Maile K. "Eight years later, I still love love love the food. The manapua, siumai, half moon....oh heck, EVERYTHING, is STILL exceptional. The charsiu-su is the flakiest, most flavorful, and no shortage of filling, baked good there is. Shrimp chips are so fresh. Still a very wide selection of seeds. There are several ladies taking orders with pay counters at both ends of the display case.My issue is with the amount of customers allowed inside. They used to only allow 2 people in at a time. At one point, there were 10 people INSIDE, making it very difficult for those that paid, to get out. Also, there should be a system for phone order pickups. Customers are so rude by pushing their way in and shouting to anyone who would listen, they need their order. I got shoved to the corner and couldn't even complete my order. Trying to make my way to the counter was extremely challenging. Customers would also reach past my face and point at things while shouting in Chinese. No manners. Luckily, Doordash delivers."

Raeann Y. "I finally got to try this place last week and I was so excited! I bought pumpkin crunch mochi, peanut butter mochi, strawberry and honeydew chichi dango, yuzu honey manju and pumpkin senbei. All were delicious but my absolute fave was the manju. Manju has a tendency to be dry but theirs isn't, it was absolutely delicious. Service here was top notch too. Two ladies helping in the front, very friendly and gave lots of good recommendations. Store is very clean and pretty with decor. They are quite busy and their parking lot is small so be patient when checking this place out. It was totally worth it. Look at the menu I took a pic of for their thanksgiving menu!"

Angel H. "We came and purchased a blue vanilla and strawberry swirl float with Coke and condensed milk ($4 + $0.75 for the condensed milk). It only comes in one size (16 oz.). They give you the whole can of Coke, so you can just keep adding to the soft serve. We also got a bag of fresh buttered popcorn with extra butter, furikake and arare $5.75. Both items were good. I prefer the Coke float. It hit the spot on a hot day. The popcorn needed more butter and furikake."

Ric C. "A fond farewell with a happy ending. Menehune Mac will cease their operations on Waiakamilo rd by the end of Sept. 2021. BUT luckily this is not the end like so many other local business. They are moving to a new location on Republican street and will be sharing space with the Hawaiian Chip Co. location.Menehune Mac products are a cut above other local offerings. Case in point is their dark chocolate. They use a high grade chocolate that comes out of northern CA called Guittard. If you have ever tried their dark chocolate products and compared it with the competition there is no comparison. The Menehune Mac offerings are clearly better tasting. They offer a host of other delicious products such as party mixes, chocolate arare, Mac nut candies in different flavors. Lots of logo items too with their signature Menehune mascot- great branding. Come by and give your farewell to a familiar location and cheer on Menehune Mac at their new Republican St location in October. Keep It Local! Support Local! Buy Local!"

Jessica P. "In my search for "Thank you" party favors for my parents' 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary, I discovered special fortune cookies made by Hawai'i Candy online. Their website features popular snacks such as wun tun strips, macadamia nut coconut balls, and a variety of cookies. Yum!I decided to visit their shop to place an order for individually wrapped fortune cookies containing a personalized message. The shop was a little difficult to find, but after catching a glimpse of the Hawai'i Candy sign on the side of a street facing building, I parked and found the small shop while on foot deep into a driveway.Upon entry, I was greeted by friendly faces and wonderful customer service at the front desk by what appears to be a small family owned business. They explained the personalized fortune cookies in detail and even had samples on hand to get a better idea of the final product. The small fortune cookies are actually pretty big! It was about the size of my palm and tasty!I decided to create the personalized inserts myself to avoid paying an additional $25 in printing charges. A message was printed on both sides and then cut into a 2-1/2" x 3/4" size. I then went back a second time to place an order for 50 cookies (25 minimum) with a 5-day turnaround. The final product of 50 pieces was packaged into a Hawai'i Candy box ready as my hand-carry to Las Vegas. Each cookie was wrapped with Hawai'i Candy cellophane for a total price of $0.55/each.After placing each fortune cookie into a gold organza bag containing a few other giveaways for the Golden Anniversary celebration, I thought it turned out to be a great "thank you" treat from Hawai'i!"

M'ia K. "The Sock S... ONLY Four stars? Blasphemy! (j/k!) Set me up with a few six packs of Hawaiian sun (my favorite: Passion/Guava), King's Hawaiian Bread, King's Guava Cake (or Yasukochi's, take your pick), some Chicken Katsu /Hawaiian BBQ from L&L, and some homemade Spam Musubi from Cafe Hana in Jtown..... and I'm just going to sit and hibernate for the winter... This stuff is addictive, and sometimes I like to convince myself it's healthier than Pepsi... Perhaps it's because all of the Hawaiian sun drinks remind me of days on the beach/pool on Maui / Kauai... In SF: available at Genki Crepes, Super Mira, Uoki Sakai, Aloha Warehouse, and May Wah Market (these are the places that I know of for sure.)"
