come, I need to remember to add some steamed rice cake to my order."

We went here twice on our trip. According to the locals, this is the place to come to for great baked goods. The standouts here were the custard egg tarts and the custard bun. I would skip the bbq pork buns. There was too much fat on the meat inside. Line is shorter on the weekdays. Weekends, the line is long. Anything under $10 is cash only. Credit cards can only be used after you buy over $10+.This is a buy and go situation with nowhere to sit. We grabbed our items and ate it back at the hotel.

I finally made it back to Fun Station after 2 years; this time, I came with my extended family. Decorations inside have remained the same; however, the arrangement of the tables has since changed. Tables are now arranged along the 2 sides of the walls with the ones on the left being larger to seat bigger parties like ours (6 people) . Since my last visit, a lot of changes have occurred, mostly positive. Pros: Service was better during this visit. Our party of 6 was promptly seated, and as they saw that my relatives were on the older side, they offered to take our entire menu manually. Food came out pretty quickly, and our waitress was attentive, refilling our tea/water. The new menu now offers more variety, such as plates, soups, fried rice, and not just noodles/"fun." They also now have daily specials for different days of the week. Cons: The menu was reimagined, and many of the items from the old menu were no longer available. My family enjoys noodles with beef intestine, and I had told my family about the bowl I tried here, but we were a bit disappointed that it was no longer available. This is understandable as some of the toppings in these offerings may not be as popular with locals/non-Chinese customers. They still offer their "flying" noodles, but less to choose from. Price: $$: Still moderately priced for the portion sizes. Smaller portions than at larger Chinese restaurants but still quite generous portions. Their weekday special seems like a great deal, with each one being only $13.50. Food: Our family ordered various dishes to share, including beef chow fun, Beef Brisket Tendon Fun in soup, minute chicken cake noodles, Handmade fishcake and fish ball in soup, brine mix plate, and sweet and sour pork. The beef brisket tendon fun was our favorite. The noodles were topped with veggies, beef brisket, and tendon. The minute chicken noodles were super crispy and had lots of chicken and choi sum. The brine mix plate portions were generous for each type of meat. Their beef chow fun and sweet and sour pork plate was pretty good and comparable to larger Chinese restaurants. The handmade fishcake and fish ball in soup with noodles was the only underwhelming dish. The fishcake and fish balls were pretty bland, and portions of these seemed smaller compared to the amount of brisket/tendons for our other noodles. Overall: Solid option for some quick Chinese food/noodles if you're in the area with family. The flying noodle gimmick isn't new anymore but still photographs beautifully

Dew Drop has been at the same location since the 80s. It's one of the very few local mom and pop restaurants that I like going to. The owner Charlie and wife, Becky, cook up Taiwanese dishes with a local taste. The dumplings are good as well as their ground pork sesame bread pockets. Finish your meal with some black sesame balls. This is a small restaurant seating around 25 people comfortably, but can probably pack 35 diners. Becky runs the front of the house and Charlie does the cooking. Their son Jimmy helps out both in the front and in the kitchen. They have a parking lot next door to the restaurant that has space for 8 cars. If that is full your option is street metered.

Came on a weekday and the ambiance was very chill. The workers are very attentive, friendly, and cute. The music is also cute, all the KPOP jams! There is a self-serve bar with veggies and sauces for everyone to grab. I love the ability to make my own sauce. There is also a fridge with seafood and extra items you can put in your pots that's included in the AYCE. This is one of my favorite hotpot places on the island

Decided to come here while we wait for our girl finish prom. We walked in at 730 (they close at 830) it was SUPER BUSY, but we were seated within 5 mins on the very last open table in the whole restaurant. They took our order immediately and our food came out so quick and tasted so fresh. We brought my sister and BIL as they never tried this place out and we like their food. Really there wasnt anything wrong with any of our food we ordered and everyone in our group enjoyed it. Here is what we ordered:Kau yuk: this was a little tough, but still so good Bao bunscake noodle gau gee char siu fuyoungorange chicken fried rice chicken egg plant (THIS WAS DELICIOUS) Customer Service was AMAZING. These workers here have a system and it works for them and for us as customers. If you're in Kaneohe and wanting Chinese, I highly recommend coming here :))

We live here now, I guess?Sadly, our formerly favorite neighborhood Chinese has been sold and just isn't the same. For you Kaimuki folks, yes I'm talking about Duk Kee, and yes, I understand that the owners of Golden Eagle actually bought out the former owners of Duk Kee.However, the food here is so much better. Which is sad for us because we loved Duk Kee and it's closer to home, etc. But the menu is different here! And there are certain things that are unique to G.E. (ahem, honey walnut *eggplant* for you non-shrimp-eating people). Actually it was the eggplant that brought us back here. It's a delicate, but yet very crispy crunch. We also ordered the sweet sour cabbage with pork and minute chicken cake noodles. These noodles taste good and were pretty crispy even though they were covered in that minute chicken sauce. Yeah, everything we had was good. The staff seemed slammed, though. We went for a semi-early dinner and almost immediately after being seated, like 5 or more parties came in. So service was not the fastest, but still totally fine.Parking has changed here recently if you haven't been to the Old Stadium Mall in awhile. It's a decent sized lot and parking is free in the lot for 1 hour, but after that you have to pay using a QR code? I'm not sure exactly how they're monitoring this, but we've seen an unmarked car come by, take pictures of cars and leave a ticket, so beware. None of the shop owners (I've asked others in the same strip mall and gotten different answers) seem to know for certain whether or not you need to scan that code even if you're only staying less than 1 hour? G.E. has an enlarged version of the QR at the entrance for your convenience.Anyway, definitely try out Golden Eagle! I want to test more of the standards next time - chow fun or fried rice, pork chops, maybe kau yuk or some soup. I heard the gau gee is amazing too.

We came here on a whim, craving hot pot but not trying to wait in a long line. What a score to find this place! It wasn't crowded (secret didnt get out yet or we got lucky) so we were seated right away. Everyone was so nice, the service was quick, and the staff even showed some love to our noisy little girl. It was one the most calming eating experience we have had with an energetic toddler in tow. Quiet enough to feel peaceful and enjoy conversation but not too quiet where we were worried about our little one making too much noise. The options for veggies, side meats, noodles, and mushrooms! Were endless. I love how we had so many options to choose from and the conveyor belt made it easy to pick what you want without waiting for someone to bring the dishes like other hot pot places. Excited to go back here again!

The other night some of us friends celebrated someone birthday at Khans. Khans took over the old location of AGU ramen located next door to St.Louis alumni hall on Isenberg St.It was resturant week so we all ordered a set menu for 3 . Came with an appetizers, 4 types of skewer , scallops, egg plant and a mushroom medley and dessert all to share .The skewer consists of Beef, Pork belly, Lamb and Venison. My favorite was the Pork Belly. I would definitely go back again but I would try something different next time Support local , service was great and there's parking available.

"Food has improved since being taken over by the Golden Eagle people.Service placing a phone order is kind of inconsiderate. Some portions are good, some are crazy small."
"In all honesty, I was hesitant about eating lunch from here, but boy oh boy, what a pleasant surprise it was!My office mate was going to pick up lunch again today, would we like anything? We couldn't find a menu on Yelp or online so I guessed thinking what most Chinese food restaurants would likely serve.I ordered (1) Roast Duck or Roast Pork; (2) Beef Broccoli; and (3) chow funn. We got a phone call from our office mate that we needed to make other choices so I selected Zucchini and Chicken in lieu of my first guess. When our orders arrived, one of our group stated that she was gonna eat half and take the other half home to her daughter. But by the time she dug in, she realized that it was so good that she loudly declared that there shall be no leftovers for her daughter, sorry daughter!I had to agree with her. I too spooned out half the plate anticipating being able to finish the remainder at home only to feel sad about not allowing myself to finish the rest. So I did. I bravely finished the rest and thoroughly enjoyed it :DThere was way more zucchini than chicken but the taste was fabulous. The beef in the beef broccoli was soft and delish and the broccoli was still a bit crunchy. The noodles were al dente and very yummy! My friend surprised us with some rice cake which is sweetened rice made into a spongy, fun, flat, thick cake. It was really good!My office mate said the restaurant ppl were a little annoyed about having to wait for us to decide what to switch orders to. It would be helpful if they updated their online menus. My friend is not a Yelper and forgot to snap a photo so next time I'm there, I will take a photo and post it.I can't be sure but the take out plates at first seemed large and on second thought might not be the typical large take out plate. In fact, I think they might be just a little smaller. Whatever the case, they do pack their plates filled to the brim! Plus, the dishes are delish!! I will no longer feel sad about eating here!! :D"
"We haven't been here in SO LONG but it was just as good as ever! The prices were pretty reasonable for the quantity of food you get too. A lot of the food we ordered had just a bit of char on some of it from the hot wok, making the food taste really, really good.Ordered a lot of food for 3 people but everything was excellent! House fried noodles were the thin kind I like, not greasy, with pork, vegetables and shrimp too. We also got crispy fried green beans with pork, sweet sour shrimp, black mushrooms with tender bamboo shoots, Shanghai rice cakes (YUM!), green onion pancakes all for $88. 6 items for under $100? Unheard of these days...Free parking outside the restaurant, and the best thing? Really, really good food ."
"If you're looking for quite possibly the best Chinese family style restaurant on the island, you found it here. Not only is the food, phenomenal with delicious flavor, it was cooked perfectly every single time we've been. Service is excellent- they really do treat you like family. The first time we came here, was actually Christmas night. They were super busy yet welcomed us with open arms and never made us feel like eating out on Christmas was an inconvenience. Wait since been numerous times, and that feeling of welcomeness never subsides. Everything is served family style, with plenty of servings to feed more than a couple of people. You can definitely serve a large family here or even a small office party."
"It's always a good time whenever I come here with family. The food here is amazing. The service is good, too. All the workers make sure you get the best experience here. I love the ambiance of this bar. I also love the open karaoke. Every time I come here, their songs of choice are always great and it really gets the vibe going. There's also a lot of good singers in this bar!"
"Dang!... Haven't ordered anything in awhile and got floored at the prices gone to the moon! Since, its been a minute, their menu gotten a bit better with additions they made to the menu... Such as: Crispy roast pork, pork hash(dim sum), manapua(car siu bao), fried chicken wings and whole roasted duck(hong kong style). Would give stars across the board, but have never tried wvery new item and don't have the $$$ to do so at the moment."
"We have been ordering fromHere for awhile! Love the daily specials and the mini plates when you just don't know what to eat just order a variety and everyone share!! New Year's Eve was just crazy there but worth the wait!!! Tried the chicken with walnut (same sauce as the shrimp With walnut) sooo good! The char shu fried rice was a great choice too! Try this place if you're ever in Ewa!"
"I have eaten here numerous times. The catch is getting there during their limited hours, 11AM to 2PM, M-F. When you walk in, there is a fridge on the right. Get the plum tea/juice. Trust me on this, I always get one. There are other goodies in there, so take a look. You can get a 2, 3 or 4 item plate. I almost always get the 2 item plus soup and add the drink. Noodles or rice are automatically included and don't count as an item. Most people get half rice, half noodles. I get noodles only. The menu changes daily. Eggplant, bean curd, spring rolls, curry, mixed vegetables, etc. They're all good, but I especially like the bean curd and curries. They also have fruit or dessert a lot of times at the register. Tap to pay, or cash.Their is a restroom in the back on the left. And a temple upstairs. Yes, an actual temple for worship. I think the monks help prepare the food and it's all ladies serving. Go try this place, you'll like it. No parking though. You have to park at the post office, on Mililani Street or some other location. See my photos!"
"Our absolute favorite for seafood when on Oahu! The flavors and seafood quality never disappoint. Family-owned, and the owner is always so welcoming and goes above and beyond with service. Free parking, clean restrooms and dining area. Highly recommend this location to locals and visitors!"
"We love this place! Food always great and delicious. Sit down or take out the service is friendly and remembers repeat customers!"
"I gotta give it up for Waimalu Chop Suey, as I feel it's time to update my review of this Chinese restaurant. Yes, I haven't forgotten the cockroach incident, but that's in the past, and when I think about it, I just have to laugh. Lol!So my dad had some friends visiting from the mainland, and one evening I decided to take them out to a Chinese restaurant they haven't tried before - Waimalu Chop Suey. What can I say about Waimalu Chop Suey? It's your basic old school, mom & pop Chinese restaurant. The dated décor of the restaurant is definitely old school with those vinyl booths, and of course they have another section within the restaurant to accommodate larger parties with large tables. After entering the restaurant, we were greeted right away, and menus were dropped off. Upon looking over the menu, I decided to get a fixed menu for (4) people, and added two more dishes to our meal.We ordered the following dishes on the fixed meal -Scallop SoupChinese Chicken SaladTender Beef Sizzling PlatterHoney Walnut ShrimpChicken with AsparagusFried NoodlesDessertAnd the added the two following items -1/2 order Peking Duck with BunsSteamed Fish Fillet with Ginger & Onion SauceWhat can I say about the grub? The food was tasty and the portions were more than generous, but I would say that the star of the meal was that Peking Duck! The Peking Duck was very meaty, and who wouldn't turn down some duck skin in a bun? Lol!After enjoying our meal, there were lots of leftovers to take home afterwards.Service was on point, and our waitress was very friendly. Just an FYI.........if you like Gau Gee, this is the place to check out! Don't bother to order the soft gau gee, order the deep fried crispy gau gee! It's totally worth it, even if you doctor lectures you about eating stuff like that! Lol!"
"This place was very good considering I am from the East coast where I missed my authentic Chinese food. Food was almost comparable to what I am use too from Philly Chinatown. We ordered 10 dishes including the specialty seafood soup. All in all it was good, beside the eggplant dishes being too sweet, sizzling beef being chewy, Orange Chicken was made from chicken left over meat from the wings or something (recommend making it from breast meat). Seafood soup was starchy and thick, please have more brothy than starchy.. price overall was good for 8 people. Customer service was good and ambiance was calm.. combo meat Fried Rice78. "Finally got to try overlord chicken, and it was delicious! Service is great, and if you like mala (numbing) spice, you'll love their noodle/dry pot selection. The chicken is also very tender, breaded lightly, and crispy. The beef noodle soup is delicious and gets spicy if you want it to be, and the veggies & noodles are authentic. The only comment is the beef cuts weren't the best and were more tendony, but if you like that then you will love the beef noodles. Inside has limited seating but it moves pretty quickly. Parking is tougher but you can find some around the neighborhood."
"Romantic and fun date spot for those who are interested in trying something you can tell your friends about. This restaurant is located near Walmart in town. ADA accessible entrance, though it might be a tight fit. We had the sweetest waitress here, Vicki, who was attentive and went above and beyond for us. At the end of our meal we wanted to order their dessert, but they were out. Vicki found some Melona bars in the freezer that I think were the cook's personal stash and gave them to us with a smile. Thank you Vicki for making our stay special. The skewers here are delicious. You can order the perfect amount to be full without wasting any food. Great for groups who want to try lots of different things. The cucumber salad was a nice balance to all the meats. The only thing we can think of to make this even better, is if iSing (karaoke bar) next door and Volcano Skewer House partnered up :) these skewers would make the perfect karaoke food."
"Well, what can you say about Chun Wa Kam that hasn't been said before? Everyone knows there's no parking. Unless you get lucky. But the service is fast and super friendly. Quality pork hash and manapua. Always a good choice!"
"I don't aggressively cross off my bookmarks but I've kept K&K Kitchen (KK) in the back burner for YEARS. KK took over the spot of the popular, original location of Mitsuken Bento and Catering that moved in 2013. I've always been a fan of garlic chicken and usually get my fix from Mitsuken and Sugoi. Step in chicken fanatic Fran C. who would post and boast about KK's garlic chicken plate. With such challenging parking, I've waited over 10 years to finally try KK back in April 2024. I live about a 5min drive from KK and have passed here hundreds of times and would survey the parking, but found myself giving up. I was running errands and feeling pretty down as I had another tax year of writing checks to Uncle Sam. It was past 130pm and still didn't eat lunch yet and found myself on N School Street. As I approached, I noticed KK's door still open and only one car in the adjacent parking. I pulled in and finally, was going to see what Fran has been raving over. I walked to the counter and heard Cantonese being spoken between the counter staff and the kitchen crew. I didn't need to study the menu as I just came to try the garlic chicken. I ordered a regular plate with all rice and after paying, I stood on the side waiting for my food with free entertainment of a few feral chickens nearby and witnessed an elderly Asian woman struggle with parallel parking of multiple attempts while her elderly husband (?) trying to guide her. When the girl blurted "garlic chicken all rice", I made my way back to the counter to get my food where I asked for a pair of chopsticks instead of a fork. I hopped back into my car and headed back home. THE VERDICT:I was impressed on the garlic chicken plate. As I removed the cover, the chicken was piping hot, the way I enjoy my food. Strategically took a bite trying not to burn my mouth and the chicken was super moist, juicy and packed with flavor. I noticed some sauce that accumulated on the bottom so I dipped the chicken and I was in heaven. The rice was your standard plate lunch rice that paired well with the flavorful chicken. With comparison to their competitors, KK's garlic chicken is superior because it wasn't overcooked nor did the chicken have excess chicken skin. You were served good quality chicken meat. Service was average as the staff just got the job done. She was engaged in conversing with the kitchen staff in Chinese. I noticed that KK is much more sanitary and brighter than the dingy and somewhat questionable Mitsuken back in the olden days. Overall, an impressive first experience at Kk where I'd be game for a return visit. With parking the major issue, I'd probably go back in the afternoon just before they close with hopes of less foot traffic and available parking. NOTE: I ate less than half of the plate and gave the leftovers to favorite nephew by default who devoured it. He asked where the food was from as he thoroughly enjoyed it."
"2nd time within 2 weeks lol . This time I wanted to try their shrimp toast along with their garlic chicken plate . The garlic chicken was good tasting plus they give a lot not too much over bearing with the garlic sauce . The shrimp toast was very interesting nice and crispy and nice amount of shrimp a little salty but it was ok Support them if your in the area"
"Ate here because Jack's was unexpectedly closed. No prices on menu, so make sure you ask what the prices are. 8 piece siu mai was around $20. Food was okay. For our party of 4, they automatically added 20% gratuity to our bill! And no offer of hot tea, dammit."
"Good food and quick service. Cake noodle, eggplant, beef, and shrimp was enough for 4 people. The cake noodle wasn't overly soggy from the sauce. The honey walnuts shrimp came out perfect and the walnuts were warm and crunchy, much better than when we take-away. Recommend for big group."
"This is a great restaurant to bring family and guests to celebrate or meet. The food is delicious and the restaurant workers are friendly and helpful. My favorite is the rice soup (juk) with side order of salted duck egg."
"Well, I finally found a Chinese restaurant relatively close to my new home. Waipio and Mililani Mauka aren't what you might consider as "near", but it's near enough to consider it being "close to my new home".I studied the menu and saw that they offer a pretty extensive and reasonable lunch combo.Too bad it ends at 3 pm.I'm here to pick up dinner. Decided to get my favorite go-to dishes: Shrimp Fried Rice and Sum See cake noodles. Shrimp fried rice is pretty well seasoned with a generous amount of shrimp. The sum see cake noodles were packed in 2 separate containers. One for the crispy fried noodles and another for the topping. It's separated so the cake noodles can stay crispy... Impressive!Or so I initially thought. I got home and emptied the topping over the crispy fried cake noodles, let it soak the sauce for a little bit, then dug in.My first reaction was; WHAT THE HELL....?The cake noodles were.....CHEWY....!?It seems the noodles were pre-fried and set aside and stored, until somebody ordered it. What's the point of keeping the noodles separated from the topping if it's stale? This totally defies comprehension. The other places fry the noodles and cut them into squares after the order comes in. My order came out relatively quickly and the staff was courteous. Judging from the amount of orders coming out of the kitchen, it seems to be the neighborhood favorite takeout spot. I hate to rant on everybody's favorite, but the cake noodles are not happening....It's a bit generous, I'll give it 3 stars."
"I didn't take picture because once I got to San Francisco my coworkers ate the whole box :(This place got the best pork hash I have ever had in my life & the Manapua was also great. I am so glad to have found this place thanks to my friend and will be back!"
"There mini azuki manapua is so awesome and wish they make it daily and I would be happy"
