"Pipeline has solidified its status for me as a "must visit" whenever I come to Oahu. Not everything they make is perfect. I found their seasonal gingerbread to be overpowering. But they'd make 3 things that I need when I want to taste vacation. 1) Lilikoi cheesecake bars. They are the epitome of tropical flavor to me. I love them. I can't get enough and yet I never buy enough because others in my traveling party devour them too!2) Strawberry Guava cake. Another tropical flavor. Great cake. 3) Chocolate chocolate cake. Hey! Not everything can be tropical and it resets your palette for more tropical flavors."
"I'm so glad I found this place. Located in Manoa, it's a great little spot for your morning caffeine and breakfast. There's some parking in the lot or some street parking out front. There was a decent line of maybe 10 ppl ahead of me but it moved fairly quickly and all the staff were great. There is a small corner counter with 4 stools but the rest of the seating is outside under their enclosed patio or the tables in the front parking lot. I snagged a counter spot inside after I placed my order. I didn't mind the long line because it gave me an opportunity to consider all the amazing food and drink options. I landed on a hot matcha latte with macadamia nut milk and Manoa honey. A beautiful cup of sweet and nutty goodness to start my day. I also got the strata (a really savory bread pudding with bacon, roasted shallots, garlic and aged cheddar). I should preface by saying I'm usually not a big fan of bread pudding, but if all bread puddings tasted like this, I would get it every time! It was divinely delicious. I also took a lilikoi honey butter biscuit to go. I usually like to add butter or honey to my biscuits so this biscuit was made for me! And who doesn't like passionfruit?"

"Ubae yay...Or nay that I have yet to visit the shop in Kalihi though lucky me that you're able to find them at various events as well like the current Food and New Product Show at the Blaisdell where you can't miss the cute purple truck filled with goodies galore.Ube Cheesecake and Crinkle Cookies was brought here today along with various merchandise as they're voted Hawaii's Best size years in a row there's a reason for that. The service here is very friendly and great as I adored their Tart Plushie he made sure I knew it was available for purchase as well lol!! Lots of yummy treats and fun items as well making it a great spot for ubae anytime.Thank you!"
"Eight years later, I still love love love the food. The manapua, siumai, half moon....oh heck, EVERYTHING, is STILL exceptional. The charsiu-su is the flakiest, most flavorful, and no shortage of filling, baked good there is. Shrimp chips are so fresh. Still a very wide selection of seeds. There are several ladies taking orders with pay counters at both ends of the display case.My issue is with the amount of customers allowed inside. They used to only allow 2 people in at a time. At one point, there were 10 people INSIDE, making it very difficult for those that paid, to get out. Also, there should be a system for phone order pickups. Customers are so rude by pushing their way in and shouting to anyone who would listen, they need their order. I got shoved to the corner and couldn't even complete my order. Trying to make my way to the counter was extremely challenging. Customers would also reach past my face and point at things while shouting in Chinese. No manners. Luckily, Doordash delivers."
"How did I not know about this place a long time ago?! I stumbled upon Donut King Hawaii on accident. I went to Ben Franklin one day and noticed this small donut spot. They had different types of donuts there. We got a dozen different donuts and let me tell you, they were all amazing! We definitely will be back for more. Could you please make a location on the West Side???"
"I've been coming to Sugarlina for over 9 years! My last review was of this business when they were located in Aiea. Now they are located in town in the Ward Centers area. I currently live in town and was so surprised to learn that they are located closer to me!PARKING: They are locate din the Ward Centers so there is lots of parking in the structure. If you want to walk about to work off the calories, you can park in the opposite structure (TJ Max side) and walk across the street. LOCATION: You can see their store right off of Auahi Street. Their address is Ward Centers, Ala Moana Boulevard, but their store is on the Auahi Street side of the center.SERVICE: I originally came in to get one (1) cupcake for myself. The lady in there was the sweetest and convinced me to get a box of four (4) ....to share. How dare she! I could say she was sweet like the cupcakes.FOOD: I recommend trying ALL their flavors. Their cupcakes are the BEST. The cake part is moist and the cream part isn't too sweet, its the perfect sweet. Many cupcake bakers showcase their design making it deceiving when you bite into their cupcakes. However, Sugarlina will not deceive you. Their designs are cute and their cupcakes are the perfect texture and sweetness. (Side note: I did not end up sharing my box of four (4) cupcake) They are that good.. trust me!I'm so grateful that they moved locations. Their Ward store is a lot bigger than their old location. Bigger location means they can display and hold more cupcakes! yay!"
"Panya Bistro is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is casual with good music, creating a relaxed and enjoyable vibe. The service is quick and friendly, with servers checking on you often to ensure your waters and beverages are always filled. The food is simply outstanding. The clam chowder was creamy and filled with nice big chunks of potatoes, clams, and celery. The Thai basil steak salad was bursting with flavor, and the chicken wings were perfectly seasoned with a tasty dipping sauce. We also tried the iced milk tea latte, which was smooth and delicious, and the plantation iced tea, which was incredibly refreshing. To top it all off, the mango mousse cake was divine!Parking is plentiful, with options at Ward Village, South Shore Market, or in the Hokua building, and they even validate your parking. Panya Bistro is a great place to gather with friends or for a quick lunch date with your significant other. Highly recommend!"
"Tiny Pyramid is a hidden treasure tucked away in a textile & interior design center near the waterfront. The corn & crabmeat soup was well balanced with hints of zest & cracked peppers. The bake lobster was a very well executed & delightful appetizer especially when lightly topped with the accompanying sprouts & tomatoes. The Lamb Wellington was the best I've ever had-perfectly braised & juicy with crispy, golden browned puff pastry. Crying Belly was a mouth watering braised pork belly simmered in flavorful but light Asian sauce. Braised duck was perfectly done & moist. Outstanding French & Japanese style desserts, featuring their signature Chocolate Mousse Pyramid! Servers are helpful & pleasant. Excellent French-Asian fusion cuisine at reasonable prices!"
"Great onolicious sweets! Love their malasadas, lilikoi bars, long Johns, etc., etc., TOO MANY to list! The first, but definitely not the last... I had their Pumpkin Crunch Pie... yums!!!!!!!"
"9BarHNL is a cool coffee shop that serves up quality espresso and is known for their unique baked good. Located at SALT in Kakaako- there's free 1 hour parking in the SALT garage and I believe that they will validate if you plan on staying in. You can find people with their laptops doing work or even enjoying their morning cup of coffee with their furry friends. It can get a bit crowded, but if there isn't any room to sit inside, there's plenty of outdoor seating around SALT. I ordered an iced black sesame latte which normally comes without coffee, but I added a double shot of espresso to it. The black sesame has a rich nutty flavor that is also a bit sweet- balancing out the espresso. I also ordered one of their scuffins, their scone a muffin hybrid. I got their ensaymada scuffin-- I hadn't heard of ensaymada before but they had me at "whipped butter and sugar". So, it's a savory scuffin topped with a whipped butter and sugar icing. It's savory and sweet and reminded me of a scone at high tea with whipped butter! I came into 9Bar for a pick-me-up after an unfortunate miscommunication had me in the area a day earlier than I needed to be. But seriously, all the animosity and stress from my morning melted away the moment I walked in and got such a genuine welcome with eye contact and a "good morning" from the barista. Let this be a testament that you never know what a person is going through and the simplest of kind gestures can really go a long way. I enjoyed the latte and scuffin, but I'm coming back solely based on that welcoming feeling I got when I first walked in."
"Birthday cake from Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii...La Palme D'Or = The Golden PalmIt's an award given to the Director of the Best film at the Cannes Film Festival. This means that the pastry shop with this name must have goods of the highest quality, right?Let's check them out...I had never been to La Palme D'Or Patisserie before, but I have passed it many times since it's next to The Lanai Food Court on the Mall Level, near Macy's on the Mauka (mountain) side.I saw the picture menu of the beverages in the window... wow... such a variety! I also learned that they serve pasta, salads, and sandwiches! I should return for those! This time, my goal was to secure a Strawberry Shortcake to serve after dinner. I chose the one with the chocolate drippings on the edge of the cake. I asked if the cake could be personalized... yes! I asked if they could hold it for me for about an hour while I walked around the mall... no problem! I just had to leave my phone number. Okay! They offered me a bag for a small price, but I thought I could manage without. Our dinner restaurant was about ten minutes away. They held it in their refrigerator while we ate. When the cake was served, everyone enjoyed the fresh berries, light, fluffy texture, and the not too sweet flavor! Thank you for this excellent cake!"
"Penny's Waikiki Malasadas is located at the Hawaiian Center food court and specializes in Malasadas (Portuguese donuts). They are made to order and are available with a filling. All of the malasadas are coated in a sugar.Filled malasadas ($11 for 3) - Coconut, ube, nutella and custard were the fillings available. The malasadas were so fresh, warm and melted in my mouth. The consistency wasn't quite the same as Leonard's, but it was still very good. I was disappointed with the fillings as they were extremely watery.Overall the malasadas here are great, but are pricier and not as good as Leonard's. Also there is no line here, so don't expect a wait like one would at Leonard's. I'd stick to getting the plain malasadas here over the filled ones."

In Oahu, most people probably head to Leonard's for malasadas, but I personally heard that Pipeline is a serious contender and had seen all their praise on Yelp. This said, we came to Pipeline specifically for their malasadas, although they offer a selection of baked goods and ice cream as well. Their individual-sized "cake bombs" looked particularly good! The malasadas here are not filled, but are instead just covered in flavored sugar, which comes in five varieties.... classic, cocoa, coffee, lihing (plum) and their special at the time, cinnamon. For $14.34, we got a box of six with two each of cocoa, coffee and cinnamon. After just a few minutes, an employee brought our box of malasadas out from the kitchen which were clearly made-to-order, as stated on their menu board. They were hot and fluffy and when I picked one up, I could hear the slight crinkle of the exterior. Upon first bite, it was light, soft and the dough had an elasticity where it slightly bounced back into shape. It was literally like biting into a cloud! While the malasada itself was excellent, we all thought the flavored sugar was very subtle. Although we could see fine grounds of coffee, cocoa powder and cinnamon, those flavors barely came through. All the malasadas tasted like a simple sugar donut with just a hint of flavoring. Also, a lot of the sugar didn't cling to the donuts and ended up covering the bottom of the box. The freshness of these malasadas can't be beat, but I can't say I was completely blown away. Nevertheless, I was happy to support this local business. Note: Parking is a little tough as it's located around a residential area with narrow roads. There is some metered parking across the street.

Long waits on weekend mornings...about the norm for Morning Glass Coffee + Cafe. Worth it as their coffee, pastries, and meals are excellent.Got the Rad Boy Special for takeaway. If I recall correctly, radish, watermelon, easy over egg, feta, and red onion , on a Brioche bun. Bacon can be an add-on, for those carnivores. Excellent.

After hearing my coworker stops by this place to purchase gifts for friends before flying up to the mainland I decided to give this place a go! Smallish shop and selections looked limited. The cases had a small number of 4-pack tarts available and slices of cakes and crinkled cookies. I kept on thinking there has to be more. I have seen these selections at pop ups in Nordstrom and also CPB in town and there appeared to have more. The girls handling the orders were very nice and helpful. I was sad the ice cream machine was broken so that's why I dropped a star off. I ordered an ubae Swiss roll and a 4-pack variety pack tart. The Swiss roll is covered in real buttercream sprinkled with coconut flakes. The ubae flavored cake is soft and light. So yummy! Just could not stop eating. The variety tarts all tasted unique. I loved the chocolate haupia the best. The strawberry cream was a close second. The purple ubae flavor was okay...not earth shattering but good nonetheless.Ambiance is cozy but sparse. Will return again but please fix the ice cream machine!

We went here twice on our trip. According to the locals, this is the place to come to for great baked goods. The standouts here were the custard egg tarts and the custard bun. I would skip the bbq pork buns. There was too much fat on the meat inside. Line is shorter on the weekdays. Weekends, the line is long. Anything under $10 is cash only. Credit cards can only be used after you buy over $10+.This is a buy and go situation with nowhere to sit. We grabbed our items and ate it back at the hotel.

This update is limited to the croissant bites. At $3.95 for 1/2 dozen, these delectable delights are worth the hype. Crispy, flaky bites with a crème brûlée like glaze. There was a line going into this place today. I wondered if there would be any left by the time I came up to the counter to place my order. You must go early to try these delights. I was able to take pictures this time around. This is a small, but cheerful place. The glass display showcases are clean and attractive. 5/5 stars for the croissant bites.

A coworker gave me a cupcake from this place and I've been craving it ever since. My favorite is the mango lilikoi cupcake. What I like about this cupcake is that it's not too sweet. The frosting is reminiscent of the Red Ribbon mango cake frosting when it used to taste good, back in the days when Red Ribbon used to make their cakes with fresh mangoes instead of the canned or frozen mangoes they use now. I conducted a taste test between the fresh and day-old mango lilikoi cupcake and I didn't notice much of a difference. The fresh cupcake was a little more moist, but I actually preferred the day-old cupcake because I couldn't taste the oil as much. Plus, the day-old cupcake is 50% off. And let me tell you, the fresh cupcakes are not cheap! It was almost $5 per cupcake with tax.The cashier was very friendly. I forgot her name, but she wears blue contact lenses. We talked story for a little bit and she told me that Sugarlina used to be located somewhere else. She also told me that they use local eggs fresh from the egg farm in Wahiawa. Fresh, locally sourced products sure make a difference! I definitely recommend the mango lilikoi cupcake fresh or day-old despite the expensive price tag.

What an absolute delight to finally experience Panya thanks to our dear friend who enjoys this eatery! The FOOD, SERVICE, AMBIENCE were excellent! They even accommodated our fur baby companion with water and was open to his loving presence. No doubt the food was yummy including topping our time off with an amazing LIGHT CHEESECAKE! Iʻm not a cheesecake fan because itʻs usually a heavy type of dessert. But Panyaʻs Cheesecake was far from that...super light and refreshing!Thomas our server was professional, kind and attentive. We love him!Iʻm looking forward to being back at Panya with loved ones...including fur keikis and trying out other yummy delights.

We had our annual Christmas dinner on a Saturday evening. I've never been here before. The staffs and owner were truly amazing with service. When you walk in you'll greeted by all these wonderful, mouth watering desserts. The choice and selection was to die for. So many to choice from so I choice 4. The ambiance inside was so cute. Their salad was so fresh. Whatever dressing they use was so good. The attention to details was really on point. The baked salmon was delicious. Normally I don't like mashed potatoes with gravy. But their mashed potatoes was so moist. Every bite make you want more. The portion were perfect .

"By far a great place for donuts and pastries. The owner is terrific and friendly. Always a "hello" and greeting. Convenient right next to bus stops. During the week he has a good selection and on Saturday morning it is just nice to grab a few donuts. Very relaxed atmosphere and easy to find. Support your local businesses. I recommend the apple fritter it is almost a whole meal!"
"I finally got to try this place last week and I was so excited! I bought pumpkin crunch mochi, peanut butter mochi, strawberry and honeydew chichi dango, yuzu honey manju and pumpkin senbei. All were delicious but my absolute fave was the manju. Manju has a tendency to be dry but theirs isn't, it was absolutely delicious. Service here was top notch too. Two ladies helping in the front, very friendly and gave lots of good recommendations. Store is very clean and pretty with decor. They are quite busy and their parking lot is small so be patient when checking this place out. It was totally worth it. Look at the menu I took a pic of for their thanksgiving menu!"
"Best donuts! Auntie glory and auntie grace bake all of the items with love! Whatever they're getting paid- double that! You can't beat their baking!"
"I follow a local artist named @candicedoodles on IG and I saw that she started selling some of her merch at Cafe Kopi. I live near Kailua, so I was surprised to find out that Cafe Kopi is Singaporean owned and has been in Kailua for a number of years. How did I not know about this place??! I kind of jokingly pride myself in being 1/4 Singaporean Chinese. I seek out Singaporean things mostly because I miss traveling to Singapore twice a year with my grandparents. Singapore is nostalgic for me. I decided to come in asap to get a coffee and do some work. It's a nice little coffee shop with about 8 tables and a splattering of chairs. They offer cute pastries and coffee and tea. They also sell artwork from artists like Candicedoodles. I ordered the Teh Tarik with condensed milk. It had a strong tea flavor and I love condense milk, so it was perfect. I was thinking about getting kaya toast, but I didn't see it offered anywhere by the register (like on a menu)...oh well, next time!I will definitely need to come back on a Friday, Sat or Sunday to get Laksa. And I am thinking about making this my go to coffee shop in Kailua."
"We came here for dessert yesterday night after dinner at Liliha Bakery. We shared a mango coconut smoothie $6.35 and a piece of mango brûlée cake slice $4.75.I haven't been here in a while and had forgotten how good this place is. My hubby actually recommended we come here for dessert and I agreed. I'm so glad we came. The mango coconut smoothie was perfect. It was a 10 out of 10, one of the best mangoes smoothies ever. It was smooth, creamy and not too sweet. Of course the slice of mango cake was good as well. If I had to pick one, I'd definitely order the smoothie again."
"It's been years since I've treated myself to the delicious cupcakes that Hokulani Bake Shop offers. They're located in restaurant row at the Waterfront Plaza. Ever since the $1 movies shut down, I don't really go in the area so it was very nostalgic being there where I use to go catch a movie with my friends. Hokulani use to have a booth in the Pioneer Plaza where I would usually get a cupcake after work before I head back home.My favorites are and still the strawberry guava cupcake and their red velvet cupcake. I also picked up a few of their other flavors like their chocolate, carrot cake and ube flavors. The cupcakes aren't as moist as I remember them to be, but they do taste the same deliciousness I remember them to be. I'm usually not a frosting person and usually scrape the frosting off of cupcake, but with these cupcakes, I only wish they would add more. Their cream cheese frosting is top notch IMO.Definitely still one of the top bake shops on my list. I wish there were more locations. Definitely miss their location in Pearlridge Shopping Center. None the less, if you're ever in the area, definitely worth checking out their cupcakes."
"My aunty purchase us some sandwiches from here today for lunch and it was delicious. I had a hummus sandwich without onions and my daughter had a bbq chicken cheddar melt. All of the ingredients were very fresh and it was a nice size portion as well. She also bought us muffins, chocolate chip scones and some of those huge cookies! I was too full from lunch so I didn't try any of the baked goods yet but my daughter ate the muffin and scone and she liked them both. She thinks she a food critic (lol ) so if likes it, must be good! I will go back soon for my favorite kulolo tea cake"
"Friendly staff, nice store, plenty of options for food and even desserts. We ordered a few things and they were all pretty good. Not much seating available but there plenty of parking and other seating options outside."
"Landed upon this place since we were in the area. I ordered a few macarons, which were tasty... but why did it come frozen? Are they not fresh?"
"One of my favorite cafe fast service and price wise a little bit expensive but good i will recommend!"
"LOVE Brug!Faves:* This location does thin sliced bread (whereas the Ala Moana only offers thick)* I've tried the golden, plain, and puffy top breads -- faves are the plain. Golden is good and costs a premium but tastes the same as plain to me? Puffy supposedly has no sugar.* The Hokkaido Haskap Berry Jam - Love that it is tangy. Could be a bit less sweet. Has chunks of fruit inside, and is liquidy (but not in bad way).Lows:* Cranberry cheese bread: Tasted very bitter one time, they did not offer to refund me or replace (nor did I ask)."
"Cookie didn't Crumbl...The latest T-Mobile Tuesday offer was a free Chocolate Chip Cookie with that I was instantly in and since I was in the Kaimuki area it was just a short drive to Aina Haina Shopping Center.I thought that I had to order my cookie using the provided computer monitor but had trouble and asked a staff that was familiar with the offer and said that it needed to be placed by manually. The shop is very cozy as the service is very small but they do prep and gather your order pretty fast and have a good system as I got my cookie and got on my way.Thank you!"
"We were waiting to dine in for breakfast at Goofy and saw this donut shop right downstairs. There's graffiti everywhere and it's intentional I'm assuming. A cool little underground shop. I went in just to browse not thinking that I could eat anything. But I start reading the signs and confirm with the owners that all their donuts are vegan!!! My boyfriend and I both decide on the mochi donuts. They are able to fill the inside of the donut with any of their homemade fillings. The donuts are delicious! But just a heads up they are pretty pricey! The mochi donuts were the smallest ones available and were about $5 each!! But it was so good that I might go back when I want to treat myself! Friendly service and a great place to stop by when in Waikiki!"
"New Asian bakery in Kapolei-- one of those spots that you gotta go early if you want the full selection of baked goods. I came in around 2-3pm --- so most of the stuff was cleared out already. I picked up a basque cheesecake, matcha and cream pastry, and sausage bread. Surprisingly, the one I thought I'd like the most, the matcha cream bread, fell short for me. The sausage bread surprised me in the best way, can't believe that they didn't all get swooped up in the morning! Saved the basque cheesecake for later when we got home -- some folks hate the burnt taste but I like the slight bitterness that gives to offset the sweet. It's super new, clean, and bright. It's mostly self-service but you can also order drinks like coffee, matcha, and tea. Their cake selection here is awesome too -- think light and airy with cream and fruit! If you're already on the west side, this bakery is a great spot to pick up some asian pastries!"
"I passed by here this morning. I wanted to try their cookies. They have a kiosk where you can preorder the cookies. They had only certain flavors. I think I got the m&m one, a chocolate chip one, a blueberry one and a double decker chocolate one. I only tried the chocolate one and the blueberry. Pretty moist and good but it makes you thirsty. They should be selling drinks too lol Luckily I had a drink in my car as I ate them. Pretty on point with the flavors. The inside was nice. Sign up for their rewards program. I got points for the cookies I paid for. The staff was nice and welcoming. So glad that they have one here close to home. I'm definitely coming back when they have different flavors. Highly recommend.."
"I love this place so much! I used to go to one when I lived near Napa. They have the greatest little items. On this trip , I bought my usual coconut syrup along with Lili koi butter, macadamia honey and a few little other items. The coffee is great and the food is like Starbucks but it's a great little shop to visit and grab a snack or two. It's near Sheraton and Royal Hawaiian. I never miss a trip here when I'm in town!"
"Sweet or Savory...That's the question whenever you approach BRUG Bakery and that's what i was deciding as I was in the area of Manoa Marketplace.Located in the backside of the Marketplace right beside the playground but as it's 4pm which is pretty late for this bakery I was surprised to find it still open and though many of its selections are gone was happy to still see many yummy choices. As i checked in with Yelp there is an offer for a free pastry with $15 purchase which i didn't do today but is a great offer that I hope to remember in the future to redeem. As I entered was surprised to see how much smaller this location is but does seem to offer quite bit more items like crafted coffee and soft serve or even better combine them for an affogato!I did find a couple items one for tomorrow one for a snack and as I checked out the staff was such a delight as we talked about random subjects and just fell in love with this location especially with convenient free parking in the Marketplace.Thank you!"
"Estoy en O'ahu está semana de acción de gracias y mientras caminaba el centro comercial Ala Moana me percaté de este negocio de pizza que está l cruzar la calle y decidí probarlo. Vanessa y Rodrigo son los encargados de este negocio familiar y tienen excelente atención al cliente. Ordene una pizza de 10" que fue más que suficiente para una persona. Pepperoni con salchicha y el sabor fue espectacular. Lo recomiendo 100%. I'm in O'ahu for thanksgiving week and I spotted this wood fire pizza truck from across the street at the Ala Moana shopping center so I decided to give it a try. It's a family owned business ran by Vanessa and Rodrigo. I ordered the pepperoni sausage 10" which was perfect for one hungry person. The flavors were rich and well balanced, you have to eat it straight out of the oven for the best experience. I recommend it 100%."
"Aloha State Bake Shop was opened as an online bakery of Japanese cheesecakes by Kanako (known to her friends as "Kana") Mampuku who moved to HI from Osaka, Japan. She studied Culinary Arts at the University of HI Kapiolani Community College and had worked as a baker at Kona Coffee Purveyors. Kana opened her online bake shop in Sept 2020 in the midst of the Covid pandemic, hoping to bring a little joy and happiness by delivering delicious Japanese cheesecake to the people of HI; you could pick up the cheesecakes from Up Roll Café. With support from local residents, her business has grown, and she opened her brick-and-mortar bake shop in the Medical Arts Building in Makiki in Jan. 2022 and also find her cheesecakes at Dean & Deluca, Higoto, Japanese Eatery and Up Roll Café.Not to be confused with the Aloha Bakehouse & Café located in Kakaako that offers homemade baked goods and is completely separate from Aloha State Bake Shop that offers Japanese style cheesecakes, croissant sandwiches, and cookies. This cheesecake is Kana's signature item, was branded as "Island cheesecake" in Feb. 2022. In my trips to Japan, I would visit many bakeries, seeking Japanese cheesecake, which is lighter in texture, less sweet than that of US style cheesecakes and so delicious! Japanese cheesecakes are light and airy with whipped egg whites and cream cheese, a perfect balance of smoothness and fluffiness. So, I was excited to find out that Kana was baking these Japanese cheesecakes using local ingredients, e.g., vanilla from Laie Vanilla Co. and local fruits (mango, lilikoi). Depending on the season, the cheesecake flavors have included: original, lilikoi/vanilla, black sesame (imported from Japan), mango mousse, Hojicha (roasted green tea imported from Kyoto, Japan), pistachio/raspberry. You can purchase them in slices, 1/2 loaf, or full loaf. Half loaves are wrapped in a saran wrap, then with parchment paper and tied with a colored string ribbon. Full loves are wrapped in the same manner, but are placed in a colorful, heavy duty box with a magnetized flap of two designs that are Kana's favorites, artist Sarah Caudle's Hawaiian beaches in blue and a green drawing as a tribute to the vanilla farm in Laie.I have tasted the hojicha, black sesame, and lilikoi/vanilla flavors, and all are excellent! They are so creamy, light, not overly sweet, fluffy, melts in your mouth, and have delicious flavors! Yes, same cheesecakes as those in Japan!Staff is very friendly and patient in answering many questions. It's a very inconspicuous small space, just a counter to order and pay, as most of the space is the kitchen and prep area. Nice clean area with grab-and-go cookies in brightly wrapped cellphane bags that are good for gifts.Other seasonal desserts include: cookies (walnut/choc chip, lilikoi choc, Hibiscus tea, vanilla sea salt); cream puffs (strawberry, matcha/azuki, Hojicha); strawberry shortcake cup; mizu yokan; matcha tiramisu; choc/matcha; seasonal fruit panna cotta; muffin cake; puddings (Hojicha, shortcake); butter mochi; banana bread; chocolates (matcha nama, classic nama); Mont blanc. In May 2023, sandwiches were offered: croissants (salmon cream cheese, tuna melt, turkey pesto, pesto chicken, egg salad); and salads (pesto chicken, smoked salmon, turkey ham, prosciutto.Hours of operation are Mon to Fri 10a to 5p (cheesecakes and desserts from 10a and sandwiches from 11a); pick up only on Sat/Sun 8:30a to 9:30a. They're located literally in a hole-in-the-wall location, in the Kupuna wing of the basement in the former Tommy's Coffee Shop location. Validated parking is provided with a 15-min grace period + one-hour free validated parking. It is easy to get lost, so head toward the So. King St. side of the building. So glad to know that I can find Japanese cheesecake in HNL! We're fortunate that Kana has brought her talented skills of Japanese cheesecake making here so that we can all enjoy without going to Japan. Always happy to support this woman-owned local small business! Thank you, Kana!"
"Ordered the thanksgiving meal several years in a row.. alway great. This will be my go to from now on.."
"These are crazy times and small business really needs our help. So, utilizing my last American Express, shop small credit, I decided to try this bakery I often walk past, but never patron. The lady there was super polite, friend, and efficient! She even picked out the best-looking apple turnover for me! They have a wide selection of baked goods, but they did run out of raisin bread, which apparently is a big draw. The seem to have more sweet than savory choices, but that might be because I went after lunch. They also have a wide variety of gorgeous looking cakes, but that's for another day, and for a post-COVID party.I picked up an apple turnover, cream bun, cranberry vanilla bun, and a custard bun for a little over $11 with tax to bring over to my parents' house. The apple turnover was incredibly flakey, but without that overpowering butter taste that off balances so many turnovers. The filing was a good amount of apples with just the right sweetness The cream bun had a light and airy cream filling, with super soft bun breading. The cranberry bun was also super soft with a slightly sweet, slightly tart cranberry flavor. The custard bun had a good amount of very smooth, and light custard with a sprinkling of almonds in, you guessed it, super soft breading. They take American Express! Parking is easy with the two large parking lots servicing the shopping center. There were never any sit-down areas in the shop before COVID, but the nearby benches have been removed, so eat in your car, or drive down to the beach park nearby and enjoy your pastries 6 feet apart from each other. 3.5 stars."
"I spoke with several different cake companies around Hawaii for my wedding last year and knew immediately after talking to the Patisserie owner Colleen that she was the right fit for me. From the initial consulation at the bakery to the actual Big Day when the cake was delivered at my venue, the process was smooth and very professional. Colleen really cared and helped me have the beautiful, dream cake I always wanted and not only did it look good, it was so delicious!! There is a great variety of choices (we went with chocolate haupia, strawberry guava and lilikoi, three diff flavors for each tier) and the prices were reasonable. I cant wait to eat another slice when my anniversary comes around this May...the top tier is frozen and waiting for me in my fridge!"
"To my dearest Pandesal, I love you but I just don't know about your family. They don't acknowledge me when I come. They are impatient with me when I ask questions. They talk bad about me in front of me. I may not speak Filipino fluently but I can understand. I just don't know what to do Pandesal because I'm head over heals over you! It's all worth it I will win them over, you wait and see. Your Beloved,Kim C. I just can't get enough of the pandesal from Golden Coin. I can eat a whole dozen to myself. It's made to order and it takes about 10 minutes if it's not busy. The only thing is customer service is not too great. At times I get overlooked. I didn't realize in the Philippines that they allow the elderly to go ahead of the line; until I visited when I was an adult. I'm unsure if that's what's happening when I come in. I may be Filipino but I'm not an expert in all of the dishes. I ask questions sometimes when it's not busy I want to try something different and get met with grief. Sometimes when I come in and the workers automatically talk to me in Filipino/Tagalog and I respond in English. It was a while back but the worker said something not nice in Filipino. Parking:It has its own private lot. Inside:There are several tables inside. It's situated like a Panada Express, there are ready made items that you can choose from to make a plate lunch or made to order items. Other Items I usually get:- I get a variety of dessert here. My favorite is the Ube Roll. - Pancit - Adobo ChickenParty Room:I have attended several parties at this location. The party area is located upstairs. Every party I attended had Lechon (roasted pig). Despite the service, I continue to come back for the pandesal, grab and go food, and desserts.2024: 6/30 I love you so much that I will take the stabs from your family :.......("
