"Romantic and fun date spot for those who are interested in trying something you can tell your friends about. This restaurant is located near Walmart in town. ADA accessible entrance, though it might be a tight fit. We had the sweetest waitress here, Vicki, who was attentive and went above and beyond for us. At the end of our meal we wanted to order their dessert, but they were out. Vicki found some Melona bars in the freezer that I think were the cook's personal stash and gave them to us with a smile. Thank you Vicki for making our stay special. The skewers here are delicious. You can order the perfect amount to be full without wasting any food. Great for groups who want to try lots of different things. The cucumber salad was a nice balance to all the meats. The only thing we can think of to make this even better, is if iSing (karaoke bar) next door and Volcano Skewer House partnered up :) these skewers would make the perfect karaoke food."

"First time coming here this past weekend and I'm surprised I haven't come sooner. We came without a reservation but were still seated immediately. Our server was very kind (a young woman who said she is from Kailua). She noticed us struggling with some flies since we were seated outside and brought a little device to help keep the flies off our food which was very kind. I definitely think more restaurants with outdoor seating should have those on every table! I really liked everything I ate which was the brisket and kalua pork with tater tots, Brussels sprouts, and cornbread. The pickles are flavored with mustard which was surprisingly good. I would say my favorite was probably the Brussels sprouts though. Either way, a great spot for bbq if you're on the east side!"

I guess I'll need to take more trips.Located in the parking lot before the airport, across of McDonalds and IHOP, Family BBQ is tucked away on the left most corner (towards the airport). We got the garlic chicken and spicy BBQ chicken. The spicy BBQ chicken was very tender, moist and tasty! The taste mostly comes from the sauce, which is garlicy and honestly, not super spicy. It has a tiny kick. The star of the show is the garlic chicken. They're in like smaller bites and pieces but oh man, so packed with flavor! Reminds of famous garlic chicken places, but better. Banchan was all delicious. The daikon is refreshing, not too vinegary. The kimchi is delicious! Not watery nor too salty. Bean sprouts are great and fish cakes were tasty!Quantity of food was superb! Nowadays, can't get a MINI more than $15 but the minis here were actually under that. I got two thighs in my mini! They are incredibly generous, and the food is actually good. They're not like other Korean Plate lunch places that only give you a lot, but a lot of meh food. Prices obviously are justified. Now I have a reason to go to the airport early to pickup or drop-off people. I can now make them pay me with food from here ;) Its definitely worth it!"

For breakfast- before Costco is even open - it is about the best within walking distance, including Zippy's. Form runny eggs to great Portuguese sausage to loco moco to more lunch time menus fast food of Bentos, Korean BBQ and normal Chinese food. No spam mushibi which surprises me. But you can get rice and spam, when I have with me those that are special needs and want either mushibi or hamburger patties separate from the rice they are more than happy to give the boys separate plates for the things so that they are not upset.The nice thing is that the bentos are on sale half price at about 4 pm in the weekdays. They are just on the counter so you pick which you want and then pay at the cashier.Parking is by Costco.There is plenty of tables to sit at - as almost no one is ever there to eat except during lunch or during Sat. gaming challenges.Hard to go wrong with a nice beef plate lunch or the classic Hawaiian plate lunch of loco moco. Still pretty good."

The food is cheap!!!! 3 choices for $20 something, wow! Super worth it! AND it comes with sides. Wow! So they seperate their sides because on one side of their restaurant you have all you can eat yakiniku and on the other side it's reg eating. Mama & papa there are super nice and they make you feel at home. The food is good. Cooked to perfection. Very fulfilling. They give a lot. Although I wish it was cooler in there because the ac was not really strong enough. The noise level is regular, not too quiet and not too loud which was perfect. The tables were a little squishy. But I enjoyed the company of the workers."

Too bad they weren't open on Tuesday...So, I went back on Wednesday!There was a couple in front of me, waiting for their food. I went up to the window and ordered the first item on the menu: Bistek and egg. It comes with garlic rice and pickled veggies! I took the package home... it was killing me... The fragrance...it smelled so good!When I got home, I snapped a quick photo, but didn't get a sho of the pink pickled onions and the green pickled cucumbers... wow... so yummy! Even the Sautéed onions were delicious! The beef was tender and tasty with its citrus-soy marinade and Maui onion ginger scallion sauce. Mmm! I wanna try everything on the menu!Oh... and I got the Mango Sago drink without condensed milk (because the Ube Horchata has dairy). It was excellent, too! The Sago was a bit clumpy, and some couldn't fit through the straw. I drank them out of the cup! It worked!Service was polite and efficient! We remembered seeing Ginza Won on the way in and decided let's just go here to eat and we're 100 percent super happy! Their quality of meats was sooo good and their seafood tofu soup was the best we've eaten in so long. Seafood was so fresh. The services was so great. The server was very authentic and personable. He gave us great suggestions and kept our banchan full. He mentioned his mom made that super delicious tofu soup. Definitely we will be back next time we're in Hawaii."

"Wow pleasantly surprised. This small mom and pop shop with the guy speaking broken English serves up on of the best combo phos on island. Their broth is savory with depth and a hint of sweetness, exactly how I like it. All the meats - brisket, tripe, rare steak, are tender and flavorful. The herbs are fresh and plentiful bagged up for us in our takeout order. The pho costs about $17.50 each, which is not cheap but slightly above average. The location in Kakaako isn't the best and it's not the nice part of Kakaako, yet the prices are higher than expected. Oh well at least their pho is amazing and this can be our new regular takeout spot now!Parking can be challenging even for just a quick pickup. I ended up parking outside of some business in its driveway on Queen st with my emergency lights on. Otherwise there are maybe 4 curb spots on Cooke st outside the restaurant, but there are at least 2 other restaurants adjacent to Niu so it can be challenging I suppose."

"Saw the food pics on YELP and had to see and try for myself. They're open from 11am-4pm, and are located right outside the NEX. Just follow your nose! The mouth-watering smell of bbq gives you the first hint of how good the food is.Got there around 2:15pm, no line, went straight up to the 2 lovely ladies and asked if they had a sampler plate with all of their offerings. The Combo Plate has everything plus 2 sides...I got rice and tossed salad. There was a rib, a huli huli chicken drumstick, steak, brisket...and there was more than enough food for 2 hungry people! I also ordered a huli huli chicken plate for my oldest daughter. Both massive plates plus a drink totaled less than $40. Happy Dance!The ladies were friendly and gracious, the food came quickly. I didn't have a chance to try their sauces because I wanted to taste the bbq for itself. Next time (tomorrow) I will be sure to try the sauce. Couldn't wait to get home and chow down! For those that prefer, there are ample tables should you wish to eat there.OK...food was so good! Meat had really nice flavor, meat falling off the bone on the ribs, steak was soft but still had a chew...did I already say how tasty it all was?! And they packed the plate.Fully intend to go back tomorrow to try each dish as a stand alone...starting with the ribs.If you're in the area be sure to stop by, I can guarantee you won't regret it!"

I ordered from a very sweet and positive lady that made some helpful suggestions. I chose the Garlic Ahi Healthy plate with brown rice and tossed salad. Beautiful presentation of two very large filets of Ahi sautéed with garlic over a generous and crispy fresh salad with carrots and crunchy cucumbers with large cup of tarter sauce and soy for my rice!I was so happy after having a terrible experience at the kunia location! I noticed they have a fried oyster plate which I will order next visit. The Unagi plate also tempts me for next visit. This is by far the best L & L location."

We returned recently and it was pretty awful in terms of service and being empty on a weekend evening was telling. We arrived a little before their happy hour ended and the waitress said she would honor their early bird prices so we ordered our first round. Upon receiving our bill, we were charged full price so we went up to ask and the waitresses said the lady in charge (kitchen) said because we ordered after their happy hour we had to be charged the full price?! Never was that disclosed on the menu not in person because we would've ordered everything the first time! It felt very shady.Food was fresh and good but the service was lacking even beyond that bill incident."

"I am a true fan of Mei Mei Chinese BBQ, I usually stick to my favorite places out west side but after visits to Mei Mei, this is my new addiction. Thank you to Paul C. ( mayor of Chinatown) hehe. His social media post and reviews made curious to try and now LOVED the meats @ Mei Mei so much! Since location is out of the way for me, I try to make a stop here every time I am in the area, or if I am off for an appointment for my roasted meats fixed. They also close at 3 pm and sell out at certain times. Few times I was too late and they are out roast pork/duck & even the lunch specials, I have to remember to call ahead to place my order next time. Not only the lunch meats are OMG, super good, the prices! Wow, way cheaper than at my usual places that I go to. Lets talk about the $7. lunch special, that is a super great deal, comes with either fried rice or white rice, choy sum, shoyu chicken and either roast pork or char siu. Can't beat that! The roasted meat lunch plates ( one choice) @$10. mini, $14.00 for regular. I recommend getting the regular plate for just $4. more. I picked up the lunch special and treated my coworkers during the school break and they really enjoyed it. One of my coworker mentioned it is such a treat, since she normally doesn't get to eat this type of food. I recently brought a roast pork plate for my brother and he text me, asking about the roast pork, " The roast pork was delicious, where you get it?" The very first time my husband tried the roasted meat plates I brought for our dinner, shoyu chicken, roast duck, and roast pork. He even asked where is this from, its really good! Wow. I love all the compliments and brownie points! hehe. Lets talk about the roast pork, when I first took a bite of that roast pork, I fell in love. WOW. It was the perfect roast pork, crispiness, fat to meat racial and the right amount of salt. I really need rice, along with my chili pepper and pickled veggies. Perfect combination! The duck is nice and juicy, but I just don't like their duck sauce. The char siu is tender and I love that it is not too sweet, bonus if I get the burnt ends. I love when there are leftovers roasted meats, I cook jook with it or freeze them to cook later. Mei Mei is a Gem here at Maunakea Marketplace, it is tucked behind the shops in front, look for the hanging ducks and the long line. Junk part is having to find parking but trust me it is so worth it! Kudos to the husband and wife team, who works works very hard! I totally recommend this hole in the wall. five stars! Recommend. I can't wait for my next roast meat fix which will be next week!"

I stopped here after school and picked up a plate for my son who has been dying to try this place. We ordered the Donny plate and also shrimp and grits. Those 2 plates were like 52 bucks, and the order took about 29 minutes. We get the food my expectations are high... the plate was a mix of a few different bbq: ribs, brisket and pulled pork. The ribs were cold like they forgot to microwave it. Weirdly enough some stuff was cold some was warm, I don't get it. The shrimp and grits however those were pretty good. Good flavor, came out warm. I just can't get over the cold ribs like fresh out the fridge. I would have been a bit more forgiving had the price been lower but not when I'm paying close to $25 a plate at a to go spot."

They have a good variety of manapua to choose from. I prefer the standard char siu manapua. I was lucky that someone showed up at my job with a box of manapua and pork hash for us. It was the baked original char siu one and it was yummy. The breading wasn't too thick and it was stuffed with a lot of meat. I love pork hash and it went well with the hot mustard shoyu mix that they had. If you get a chance to try this place out. Make sure to try a plate lunch, manapua and a pork hash."

We had the Brisket Loco Moco, Garlic Shrimp Plate, and onion rings. Our orders came pretty quickly while we watched the boats float by. The garlic shrimp plate was pretty good, not heavily garlicky like some other shrimp plates lol. The brisket loco moco was kind of salty but tasty. The onion rings were nice and crispy and didn't fall apart which was what we look for in an onion ring :P Overall a good meal and we were really full afterwards XD"

She answered all my questions as it was our first time going there. She even remembered talking to my husband yesterday when he called to asked if they're open. We ordered 4 chicken inasal plates, pork bbq sticks and isaw (adobo pork intestines), cassava flan and latik.Chicken inasal- was so tasty and cooked perfectly. The jasmine rice with the chicken oil and fried garlic was very good.Isaw- wow! I was a little skeptical ordering it due to bad experience from other places. I'm so glad I listened to their first customer (their neighbor). The isaw didn't have any of the gamey smell and taste, it was so good that even my daughter ate it.Pork bbq stick- tender, juicy and very tasty!Cassava Flan- tasty and not overly sweet. Perfect dessert to end a very good meal.Oh and btw, I told my Japanese/Filipino son that the best way to eat this Filipino food is by eating using our hands lol! Call in your order ahead of time to save on time. The parking lot can sometimes get crowded during peak meal times (this establishment shares parking with Masa & Joyce and Kin Wah, which are landmarks in Kaneohe), but just be patient as cars are constantly pulling in and out of stalls. In addition to the katsu, we also like the eggplant (ala carte), which is made Chinese-style. It has a kick to it, so if you don't like spicy foods, ask for it mild."
